Dr. Luke Sues Bellamy Brothers

The following italicized article is from www.tmz.com:

Britney Spears' songwriter just launched a legal counter-attack over her number 1 hit "Hold It Against Me" -- suing The Bellamy Brothers for publicly claiming the song is a rip-off.

In a federal lawsuit filed today, Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald says The Bellamy Brothers launched a "smear campaign" by claiming Brit's hit -- co-penned by Gottwald -- was just a knockoff of their 1979 song ... "If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me?"

Gottwald also claims the Brothers' attack was "a publicity stunt aimed to increase their record sales ... and to combat their dwindling relevance." Ouch.

In addition to damages for defamation ... Gottwald wants a court order stating once and for all Britney's song has nothing to do with the BB's song.

The Bellamy Bros. rep didn't immediately return a call for comment.

Britney Tweets - I'm Still ROFL and LMAO

Jason and I saw "Hall Pass" last night. So Funny! jason is NEVER getting a Hall Pass! - Britney

- For those who don't know, a hall pass is like a permission slip that allows your partner to have sex with other people. At least we now know who's wearing the pants in their relationship. Go Britters!

Help Wanted

Do you own a computer? Are you an avid Britney fan? Have you always dreamed of updating about Britney news? Are you sick and tired of me asking all these questions and just want me to get to the point? Ok. Sheesh, don't be rude...I'll get to the point.

I'm looking for other Britney fans like me to help update BTI. If you sign up I will not put you to work in some basement and threaten to make you to listen to ''Bionic'' if you don't update...unless you're into that of course. Ew.

Becoming an updater is strictly for fun. You are not forced to update at specific times or dates. It's just for when you want or have an hour to yourself that you'd like to spend updating about Britney.

If you have other ideas, like maybe writing a weekly column about Britney (which we had a few years ago) you can also contact me and suggest such a thing.

Now be warned, it's a rotten job that doesn't pay anything except my gratitude which I'm pretty sure doesn't buy you iPod's in the store.

Still interested?

Contact me at breaktheiceblog@aol.com and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

P.S. - People from the US who'd like to become an updater are extremely welcome because I'm in some flop country that no one cares enough about to even correctly remember our name (It's The Netherlands, not Holland) so I'm in a completely different time zone which makes it hard to always post Britney stuff as it's happening.

P.S. 2 - I'm desperate and will hire pretty much anyone. Well, not Lindsay Lohan. That's even a too big of a risk for me.

Penny for My Thoughts? - Part Un

Some fans have recently asked me several questions ranging from: ‘’Why do you no longer post all Britney related news’’ to ‘’Why do you rarely comment on articles’’ to ‘’Why are you so handsome’’. Ok, I’ve been asked two of those questions. Not going to say which two though…

Anyway, this 3-piece post is my attempt at answering your questions and creating, hopefully well-mannered, discussion amongst Britney fans. Let’s try and keep the posting of angry gifs and delightful terms such as ‘’DIAF’’ or ‘’GTFO’’ to a minimum. Amusing? Definitely. Constructive? No.

The main reason I no longer post every rumor regarding Britney is, quite frankly, because they’re usually nothing more than that. As much as people hate to admit it, Britney is no longer the promotional powerhouse that she once was in a galaxy far away from this one. Therefore, continuing to post rumors about her performing at the Grammy’s or VMA’s seems pointless because if she were doing that it would be in everyone’s best interest to announce it.

Think about it, what good would secrecy do for Britney(‘s team) or the platform where she’s performing? Announcements create more buzz, ratings and sales than if they kept it a secret. In my opinion, fans use this so-called secrecy because they desperately want to believe that she is promoting because many people seem to think that if Britney doesn’t promote there is something wrong with her. However, I feel that many people forget that Britney is no longer this care-free spirit whose life revolves around her career. She is an actual person who has, like she says herself, a life away from her life. People change and it’s plausible she has different priorities now. Until recently Britney had worked her entire life and never truly had time to figure out what she wants. What if she has figured that out now and came to the conclusion that simply being an entertainer is no longer it for her? That her not promoting as much actually is a sign that she is well and listening to her needs?

I’m not saying that’s the case but it is a possibility. I’m also not saying that she doesn’t love what she does because by all accounts it appears she does. I’m just saying it’s possible for her to love something and yet not let is control her entire life or her ability to aspire for other things or to spend time with her loved ones. Maybe she has found a balance and this is it.

Using this train of thoughts, it’s reasonable for me to assume that her GMA performance will be the biggest promotional push for ‘’Femme Fatale’’. It was announced during a huge even that is watched by 37 million people. When you have that audience you’ll astonish them with your biggest marketing strategy. Why would you keep something a secret when 37 million potential album buyers are watching? Therefore, until I hear something from either Adam or Britney I try and refrain from posting most promotional rumors because they just create more hysteria and, in the event they’re false, disappointment amongst Britney’s fans.

Another reason why my blog updates less frequently than others is because I focus mostly on Britney and her career. I have no desire to post separately about anyone else in her life that didn’t choose to be famous. I occasionally post pictures of her kids, friends, family when Britney is with them or when a story about them directly affects Britney. To be honest, posting about her personal life at all is not something I enjoy doing but I accept that there’s a public interest in her life and so does Britney but posting about K-Fed’s (Yes, I still call him that. Sue me. I don’t care) financial woes or about Britney’s cousin’s sister’s friend’s brother’s garden accident isn’t something I would post. Like I said, my main focus are Britney’s professional activities. If there’s huge movement on the career front you will see less posts about her personal life. Vice versa, if there’s less movement on the career front I’m a little more willing to post about her personal life.

The final reason is that I simply refuse to post outlandish claims fabricated by toilet paper…ummm, I mean, tabloids. Claims such as Britney beating her children are ridiculous merely for the fact that she loves her children but most importantly she’s under a conservatorship and Kevin retains full custody rights. Do you really think anyone would allow Britney to hurt her children?

Basically, I use common sense to decide whether or not to post something. Or better said, I use what I personally see as common sense. It might not be how you feel but it's how I see things.

Do you have anything else to add? Leave a comment and let me know because I’m always open for a healthy discussion.

Stay tuned for part 2 which will be out tomorrow and discuss why I usually refrain from posting comments.

Oh and just because I’m a gif slut…

Britney Spears 'Very Hands-On' For Femme Fatale, Rodney Jerkins Says

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:

Britney Spears is a month away from the release of Femme Fatale, and nearly every day, she's teasing fans with samples of some of the songs on the album, including the latest, her song with will.i.am, "The Big Fat Bass." Now, longtime collaborator Rodney Jerkins is opening up about hitting the studio with Spears.

"Britney's always great to work with. I've worked with Britney for 12, 13 years now," he told MTV News. "It's always great to work with someone when you work with someone time and time again; it's always great, and it always gets better. And just to see her evolve as an artist, it's an amazing, amazing thing."

Jerkins worked with Spears in the past on "Overprotected (Darkchild Remix)" and "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" in the early 2000s, as well as her leaked version of Lady Gaga's "Telephone," when she was recording Circus.

This time around, he said Spears knows exactly what she wants musically on the album. "She was very hands-on. She had a lot of ideas for me," he said. "She's great. She gets it. She is a top-notch veteran pro at this now."

She might be getting some help from Jerkins, but Dr. Luke and Max Martin are executive-producing the album, and Jerkins had nothing but the best to say about the production team. "I never spoke to them, [but] those guys are just great, and the stuff that they've been doing is just really, really great stuff," he said. "I'm sure with their hands on it, it's great."

Spears herself has described the album as "moody, edgy pop with A LOT of energy," hinting that many of the songs will be uptempo, and Jerkins noted that the songs he's been writing for her have certainly fit that label. "I know the songs that I do are uptempo," he said. "The stuff I've done, I think, will kind of shock people. I got a chance to go out my box a little bit too. She's great. Britney's just awesome."

Where's Britney?

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:

On Friday, Britney Spears took another teasingly small step in promoting her upcoming Femme Fatale album, releasing a video in which she announced that she'll perform on "Good Morning America" on March 29, the day the LP drops.

The short video clip temporarily calmed the increasingly anxious Britney fans, who had been wondering, "Where is Britney?" It's been six weeks since first single "Hold It Against Me" was released. Since then, Britney has hosted a Q&A session with fans on Twitter and premiered the song's video on MTV, but she's been largely missing from the public eye.

We know the pop princess is still busy putting the finishing touches to her album — she tweeted a picture of her and producer will.i.am at the recording studio recently — but it does strike us as strange that a mere month away from the album release, Britney has not done a single promotional interview or live performance.

In the months before releasing her last album, Circus, Brit had appeared at theVMAs and onstage at Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour, performed on the British "X Factor" and shows in France and Germany, and aired the revealing documentary "Britney: For the Record" on MTV.

So, why the relative silence this time around? Is Britney being shy, or maintaining an air of mystery until closer to the big reveal of her album?

"The girl's coming back, and her music's doing well," PR expert Howard Bragman told MTV News. "Coming back is a hard thing to do, and when you've been in the spotlight as long as Britney Spears has been, it's hard to maintain that. The fact that she's still relevant musically is quite a feat."

While Lady Gaga has performed on the Grammys and made appearances on "60 Minutes," "The Tonight Show" and "Good Morning America" since releasing "Born This Way," Bragman cautioned against comparing Brit and Gaga.

"Public relations, when done well, is not one size fits all," Bragman explained. "You've got to know who you're working with and what their DNA in the public eye is, and everybody has a different DNA in the public eye."

Perhaps Britney, now into the 13th year of her career, has decided that she doesn't have to go crazy working the promotional circuit, especially since she is a mother of two young boys. Unlike Lady Gaga and other relatively new pop stars like Katy Perry or Ke$ha, Spears has been there, done that and is no longer so hungry for success. She did her time on the nonstop promo circuit back in her ... Baby One More Time and In the Zone days, and maybe she's content to let the music speak for itself now.

Or perhaps the worrying fans have jumped the gun, and her team is about to surprise us all with a slew of appearances and performances. All we know for sure is that, promotion or no promotion, Britney is still very capable of keeping us intrigued.

Britney Spears -- The Financial Explosion

The following italicized article is from www.tmz.com:

Britney Spears has just learned .... it pays to have a conservatorship, and pays VERY well.

TMZ has obtained legal documents in the conservatorship case, showing that in December 2008, the assets controlled by Britney's conservators totaled $2,826,362.68.

Now get this ...TMZ has learned ... exactly one year later -- in December, 2009 -- the assets controlled by the conservators swelled to $27,500,000 ... almost a 10 fold increase in 1 year.

Most of the gains came from Britney's wildly successful Circus Tour.

As for the assets at the close of 2008, there's an interesting breakdown. Britney's "furniture and equipment" was valued at $1,551,026. Her jewelry, furs and antiques totaled $264,988.

Now the figures are deceiving. The conservators only control a portion of Britney's total estate. She has a lot of money and property in various trusts and other business entitites, which the conservators do not control.

Britney Added Hew ''Flavour'' to ''Hold It Against Me'' Fight Scene

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:

Last week, fans were treated to the premiere of Britney Spears' "Hold It Against Me" video. The sleek, dark look at celebrity life was a new aesthetic for the star, who hooked up with Jonas Ã…kerlund on the clip.

While her dance scenes were choreographed by Brian Friedman, it was noted Hollywood martial-arts expert Steven Ho who helped Britney work out the moves to battle herself in the video.

"I've been very fortunate to have worked on a wide range of high-profile projects, and the video's producer, Hagai Shaham, thought my style would be a good fit with Jonas and Britney. I was brought in to train Britney, choreograph the fight and set up wires for the levitation shots," he told MTV News about joining the project.

"I've always wanted to work with Jonas," he continued. "I knew that a stylized fight would translate well with his trademark visuals, so I was thrilled about doing this project. Jonas wanted a superhuman fight with elements of brutality — that's right up my alley of how I approach an action scene, so we were definitely all on the same page throughout the process."

Not only were Ã…kerlund and Ho onboard for some mortal combat, but the star herself warmed up to the idea of battling a clone. "Britney was really excited throughout the whole process. It was a grueling shoot of dance and stunts, but her passion for the video and professionalism never wavered," he explained. "There were some pretty tough insert shots where we needed Britney to actually get hit in the face by 'herself.' We did several consecutive takes of this, and she had a lot of fun with it and was a great sport.

"Britney was very enthusiastic about learning how to fight; she's an athlete," he added. "I got that Jonas' concept was partially about the duality of self — we all deal with that, so who wouldn't have fun fighting their alter egos?"

The key, it seems, was making Ho's fight moves work with Friedman's dance routine. "It was really great working with Brian; he's an absolute professional. He was diligent about our fight style being cohesive with the dancing, and that's why it worked so well," Ho recalled. "Our rehearsals were on the same stage, so it was very helpful to have Brian's feedback from a dancer's point of view."

It seems that one of the most memorable moves in the fight, Spears' quickstep during the smack-down, was all her own.

"Britney was fantastic about incorporating what we had practiced in rehearsal, and as a consummate performer, she was able to take ownership by adding her own flavor to the fight. There's a quick cut in the video that features Britney taking a series of small shuffle steps in her heels. This is something she came up with herself that I thought added a nice break of 'cuteness' in the fight," he said. "Jonas drowned out the music here to highlight the tapping sounds, and it's really one of my favorite beats of the video."

Aside from the two Britneys, the other main characters in the fight were her sky-high heels and flowing gowns. "The wardrobe was one of the stars of the fight," he explained. "At first I was concerned about how to approach the long trains. There were discussions with Jonas and [stylist] B. [Ã…kerlund] and [fashion assistant Renelou Padora] about possibly shortening the train for safety issues. After I showed my wife [designer Nina Petronzio] the pictures of the dresses, she literally said, 'I will kill you if you cut those trains down.' We ended up incorporating the trains as 'weapons.' We treated them as if they were sharp blades, giving Britney reason to jump and evade around them."
