Britney's Legal Team Fans Out

If it were her prerogative, you'd think Britney Spears would have downed her lingering legal woes faster than a Frappuccino.

But the wheels of justice move slowly and the pop princess has other things to concern her.

While Spears plots her latest comeback—her new album Circus is coming to town Dec. 2, her 22nd birthday—her army of lawyers deployed to various courthouses in Southern California today to attempt to tidy up her docket.

First up, attorneys representing Spears and her temporary conservatorship overseen in part by father Jamie turned up in downtown Los Angeles to meet behind closed doors to haggle over legal bills stemming from the case.

"Lawyers for [Britney] were in chambers for about an hour and a half. Two items were filed but sealed," a court clerk tells E! News.

No word on exactly what financial matters were being debated. The bills have piled up in recent months, however, with her lawyer, Laura Wasser, alone seeking as much as $100,000 for representing Spears during the last three months ($33, 037.19 for June and July and $60,075 for work performed in August).

Spears did not attend the session. The next court date in the matter is set for Sept. 25.

Nearly 20 miles away in Van Nuys, meanwhile, a pretrial hearing was scheduled with regard to her misdemeanor charge of driving with an invalid license.

Earlier this month, Superior Court Judge James A. Steele refused Spears' petition to dismiss the year-old charge, leaving the door open to a trial which could start as early as October.

Britney Spears Takes “Candy From Strangers”

Interestingly enough, the radio station 97.9 Kiss FM has the same song posted on their website at 979kissfm.com. An unofficial official leak, perhaps?

The song starts off like “Hot as Ice” from Britney’s latest album, Blackout. “Candy From Strangers” reportedly features Laze & Royal. Brit or not, the song sure is super catchy!

Earlier this week, her label Jive/Zomba announced that her first official single would be “Womanizer”, and will drop on Monday, Sept. 22.

Britney Spears Heads Off to the Dance Studio

She’s ready to take over the world of pop music following her big MTV VMA wins, and earlier today (September 16) Britney Spears was spotted on her way to work on her dance moves at a studio in Beverly Hills, California.

Meanwhile, a lawyer for the once-troubled pop tart is hard at work as he tries to get his “Gimme More” singing client out of a trial for misdemeanor driving without a license.

According to Access Hollywood reports, “Spears’ lawyer in the case, Michael Flanagan, said that he will file a petition on Thursday to ask the Superior Court of Los Angeles to accept their proof the star has a valid license. He wants the case dismissed and for Britney to be able to pay a $10 fee.”

During the incident, which happened to be a fender bender with a parked Mercedes back in August 2007, Flanagan tells that Spears was “driving with a Louisiana license that was valid because she owns homes in that state.”

The next hearing regarding Britney’s misdemeanor driving charge is scheduled to take place this Thursday (September 18).

Lawyer For Britney Spears To File Petition In Misdemeanor Driver’s License Case

A lawyer for Britney Spears is hoping to get the pop singer out of a trial for a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Spears’ lawyer in the case, Michael Flanagan, told Access Hollywood he will file a petition on Thursday to ask the Superior Court of Los Angeles to accept their proof the star has a valid license. He wants the case dismissed and for Britney to be able to pay a $10 fee.

The case stems from an August 2007 incident in which Spears was videotaped as she bumped another vehicle while parking her Mercedes-Benz. She left — without leaving a note — after looking over the damage to just her car from the fender-bender.

The owner of the other vehicle later filed a police report and Spears was charged a month later with misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving without a valid license. The hit-and-run charges were dismissed in October 2007 after Spears paid an undisclosed sum to the owner.

Flanagan has said that Spears was driving with a Louisiana license that was valid because she owns homes in that state.

The next hearing on the matter will occur this Thursday, September 18.

A Happy Spears Family Reunion

Today we get a whole slew of photos of almost the entire Spears clan (only big brother Bryan Spears is missing) happily enjoying quality time with one another … I must admit, these pics damn near bring a tear to my eye: POP star BRITNEY SPEARS looks to have put her troubles behind her as she relaxes with the whole family at a bash to celebrate her two sons’ birthdays. The Toxic singer’s eldest boy SEAN PRESTON turned three on Sunday, while JAYDEN JAMES celebrated his second birthday two days earlier. Britney, mum LYNNE, dad JAMIE, sister JAMIE LYNN and the teen’s newborn daughter MADDIE watched Sean and his brother driving their presents of electric cars at the star’s Los Angeles home … After reclaiming her gorgeous figure in the gym, she’s now gearing up to release her comeback album Circus in December. The collection, which is issued on her 27th birthday, features songs penned by some of the planet’s mightiest hit-makers. DR. LUKE, DANJA, MAX MARTIN, BLOODSHY & AVANT and GUY SIGSWORTH, who between them have composed chart-toppers for the likes of KATY PERRY, PINK, KYLIE MINOGUE and MADONNA, have all contributed tracks … Looks like it could be a very merry Christmas in the Spears household this year.

I know I say this all the time but I’m gonna keep on saying it … I am SO THRILLED at how much healing has taken place in the Spears family. Britney Court Update!

New Britney DVD: "Unbreakable?"

Does Britney have a new DVD coming out?

According to two large online shopping sites, Amazon.co.uk & Play.com, Britney is set to release a DVD late October!

The sites offer fans to pre-order the new DVD, titled "Unbreakable," currently priced at 8.24 euro and set to be released October 27, 2008.

Nova Sales & Distribtutions, the company dispersing the DVD, is described as "highly successful" and is now one of the leading Independent Music Distributors in the UK and Ireland. But when I went to talk to them, they talked about (philosopher) Noam Chomsky, the Federal Reserve, the worthlessness of the dollar - there was unbelievable awareness.
