It's hard to believe that just five months ago, Britney Spears shocked the world by holing up inside her home with her youngest son Jayden James while the authorities attempted to return the one-year-old child to the custody of his father, Kevin Federline.

But on May 26, it was not only a completely different scene but a different Britney who snuggled and played with her sons Sean Preston,2, and Jayden,21 months, as the little family rang in the Memorial Day holiday at her Studio City, Calif., home.

"Sean Preston wouldn't let go of Britney," an eyewitness tells OK!. "He didn't want to leave her side. Every time she tried to put him down, he would clinch himself closer to her." At one point, the toddler hit his hand, and ran to his mother for comfort. "Sean started crying, and then he was resting his head on Britney's shoulder."

Friends say Britney has finally accepted the help she needs to get better, taking her court-mandated parenting classes seriously and even reading self-help books — most recently Jack Canfield's Key to Living the Law of Attraction: A Simple Guide to Creating the Life of Your Dreams.

Pals of the singer say it's this commitment to recovery that is finally allowing Britney to become the mother she always meant to be.

"Her biggest regret is losing her boys, and now's the time to put that right," a source tells OK!. Her efforts seem to be working. On May 6, she was finally awarded more time during her visitation--a boost from 9 hours a week to 27.

Brit seems to have straightened her love life out as well. Gone are the bad-boys she used to romance. In their place — Jason Trawick, Brit's agent at William Morris and an all-around regular guy — thoughtful, intelligent and completely uninterested in sharing the spotlight.

And the best part — Britney's dad and conservator, Jamie Spears, loves the match!

"There's no doubt that Jamie, approves of Jason — and why wouldn't he?" the agent's friend tells OK!. "Jason would never take advantage of Britney. I'm glad that she's finally found a good guy who isn't interested in her fame or her fortune."

Report: Britney Spears Planning Las Vegas Comeback

A new report has emerged claiming Britney Spears could be in line for a $10 million paycheck for a one-time Las Vegas comeback show, followed by a series of concert dates.

Rumors were sparked that Britney was planning a Vegas gig when she was spotted dining in Los Angeles last week with her friend — The Palms owner George Maloof.

Now, Britain’s News of The World has published a report claiming the pop star will play a gig at The Palms Hotel and Casino at the end of the year.

“Britney is finally getting her life—and career — back on track and the whole world will see the evidence when she steps on that stage,” a source told the tabloid.

Spear’s label bosses have reportedly given the idea the thumbs up, the paper reported.
And the shows are expected to be stunning.

“The concert will be one to top them all—a spectacle,” the source said. “It will have jaw-dropping lights, amazing costumes and a performance from Britney to roll back the years.”

A rep for Spears’ label was not immediately available for comment when contacted by Access Hollywood.

In related news, Spears stepped out this past weekend in LA to celebrate the birthday of designer Christian Audigier, who turned 50.

In a black tube dress, Spears partied the night away alongside her agent, Jason Trawick, who was last spotted next to the star during her trip to Costa Rica earlier this month. Other celebrities at the event, held at LA’s Motor Museum, included Michael Jackson, Fergie and Pamela Anderson.

Mother Nature Sours Britney's BBQ Bash

What better way for any mom — especially one who doesn't get to see her children every day — to celebrate Memorial Day weekend than with a poolside party with her family? And that's exactly what Britney Spears had planned on Monday, as she was joined by her two sons and her father for what should have been a glorious Southern California day.

Alas, Mother Nature was not on the pop star's side yesterday.

"She started setting up around 1pm for what was intended to be an all-out bash," one insider tells OK!. Brit's dad, Jamie Spears, is a trained cook and was supposed to be preparing a feast on the grill at the singer's home inside her exclusive, gated community called The Summit.

But as occasional sprinkles and very un-California 59-degree temperatures persisted, it became obvious after a few hours that it was just not meant to happen.

Around 5pm, the revelry all seemed to end, as Sean Preston and Jayden James were driven back to the home of their father, Kevin Federline, and Jamie retired to his own home in nearby Studio City.

Hopefully, this minor disappointment won't get the pop star down. After all, there will be plenty more chances for Brit to party with her family — for example, when little sis Jamie Lynn Spears gives birth.

Designer Christian Audigier celebrated his 50th birthday in fine, gaudy style in Hollywood last night with a few of his closest (gaudiest) friends at L.A.'s Petersen Automotive Museum. Audigier's newest friend, Britney Spears, was in the hiz last night for the celebration (and Papa Jamie Spears came along to accompany her/keep an eye on her) as well as was the gaudiest one of all -- Michael Jackson -- who made a surprise appearance. Sounds like it was a party fit for a queen:

It was very nice of Britney to make an appearance for Audigier's 50th birthday but it seems clear that she (and her father/conservator Jamie Spears) is taking great pains to ensure that she stays out of trubs and away from temptation. Britney has been doing an amazing job of staying away from questionable places and people so that she doesn't court any more trouble. Clearly she knows what the important things are in her life ...
With folks like her father and former manager Larry Rudolph in her life, she seems poised to finally start living a nice, normal and safe life once again. And to that I say, Woot!

Britney turned up for Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier's 50th birthday party bash last night at the Peterson Automotive Museum.

Brit was "escorted" by her dad Jamie and her agent Jason Trawick was by her side again! Now, we're hearing Jason's in a relationship but if I were his girlfriend (or boyfriend), I think I'd want a little of that attention and time he seems to lavish on Brit!

Britney was whisked into the museum and taken upstairs in a private elevator and then placed directly in the most private booth in the VIP area. Macy Gray performed first, followed by Snoop, and then Fergie and Michael Jackson showed up at the end of the night to bestow his birthday greetings on Chrisitian.

I saw Mickey Rourke, Kim Kardashian, Pamela Anderson, and the french Elvis and Christian's business partner in Smet, Johnny Hallyday with his wife. There were naked peacock girls, acrobats spinning from fabric hanging from the ceiling, and a smattering of other stars and nobodies.

Britney was subdued and mostly stayed seated in her private booth with her dad, Jason, and assistant. She was smiling on the way in but left before the Gloved One appeared. Bodyguards kept most people away from Brit so, despite the place being packed -- even the VIP area -- Brit kept to her small entourage for the most part.

But it was a hot party -- any guy who can get Britney and Michael Jackson to celebrate his 50 years gets my vote!

It's good to see Britney out and about -- but maybe Jason could be her date for the night instead of her father always having to be around???

Britney's Wicked Workout

Britney Spears caused a bit of a shakeup this week during a trip to a Bally's Total Fitness in Culver City, Calif., when the club accidentally double-booked the same excercise room for both her and a regular scheduled fitness class.

An eyewitness tells OK! that the singer's trainer booked a room for her at 7 p.m. PT, not realizing that another class was already scheduled to start in the same room at 7:30.

When Bally members showed up for the class, they were told it had been cancelled because Britney was using the room for her private session. This started a frenzy at the otherwise low-key fitness club. Eyewitnesses tell OK! many members thought Britney was behind the mixup and had used her celebrity status to keep the room for herself.

Britney has been frequenting the Culver City Bally's to work on dance routines. Gym sources say the singer has recently been incorporating more vigorous dance training into her workouts which require hard wood floors-- the reason why she didn't change excercise rooms.

But now OK! has learned that Brit had nothing to do with the scheduling mixup!

"The mistake had nothing to do with Britney," says John Wildman,Cheif Marketing Officer for Bally Total Fitness. "We mistakenly double-booked the excercise room. It was entirely our fault."

Wildman adds, "We gave members gifts and premiums and certificates to take other classes as compensation. Everyone understood that it was a mistake on our end and everyone was happy knowing that it will never happen again."

Seriously, it's the weekend people--can't we all just get along?

Personally, I am not a fan of self-help books but I can absolutely understand how they may prove beneficial for some readers. If these are the sorts of books that have helped Britney regain control of her life in such a way that she is, once-again, productive and able to interact with her family, friends and children in a successful way then I am all for them! These sorts of photos are such a far cry from the tragic pics we were subjected to all last year. I absolutely love the image of Britney holding her children. I also love the image of Britney reading a book ... any book. With reports that Britney is in talks to stage a huge comeback concert in Las Vegas, it make sense that she would try to ground herself beforehand to ensure that she may be successful. She can do it ... she is deffo on the right path for making the comeback of the century.
