The following italicized article is from www.eonline.com:The red carpet of the Video Music Awards was its own kind of eye popping spectacle, but during the show I couldn't take my eyes off Britney Spears. And I wasn't the only one, She had at least two bodyguards watching over her the whole time. At one point a fan tried to approach her but one of the guys gently told him to beat it.
Taylor Swift got better treatment, however, and just walked over to chat with Brit, who then posed for pics and gabbed with the Jonas Brothers. Britney gave a hug and kiss to her former bodyguard, Big Rob, who now works for the Jonas Brothers.
Even though Britney won her first VMA early in the show for best female video (and two more later) she seemed pretty mellow over all.
After the show, Britney took a walk through the lot to Stage 11 where the press was waiting for her. As she walked through, she was like the piper piper....press and fans were following her like mice...and more and more people kept joining the herd that was following her. If was a like a fairy tale, but one that ended abruptly.
One moment she was getting touched up in a make up mirror just outside the press area…and then she was gone, whisked into a photo-only area where no pesky questions could be asked.
Who could blame her for that (besides me, of course). She looked fab, kept it together and seems like she's getting her career back on the good foot.

Britney’s Comeback: Three VMAs!

And her fans were everywhere Sunday night. Haley Williams from Paramore saw Spears backstage and was overheard remarking to a bandmate, "Man, Britney looks really pretty."
Host Russell Brand seemed to stun the audience with his high-minded, political comedy, making jokes at the expense of President George Bush ("In England, George Bush wouldn't be trusted with a pair of scissors") and remarks about nominees the Jonas Brothers and their purity rings.
Second award of the night went to Chris Brown – best male video for his "With You" video.
One unique factor about this year's show: The diversity of performance spots. The Jonas Brothers offered a stripped down, acoustic version of their song "Love Bug" on a city street set, before launching into an electric finale on a stage that was mobbed by adoring teenage fans.
Rockers Paramore performed from legendary rock club Whisky A Go Go, but were bested by Linkin Park for best rock video honors.

"I'm speechless. Oh, my goodness, thank you!" an elated Spears told the crowd. "I first wanna thank God for blessing me like this. My family ... my two beautiful boys for inspiring me everyday."
She later took home the award for Best Pop Video, saying she was "speechless" and thanking her longtime manager, Larry Rudolph.
She closed out the night by winning Video of the Year.
"I'm in shock right now," she said. "I want to dedicate this to all my fans."

One More Time: Britney Returns To The MTV ‘VMAs’

The rebounding pop queen is hoping to complete a do-over of sorts as she kicks off Sunday’s awards ceremony, not with a performance, but with an appearance MTV Networks Music Group President Van Toffler has described as “fun and unexpected.”
If she manages to pull it off, Spears — who is up for three awards, including video of the year for “Piece of Me” — will come away with the most improved award after bombing in spectacular fashion at last year’s festivities in Las Vegas. Though heavily hyped as a comeback for a troubled diva in decline, Spears delivered one of the worst performances in VMA history, stumbling her way through her song “Gimme More” looking disheveled and disinterested.
But Spears comes into this year’s ceremony on an upswing: The disturbing behavior that defined her last year has dissipated, she’s working on a new album, and made well-received appearances on CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother” earlier this year.
At least one of her fellow celebrities is rooting for her to complete the comeback this time around.
“I wanna see Britney,” said actress Tori Spelling on the eve of the awards. “I think she’ll be great.”
Spears won’t be the only act of the night looking for a second chance after a disappointing VMA experience last year. Kanye West is expected to close the two-hour ceremony; in Vegas, he had a Kanye-sized hissy fit backstage and vowed never to appear at the VMAs again after he didn’t get a Moonman trophy despite being nominated several times. He also lashed out for being confined to performing at one of last year’s suite parties instead of on the main stage.
Kid Rock is looking to make headlines for his music instead of his fighting. The rocker wasn’t even a performer last year but became part of one of the most talked about moments of the ceremony when he got into a fight with fellow rocker Tommy Lee, also a fellow ex-husband of Pamela Anderson, in the audience. Though cameras did not capture the fight for viewers, it was the source of onstage fodder for the likes of Jamie Foxx and Diddy.
T.I. is another performer giving a noteworthy performance, since the last time he was due to perform at an awards show, he was arrested instead. T.I. was apprehended in October, shortly before the start of the BET Hip-Hop Awards, accused of trying to buy machine guns and silencers; he was sentenced earlier this year to serve about a year in prison after completing at least 1,000 hours of community service.
He is due to perform with Rihanna, who also appeared on last year’s show. But the dazzling singer is hardly in need of any second chances, coming into the VMAs as one of music’s hottest singers thanks to two No. 1 hits of the summer, “Take a Bow” and “Disturbia.”
Other performers slated for Sunday’s show include the Jonas Brothers, Lil Wayne, Christina Aguilera and Paramore and Katy Perry. Perry, who had one of the summer’s biggest songs with “I Kissed a Girl,” is slated to perform not only her own hit but a snippet of Madonna’s “Like A Virgin” as MTV pays tribute to some of its more memorable moments as it celebrates its 25th year.
“I’m just excited to have a great seat,” said the 23-year-old Perry. “I’m excited to change looks and to have fun … I’m excited to be a part of something that I would sneak over to my friend’s house and plan my whole week around.”
Presenters include Olympic darling Michael Phelps and “High School Musical” stars Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu.
The show will be held this year in Los Angeles, at Paramount Studios, where its various movie sets have the potential to be an interesting backdrop for the show and its performers. The show’s host for the evening is British comedian Russell Brand.

Britney has arrived at Paramount Studios with her bodyguard, and she was in quite a hurry! Shortly after Brit's arrival another car pulled up with more people and a bunch of bags! Just minutes ago on the loud speaker in the Paramount lot an MTV Representative came on and said last rehearsal is in three minutes....We will keep you posted..

Britney 'Getting Opportunity to Start Over' at VMAs

The pop star will again open MTV's Video Music Awards, which will broadcast live from Los Angeles's Paramount Studios on Sunday night (9 p.m. ET). But unlike last year, where Spears delivered a memorable (and critically derided performance, the pop star is not expected to perform on the show.)
"She gets an opportunity to start over again," hip-hop producer Jermaine Dupri told PEOPLE at Friday's TAG Records Official MTV VMA Kickoff party in Hollywood at Avalon. "A lot of people don't get a chance to do that again. I just hope she kills it."
And the man who's helped launch the careers of platinum artists TLC, Kris Kross and Da Brat added, "Last time, I didn't think her performance was that bad, but people ragged her so bad, then I saw the press."
So what will she do?
The singer's role on the show has been a tightly guarded secret. Regardless of how she fares live, Spears may just prove to be the talk of the night. That's because she's nominated for the show's top honor, video of the year, for "Piece of Me." The pop star has earned two other nominations, including best pop video and best female video – also for the same single. (If Spears wins, it will be her first "Moonman" despite 16 prior nominations.)
Also up for top honors are the ceremony: the Jonas Brothers (for "Burnin Up"), Chris Brown for "Forever," the Pussycat Dolls for "When I Grow Up" and the Ting Tings for "Shut Up and Let Me Go."
Nominees the Jonas Brothers will also perform on the show. They will join a starry group of singers, including Rihanna, who will take the stage with rapper T.I., and Pink, who will also grace the stage. "I Kissed A Girl" singer Katy Perry is expected to perform a cover of Madonna's "Like A Virgin" and Kid Rock will perform with rapper Lil Wayne. Kanye West will close out the evening with a performance.
Hosting this year is British comedian Russell Brand, known for his role a lothario musician Aldous Snow in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. But he will be joined onstage by Pete Wentz, who will act as a co-host of sorts. (Wentz's wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is expected to present on the show.)

Jonas Brothers: We Want to Meet Britney Spears at the Video Music Awards

The Jonas Brothers are excited about their first VMA performance.
"Everyone dreams of being on the Video Music Awards, so to be here is incredible," Kevin told Us. "It is always a new experience. Something brand new."
But Joe admitted he's afraid he'll trip as he walks up stairs during the performance of "Lovebug," their new single.
"When I have to walk up stairs, I am like, 'Oh No,'" he told Us. "I was like, 'Can I just have a jet pack or something?'"
Nick also revealed to Us their inspiration for the song.
"We wrote it from our hotel room [over] Christmas break of the Hannah Montana tour," he said. "We sat down and wrote it that night in about 15-20 minutes.
"Juno was one of our favorite movies at the time," Nick explained. "It was weird intimacy."
The song is about "when you fall in love with somebody and they break your heart, or you break their heart, however it ends," Nick said. "You think that's it forever and it is never going to happen again. That is until the 'Lovebug' hits you."
Kevin added, "For us, it is throwing any past inhibitions to the wind."
The Jonas Brothers are heading to London after the VMAs for the premiere of Camp Rock.

Hayley Williams: 'I Just Want To Shake Britney's Hand'

Brit's Mom Didn't Spill Beans

Here's the deal. That story has already been told and, by the way, it's true. Lutfi even told us what he meant was that no one cared about Britney and she'd be dead without him. And, for the record, we never bought Lufti's story.
As for the London Sun getting an advanced copy of Lynne Spears' book -- something's rotten in Denmark. The Sun has said the book claims Britney lost her virginity at 14 and started taking drugs at 15, etc. etc. We're told none of that appears in the book and it's more about Lynne being a heroic mom. For the record, we're not buying that either.

The article from Star claims that despite opposition from Britney, Kevin has quietly taken the boys to audition for TV and film projects around L.A. He "thinks it can be a good outlet for them," explains the source, because "Preston and Jayden are always singing and dancing around the house."
"They're total clowns, even at their toddler playgroup, Mr. Gym. Kevin feels it's okay as long as they are watched over carefully and not pushed into it." And right now, the kids are having a blast. Adds the source, "Kevin hops Britney will come around when she realizes how much fun they're having."

Britney Spears MTV Video Music Awards 2008 Backstage Demands
