Brit and K-Fed: Will They Fight or Settle?

The following italicized article is from www.tmz.com:

The Brit/K-Fed child custody saga has been postponed, and we here at TMZ smell something.

The lawyers were supposed to yak it up in court tomorrow morning. They were planning on talking about next month's trial over custody. A trial seems weird, because there's a conservatorship in place and it doesn't seem kosher to duke it out in custody court, at least now.

But here's the clue. Tomorrow's hearing has been rescheduled for Friday. When cases get postponed like that, there's a chance the lawyers are trying to settle it and buy more time.

Stay tuned.

What The Future Holds For Britney

The following italicized article os from www.x17online.com:

On July 31st, Jamie Spears' conservatorship over his daughter Britney - in which he's being paid $2500 a week! - is set to expire...

Is Britney Better?

It's been a long time coming! Jamie has been in charge of Brit's affairs, everything from medical to legal, for about six months now. And in that time, Brit looks to have gotten a lot better! Check her out in the pix above from this weekend, shopping and getting dinner with her mom Lynne... what do you think, has her health improved?

Catch-22

Problem is, whether or not the conservatorship expires or is extended will mean a double-edged sword for Britney. If the judge continues Jamie Spears' control over his daughter's estate, this might better secure Brit's visitation with her two boys (right now, she has overnight visitation with Sean Preston and Jayden James).

BUT, if Brit is indeed deemed well enough for the conservatorship to expire, that might have a negative effect in her custody battle with ex Kevin Federline... will she risk losing her visitation rights with the kids? Will the judge not rule in her favor then? We hope not!

The Restraining Order

There's also the matter of Brit's former BFF Sam Lutfi, who is to remain 250 yards away from the pop star at all times due to the restraining order against him...
The hearing for this is set for July 31st as well. Talk about a busy day for our girl Brit! How do you think it'll all go down?

Britney Shops for Baby Maddie

The following italicized article is from www.eonline.com:

Aunt Britney is taking her new title seriously.

The singer went shopping at the True Religion Warehouse with her mom Lynne on Friday—and Jamie Lynn's little girl was first and foremost on her mind.

Britney specifically picked out items for her new niece, Maddie Briann, from the toddler collection. Everything from T-shirts and hoodies to jeans for the little girl, a source tells E! News. She also selected some similar clothes in boys' styles for Sean Preston and Jayden James.

For herself, Spears picked up tank tops, T-shirts and jeans, to name a few. She loved True Religion's new puffy jackets for fall, scooping up a vest and a hooded jacket, both in red. She also liked the headwear—she chose some baseball hats as well as a winter-weight fedora.

"She was very happy," says the source. "She loved trying everything on. She looked great."

According to a source, Britney did not mention Madonna or the video shoot she's been busy with. She was focused on shopping and was very gracious.

"They had a great time—they thanked us when they left," a source tells E! News. "They were very polite and sweet."

After shopping, Britney and mother Lynne headed to ABH, the new rooftop hot spot at the Thompson Beverly Hills Hotel. The mother-daughter duo munched on sushi rolls and sipped soft drinks from Bond St., the restaurant downstairs, along with an assistant and bodyguard.

"Britney was very mellow, normal, grateful and sweet to staff," an onlooker tells us.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline reach custody agreement?

The following italicized article os from www.nowmagazine.co.uk:

Former couple to put proposal to court tomorrow.

Britney Spears and ex husband Kevin Federline are said to have agreed to share care of their sons.

Last month the judge overseeing their custody case asked the former couple to try to reach a settlement between themselves.

And now insiders claim that Britney, 26, and K-Fed, 30, will put forward their proposal to LA Superior Court at a private hearing tomorrow.

‘Commissioner Alan Gordon told Britney and Kevin to mediate a deal to avoid the nightmare of a trial,’ says a source. ‘It seems they’ve done that and it all now hinges on whether the judge agrees with what they put to him.’

It's hoped he will accept that Britney is well enough to look after Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 21 months.

‘She’s in terrific spirits and is extremely hopeful that the judge will allow her to become a proper mum again,’ the source tells the Daily Star Sunday.

‘She believes she’s within sight of being the woman she once was and wants to rebuild her life as well as her career.'

6 months after near self-destruct, Britney Spears is all about music & kids

The following italicized article is from www.nydailynews.com:

Six months ago she was forcibly strapped to a stretcher and placed on psychiatric hold in two different hospitals.

A judge cut off all contact with her two toddler sons.

Her "Blackout" album failed to go platinum as a deafening papaparazzi circus took the place of actual promotion.

It seemed like an irreversible slide destined to end in tragedy. That was then.

Six months later, a feisty and focused Britney Spears is putting her life back together.

"She's the best I've seen her in three years," a well-placed source in Britney's camp told the Daily News. "She has her kids back now and she's working on a new album. Hopefully it will be out by the end of the year."

Britney, 26, isn't stopping with music. She's reading TV treatments and looking to executive produce a show in the same vein as Ashton Kutcher or Randy Jackson, the source said.

"It has to be organic to her, maybe something related to music or fashion," the source said.

As for acting, she's shopping for a supporting role in a romantic comedy to follow up her well-received cameo on CBS' "How I Met Your Mother," the source said. She also stepped in front of the camera last week when she taped a video short for the stage show of Madonna's upcoming "Sticky & Sweet" tour.

"These are baby steps. She's taking every opportunity to see her kids, and the last thing she'll do is tour for three months or take the lead in a feature and be away from them again," the source said. "Maybe she'll go out on tour after the new year, but something short."

Last month a judge reinstated Britney's overnight visits with Jayden James, 1, and Sean Preston, 2, after she patched things up with divorce lawyer Laura Wasser and made a "businesslike" court appearance opposite ex-husband Kevin Federline.

"The overnight visits are great positive reinforcement for her. She almost has the equivalent of one-third custody back, and being able to care for them is enormously helpful to her progress," another source close to the singer said.

A custody trial is set for next month, and Britney remains under a court-ordered conservatorship run by dad, Jamie Spears, at least until July 31.

It was Jamie and Britney's once-estranged mom, Lynne, who swooped in last January, won a restraining order against mock manager Sam Lutfi and brought Larry Rudolph, who discovered Britney at 13 and built her career, back into the fold.

Now the paparazzi who snapped the minutiae of her meltdowns are filing photos of Britney hitting the gym, working on her sixth album or vacationing with fellow rehabber Mel Gibson, another client of her powerhouse criminal lawyer Blair Berk.

"She's a true professional in the studio. She's very focused, and she stays as long as it takes to get the job done," said songwriter James (Jim Beanz) Washington, who's collaborating with Britney and mega-producer Nate (Danjahandz) Hills on the new Jive Records album.

Experts say a triumphant comeback is possible if Britney stays focused.

"We heard all this talk of a comeback last year, but she wasn't committed. She seemed committed to becoming a train wreck, not the beloved pop star," said Morris Reid of Washington image consultancy Westin Rinehart.

"We know this woman is talented. And who knows, maybe all the pain is both a curse and a gift," he said. "Difficult times are when some artists create their best work. She could use her music to express her feelings right now. And we all know people are interested in Britney's feelings
