Britney: New, 'More Urban' Album Due In '09

The following italicized article is from www.billboard.com:

Britney Spears says her next Jive album will be out in between six and nine months and that "I think it is more urban," she says in an interview with OK! Magazine. "I'm writing every day, right here at the piano in this living room. This is my best work ever."

Last month, Jive said Spears was working "with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters" that it did not name, but JR Rotem, Sean Garrett, Guy Sigsworth, Danja and Bloodshy & Avant have all independently revealed that they're contributing to the as-yet-untitled project.

The new album will be the follow-up to last year's "Blackout," which has sold 887,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

"Blackout" was largely overshadowed by Spears' tabloid-fodder personal life and her disastrous performance of the single "Gimme More" during the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas.

As reported yesterday, Spears may wind up appearing at the upcoming VMAs and is already appearing in promo ads for the event next month.

Britney Spears Shows Off Her Boys In ‘OK!’ Magazine

This week’s issue of OK! magazine which features Britney Spears on the cover, along with her first proper interview in about 2 years, doesn’t hit newsstands until this Thursday but here is a sneak preview of one of the pics of Britters and her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James that will be featured in the issue:
OY! While I can do without the family’s insane love of Cheetos, I can’t help but love the adorableness of this photo. While haters and nay-sayers will prolly find plenty to make fun of in this pic, I think you can see the genuine care and love that Britney has for her children (even if their nutritional care isn’t of paramount importance … I keed, I keed). Some folks think it might be too early to start celebrating Britney’s “return” just because of one lucid interview but I disagree … I think that Britney has shown time and time again over the past few months that she really does have her act together. This interview is but the latest positive step forward in her life. I will happily celebrate and commend her every step of the way. As much as I love this pic, you gotta admit, little Jayden looks a bit out of it (the first thing I thought of when I saw JJ’s expression in this pic was THIS) … he’s a damn cutie tho. Again, I’m really excited to read this interview in full … and I want to see the rest of the pics.

Full OK! Interview

What's a typical day for you with Preston and Jayden?
Well, when I have my children, I'll get up and make them pancakes.

Blueberry or plain?
Plain pancakes, with sausages. Then we'll go outside and take a walk. Then I like to do something physical with them, like swimming. Nap time is 1-3pm, and then I'll read to them.

What do you read?
The Berenstain Books, and anything with cars in it, too.

Are they both into cars?
Yes, big time. I've watched the Cars movie nine million times.

What are some of the games you like to play with the boys?
We don't really play games. We love to read books and do artwork. And they're outside a lot in their little cars.

Do you sing to the boys?
I do. I actually wrote a song for my new album about them called "My Baby". It's a real beautiful song.

Do the boys sing?
Yes. I'll start, and they'll join in.

Have you taught them to swim?
They both jump in the water. Well, JJ almost jumps in. Preston will jump in, and then JJ thinks he can but then he jumps to me and screams, 'mommy, mommy, mommy,' the whole time.

Do the boys share a room here?
They have separate rooms upstairs by my room.

Are the boys getting into how they look?
Preston is. He wants his shirt and shoes. He'll tell me what he wants to wear.

What are you doing for their birthdays?
I want to have a traditional party, a joint party for both of them. I have some friends with kids who I am going to invite. There will probably be about 15 or 20 of us. There is going to be homemade ice cream. Probably my dad will make that. We'll have the jumpers and bouncers.

How do you feel about your boys getting into the entertainment business?
If they want to do it, and if they are talented enough, I would support them. But they'd have to express an interest on their own.

Would you like to see them pursue it?
I'd rather not, but I'd love them unconditionally if they wanted to. I'd just as soon they have a more normal childhood.

Do you cook a lot?
I do. Usually, the maid and I will cook together.

What's your house specialty?
I love rice and baked chicken. We'll cook that together, and the kids love my spaghetti. I think for some reason they like my spaghetti better than what they have at their dad's house.

What's special about Mom's spaghetti?
I think it's my sauce. I make it with love, and I make it from scratch.

Alright-- recipe time. We all want to know.
I can't share my secret with you. But it just takes me about an hour.

Do you watch much television?
Actually I don't. I'm so busy. And when the kids are here, I like them to be outside doing things or we're reading together.

What about How I Met Your Mother, the show you appeared on twice?
No. I just don't watch TV. We get a movie every now and then.

Can you go to the movies?
Sometimes I do. We just went to see Mamma Mia. I thought it was kind of silly. I saw Hancock, which I loved.

Besides taking care of the boys, what's most important to you?
Recording. Going into the studio.

Do you still do your own housework?
Oh yes. I get mad if the maid does all the work. If she takes it all into her own hands, well, what's there for me to do? I'm a cleaning fanatic. Dusting is my favorite, and Windex-ing.

Have you always been that way?
Yes, since I was littler. I was brought up by my mama cleaning the house all the time.

What are you listening to now?
I really like Rihanna. I think she's great. And the girl Duffy. I think she's amazing. I like the new Madonna CD. I like Leona Lewis too.

Will you see Madonna in concert?
Yes, in November when she's here in LA.

What are your fashion must haves?
My True Religion jeans. I love them so much. That's what I have on. They're so comfortable they are almost like sweats. They fit like a glove.

Whats your relationship like with your mom these days?
It's really, really good. I went through a stage in high school when it wasn't so good, but now I'm at a stage where I really appreciate her a lot more.

What's your relationship like with your dad these days?
It's really good.

How was it visiting your sister Jamie Lynn when she had her baby Maddie?

That was special, but it was also strange because she's always been the baby, and now the baby was having a baby. It was mind-boggling. I was shocked a little bit. But it was really cool, and she was happy. When she got to the hospital, we all thought it was going to be an all day thing, and instead, the baby just popped out. Okay, we're happy now!

Will you visit again soon?
She's going to come out here for the kids' birthdays. It will be the first time the cousins meet. I'm sure the boys will be like big brothers to Maddie.

Tell us about the new album
I think it is more urban. I'm working with producers who are just amazing. It's Harvey Mason of The Underdogs. There is this fresh new energy.

Have you ever written that much of an album before?
Never this much. I'm writing every day, right here at the piano in this living room.

What do you want to say with this album?
That this is my best work ever. That's a very ambitious undertaking.

What will make it the best?
Hard work, I guess.

Is the album going to seem more grown up than your previous work?
Definitely. The image factor to it is a little bit older, too. The videos will be very different.

When is it coming out?
In the next six to nine months.

You received great reviews for your appearances on How I Met Your Mother. Do you want to do more acting?
I'd love to, if I can find the right movie.I

s there anything in the works?
Actually, I have a part that just came up. We're just trying to work it out with my schedule, with the children.

Could you imagine yourself getting into fashion design?
If I had the right team around me, definitely. We're looking into it, it could happen. Probably women's clothes first and then go into children's.

How would you make your line stand out?
I'd want it to be original. I'd probably come up with themes, like an 80's theme.

Where do you see yourself career wise, going out many years from now?
I want to have a lot of amazing albums under my belt, and some great movie roles.

What do you want your fans to know about where you are at right now?
I'm healthy, happy, and excited about the future.

Britney Spears Says New Album Is Her 'Best Work Ever,' Describes Shock Of Jamie Lynn's Pregnancy

A year after a disastrous attempt at an interview, during which she reportedly acted erratically and stormed out wearing thousands of dollars in designer clothes, Britney Spears has given OK! magazine another shot in a revealing chat that hits newsstands on Thursday.

In excerpts from the interview provided to MTV News, Spears said that her in-process album is the best one she's ever recorded, describes her surprise at baby sister Jamie Lynn's pregnancy and reveals her hopes for her two young sons. (Hint: They don't involve show business.)

"I think it is more urban. I'm working with producers who are just amazing," Spears said of the as-yet-untitled album, which she predicted would come out within the next six to nine months, and which will include songs produced by the Underdogs (Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake). "There is this fresh new energy."

Spears said she's written more for this album than any other in her career and that she spends time at the piano in her living room every day, working on songs. "This is my best work ever," she said of the album's message.

The interview comes at a time when Spears finally appears to be gaining a measure of control over a personal life that had spiraled into chaos. After becoming a staple of the tabloids with her bizarre public outings and messy personal life — which included two forced hospitalizations earlier this year for mental evaluations — Spears has seemingly settled down in the past six months, recently settling her custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline and gaining more time with her sons, Preston and Jayden James.

Given her tumultuous rise to the top and scrape near the bottom, the 26-year-old Spears said she's not sure if she'd like to see the boys follow in her child-star path. "I'd rather not, but I'd love them unconditionally if they wanted to," she said. "I'd just as soon they have a more normal childhood."

Though Quentin Tarantino has thrown water on the rumors that Spears might take the lead role in his reportedly in-the-works remake of "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!," the singer said her positive reviews for appearances on "How I Met Your Mother" have made her think about acting more. "I'd love to, if I can find the right movie," she said, adding that an opportunity just came up (she wouldn't reveal specifics). "We're just trying to work it out with my schedule, with the children."

Spears also opened up about the conflicted feelings she had about seeing her younger sister, 17-year-old "Zoey 101" star Jamie Lynn Spears, give birth to her first child, Maddie. "That was special, but it was also strange, because she's always been the baby, and now the baby was having a baby," Spears said. "It was mind-boggling. I was shocked a little bit. But it was really cool, and she was happy."

The cover story also features an interview with Spears' dad, Jamie Spears, who has been serving as the co-conservator of her estate since February 1. Jamie Spears said the decision last month to give Federline full custody of the boys was reached as a means of avoiding a full trial.

"Britney and Kevin wanted to settle, but there were issues of how much time we wanted, and there was an upcoming court hearing scheduled," he explained. It made no sense to go to trial, so the couple reached a temporary agreement. Jamie said that Britney might gain an additional overnight with the boys by October 1, but the custody agreement will remain otherwise unchanged until the end of the year, or until the conservatorship ends.

Jamie described Federline as having a "wonderful heart," but said he's not happy about the aspiring rapper getting a bump up in his monthly payments to $20,000 as a result of the custody agreement. The goal, he said, is for the couple eventually to have joint custody of the children.

Jamie also said that the conservatorship will be reevaluated in December and, depending on where Britney is at the time, it could end then. Asked if he feared that his daughter could fall back into the destructive pattern she was in before he was named co-conservator, Jamie answered, "If it ends when it is supposed to, no."

Britney Spears Talks To ‘OK!’ Magazine

At long last, Britney Spears finally sits down for her first real interview in 2 years in order to give some insight on her life from her own perspective. We’ve heard things about her life from various other outside sources but even the stuff we got from the people closest to her in her inner circle cannot equal the sort of insight that can be gleaned from her own words. Last year, Britney disastrously tried to do an interview with OK! magazine and we all know how that turned out … this week, Brit Brit really sits down with OK! magazine and gives an interview the magazine proclaims is not to be missed:

From her nasty divorce and custody battle to her now-infamous performance at the 2007 VMAs to the dark period under the control of “manager” Sam Lutfi, it’s safe to say that the last two years were not the best in the young life of Britney Spears. And now, one year after an erratic and distracted Brit stormed out of an OK! photoshoot, a very different woman sits down to talk openly about her two adorable sons, her father and the future of her nearly sidetracked career. Having spent her young life in the spotlight, the 26-year-old mother of two tells OK! that she hopes her boys choose not to choose a career in entertainment. “I’d love them unconditionally if they wanted to,” she explains. “I’d just as soon they have a more normal childhood.” Perhaps some of Britney’s reluctance comes from seeing her little sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, have to face so much public scrutiny over her recent pregnancy. “I was shocked a little bit,” says Brit. “She’s always been the baby, and now the baby was having a baby. It was mind-boggling.” The pop superstar also tells OK! that she wants her boys to be close to her newborn niece. “I’m sure the boys will be like big brothers to Maddie,” she says. In an unexpected twist, Britney’s downward spiral in recent years ultimately helped to heal the bonds between the singer and her parents, Lynne and Jamie Spears. “God has a way of taking something bad and turning it into something good,” explains Jamie, who also spoke exclusively to OK!. “If this hadn’t happened, I would never have been able to get back with my daughter and have this relationship I have with these two little boys.” Another positive that’s risen out of her darkest days is Britney’s new album, which she expects to hit stores in six to nine months. “I think it is more urban,” she tells OK!. “I’m writing every day, right here at the piano in this living room … This is my best work ever.”

OMG OMG OMG … she sounds great! I dreamed of the day that Britney Spears would get her life back in order and not just look like she is doing better but really actually get better. Everything that we’ve seen in the past few months has really gone on to prove that she has actually gotten her life back in order. I can’t *wait* to read this interview. I cannot even tell you how pleased I am to hear her sounding so well. And she’s doing it properly … little by little, bit by bit … not rushing into things too fast, not giving 45 interviews at once … she’s taking her time and taking care of biz. Welcome back, Britney! We’ve missed you something awful :)

Brit Does Some Body Work While Her Bodyguard Needs Some Body Work!

The following italicized article is from www.x17online.com:

Brit headed over to the gym yesterday at the Ritz in Marina del Rey, as she likes to do, wearing her new Sean/Jayden family jewels necklace, as she likes to do.

Then, after a little sweaty fun, Britney headed to a studio in Hollywood when her b-guard hit another car while driving Brit's Escalade! Britney was actually following in another car, so she was totally uninvolved -- and there were no injuries (we'll have pix and video coming shortly). But it looks like Queen B has some more body work to do now!

Maybe Brit's dad will give her some of that money from OK! to pay off her car repair bills!

Britney Spears Speaks: Pop Star Talks Sister's Pregnancy, New Music & More

Britney Spears has opened up about the shock of her teenage sister's pregnancy, her new album, and future acting plans, in a new interview with OK! magazine.

Plus, the pop star's father, Jamie Spears, offers an update on the conservatorship over Britney's estate and what he really thinks of her ex, Kevin Federline.

In excerpts from the article, Britney, in her first sit down interview in almost two years, spoke about her reaction to Jamie Lynn Spears' pregnancy at 16. Britney traveled to her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana, for the birth of her niece by the now 17-year-old Jamie Lynn, and while she was thrilled with little baby Maddie, she was taken aback.

"That was special, but it was also strange because she's always been the baby, and now the baby was having a baby. It was mind-boggling. I was shocked a little bit," Britney told OK! "But it was really cool, and she was happy. When she got to the hospital, we all thought it was going to be an all-day thing, and instead, the baby just sort of popped out. OK, we're happy now!"

Britney said Jamie Lynn will be bringing baby Maddie to Los Angeles soon, allowing the newborn to finally meet her cousins - Sean Preston, and Jayden James.

"She's going to come out here for the kids' birthdays. It will be the first time the cousins meet. I'm sure the boys will be like big brothers to Maddie," Britney told the mag.

Britney also provided an update on her new album, the follow up to last year's "Blackout," which will be out in "the next six to nine months," the pop star said.

"I'm writing every day, right here at the piano in this living room," Brit told OK! "This is my best work ever."

Britney said she is working with talented people who are helping her take her songs up a level.
"I think it is more urban. I'm working with producers who are just amazing. It's Harvey Mason of The Underdogs," she noted. "There is this fresh new energy. "

And it's not just music Britney is working on. She confirmed she is interested in doing more acting, following her successful appearance on "How I Met Your Mother," which helped the show achieve its best ever ratings.

"I'd love to, if I can find the right movie," Brit said when asked about continuing her thespian streak. "Actually, I have a part that just came up. We're just trying to work it out with my schedule, with the children."

Though it was unclear from the excerpts released at press time by OK! whether Britney addressed her hospitalizations of early 2008, her run ins with the paparazzi or the conservatorship protection she is under until the end of October, her father and co-conservator, Jamie Spears, provided some answers to OK!

Jamie said the conservatorship of his daughter will come to a close, though he hopes it will last just a bit longer, for Britney's sake.

"I would hope it stands until the end of the year, and then we'll sit back and evaluate where we are at that time, where Britney is at that time," he said.

The conservatorship reunited father and daughter, who in the past had moments where they were estranged from one another.

"It's wonderful," he said of their relationship. "It is new for both of us. She sometimes calls me 50 times a day and asks me things that light my life up. But like all daughters, she is very manipulative and cunning. So she gets what she wants a lot."

Jamie also said that despite the troubles that previously affected the pop star, there was a silver lining - their new relationship and his relationship with his grandsons.

"God has a way of taking something bad and turning it into something good," Jamie told OK! "If this hadn't happened, I would never have been able to get back with my daughter and have this relationship I have with these two little boys."

In related news, Jamie also explained why Britney and her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, settled their custody dispute over their two children, without going to trial.

"Britney and Kevin wanted to settle The trial that was coming up was for permanent custody. It made no sense for that trial to proceed so we worked out an agreement. The agreement says that on Oct. 1 we'll probably get another overnight, and that will stay in place until the end of the year or the end of the conservatorship," he said.

As for how Jamie feels about Kevin, he offered a mixed answer.

"Kevin has a wonderful heart. I don't agree with giving him more money," Jamie said.

First Interview: Britney Spears on Her Boys

The following italicized article is from www.etonline.com:

Britney Spears opened up to the media for the first time in two years in a candid interview in which she talks about her road to recovery and life today with her sons. On tonight's ET, we have a sneak peek of the OK! magazine cover story that is on newsstands this week.

"When I have my children, I'll get up and make them pancakes," she tells OK!, which has photographs of Britney's refrigerator covered with artwork done by her sons. But it wasn't always happy times.

Britney's fall from grace was a big one: Her divorce from Kevin Federline, her custody battles over sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, as well as the many painful events -- such as shaving her head and being rushed to the hospital -- caught by the glaring lights of the paparazzi.

The road back for the pop star began when her father was named co-conservator of his daughter's estate, and things have been looking up ever since. Britney has her sons on Mondays, Wednesdays and overnight on Fridays -- and her father Jamie Spears is with her at all times when she has the boys. Otherwise, he has his own home in Santa Monica.

"Right now, everything is okay," Jamie says. "I just don't know what six months from now will bring, or three months. But as it is right now, the conservatorship is doing exactly what it is supposed to do. This is the way I live, one day at a time."

Today, Britney is healthy and has returned to work. Her appearances on "How I Met Your Mother" were ratings bonanzas for the CBS series, she is back in the recording studio working on her next album, and she took time out to visit her family -- and meet her niece -- in Louisiana.

"That was special, but it was also strange because she's always been the baby, and now the baby was having a baby. It was mind-boggling. I was shocked a little bit. But it was really cool, and she was happy. When she got to the hospital, we all thought it was going to be an all-day thing, and instead, the baby just sort of popped out. Okay, we're happy now!"

Britney Wants Her Kids To Stay Out Of Showbiz

The following italicized article is from www.msnbc.com:

For the first time in two years, Britney Spears has given a cogent, lucid interview, one without behind-the-scenes or in-front-of-the-camera drama. From the living room of her house in Los Angeles, Spears talked to OK! magazine about her work (she’s recording a new album), being on hand when sister Jamie Lynn gave birth, and her sons’ future.

In what might be a revealing answer about her own childhood, Spears said that she doesn’t necessarily want her sons, Jayden and Preston, to pursue a career in the entertainment business. “I’d rather not,” Spears told OK!. “But but I’d love them unconditionally if they wanted to. I’d just as soon they have a more normal childhood.”

Spears’ father and conservator Jamie was also present for the interview. He’s proven to be press shy and reserved, but he took the opportunity to reveal the dynamic between Kevin Federline and the Spears family.

He says that in terms of custody, “Kevin is all for everything. He wants her to have 50/50 custody. He wants them to raise these kids together. Kevin’s heart is right.”

Jamie Spears also reveals that his relationship with Britney has improved, but at the end of the day she’s still capable of being manipulative to get her way. “It’s wonderful. (The relationship) is new for both of us. She sometimes calls me 50 times a day and asks me things that light my life up. But like all daughters, she is very manipulative and cunning. So she gets what she wants a lot.”
