As guests Jim Carrey, Charlie Sheen and wife Brooke Mueller made the rounds, Spears, 26, sipped on red wine.

Carrey's daughter Jane later took to the stage to belt out a few Frank Sinatra and Jackson 5 tunes.

Britney was "looking happy," an eyewitness says. "She looked incredible - like the Britney we used to know. She was clapping and smiling a lot."

It was Spears' first public outing since reaching a custody agreement with ex-husband Kevin Federline last week.

While Federline gets sole custody, Spears gets three visits a week from Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, including two overnights.

If all goes well, she could have her boys roughly 40 percent of the time, her attorney, Laura Wasser, has said.

Wasser told the Associated Press the "difference" in Spears "from the beginning of this year to now is astonishing."

Meanwhile, the 'Toxic' hitmaker -- who is set to appear with Madonna on her Sticky and Sweet tour later this year -- is due to spend the summer recording her new album, Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph, confirmed.

Jenny McCarthy & Jim Carrey To The ‘Rescue’

Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey played host at an event here in LA last night for Generation Rescue, a non-profit organization that was formed by parents of children who have been diagnosed with childhood neurological disorders (Autism, Asperger’s, ADHD, ADD, PDD-NOS and other learning disabilities). Jenny became involved with the organization after she discovered that her son Evan suffers from autism. Some of Jenny Mac’s friends — including Britney Spears, the newly single Sarah Silverman and Rose McGowan — came out to lend their support for the organization. Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals:
First off, what a great organization to lend your support to. So much is not known about these sorts of neurological disorders … I think it’s amazing that like-minded mothers got together to take an active step in creating awareness. I believe this is the first “non-party” event that Britney Spears has attended in many months. As you may recall, she agreed to let her ex-husband Kevin Federline have permanent physical custody of her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James earlier this week … and here she is, lending her support to charity (and lookin’ pretty hawt, I might add). I’m going to assume she had no ulterior motives for coming out to this event. In fact, I really do believe that all the celebs who came out last night did so for the right reasons. Kudos to Jenny and Jim for using their high profile celebrity to aid this cause. Color me impressed.

Britney 'Using Album To Get Revenge'

The following italicized article is from www.digitalspy.co.uk:

Britney Spears is planning to use her new album to get revenge on those who have wronged her, according to a report today.

Following her highly-publicised personal problems, the pop star is spending the summer in the studio to work on the follow-up to her 2007 album Blackout.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Spears has already penned a number of tracks. One, titled 'ATM', accuses her mother of using her for money. It contains the lyrics: "Hey Mama, I know it's my cash you seek... You know they treat me like an ATM, but y'all know that I'm too good for 'em."

Another track reportedly suggests that Justin Timberlake was not her first lover. Titled 'Already Bad', it reveals: "I know you thought you were the first, but I had already quenched my thirst, I was already bad."

An insider told the newspaper: "The songs are up tempo and there are some wicked heavy beats. She's built on the foundations she laid in her last album, Blackout.

"These tunes will change the way people think about Britney. A lot of people have messed her around over the years and she's bottled up all this anger and now she's just let it all out."

Poll Closed!

This weeks poll has closed and here are the results:
Stay tuned for an all new poll coming soon!

Ne-Yo: I Snubbed Britney for Pussycat Doll!

The following italicized article is from www.ok-magazine.com:

Ne-Yo has revealed that he wrote a bunch of songs for Britney — but then decided he'd rather have a Pussycat Doll sing them instead!

The Closer star said that he was asked to pen a series of tracks for Spears's next album.

But when her career ground to a halt after her meltdown last year, he got so sick of waiting for her to get it together that he slipped them to Nicole from the red hot girl group.

And apparently that didn't go over too well with Brit!

"We set up multiple sessions where she was supposed to actually come in and give her input on the songs, but she never showed up," the singer told Britain's Guardian newspaper.

"This was before the whole shaving of the head thing, but after that happened, her people stopped returning phone calls."

In the meantime, the So Sick singer met Nicole Scherzinger who said she'd love the tracks for her solo project.

"And when news of that came out," says Ne-Yo, "then Britney's people call me! 'Hey! What's going on? Why're you giving away Britney's music?' I'm like, 'Wait! Until y'all cut me a cheque, I'm givin' away my music. It may've been written with Britney in mind, but it's not hers.'

"I heard that she was upset with me," he continues, "and, you know, I don't care."

Britney Spears Settlement Details Revealed

The following italicized article is from www.etonline.com:

Britney Spears' settlement agreement forged with Kevin Federline allows the pop star to visit her little boys -- Sean, 2, and Jayden, 1 -- three nights a week, plus two overnight stays for starters, the Associated Press reports.

If that arrangement goes according to plan, she could end up caring for her little boys about 40 percent of the time, her attorney Laura Wasser tells the AP.

Earlier Friday, K-Fed's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan told ET he believes the Court will approve the settlement in the days to come.

Britney's Child Support Payments Increased!

The following italicized article is from www.x17online.com:

Britney Spears may have gotten the expanded visitation rights with her children she'd been seeking earlier this morning - but her victory comes with a whopper of a price tag!

People reports that one key agreement in Britney and Kevin Federline's custody settlement increases the amount of child support the pop singer must pay her ex-husband by $5000, raising Federline's monthly total from $15,000 to $20,000.

"All Britney was seeking was a formalization of her increased visitation that she's obtained over recent weeks, and the additional overnight," a source told the mag. "She won both of those requests."

And K-Fed won't be the only party getting a payday from the pop princess - the source also tells People that Kevin's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan successfully demanded $250,000 for all his work on the case!

Guess that would explain Kaplan's supremely self-satisfied attitude in his post-court press conference - we'd be cocky too if we had a quarter of a million bucks coming our way!

We're a little shocked by this news - after all, didn't Britney already give up enough?

GET TO WORK!

The following italicized article is from www.nypost.com:

JIVE executives are working overtime to get Britney Spears to record her new album. Earlier this week, they released pictures of Spears and manager Larry Rudolph leaving a music studio, and said in a statement that she's "spending her summer in the recording studio, working on a brand-new album." But one music industry heavyweight said, "Britney wants to focus on her TV and movie career right now. Jive and Larry are having trouble getting her to record, so they forced her hand with the statement and photo releases."

Source: NY Post

Yeah, they're so right. I mean: Britney's only been in the studio 40+ times since March this year.

Kaplan "Trial Averted"

The following italicized article is from www.x17online.com:

Kevin Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, just addressed the media outside of the courthouse on the new custody agreement between Britney and Kevin.

In what he dubbed one of the "most anti-climatic moments of your [the journalists'] professional life", Kaplan confirmed that "there's an agreement," the terms of which he wouldn't disclose because at the moment it's a "private agreement" which must "be converted into a legal document with the court," before it can be a final order.

But Kaplan confirmed that "a trial has been averted."

"This has been a long ordeal, and to have that over is extremely rewarding," Kaplan told the press.

"Any settlement requires some movement. The beauty of resolving things by agreement is you take all the chance out of the defined result," Kaplan explained, and can "avoid the economic and emotional cost that comes with any custody case."

We sincerely hope all parties concerned are happy with the outcome!

Britney's Lawyer: "She's Doing Great"

The following italicized article is from www.ok-magazine.com:

Following this morning court proceedings, where lawyers for Britney Spears and Kevin Federline announced to commissioner Scott Gordon that they had agreed on a final settlement in their drawn-out custody battle, Laura Wasser, Brit's attorney spoke to OK! about the resolution to this long legal feud.

"It's a victory for both sides," claims Wasser. "They both want what's best for the kids and they both wanted to avoid a trial. They thought it wasn't necessary or cost-effective."

Wasser also confirmed that Britney still has Sean Preston, 2, and 1-year-old Jayden James for two day visits and one overnight visit per week, adding, "She will have more custodial time by the end of the year."

As for her client's state of mind, the legal eagle says, "Britney's doing great. She's very excited to have her kids overnight today." This is a slight break from the pop star's normal schedule with her boys, which had previously seen them having their overnight visits on Saturday evenings.

And to those who might see this agreement, which has K-Fed maintaining sole physical custody, Wasser clarifies, "There was never a fight over custody; That wasn't the issue... The issue was about getting more time [with the boys.]"

Meanwhile, Kevin's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan tells OK! that his client is "very happy" with the agreement and with being able to avert the "economic and emotional cost" of a trial.

Currently, the agreement between the Spears and Federline camp is still awaiting approval from Gordon, though he is expected to ratify the deal early next week.

Britney The Peacemaker!

The following italicized article is from www.x17online.com:

We've been wondering why Britney Spears would willingly give up custody of her young sons ever since the news first broke - until now!

Avoiding A Trial

Calling the decision a "victory for the entire family," Britney's attorney Laura Wasser confirmed in the courthouse that the pop princess' decision to give her ex-husband full custody of their children was significantly motivated by her desire to avoid a trial.

"[Britney and Kevin] have finally figured out a way to work together as co-parents, and the kids will benefit as a result of that," Wasser told reporters.

Court spokesman Allan Parachini confirmed Wasser's statement, claiming that "a resolution is imminent" and describing the decision as "a maneuver that may avoid a trial".

At the moment, Britney and Kevin's August trial date remains on the books on the Court calendar as a three-day custody hearing, but all involved are hoping that this resolution eliminates the need for a trial neither party wants.

"[Britney and Kevin] both want to avoid a trial," Wasser said. "It's not necesssary, it's not cost effective."

Britney Gets More Time With The Kids?Of course, Britney's not giving up full custody of her boys for nothing - in fact, Wasser says the pop starlet may end up spending more time with her boys!

According to Wasser, Britney can expect "more custodial time" with Sean and Jayden in the future. In fact, Wasser says she's visiting with the boys right now - and she'll keep them until at least tomorrow!

"Britney will get more custodial time by the end of the year," Wasser said, claiming that the trial has always been about increasing Britney's time with the boys rather than a simple custody dispute.

Besides, as Wasser points out, the agreement could change at any moment - in her words, "there's no such thing as a permanent custody order!"

Britney to Pay K-Fed $20,000 in Child Support

The following italicized article is from www.people.com:

Britney Spears's custody settlement with her ex Kevin Federline came at a price.

A source close to the singer confirms she'll now pay Federline $20,000 a month in child support, an increase from $15,000.

Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, also demanded and received $250,000 for his work on the case, the source adds.

"All Britney was seeking was a formalization of her increased visitation that she's obtained over recent weeks, and the additional overnight," the source said. "She won both of those requests."

Spears, who is represented by lawyer Laura Wasser, currently sees her sons twice a week with one overnight. The source adds that she will get an additional overnight by year's end, barring any setbacks.

At a press conference following Friday's hearing, Kaplan declined to address any monetary settlement. "This has been a long ordeal [for Kevin]," Kaplan said, "and for it to be over makes him very happy."

Britney Immerses Herself In Work

The following italicized article is from www.x17online.com:

X17online can exclusively report that while Britney and Kevin's lawyers were hashing out a new custody agreement last night, Britney was at Ben Kitay productions in Hollywood.

Photogs say she was at the studio from 9pm until 10:30 at night, auditioning dancers presumably for a music video for her next single!

But as excited as we are for a new Britney album, is this really what she wants or needs right now? According to the Post, she'd rather concentrate on her acting career, but Jive records and manager Larry Rudolph are forcing her to spend "the summer in the studio, working on a brand-new album"!

K-Fed and Lawyer Cash In

The following italicized article is from www.tmz.com:

Settlement means payday for K-Fed and his lawyer.

TMZ has learned under the terms of the settlement, that will become a done deal shortly, K-Fed will get more child support, i.e., more jack in his bank. Currently, he pulls in $15,000 a month from Britney. Under the deal, he'll get just south of $20,000.

As for K-Fed's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, there's something in this settlement for him. Kaplan, who wanted a trial last month, will now settle and get an additional $200,000 from the bank of Britney.

And, we've learned the court has officially vacated the trial date, even though settlement papers have not been filed. So, no trial, and that's the real headline in this case.

P.S. Legal and physical custody were never at issue because of the conservatorship. The fact is, since last month, Brit has almost doubled her custodial time with the kids.

Spears, K-Fed Custody Almost a Done Deal

The following italicized article is from www.eonline.com:

Kevin Federline may be on his way to receiving sole custody, but he's not the sole winner in his battle with Britney Spears.

Attorneys for both sides met with Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon this morning in a bid to get final approval for a deal that would allow K-Fed to retain primary physical custody of sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1. Spears, meanwhile, will get a boost to her current visitation rights—with the possibility of much more to come.

The deal would also preempt a trial in the case.

"She gets increased visitation and additional overnights, and once the conservatorship ends, she will ask the court to change it back to a shared 50/50 legal and physical custody," a source close to Spears told E! News.

Laura Wasser, attorney for the 26-year-old "Gimme More" singer, told reporters outside the courtroom that Spears is more than happy with the terms of the deal.

"Britney is really pleased," she said. "She has the kids today."

Pleased or not, while the deal is as good as done, it's not yet on the record books, despite this morning's hearing.

"I believe we will come to an agreement and the agreement will be converted into a legal document sometime in the future," Kaplan said. "I will not comment on the terms of the agreement. It will not be filed today.

"Right now it is a private agreement. It has not been turned into an order."

"Nothing has been filed," court spokesman Alan Parachini confirmed. "A resolution is imminent. What that is, don't know, because we haven't seen it yet.

"Neither Britney nor Kevin came to court today. But [the attorneys] did indicate they are working on a settlement."

Meanwhile, when the conservatorship of Spears' estate ends, a source says the singer plans to ask the commissioner to restore shared custody—terms similar to what the couple had prior to her January meltdown.

News of a settlement in the long-gestating, headline-grabbing case broke last night, when Federline attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told E! News "all the issues that would have been addressed at trial have been settled."

Mark Vincent Kaplan Discusses New Britney/Kevin Custody Arrangement

The following italicized article is from www.x17online.com:

Today, Mark Vincent Kaplan is in court finalizing his client's full custody order (where, our X17online reporter tells us, he's currently with Laura Wasser in the judges private chambers). But last night, cameras caught the infamous attorney outside of STK, where he discussed his client's reaction to Brit's having given up on custody of her small sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.

As he stated previously, the order, which is being finalized today, does anticipate what may happen if Jamie's conservatorship ends on July 31st, so will that be Brit's only hope of regaining custody? Or is this new agreement just a smart way for Brit to get more visitation in giving up custody?

Britney Spears And Kevin Federline Finally Reach Custody Agreement

The following italicized article is from www.starpulse.com:

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have finally reached an agreement over the care of their two young sons.

The former couple has been embroiled in a bitter 18-month custody battle over sons Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, since the breakdown of their marriage in November 2006.

But the pair finally agreed terms of care on Thursday although they still need to be approved by a judge.

Federline retains sole custody of the couple's two sons. Spears - who is currently allowed two visits and one overnight stay each week - will keep her visitation rights.

Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, tells E! News, "The case has been settled. The court still has to approve it."

However, Spears' family lawyer Lynn Soodik - who does not represent her in this case - has hinted the singer may request extra visitation in the future.

She tells People.com, "Until the kids turn 18, we can expect in years to come that Britney and Kevin will be back in court.

"Britney will have a better chance of winning more custody once she regains her health. This is just the end of Round One."
