Spears Allows Lutfi Restraining Order Lifted

The following italicized article is from www.eonline.com:

The Spears family's temporary restraining order against Sam Lutfi is set to expire later today. Which means Britney's onetime constant companion is now free...to continue maintaining his distance from the star.

"It's done," a source close to Lutfi told E! News of the already twice-renewed order. "They are dropping it."

The order, which has been in place since February, when Spears' parents claimed he "drugged" Britney and otherwise "purported to take control of her life, home and finances," officially runs out at 1:30 p.m. PT.

Jamie Spears, Britney's father and continuing conservator, opted not to renew the order, deeming it no longer necessary thanks to his daughter's renewed mental clarity.

"Britney has made clear to everyone that she does not want to be further harassed or contacted in any way by Osama 'Sam' Lutfi, now or anytime in the future," said Samuel D. Ingham III, the singer's court-appointed attorney.

However, should she not have made herself clear enough, the Spears clan, restraining order or not, still have the upper legal hand in the situation.

Despite insistence by a Lutfi insider earlier this month that the singer's ex-manager would refuse to sign another restraining order extension, Jamie Spears remains in charge of who is allowed to see Britney in his role as conservator of his daughter's estate.

At least one person has come to Lutfi's public defense.

Michael Sands, the former spokesman for Kevin Federline's divorce attorney turned former spokesman for Lutfi, told E! News that Lutfi is "a good guy but was made to be the tabloid villain."

"He's glad that she is doing well and getting along with her family. Everything will work out; it will be fine and what will be, will be!"

A source close to Lutfi seconded that notion, telling E! News that Spears' former pal "only wishes the best for her, her parents and her sons.

"He has always been supportive of Britney and has never tried to capitalize on their personal relationship. He was never in a position to control."

Britney's Dad to Remain in Control for Rest of the Year

The following italicized article is from www.people.com:

Britney Spears's father will remain in legal control of his daughter until Dec. 31, a court ruled Thursday.

Jamie Spears, 56, was named temporary conservator of her affairs on Feb. 1 following his 26-year-old daughter's two forced hospitalizations in January. "The extension of the conservatorship was at the request and suggestion of Britney's doctors," says a source close to the singer. "They've indicated she's made great improvement, but it's a work in progress. Jamie Spears doesn't want the conservatorship to last a day longer than the doctors recommend."

Jamie has sole authority over whom his daughter has contact with, and has hired security guards to watch her 24 hours a day. He shares control with another lawyer over her multimillion-dollar estate.

A progress review of the case was set for Oct. 28.

Earlier Thursday, Spears's court-appointed attorney, Samuel D. Ingham III, told the Associated Press that he wouldn't seek to extend the restraining order against the singer's one-time pal Sam Lutfi, because Spears has cut all ties with Lutfi anyway.

Ingham also said that the restraining order is no longer necessary because Jamie can legally control whom his daughter sees: "During the temporary conservatorship, the conservators have the power to insure that Lutfi will not harm Britney anymore."

We're now told everyone in the Brit conservatorship is on board to end the whole deal on October 28.

In court today, the judge extended the conservatorship until the end of the year, but set a hearing on October 28. We're told daddy Jamie is following the lead of the doctors, who are saying they think the 28th is a reasonable time to end the conservatorship. Brit is cool with that as well, though the judge said she agreed ... "reluctantly."

We're told between now and October 28, the goal is to gradually ween Brit off being managed so tightly so she can get back to life.

BREAKING NEWS: Britney Spears Under Dad's Control Until December 31

The following italicized article is from www.usmagazine.com:

Britney Spears will be under the conservatorship of her father Jamie until December 31, it was decided in court Thursday.

"Ms. Spears is reluctantly agreeing to extend the temporary [conservatorship]," L.A. Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz said after the hearing.

The commissioner also said Jamie's conservatorship could be "terminated earlier." A status hearing was set for October 28.

Jamie and attorney Andrew Wallet were put in control of the pop singer's finances and estate in February after she was hospitalized in January.

While Jamie was not spotted at the courthouse Thursday, Britney's brother Bryan was. When asked by Usmagazine.com if he had a comment, he shook his head.

Since Spears' father was put in charge, she has reunited with her sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 22 months.

Kevin Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told Usmagazine.com that a reunion "couldn't have happened without" the help of Spears' father.

"We were able to get it to a point where everyone was comfortable,” Kaplan told Us.

“We’re just very positive about it," he said. "Having her dad stabilizing everything is a good thing."

Britney's Conservatorship Extended

The following italicized article is from www.ok-magazine.com:

In a move predicted by most people who have been following the life of pop superstar Britney Spears, it was announced today that the singer has "reluctantly agreed" to the extension of her father's conservatorship over her financial, legal and personal matters. This latest extension could keep Jamie Spears in charge through Dec. 31."In regard to the conservatorship of the person, it is my understanding that Ms. Spears reluctantly agreed to extend the temporary letters to Dec. 31, 2008," said court commissioner Reva Goetz after this morning's hearings. "Those orders could be terminated earlier. A status hearing is acheduled for Oct. 28."

The conservatorship has been in place since Britney's hospitalization in February, after which a court sided with Jamie that his daughter was temporarily unable to make sound decisions regarding her finances and her life in general.

Also discussed in court today was the issue of fees Britney owes to her various lawyers. It was agreed that she is to make a partial payment of just under $200,000 in attorney fees to the lawyers representing her trust, her estate and her person. Another hearing is slated for Aug. 14 to discuss legal fees for Stacey Phillips and Laura Wasser, two of her lawyers in her just-ended custody battle, and her brother Bryan Spears, who was named a c0-trustee over her assets.

Los Angeles court extends James Spears' conservatorship over Britney until the end of 2008

The following italicized article is from www.associatedpress.org:

Britney Spears' father will retain control of the pop singer's finances and personal affairs through the end of the year. Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz extended James Spears' conservatorship over his daughter Thursday morning until the end of 2008.

Goetz opened the hearing by saying the singer "reluctantly agreed" to extend the arrangement, and scheduled an update hearing for October.

The pop singer's father assumed control over her personal life and finances earlier this year after a series of high-profile incidents of erratic behavior that twice led to her being hospitalized.

Spears has since shown signs of improvement, settling a custody dispute with Kevin Federline, making successful TV cameos and working on an album this summer.

Neither Spears or her father appeared in court Thursday.

Britney’s Conservatorship Extended

The following italicized article is from www.accesshollywood.com:

Britney Spears’ conservatorship has been extended through the end of the year, Access Hollywood has learned.

Britney Spears’ legal team, minus the pop star, was back in court Thursday at Los Angeles Superior Court for a hearing concerning her temporary conservatorship.

A little over two hours after the hearing began, Commissioner Reva Goetz announced that Spears’ conservatorship would continue through the end of the year.

“Ms. Spears is reluctantly agreeing to an extension of the temporary letters to Dec. 31, 2008,” Goetz said.

As a result of the ruling, Britney’s father, Jamie Spears, will retain control over Britney’s personal life and finances.

A status hearing is scheduled for Oct. 28, where the conservatorship will once again be reviewed and could be terminated early.

In other Britney-related court matters, at 1:30 PM today, the court will address the restraining order against Britney’s former manger, Sam Lutfi.

Brit Commish: "Britney Reluctantly Agrees To Extend Conservatorship"

The following italicized article is from www.x17online.com:

Britney Spears has "reluctantly" agreed to extend her father's conservatorship!

Following the conclusion of this morning's hearing Commissioner Reva Goetz granted Jamie Spears six additional months of conservatorship over his daughter. "Miss Spears has reluctantly agreed that we extend," he told reporters.

All elements of the conservatorship (including control over Britney's estate, trust, and personal life) are now set to expire on December 31st, with an additional court date on October 28th for the courts to check up on Britney's progress. No decision about the conservatorship becoming permanent will be made before then.

This morning's hearing also dealt with payments, as all lawyers collected their paychecks. Britney's brother Bryan also sought a payment for an unspecified service, but Commissioner

Goetz deferred discussing Bryan's payment until a later date.

Well, it's a shame that Britney wasn't be given full control of her life back - but if she keeps making the kind of progress under Jamie she's been making, this could turn out to be a blessing in disguise!

Britney Conservatorship Hearing in Full Swing

The following italicized article is from www.eonline.com:

Britney Spears' days of media-deluged court appearances may be behind her, but it's not quite case closed for the pop star.

Attorneys for the singer are currently meeting in the chambers of Court Commissioner Reva Goetz at the Los Angeles Superior Courthouse to discuss either extending or terminating her father's current conservatorship over her estate.

While neither Spears nor papa Jamie are present for the session, her brother Bryan Spears, a cotrustee of Britney's assets, is in the courtroom.

As yet, there's no word on the outcome of today's closed-door hearing, though sources told E! News just yesterday that despite rumors the 26-year-old could regain control of her estate after today, the conservatorship is unlikely to be dissolved until the end of the year, with Goetz expected to extend the order.

Attorneys for Jamie Spears, largely if not wholly credited with his daughter's personal and professional resuscitation, are expected to request the extension to last through later this fall.

Also on the docket for today's hearing is the Spears family's temporary restraining order over Sam Lutfi.

Sources told E! News this week that the Spears patriarch was unlikely to attempt to make the order against Lutfi permanent—not that he is welcome in the Spears family's life.

Should Jamie's conservatorship get extended, the restraining order would be redundant since he, as acting conservator, is already well within his power—restraining order or not—to determine who gets one-on-one time with Britney.

Lawyer: Britney Spears Doesn't Want Sam Lutfi In Her Life

The following italicized article is from www.people.com:

Britney Spears's restraining order against one-time pal Sam Lutfi may have been temporary, but their friendship is permanently over.

The pop star's court-appointed attorney, Samuel D. Ingham III, told the Associated Press that he will not seek to extend the restraining order in court on Thursday – because Spears has cut all ties with Lutfi anyway.

"Britney has made clear to everyone," Ingham said, "that she does not want to be further harassed or contacted in any way by Osama 'Sam' Lutfi, now or at anytime in the future."

Lutfi has been out of Spears's life since February, when her father, Jamie, was granted legal control of her affairs as temporary conservator. (At the time, Britney's mother, Lynne, accused Lutfi of drugging the singer.)

According to Ingham, the restraining order is no longer necessary because Jamie can legally control whom Britney, 26, sees: "During the temporary conservatorship, the conservators have the power to insure that Lutfi will not harm Britney anymore."

Lutfi, it seems, will abide by the Spears family's wishes. He said in his own statement to the AP, "Mr. Lutfi and Mr. Spears have mutually agreed in private that no hearing or order is necessary at this time."

Ingham added that once Britney regains control of her life, she will continue to keep Lutfi out of it. "If Mr. Lutfi makes any future attempt to contact Britney after the temporary conservatorship has concluded," he said, "Britney has made clear she will take all appropriate legal action."

Lawyers for Jamie Spears are expected in court Thursday for a review of the conservatorship.

Lawyer: Britney Wants No Contact With Sam Lutfi

The following italicized article is from www.abcnews.com:

An attorney for Britney Spears said Wednesday that he will not seek an extension for a restraining order against Osama "Sam" Lutfi, but that doesn't mean the pop star wants her former sidekick back in her life.

"Britney has made clear to everyone that she does not want to be further harassed or contacted in any way by Osama 'Sam' Lutfi, now or at anytime in the future," Spears' attorney Samuel D. Ingham III said in a statement to The Associated Press.

Lutfi, for the time being, seems willing to go along with those wishes.

He called the AP late Wednesday and released the following statement: "Mr. Lutfi and Mr. Spears have mutually agreed in private that no hearing or order is necessary at this time."

He declined further comment.

Britney Spears Beds Her Minder

The following italicized article is from www.thesun.co.uk:

BRITNEY SPEARS has fallen for one of her bodyguards — a former Israeli soldier.

The 26-year-old singer, battling to get her volatile private life back on track, is dating the tough guy named LEE.

He is the FOURTH member of staff dated by mum-of-two Britney, for whom he has worked full-time for the past six months.

Lee has been spending his days off by her side and has even started sleeping under the same roof at her Los Angeles home.

A source said: “Britney and Lee hit it off immediately.

“He is her perfect type. She loves guys who work out and he is in great shape from his days serving in the Israeli Army.

“He also has a few tattoos, which she loves. They’ve spent so much time together that one thing led to another and their relationship became physical.

“They are in Mexico together. They’ve been having a great time — Lee’s put a smile on her face.”

American-born Lee was snapped earlier this week dancing with Britney at the side of her Mexico hotel swimming pool.

The star has been making good progress improving her professional and private life.

She recently reached an amicable custody agreement with ex-husband KEVIN FEDERLINE, 30 — giving her more access to sons Sean Preston, two, and 22-month-old Jayden James.

She has also been working on a video for MADONNA’s forthcoming tour.

Britney has a habit of falling for men on her payroll, sharing a fling with ex-manager SAM LUTFI earlier this year.

Federline was a backing dancer and she even dated paparazzi ADNAN GHALIB, who was working with her setting up photos.

Her gardener had better beware.

Atty: Britney Wants No Contact With Sam Lutfi

The following italicized article is from www.yahoo.com:

An attorney for Britney Spears said Wednesday that he will not seek an extension for a restraining order against Osama "Sam" Lutfi, but that doesn't mean the pop star wants her former sidekick back in her life.

"Britney has made clear to everyone that she does not want to be further harassed or contacted in any way by Osama 'Sam' Lutfi, now or at anytime in the future," Spears' attorney Samuel D. Ingham III said in a statement to The Associated Press.

Attorneys for Spears and her father James are expected to appear in a Los Angeles courtroom Thursday morning to give an update on the conservatorship. A hearing on a temporary restraining order barring Lutfi from having contact with the pop singer was also scheduled for Thursday. The order issued earlier this year required Lutfi to stay 250 yards away from Spears or her homes.

Lutfi represented one of the strangest twists in Spears' downward spiral earlier this year. The singer's mother accused Lutfi — who described himself as a friend and sometime manager — in court papers of keeping Spears a hostage in her own home, drugging her and taking over her finances.

A phone message left Wednesday evening on Lutfi's cell phone was not immediately returned. His spokesman declined to comment until after the court hearing.

Lutfi was a fixture in Spears' life during a period when the star exhibited erratic behavior, including being photographed without underwear and occasionally looking dazed in public.

Spears' father has control over his 26-year-old daughter's personal life and finances.

That power negates the need for a restraining order against Lutfi since James Spears' role as conservator allows him to decide who sees his daughter, according to Ingham's statement.

He serves as a court-appointed counsel representing Spears' interest in the ongoing conservatorship case.

"During the temporary conservatorship, the conservators have the power to insure that Lutfi will not harm Britney anymore," Ingham wrote.

Thursday's hearing had originally been scheduled to decide whether the conservatorship should be made permanent, but Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz decided weeks ago that she would instead consider other issues.

It is unclear how long Spears' affairs will remain under her father's control, but Ingham wrote that he does not expect her feelings about Lutfi to change.

"If Mr. Lutfi makes any future attempt to contact Britney after the temporary conservatorship has concluded, Britney has made clear she will take all appropriate legal action," Ingham wrote.

Britney's Dad to Rule the Roost Through '08?

The following italicized article is from www.eonline.com:

Britney Spears' days under her father's thumb are numbered. But it's still a pretty big number.

Sources tell E! News that the popster's conservatorship likely won't be dissolved until the end of this year, despite rumors that the 26-year-old could regain control over her estate as soon as tomorrow, following a hearing on various issues pertaining to the arrangement.

Instead, attorneys for Jamie Spears are planning to ask Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz, who's been presiding over the matter since the conservatorship was instated Feb. 1, to extend the order until the fall, according to a source familiar with the situation.

But while that sounds as if it could be grounds for more legal wrangling on Britney's part, it's unlikely that the recuperating songstress is going to fight what appears to be working—at least in terms of Britney being more of a virulent attention-getter as opposed to a prayer-inspiring basket case.

Following Britney's second forced hospitalization in January, Jamie and attorney Andrew Wallet were appointed temporary coconservators of the singer's estate. Her dad also got a say as to who she came into contact with and when, as well as a $2,500 weekly allowance so that he could focus full-time on his oldest little girl.

Since Jamie took the reins of his daughter's finances, medical care and overall welfare, she's slowly rebuilt her relationship with her toddler sons, received sage wisdom from Mel Gibson, guest-starred twice on How I Met Your Mother, shot a video for Madonna's upcoming concert tour and, ahem, gotten the closest she's been to her prebaby bod since…well, since before she had her babies.

Britney's legal camp says that she's waiting until the conservatorship has ended to petition for joint custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James, who will be 3 and 2 in September, respectively. But last week, in handing sole custody over to ex-hubby Kevin Federline, a court granted her more time with the boys each week, as well as an extra overnight visit.

And, with no help from her dad, the "Toxic" blonde's "Piece of Me" scored a nomination for Best Female Video at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, which takes place Sept. 7 in Hollywood.

Also to be dealt with Thursday—the Spears' family's temporary restraining order against former Britney bud Sam Lutfi, who Jamie and Lynne Spears accused of making a variety of manipulative moves while their daughter was emotionally and mentally vulnerable.

We hear that Jamie's camp won't move to make the order permanent—a motion Lutfi had been geared up to fight—and will just let the bad blood evaporate. Britney would still theoretically be barred from seeing Lutfi anyway because of Jamie's continued oversight of who she spends her time with.

Sam Lutfi to Fight Britney Restraining Order

The following italicized article is from www.ok-magazine.com:

Just when you thought you'd heard the last of Britney Spears' former companion Sam Lutfi, he pokes his head out of the sand.

OK! has confirmed that Brit's one-time self-described "manager" will be attempting to end his 6-month-long ban from being within 250 yards of the singer.

Sam, who rose from complete obscurity almost a year ago when he quickly became a fixture in the passenger seat of Britney's Mercedes-Benz, has been under the restrictions of a temporary restraining order since February. That order, which was most recently extended in April, expires on July 31, and Sam's lawyers will be making their case in an L.A. court on Thursday that it's time for the ban to be lifted.

In typically overdramatic fashion for Sam, he has refused to have his side of the argument heard by commissioner Reva Goetz, who initially signed off on the order following a request from Brit's mother Lynne Spears. Instead, the hearing on whether or not to extend the restraining order will be argued before a Judge Bobb.

However, even if Sam's lawyers are convincing enough to have the order lifted, it's doubtful that Brit's dad, Jamie Spears, who is still in control of her life for the time-being, will allow him near his daughter. Says the source, "I don't think Jamie will be calling up ol' Sammy to come over for a BBQ anytime soon!"

Speaking of Britney and her father, tomorrow is also the date that lawyers for the conservatorship over the singer's estate and person will all appear before commissioner Goetz to set a date for the trial that will determine if the conservatorship should be made permanent.

Thursday had originally been slated as the start date for the trial, but commissioner Goetz requested more medical and psychiatric evaluation to determine if the pop star is fit to stand trial, so the trial was delayed.

Last month, Sam Ingham, the court-appointed laywer representing Brit, told the commissioner that it would be "harmful" for his client to be involved in any "litigation or depositions" because of her "fluid" state of mind.

Britney to Sam: I Quit You

The following italicized article is from www.tmz.com:

Our sources say Britney Spears' hanger-on-er Sam Lutfi won't be legally restrained from getting his Brit fix, but it doesn't matter because she's over him.

We're told Brit's lawyers will not ask for a new restraining order when the existing one expires tomorrow. That's because Sammy boy ain't getting near Britney -- she wants nothing to do with him. The fact that daddy Jamie feels confident that Britney's mindset is stronger than any legal document is an affirmation of Sam's irrelevance.

So the hearing tomorrow will be short and sweet.

Expert: Britney Spears's Father Likely to Remain in Control

The following italicized article is from www.people.com:

Britney Spears's father will likely remain in control of the singer's affairs following a court review Thursday, an expert says.

"I would be very surprised if the court ends her father's control so soon," says Terry K. Wasserman, a mental health attorney not involved in her case. "It's rare for someone to regain their capacity in just 60 days."

Two months ago, Spears's attorney Samuel Ingham testified that the pop star was unfit to take part in legal proceedings. "In fact, they could be harmful to her," Ingham said.

Jamie Spears, 56, was named temporary conservator of her affairs on Feb. 1 following his 26-year-old daughter's two forced hospitalizations in January.

He has sole authority over whom she has contact with, and has hired security guards to watch her 24 hours a day. Her father also shares control with another lawyer over her multimillion-dollar estate.

Conservatorships can last anywhere from several months up to a person's lifetime. "Britney can only regain control of her life if she proves to the court – backed by medical experts – that she's regained her health," Wasserman says.

Thursday's hearing will also determine whether a restraining order will be renewed against the singer's former pal Sam Lutfi.

Last week, Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline, 30, ended their custody battle, reaching a settlement in which Federline retains sole custody of sons Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden, 1 1/2, with visits by Spears.

"Whether Britney is high or low, feeling happy or sad, the cameras are there catching it all. Some of the footage is really explosive and it's going to be must-see TV.

Britney Conservatorship To Take Center Stage At Thursday Court Hearing

The following italicized article is from www.accesshollywood.com:

A hearing concerning the temporary conservatorship of Britney Spears will be held in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday, which could affect whether the pop star will remain legally under the care of her father and a lawyer.

A judge ruled Britney was to be placed under a temporary conservatorship, overseen by her father Jamie Spears and attorney Andrew Wallet, back in February. The ruling allowed Jamie Spears and Wallet to make decisions, including those on financial matters, on the singer’s behalf.

Additionally, a temporary restraining order was filed by the conservatorship against Britney’s friend, Sam Lutfi. The order was eventually served and extended.

Lawyers for the conservatorship will meet in court on Thursday during a morning session. It was unclear if Britney (who was recently spotted in Cabo San Lucas) would attend the hearing.

On Tuesday, a source told X-17 Online that the temporary conservatorship may come to a close, but the move seems unlikely as Britney’s recent custody deal with Kevin Federline is said to weigh heavily on the conservatorship and her father’s role in her life.

An afternoon session will address the temporary restraining order against Lutfi and whether to make it permanent.

According to E! News, Britney’s former constant companion, who has been unable to visit the pop star since February 1, will fight making the order permanent.

“Sam won’t sign a permanent stay-away,” a source close to Lutfi said.

Britney Spears Is Gone In A Flash

The following italicized article is from www.latimes.com:

She's rarely seen now, and when she appears, she's good. And that's bad for the paparazzi.

To the mortgage crisis and the energy crunch and the devalued dollar, add this: a recession in the Britney market.

The young woman who rose and fell (and fell and fell) in the paparazzi's strobe lights seems to have put bizarre public displays behind her, and the photographers who made hundreds and thousands -- and in some cases, hundreds of thousands -- capturing her missteps must look elsewhere for celebrities more predictably unpredictable.

"She's boring. She doesn't even have a boyfriend," said Francois Navarre, the co-owner of X17, the photo agency that set the standard for aggressive 24/7 coverage of Britney Spears.

The Spears of today may not be any more boring than dozens of celebrities who fill magazines, but she is decidedly duller than her former self. Photographers who relied on her for hourly material for the gossip blogs are confronted by a lack of access and a lack of drama. She rarely goes out and when she does, she behaves herself. No umbrella attacks. No head shaving. No fake British accent. No panty-free car exits.

Agencies that dispatched SUV-loads of freelancers to track her every move last year have downsized their Britney teams.

"At the height of the story, we had maybe six or eight guys on it round the clock," said Chris Doherty, owner of INF, which sells pictures to magazines, websites and TV shows. "Now we would have at most two. There's no real point to being there all the time."

Spears' allure remains, as evidenced by two paparazzi arrested last week near her residence, but the coverage does not compare to the intense stakeouts that proceeded her confinement in a psychiatric ward in January.

A commissioner in Los Angeles County Superior Court subsequently named her father, Jamie, co-conservator of her and her estate, giving him and a lawyer control of the 26-year-old's medical care, finances and day-to-day activities.

Out went the paparazzi-friendly advisor, the British-accented outbursts and the aimless driving excursions that sent caravans of photographers coursing through the city. In came meals at home, family talks, conferences with attorneys and, on a good day, dance class.

The structure and supervision transformed Spears' life for the better, her representatives say.

Ten months after she lost custody of her sons, she finalized an agreement with her ex-husband that provides for gradually expanding visitation rights. She is reportedly back in the recording studio. On the rare occasions she ventures out, the gossip sites that documented her woes have congratulated her on her healthy, happy appearances.

It is welcome news for her family but an enormous change for those used to translating Spears' intemperance into a paycheck.

"Her father is doing what a good parent would do, but that doesn't help the paparazzi," said Bonnie Fuller, who was editor of Star magazine and Us Weekly when Spears was a staple.

"She's not going out with her former BFFs Paris and Lindsay anymore," Fuller said, referring to Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.

Before the court intervened, Spears was seemingly omni-available to the videographers and still photographers who camped outside her Studio City gated community.

She dated a paparazzo. Her closest friend and advisor, Sam Lutfi, allowed photographers into Spears' house and provided them with information about her comings and goings, according to her mother, Lynne.

Her spacey ramblings and constant wardrobe changes made her a tabloid photographer's dream. Every rant meant salable video; each new outfit meant fresh photos. The prices that photos fetch are often overstated, but Navarre said an exclusive photo of Spears today would only bring a 10th of what it did during her most erratic times.

"Then it could sell for $10,000 to $15,000, but now it would be hard to get over $1,500," he said.

Others who sell photos disagreed, saying the smaller number of paparazzi has kept the prices relatively stable.

Navarre's agency, X17, had 25 people assigned to Spears duty earlier this year. Now it's fewer than 10, he said.

On a recent weekend, "we were the only ones," he said.

Nick Stern, a veteran photojournalist who quit his photo agency in disgust at the apex of Spears' coverage, said many photographers who tracked her were foreigners drawn by the relatively easy money. When their access to Spears dried up, Stern said, they had no incentive to stay on the beat or even in the field.

"These guys don't really have any interest in the media or reporting news. It was about money. I wouldn't be surprised if many of the snappers covering Britney have moved on to other jobs or other parts of the U.S. or even back to their home countries," said Stern, chief photographer for the Australian agency Crocmedia.

Some have refocused on up-and-coming celebrities, including Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers.

An attorney for Spears said the singer did not miss the glare.

"Britney and her family are delighted to dis-incentivize the outrageous behavior of the paparazzi," lawyer Blair Berk said.

Her neighbors have noted the shrinking number of lenses camped outside the guardhouse.

"At the peak, there were 25, but now it's down to three or four," said Jim DeBoard, a resident of the Summit.

He said it had been about six months since he saw paparazzi breaking traffic laws to get behind Spears' vehicle.

"We are still all amazed at how crazy it was," DeBoard said.

The paparazzi's presence may never again reach the levels that preceded Spears' hospitalizations, but neither is it likely to remain as low as it is now, those in the industry say.

Eventually, she will resume a more public life, they say, and when she does, the cameras will be waiting.

"If Britney were to walk out tonight with a new boyfriend, we could still command high prices for those photos," Doherty said.

Frank Griffin, a partner in the Bauer-Griffin photo agency, said the reduced coverage of Spears was proof that the safe money is in happy stories.

"At the end of the day, people don't want to see train wrecks. Yes, they might want to see the mighty fall, but they don't want to kick dirt in their faces," Griffin said.

In the long run, he said, flattering photos of babies, new romances and weight loss trump even the most unflinching views of scandal.

"I guarantee if Britney were lying on the beach with Brad Pitt in a skinny bikini, it would be absolutely crazy," Griffin said.

Britney Finds Calm in Cabo

The following italicized article is from www.ok-magazine.com:

Splashing in a pool and dancing with one of her bodyguards, Britney Spears looked happier and healthier than she has in years as she showed the world that she has her killer bikini body back.

The occasion was a weekend getaway vacation to Los Cabos, Mexico, organized by Palms Casino owner and good family friend George Maloof, who intended to help Britney relax after finalizing her hard-fought custody battle against her ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Britney, 26, lost that war. On July 25, Los Angeles County Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon signed off on an agreement giving Kevin, 30, sole legal and physical custody of their sons, Jayden James, 22 months, and Sean Preston, who turns 3 on Sept. 14.

Britney is allowed supervised visitation three times a week, including one overnight. Still, just having the custody battle over was a relief for Britney, whose focus now is staying fit (she eats five small protein-packed meals a day and works out rigorously), getting her career back on track and, most important, being a great mom to her little boys.

"Britney had an overnight visit with Jayden and Preston before leaving for Mexico," a source tells OK!. "They had just been picked up to go back to Kevin's on Saturday morning when she left for the airport. Britney was in great spirits when she got on the plane."

Sam Lutfi Won't Agree to Permanent Britney Barrier

The following italicized article is from www.eonline.com:

Does Sam Lutfi want back in the Britney picture? Or does he just not want some stinkin' judge telling him what to do (let alone some stinkin' commissioner)?

Sources tell E! News that the former member of preconservatorship Team Spears is willing to fight the restraining order that's been keeping him at least 250 yards away from his popster pal since Feb. 1.

A hearing on conservatorship issues, including whether to make the Spears family's order against Lutfi permanent, is scheduled for July 31.

"Sam won’t sign a permanent stay-away," a Lutfi insider says.

So far, Lutfi has "quietly" allowed the current order to be extended twice without appearing in court to object, with the last rollover occurring April 16.

"He just agreed to it," Lutfi spokesman Michael Sands said at the time. "Sam and the family are communicating and cooperating, trying to do what's best for Britney."

But while the onetime flashbulb target "just wants the whole case to go away," he is apparently eager to at least clear his name, considering 2 a.m. shopping sprees and other questionable bonding experiences are a thing of the past.

"If they want to go to trial, he will go to trial," the source said. "He did nothing wrong."

X17 XCLUSIVE - X17 SOURCE SAYS BRITNEY CONSERVATORSHIP COULD END TOMORROW!

The following italicized article is from www.x17online.com:

An X17 source close to Britney's camp tells X17online exclusively that Jamie Spears' conservatorship over his daughter's estate could end tomorrow, a day ahead of a scheduled hearing in which the matter is to be reviewed.

Jamie Spears was named temporary co-conservator (along with attorney Andrew Wallet) of his daughter back on February 1st of this year.

Since then, her conservators have been in charge of everything from Britney's legal affairs (including her custody battle with ex, Kevin Federline, which was recently resolved with her giving Federline full custody), as well as her medical affairs.

A hearing regarding Spears' conservatorship is on the books for July 31st (this Thursday), but we're not sure if this new development will change the need for the hearing.

Britney is currently on vacation in Mexico. We're not sure when she's due back, but it was expected that she would return by tomorrow, a day ahead of the hearing.

Stay tuned!

We'll bring you more info as soon as we have it!

Desperate Britney Spears 'Spends £11,000 A Month' To Get Back In Shape

The following italicized article is from www.dailymail.co.uk:

Britney Spears has lost a stone in recent months - but it certainly hasn't come cheap.

The star signed up to a £11,000-a-month diet and exercise regime after her bloated tummy sparked pregnancy rumours earlier this year, according to a report.

The mother-of-two, who eagerly showed off her slimmed down bikini body during a trip to Mexico over the weekend, is back to 9st after the stress of her custody battle saw her tip the scales at 10st 4lbs.

Her expensive heath make-over included £5,000-a-month on a nutritionist and diet supplements, £4,000 on a personal trainer and £2,000 on a private dance choreographer.

A source was quoted in Closer magazine as saying: 'She limits herself to 1400 calories a day with one 'cheat day' where she'll treat herself.'

'She also changed the way she eats, trying to have only two thirds of what is on her plate. It's all about portion control and fresh food now. And lots of water in place of Red Bull.'

She has also taken on some of Victoria Beckham's diet tips, eating plenty of steamed fish and snacking on edamame beans.

Britney also endures intensive work-outs with Pussycat Dolls' personal trainer James Van Daff as well as three-hour dance classes six times a week.

The source added: 'Britney piled on a lot of weight earlier this year. She was sho stressed about the custody case and her medication for her bipolar disorder also made her put on weight. She was tired of being flabby and wanted to do something about it.

Now, says the insider: 'Britney is so proud of herself because her ab muscles are back'.

'She's feeling better than she has in ages.'

Britney Spears Takes A Holiday

Our dear Britney Spears has decided to flee the country, at least for the weekend, and was spotted in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico bikini-clad and basking in the sun. She was also photographed enjoying an impromptu poolside dance with a handsome stranger … after the week she’s had (agreeing to settle her 2-year long custody battle with ex-hubby Kevin Federline) she was prolly in the mood for a little vacay:
With her custody drama with Kevin Federline finally over, Britney Spears is back in shape and ready for fun. The pop star escaped to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico for a sunshine holiday with a group of friends, including longtime pal George Maloof, who owns the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. After slipping into a skimpy white bikini, the singer flirted up a storm with another male companion, giggling as the pair danced around the pool arm-in-arm. And for posterity … a female friend caught all the action on a video camera. The party later moved to the beach, where Britney frolicked on the foreshore before cooling her heels in the sea. The star is making the most of her free time after officially agreeing to give her ex husband Kevin Federline sole custody of the couple’s two sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1.

I, for one, think it’s a great idea for her to get away for a bit and to get in some relaxation time. I imagine it wasn’t very easy for her to decide to end the custody battle with K-Fed but, it is my contention, that her compliance is part of a bigger plan to one day win back physical custody of her children. Without going out into my guesswork again, I’ll just say that Britney is finally seeing the bigger picture and is working for a lasting resolution that will hopefully work in her favor one day. In the meantime, she deserves a vacay holiday … and with a handsome gent, to boot. Good for her. I’m deffo in her corner.

Rumors continue to swirl concerning her possible appearance at the 2008 MTV VMAs in September … I pray she does make a triumphant return. If so, she will deffo do it right this time, I just know it :)

Bikini Britney Tangos Poolside With A Mystery Man In Mexico

The following italicized article is from www.dailymail.co.uk:

After slipping into a skimpy white bikini, the singer flirted up a storm with another male companion, giggling as the pair danced around the pool arm-in-arm.

And for posterity - or perhaps another disastrous reality show - a female friend caught all the action on a video camera.

The party later moved to the beach, where Britney frolicked on the foreshore before cooling her heels in the sea.

The star is making the most of her free time after officially agreeing to give her ex husband Kevin Federline sole custody of the couple's two sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1.

She is currently allowed two visits and one overnight per week in the settlement.

In good news for the troubled 26-year-old, she has just been nominated in online voting for best female video for her Piece of Me at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards.

She'll go up against Katy Perry for I Kissed a Girl, Jordin Sparks for No Air, Rihanna for Take a Bow, and Mariah Carey for Touch My Body nominees for Best Female Video.

It's unclear if Britney will make an appearance at show on Sept. 7 at Paramount studios in L.A.

Of course, the awards ceremony was the scene of her shambolic performance of Gimme More in 2007.

The show's producers are said to be hesitant to let her perform again, with a source adding:

'They are going to leave it up until the week before to decide. But they can only advise her - Brit will do her own thing.'

The singer is also focusing on making another album this year.

Her reinstated manager Larry Rudolph announced this month: 'Britney is spending her summer in the recording studio, working on a brand new album.

'She's working with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters, and we're very excited about what she's accomplished so far. No album release date has been confirmed yet.'

Following her two well-document visits to hospital this year, Rudolph says Britney is finally getting back on track.

'She's got people around her that really care about her and are there to point her in the right direction in respect to the things she should be concentrating on - her life.'

Britney Nominated For A VMA

The following italicized article is from www.accesshollywood.com:

Get ready — Britney Spears is coming back to the VMAs.

A year after her controversial performance at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, the pop star has been nominated for Best Female Video for “Piece of Me” at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, MTV announced on Friday.

“Piece of Me” joins Mariah Carey’s “Touch My Body,” Jordin Sparks’ “No Air,” Rihanna’s “Take a Bow” and Katy Perry’s chart-topping summer hit “I Kissed A Girl” in the category, which was voted on by online fans and industry insiders.

Nominees for Best Male Video were also announced, ranging from R&B club jams to hip-hop hits. They include Usher’s “Love in This Club,” Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop,” Chris Brown’s “With You,” Flo Rida’s “Low” and T.I.‘s “No Matter What.”

Meanwhile, online voting has begun for Best Pop Video and Best Hip-Hop Video, with Best Dancing in a Video, Best New Artist, Best Rock Video and Video of the Year on deck.

The Pussycat Dolls On Britney’s Deleted Video Cameo: ‘We Love Her!’

The following italicized article is from www.accesshollywood.com:

Britney Spears’ reported cameo may not have made it into the Pussycat Dolls’ video for “When I Grow Up,” but in an exclusive interview with Access Hollywood, the Dolls say Brit wasn’t to blame.

“It’s not a secret,” the pop quintet’s Melody Thornton told Access. “There are a lot of things that you do that don’t necessarily make the video and that didn’t, for whatever reason.”

“She came out, she did a cameo,” added lead singer Nicole Scherzinger, though Melody noted that Britney didn’t work directly with the Pussycat Dolls. According to VH1, in Britney’s deleted scene, she drove a car, waved at the Dolls in traffic and looked “hot and blonde.”

There are definitely no hard feelings from the five Dolls, who hope to work with the singer again.

“We love her, we’re all huge fans of Britney, always have been,” Scherzinger said. “We totally support her. Not everything makes the final cut but we want to do something with her in the future.”

“I was personally bummed because I really like Britney,” added Jessica Sutta, before declaring, “So Britney, if you’re watching, we want you!”

Spears Can Regain Health After Custody Battle

The following italicized article is from www.pr-inside.com:

BRITNEY SPEARS is "thrilled" her custody battle with KEVIN FEDERLINE is over - because she can now concentrate on "getting better".

Federline and Spears finally agreed on the custody of their two sons, Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, during a hearing at Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday (25Jul08).

Spears was ordered to increase her monthly child support by $5,000 (£2,500).

There were no amendments to Spears’ visitation rights - she currently enjoys three days and one night a week with her sons.

But Spears’ attorney Laura Wasser says the singer is delighted with the agreement - because her sons inspire her to improve her mental health.

Wasser tells People.com, "She’s thrilled. To have more time with her kids has been her motivation to get well. In light of her outstanding conservatorship, she couldn’t have asked for anything more."

Spears was admitted to Los Angeles psychiatric clinic earlier this year (Jan08). Doctors said the 26-year-old was no longer a danger to herself since being admitted and treated for her increasingly erratic behaviour.

I'll Make Brit A Hit

The following italicized article is from www.sundaymail.co.uk:

BRITNEY SPEARS will be the biggest star in the world next year - according to the man who is penning songs for her new album.

British producer, songwriter and chart star Taio Cruz, 23, is working on songs for the fallen idol.

Taio believes Britney will once again conquer the world - and that she was forced into recording her last album too soon.

He told Email: "I have been writing and producing tracks for the new Britney record but as always with her, I'm not allowed to talk about the sound.

"Her career is riding on this record so I need to sit down and talk to her to make sure she is ready.

"The songs will be good - she has Kanye, Pharrell, Timbaland and me doing tracks for her.

"It is more a matter of whether she is mentally and physically ready for this. On the last album, Blackout, she was tired and people were forcing her to put another album out.

"If she is ready it will be huge - she just came with Blackout too early."

Taio notched up a hit album with his debut Departure this year and shot to superstar status as a songwriter and producer.

He said: "I am working with Shayne Ward, Leona Lewis, The Sugababes, Britney, Justin,
Anastasia...quite a few really. I have no idea when I'll have time to work on my own stuff.

"I can't do anything too out there or it will scare people off. I am only starting my second album - Justin Timberlake did five before he started doing what he wanted. Britney did loads of pop before she started doing cool stuff."

Taio loves working with Timberlake.

"He likes to do what people won't expect so the two of us listen to sounds from all over the world.
"We have a few ideas. It could even be bagpipes - I used them in a track ages ago, a nice sample over an R&B beat.

They could pop up on a Britney or Justin album."

Taio plays Glasgow's ABC 2 on August 13 and his new single She's Like A Star is out on August 18.
