Britney Spears give sole custody to Kevin Federline. For now.

The following italicized article is from www.latimes.com:

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have reportedly reached a settlement in their acrimonious 1½-year-long court battle over custody of their two sons.

Federline has sole custody of Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1. And Spears keeps her current status of two visits and one overnight per week.

That's it? Hmm. Doesn't sound like much for Britney to celebrate.

"The case has been settled," Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told E! "The court still has to approve it."

Both parties are due in court today.

The legal battle began in 2007 with 50-50 custody.

But after Spears had her series of public meltdowns and was hospitalized twice for mental health problems, she lost custody and even visitation rights, which were only recently and gradually reinstated to what they are now.

Many Britney watchers credit the appearance of her father, Jamie Spears, in her life in February (he has legal control of her affairs) for her abrupt turnaround. It remains to be seen if she can stay on the current spotless path that her dad has put her on if he's not around.
Britney will surely try to gain more custody of her kids.

So it's not over yet, folks. Do you think she'll keep trying to get babies back? And is it a good idea for the kids?

Kevin Federline Secures Full Custody Of Kids

A surprising development has come about in the on-going custody battle over the Spederline children, Sean Preston and Jayden James. It is being reported that a deal has been struck between Britney Spears and Kevin Federline for sole physical custody of the boys. According to K-Fed’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, Britney relented and agreed to let K-Fed have full physical custody of the boys while she agreed to enjoy mere visitation rights. News of this agreement started making the rounds last night, I understand that the parties are meeting in court today to have the judge approve the settlement and finalize the agreement:

According to the agreement, reportedly signed by all parties, Federline retains sole custody of the couple’s two sons, Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden, 1 1/2. Spears – who’s currently allowed two visits and one overnight per week – will keep her visitation rights. “The case has been settled,” Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told E! Online. “The court still has to approve it.” Both parties are due in court Friday … However, a judge can always modify custody settlements – and a source close to Spears tells PEOPLE the singer will likely get increased visitation as time goes on. “Until the kids turn 18, we can expect in years to come that Britney and Kevin will be back in court,” says L.A. family lawyer Lynn Soodik, who is not involved with the case. “Britney will have a better chance of winning more custody once she regains her health. This is just the end of Round One.”

This is very shocking news to me. I never anticipated that an agreement like this would be reached so quickly and so easily. The only thing I can assume is that Britney’s legal counsel (you may recall that Laura Wasser rejoined Britney’s legal team) convinced her to allow this settlement to be agreed upon in the hopes that she will prove to the court that she is serious about the children’s welfare and, as she continues to fortify her health, will eventually continue to win back increased visitation and more custody. Even still, I can’t believe that she would agree to this settlement. My guess was that K-Fed would be paid off and would eventually back down. I guess PrivĂ© nightclub knew what it was doing when it named Kevin Federline Father of the Year. This deal could be signed, sealed and settled by the court in mere hours. The long-waged Spederline custody battle may be totally finalized today.

OMG! - Brit Gives Up On The Kids! Gives Kevin Sole Custody!!!

The following italicized article is from www.x17online.com:

Last night a deal was struck between Britney and K-Fed and Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan announced the pop star would give sold legal and physical custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James to her ex-husband while she maintains visitation rights, according to Eonline.

So next up -- the conservatorship hearing. Will Jamie be kicked out or will Brit give up on that too and tell the court she needs someone to guide her life? Maybe she does!

Both parties are due in court today to get the deal signed by a judge and then it's done - a two year battle fought half-ass by Brit and now she's pretty much giving up.

Who the hell told her to do this? Is this dad Jamie's advice? Does this mean there's no hope of Britney ever being really "well" again? How could you give up on your kids unless you were sick???

Kaplan told E!:

"Kevin's was not [out] to get custody. Kevin's goal was to set up some kind of template so the mother of his children can co-parent ... Nobody could have anticipated the terms of events that have occurred....This was a two-year journey that will be halted at a point that is good for these children. Custody is always modifiable. If there is a final order, it means there is nothing to try."

So that's it! It's over!

And what about if Jaime's conservatorship over Brit and her estate ends on July 31 at the next hearing ... or if not, when it ends at some date after that?:

"While I can't tell you the terms, the order does anticipate what happens if the conservatorship is ended," Kaplan told E! News. "The devil is always in the details and this is a very detailed deal memo."
We caught up with Kaplan last night at a press conference STK after he dined and he told us:

"I'm very pleased with the outcome and it sets up a way for both parents to be very involved without subjecting anything to chance in the future."

It's Over: Britney & Kevin Reach a Custody Settlement

The following italicized article is from www.people.com:

Britney Spears and her ex Kevin Federline have reached a custody settlement in their epic, year-and-a-half court battle over their two sons.

According to the agreement, reportedly signed by all parties, Federline retains sole custody of the couple's two sons, Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden, 1 1/2. Spears – who's currently allowed two visits and one overnight per week – will keep her visitation rights.

"The case has been settled," Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told E! Online. "The court still has to approve it."

Both parties are due in court Friday.

The legal saga, which began with shared 50-50 custody in July 2007, culminated in the most dramatic of public downfalls: Spears – the pop powerhouse worth an estimated $100 million – was twice forcibly hospitalized early this year for mental health issues. (Her father Jamie stepped in to take legal control of her affairs.)

However, a judge can always modify custody settlements – and a source close to Spears tells PEOPLE the singer will likely get increased visitation as time goes on.

''Until the kids turn 18, we can expect in years to come that Britney and Kevin will be back in court," says L.A. family lawyer Lynn Soodik, who is not involved with the case. "Britney will have a better chance of winning more custody once she regains her health. This is just the end of Round One."

Britney/K-Fed: Rhymes with Mettlement

The following italicized article is from www.tmz.com:

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have settled their child custody case ... finally.

Sources tell us the two have agreed to a custody arrangement that will give Brit more custody with their two kids by year's end. Currently, she sees Sean Preston and Jayden James three days a week with one overnight.

The settlement is a huge development because next month's trial is now kaput. We're told Brit, grandpa Jamie and K-Fed all wanted to avoid the expense, emotional wear and tear and media frenzy connected with a full-blown trial.

Interesting, we think -- Disso-queen Laura Wasser, who repped Brit from the get-go and was able to retain 50/50 custody even when her client was melting down, has been back on the case for only a month and the Brit ship is back afloat.

On K-Fed's side, his lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, was able to turn one of the most reviled guys in the U.S. of A. into Daddy Dearest and win him primary custody. The lawyers will be in court tomorrow to present the deal to Commish Scott Gordon for his approval.

What a world.

Britney and Kevin Settle Custody Battle

The following italicized article is from www.hollyscoop.com:

There will be no more out of control Britney and Kevin court dates because the custody battle has been settled before it could go to trial. Chances are it would get real messy if it went to trial and both parties are just trying to avoid that.

Both Kevin and Britney signed an agreement that reportedly gives Kevin sole custody and Britney visitation rights.

"The case has been settled," K. Fed's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told E! Online. "The court still has to approve it. "

Ummm…what changed? Didn’t Kevin already have sole custody? Wasn’t Britney fighting to get 50/50 custody? Maybe Britney’s camp knew that was impossible at this time and will try again at a later date.

Britney Agrees to Sole Custody for K-Fed

The following italicized article is from www.eonline.com:

Britney Spears has agreed to hand the parenting reins over to Kevin Federline.

K-Fed's longtime attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan exclusively tells E! News that the divorced duo have reached a settlement in their long-gestating custody case.

According to the agreement signed by all parties, Federline gets sole legal and physical custody of sons Sean Preston and Jayden James and Spears will have visitation rights.

"The case has been settled," Kaplan said. "The court still has to approve it. " Both parties are due in court Friday morning.

The case had been set to go to trial next month but all had been hoping to settle up beforehand.

"As of this evening there is a fully executed deal memo...All the issues that would have been addressed at trial have been settled," Kaplan told E! News. "Can't speak to the exact terms of the deal. Orders in place...will stay in place."

But although this is theoretically good news for Federline, Kaplan maintains that this isn't exactly what his client had in mind.

"Kevins was not [out] to get custody. Kevins goal was to set up some kind of template so the mother of his children can co-parent," Kaplan said.

"He said I need to have Britney to be involved in the coparenting of the kids but I need there to be a structure."

But this is the structure he got and "Kevin is absolutely delighted," Kaplan continued.

"Nobody could have anticipated the terms of events that have occurred....This was a two-year journey that will be halted at a point that is good for these children. Custody is always modifiable. If there is a final order, it means there is nothing to try."

Spears has been enjoying monitored visits with her boys since late February after temporarily losing any on-hand-mommying privileges following a stretch of noticeably erratic behavior on her part and two brief hospital stays.

Federline's camp has credited the influence of Spears' father Jamie, who was appointed a coconservator of his daughter's estate Feb. 1, for helping to get the 26-year-old popster back on track.

A court commissioner is scheduled to review whether the make the conservatorship permanent at the end of this month. If the arrangement were to end, what then happens to Spears' current deal?

"While I can't tell you the terms, the order does anticipate what happens if the conservatorship is ended," Kaplan told E! News. "The devil is always in the details and this is a very detailed deal memo.

"Nobody can predict what the future will bring but ...to the extent possible I think we have really anticipated how to proceed."

Confirmed: Britney Spears working on new album

The following italicized article is from www.hollywoodinsider.ew.com:

Britney Spears is attempting yet another comeback: Reps have confirmed that she is at work on the follow-up to 2007’s Blackout.

A statement from Jive Records and Spears' manager Larry Rudolph says that “Britney Spears is spending her summer in the recording studio, working with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters.

We’re very excited about what she’s accomplished so far.” So is Sean Garrett, who happens to be one of those producers. “We’re trying to take her stuff to the next level,” he tells EW.com. “I’m going to come up with something crazy for her.”

Spears has sold 83 million albums worldwide in her career, but Blackout only went platinum in the U.S., likely due to declining CD sales and her status as last year’s most permanent tabloid fixture. But Garrett — who’s also worked with Usher, BeyoncĂ©, and Chris Brown — welcomes the challenge. “I like to work on an artist when they count them out...and bring them back.”

Madge's Brit and JT reunion bid

The following italicized article is from www.thesun.co.uk:

MADONNA wants to reunite ex lovers BRITNEY SPEARS and JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE on stage during her world tour.

The Queen Of Pop has turned Madgemaker and wants them to join forces as the grand finale of her Sticky & Sweet jaunt.

Britney has already filmed a sexy cameo for Madge’s tour, to be beamed on to a giant screen as a stage backdrop.

Filmed in a lift, one scene shows a toned Brit looking hot and sweaty in a clinging white vest.
Madge has also asked the Toxic star to make a surprise appearance in person at some shows.
And she is desperate to get JT on stage too.

Justin was heavily involved in the recording of Madge album Hard Candy and she wants him to perform one of their duets from the CD.

Madge’s dream is to shock the world with JT and Britney — whose four-year relationship ended in 2002 — appearing on the same stage at her final US date in Miami in November.
A source revealed: “Madonna is always trying to raise the bar and Britney and Timberlake on the same stage would be perfect.

“They have both been asked but I think both are a bit reluctant. Britney would find it all a bit emotional and JT might not fancy it.

More likely is that they both appear on different dates.

“But if anyone can make this happen it’s Madonna.”

How terrifying...

Britney Spears is back in the studio

The following italicized article is from www.latimes.com:

Rebounding from what seemed like an endless spiral of personal crises and public meltdowns, tabloid queen Britney Spears is back in the studio and at work on a "brand-new album," according to a joint statement released by the pop icon's manager, Larry Rudolph, and her label, Jive Records.

"Britney Spears is spending her summer in the recording studio," the statement, released Tuesday, says. "She's working with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters. And we're very excited about what she's achieved so far."

No release date for her sixth studio album has been set, and none of her collaborators is named in the statement. But producers JR Rotem, Sean Garrett, Guy Sigsworth, Nate "Danja" Hills, Bloodshy & Avantand Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins have independently revealed that they are contributing to the project.

"Stuff we did so far is really dance-y, really up-tempo," Jerkins told Rap-Up TV last month.
"Real aggressive and catchy. Very, very, very hook-friendly."

With the intention of resurrecting her career, the multi-platinum-selling mother of two released "Blackout" last fall, which opened at No. 2 on the national album chart and was ranked among Rolling Stone magazine's Top 50 albums of 2007. Recorded during the time Spears, 26, was pregnant with her second son, Jayden James, and separating from Kevin Federline, the CD featured collaborations with producer-performers including Pharrell Williams and T-Pain.

But "Blackout's" commercial reception was ultimately overshadowed by Spears' erratic behavior that year, which included shaving her head in a Sherman Oaks beauty salon, attacking a paparazzo's car with an umbrella, checking into and out of rehab, blowing off custody hearings and turning in a disastrous performance of the album's lead single, "Gimme More," at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards.

Further presaging Spears' return to center stage, the "pop wreck" has kept busy by making appearances in others' videos. Last month, she appeared at a shoot for the bump-and-grind pop quintet the Pussycat Dolls' single "When I Grow Up." And earlier this month, Madonna's spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg confirmed that Spears was set to film a "short movie" that would be part of the Material Girl's Sweet and Sticky tour, kicking off in Berlin next month.

Britney Spears Kid Woes: Reintroducing Britney

The following italicized article is from www.nationalledger.com:

Britney Spears is excited to be a real mother to her young sons again - but is it too late? She had been looking forward to her first overnight visit with her sons all week, but Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden, 22 months, didn't seem to feel the same way when they arrived at Britney Spears' Beverly Hills mansion two weeks ago.

"The kids were a little tired, and not fully aware of why they were staying with her," a family friend tells In Touch. "Especially Jayden. He burst into tears. An expert cited in the article says that the sooner Britney gets involved in her sons' lives, the more likely she is to build lasting relationships.

"This is a crucial period in their lives," says psychologist Patricia Farrell, who does not treat the star, according to the report from the weekly entertainment magazine. "They need to be able to trust that someone will be there all of the time."

As for Britney, she finally understands how much is at stake. Recently, she has shown a willingness to make sacrifices and is making plans to give up her Beverly Hills home and move to a neighborhood that's more child-friendly. "Britney really misses her kids," says the family friend. "She loves them and realizes she made mistakes, but she can do better now.

Katy Perry Wants Madonna, Britney Spears Lesbian Kiss With Miley Cyrus

The following italicized article is from www.nationalledger.com:

Katy Perry is on top of the op world with her new sexy hit single "I Kissed a Girl" and the adorable songstress says she really wants to create a buzz with a Britney Spears and Madonna like lesbian kiss on stage with Miley Cyrus. While Madge and Britney are desperately trying to recreate their one time sexy show, Katy Perry says she will really make a splash with a Miley Cyrus lesbian kiss.

Miley Cyrus, the star of Hannah Montana, has already been on the World Wide Web sharing a piece of licorice with another girl in one of her several raunchy MySpace like photos. The cell phone pictures show the young star flirtatiously playing with girls and boys. Would Miley kiss Katy on stage? And would that end the Disney career?

Us Weekly magazine reports that Perry, 23, will attend August's Teen Choice Awards, which Cyrus, 15, is hosting. The white-hot pop star says, "Maybe we'll have another Britney-Madonna moment on stage (with a tongue twisting lesbian kiss)," Perry joked. She understands pretty well that it likely won't happen and would it be a bit creepy as Miley is but fifteen years old.

She adds, "I don't think it would help her career. However, it would definitely help mine!" It seems like it is open season on Miley Cyrus who is busy now trying to tread water after her earlier wet-t-shirt pics from the shower that were reportedly stolen and leaked online (see here and the first link is safe). It appears that Katy is joking but can you imagine the buzz of a Katy-Miley kiss
