X17 XCLUSIVE - IS BRITNEY CHANGING RECORD LABELS???!!!

The following italicized article is from www.x17online.com:

Looks like Britney's beach bummin' this weekend wasn't all fun and no work -- X17 has learned, XCLUSIVELY, that Brit was visiting with Geffen Records head honcho, David Geffen!!!!

What does this mean? Is Brit shopping for a new record label and preparing to drop her long-time publisher Sony/BMG's Jive/Zomba??? That would be HUGE!!!

Brit spent Sunday afternoon at Geffen's multi-million dollar Malibu beach home. David hosted Britney for at least an hour, according to our source, and then Brit hoofed it back to the Geffen-owned Malibu Beach Inn where she has stayed on occasion. We believe she spent Saturday night at the hotel and spent most of Sunday there.

Universal Music Group's VP, Paul Cooper (who is SO cool for calling me back) told me today, "I don't know anything about it." I can bet he's making some calls now, though! Calls to Geffen publicity have not yet been returned and we're still waiting to hear from Larry Rudolph and from Sony BMG/Jive Records ... we'll keep you posted!

And curiously, as we reported last Thursday, Brit shot a cameo for Pussycat Dolls' upcoming video last week and guess what label the Dolls are on? ... You got it -- Geffen (Interscope).

All of Britney's albums, since her debut, Baby One More Time ..., in 1999, have been on the Jive/Zomba label. She's sold approximately 182 million records with Jive in nine years. I can imagine that Sony would NOT be happy about losing her ...
