Sam Lutfi Reportedly Demanded Money from Britney Spears

The following italicized article is taken from www.usmagazine.com:

Sam Lutfi "made various demands" of Britney Spears, "including demands for money," court documents in the singer's conservatorship case claim.

The revelation was part of a declaration submitted by attorney Jeryll Cohen, who is representing Jamie Spears, Britney's father and co-conservator.

Cohen said that Spears' business manager, Howard Grossman, told her of the "numerous emails" from Lutfi with the demands.

Cohen is seeking the dismissal of Grossman by Spears' conservators – Jamie and attorney Andrew Wallet – because, in part, he will not turn over the emails despite a court order

Cohen's filing claims that despite a court order stating that Spears lacked capacity to retain an attorney, Grossman arranged for a meeting between Spears and Adam Streisand, an attorney who claimed to represented the singer.

Also, the declaration says that Grossman authorized one of Spears' Mercedes to be delivered to her at the Beverly Hills Hotel despite a court order to only release her cars to representatives of Jamie or Wallet.

With Jamie in charge, Lutfi was banned from contacting Spears.

Jamie and Wallet were named co-conservators of the singer's legal, medical, and financial decisions on February 1.

The court's decision to put them in charge was the worst-case scenario for Spears, sources told Us, as she has never been close to her father (who battled alcohol abuse during her childhood and was verbally abusive).

Spears was released from the UCLA Medical Center on February 6 after a week of treatment. She had been expected to remain hospitalized for another 10 days.

The singer was involuntarily committed to treatment for bipolar disorder on January 31.

Brit's Attorney Is Out!

The following italicized article is taken from www.tmz.com:

TMZ just received the following statement from Brit's attorney Adam Streisand:

"At the request of Britney Spears, Adam Streisand, a Partner at Loeb & Loeb LLP, met with her yesterday to discuss her legal rights in connection with the conservatorship over her person and estate. Following that meeting, Mr. Streisand learned that the court had issued orders that prevent Ms. Spears from retaining counsel of her own choosing, and on that basis, Mr.Streisand has decided he will not represent her at this time."

Britney's Mental State To Be Debated In Court Today

The following italicized article is taken from www.pagesix.com:

After a standoff with her father last night at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Britney Spears returned to her home at The Summit with dad Jamie and boyfriend Adnan Ghalib, capping off yet another eventful day for the pop tart.

Following her release from the psychiatric unit at UCLA Medical Center in the morning, she briefly went home with her parents before hopping in her Mercedes and driving erratically through the streets of Los Angeles, ending up at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where she hooked up with Adnan.

Last night, she met with her lawyer, Adam Streisand, to discuss today's court hearing regarding her mental competency.

Later today, Streisand is believed to be planning to petition Commissioner Reva Goetz to have an evidentary hearing to prove Britney is, indeed, mentally competent to retain her own counsel. Jamie is also expected in court, where it's thought he'll be asking to have the conservator's orders enforced, so that his oldest daughter can get the medical treatment she needs.

Britney's First Night Home From The Hospital

The following italicized article is taken from www.people.com:

Britney Spears spent her first night out of the hospital at home with her family, after what was a dramatic day with the pop star driving around L.A.

After her surprise early release from the UCLA Medical Center's psych ward, Spears spent much of Wednesday bouncing around the city – speeding off with one paparazzi pal, getting a room at the Beverly Hills Hotel and visiting with lawyer Adam Streisand.

But the singer's first night of freedom was uneventful (at least from the outside). After sneaking out of the law office in Century City, the 26-year-old singer and her paparazzo-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib reportedly stopped at a restaurant in the Valley. The two were then driven back to Spears's Summit Circle house in Studio City by a photographer from the X17 photo agency.

The singer's father, Jamie – who has been named co-conservator of her $40-million fortune – was spotted at the Beverly Hills Hotel Wednesday evening and was "tired looking," says one witness. He was briefly escorted to a room, but later returned to the Summit house, where Spears, Ghalib, and the singer's mother, Lynne, were all gathered.

After midnight, Lynne drove away from the house in her Range Rover. Mobbed by photographers, she ducked behind the steering wheel to shield herself from the snappers.

As night turned into morning, Spears and Jamie remained inside the house.

Spears's confidante, Sam Lutfi – who has been accused of drugging Britney and has been ordered to keep his distance from the singer – has yet to resurface.

Britney And Adnan Visit Her Lawyer

The following italicized article is taken from www.tmz.com:

Fresh from a quick jaunt to the Beverly Hills Hotel, Britney and Adnan drove to the L.A. offices of lawyer Adam Streisand.

When TMZ called Streisand's office, we were directed to the marketing department. Huh?

Brit's Lawyer Knows How To Make A Statement!

The following italicized articles is from www.x17online.com:

A statement with clothing, that is - check out that snazzy purple tie! Britney's new attorney, Adam Streisand, might've been denied conservatorship by the court today (Brit's dad Jamie still holds that position), but at least he was sharply dressed!

What do we think of this guy? Streisand disagreed with the court investigator's evaluation of his client today, describing Brit as "lucid."

Britney needs trustworthy people in her life right now, and we hope Adam is just that!

How could he not be - after all, he's one of Barbra's relatives!

Britney Court Blow-By-Blow

The following italicized articles is from www.tmz.com:

Here are the headlines from today's court hearing:

Jamie Spears is still the co-conservator of Britney's estate, as is Andrew Wallet.

The Commissioner did not give the conservators the power to fire Trope and Trope, Brit's divorce lawyers. The Commissioner said, based on the restraining order, Sam Lutfi can have no contact whatsoever with Britney -- including e-mails, phone contact, etc.

The Commish extended the conservatorship to Valentine's Day.

The Commissioner said Adam Streisand had no legal basis for claiming he's Britney's new lawyer. There will be a hearing at some point to determine just how mentally competent Britney is.

Court Continues Conservatorship Over Britney; Orders Singer To Have No Contact With Lutfi

The following italicized article is from www.accesshollywood.com:

Jamie Spears’ temporary conservatorship over his daughter, pop singer Britney Spears, was extended on Monday afternoon, after a ruling by Los Angeles Court Commissioner Reva Goetz.

Jamie Spears was made co-conservator, along with attorney Adam Wallett, last Friday by Commissioner Goetz and the decision was upheld despite a challenge by a lawyer Spears attempted to hire herself from inside the psych ward at UCLA’s Medical Center.

The temporary conservatorship was extended until a February 14 hearing as a result of Monday’s hearing.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, as a result of the conservatorship, Jamie Spears and Adam Wallett will have power over Britney, allowing them the ability to make decisions on Britney’s behalf, including those related to her residence, credit cards and finances. The conservators will have the power to change the locks on her homes and have access to Britney’s liquid assets – as well as being able to hire and fire attorneys for the singer.

Their conservator rights were expanded, but at the end of Monday’s hearing, it was unclear exactly how far the types of decisions the temporary conservatorship rights extended to.

During the hearing, Adam Streisand, from the firm Loeb & Loeb, said that Spears, whose stay in the psych ward at the UCLA Medical Center was extended over the weekend for an additional 14 days (beyond her initial 72-hour hold), had hired him.

After listening to testimony from a court appointed medical evaluator however, the Commissioner ruled Streisand could not represent Spears.

Streisand had earlier told the court that Britney Spears wanted Northern Trust Bank to be her conservator instead of her father and Wallett.

Commissioner Goetz also appointed a physician to evaluate Britney Spears’ and the evaluation is due by February 13.

During the hearing, Wallett revealed he was upset that Sam Lutfi, Britney Spears’ self-professed “manager,” refused to open the door when they attempted to serve him notice of Friday’s restraining order, barring him from seeing or communicating with the pop singer.

It was revealed that despite the restraining order, Lutfi has been in contact with the pop singer.

At Monday’s hearing, Goetz also ruled that Spears is to have no communication with Lutfi, through any means.

Additionally, it was noted for the record that Lutfi would soon be served with notice of the restraining order.

Attorney: Britney Spears Objects to Father's Control

The following italicized article is from www.people.com:

Britney Spears expressed "strong desire" against her father's temporary control over her affairs – including her $40 million fortune, a lawyer said in court Monday.

Her father's conservatorship "would only cause further distress, agitation and estrangement," said estate attorney Adam Streisand, who asserted he was hired by Spears over the weekend.

In addition, Streisand argued that co-temporary conservator Andrew Wallet "simply doesn't have the knowledge" to manage Spears's vast estate, which he valued at $40 million, he said at a hearing.

Streisand, who's reportedly related to the singer of the same name, instead suggested that Northern Trust Bank be named as the temporary guardian of her wealth.

Jamie Spears, wearing a navy suit, was present in the courtroom, looked solemn, but did not speak.

His lawyers began with an opening statement asserting that Jamie Spears has no interest in taking her wealth, but rather watching over it until his daughter recovers, with the eventual hope she's reunited with her children.

Wallet vehemently argued that the court be shown proof that Britney Spears was of sound mind to hire Streisand.

Spear's 'Lacks Capacity' to Hire a Lawyer

A court-appointed lawyer for Britney Spears was also present, and testified that he met with the singer at the hospital Sunday for about 10 minutes.

He added that in his opinion, the pop star "does not understand the nature of these proceedings" or their impact on her future. He added, "I think she's lacks capacity" to hire a private lawyer.

It was also revealed by Jaime Spears's attorneys that despite a restraining order issued Friday, the singer's pal Sam Lutfi had "spoken to Ms. Spears by telephone."

The father's lawyers expressed difficulty at subpoenaing Lutfi with the order, saying he would not answer the door when a person came to serve him recently.

The court was then closed to the public, and no rulings of whether to replace her father as temporary conservator have been reached thus far.

Mentally, Brit is Out to Lunch

The following italicized article is from www.tmz.com:

In court today, a court-appointed lawyer told the Commissioner he visited Britney yesterday just after 5:00 PM PT in the hospital. He concluded that Brit is not currently competent enough to understand the nature of the current legal proceedings, nor does she appreciate the impact that it has on her life.

The lawyer also said Britney lacks capacity to retain a lawyer.

That could be a big problem for Adam Streisand, who is trying to prove that Britney hired him.

Lawyer Says Brit Worth $40 Million

The following italicized article is from www.tmz.com:

TMZ is in the courtroom where attorney Adam Streisand just asked the court commissioner to 86 Jamie Spears as conservator of Brit's estate.

Streisand said Brit's estate is worth $40 million. He also said Brit is in the middle of a $17 million IRS audit and she has 15 different businesses.

Streisand asked that the Commissioner name Northern Trust Bank and Howard Grossman, Brit's business manager, as conservators.

Here's the rub-- the Commish wasn't convinced that Streisand, the second cousin of Babs, was properly retained by Britney. So far, no decisions have been made.

Brit's New Lawyer -- A Real Yentl!

The following italicized article is from www.tmz.com:

TMZ has learned Britney's new lawyer, Adam Streisand, is related to Babs herself, and he's not afraid to name drop!

Adam is Barbra's second cousin, though he's said publicly said they don't speak and that she's a very private person.

But we're told in private, Adam's quite willing to talk about the lineage.

Adam has been brought in by Trope and Trope to challenge Brit's conservatorship -- in particular, the appointment of Brit's dad, Jamie.
