The U.S. seriously got jipped. Like, the kind of jipped where your ass works a 12 hour shift waiting tables, when your last party of the night full of stupid middle schoolers dines and dashes. You can't decide whether you want to just say fuck it or chase them down and punch them in their braces.
European iTunes gets another bonus track! The song is titled "Quicksand," produced by Fernando Garibay ("Amnesia") and Lady Gaga. Xtina's gonna flip a shit.
"It came about quickly and in an unconventional way," Gaga reveals about writing "Quicksand" for Britney. "It's an amazing song but there's nothing like having a superstar singing your lyrics. Then it just so happened that she heard another song that I did with a different producer that she also gravitated towards and I don't even know if she knew that I wrote it. I was supposed to go in and produce her vocals but I couldn't do it because I was on tour, but I heard that she is dancing her pants off in the studio and so excited."
In addition to being a performer, you’ve written songs for the Pussycat Dolls and have just written a couple of songs for Britney Spears’ upcoming album. How did that situation come about?
LG: It came about quickly and in an unconventional way. I wrote the songs thinking it might be for my own record and then Larry Rudolph (Britney’s manager) was sort of lurking around when we were in the studio and heard one of them and I got a call saying that Britney wants it and I said, “Give it to her - let her have it.” My record was pretty much done anyway. It’s an amazing song but there’s nothing like having a superstar singing your lyrics. Then it just so happened that she heard another song that I did with a different producer that she also gravitated towards and I don’t even know if she knew that I wrote it. I was supposed to go in and produce her vocals but I couldn’t do it because I was on tour, but I heard that she is dancing her pants off in the studio and so excited.
Lady Gaga confirms on a Youtube video, that the song she wrote for Britney was originally made for herself. In a short interview she is asked “Hows that going? How are you thinking to be working with Britney?” GaGa replies “Well, I actually recorded the song for myself.. Larry Rudolph came in to say hello, he’s her manager, he heard the record that I did, and he was like ‘who the hell is this? Britney’s gotta sing this” Britney recorded the song in no time as GaGa explains “she did this in 2 hours”
PS: This is the same song Darkchild was talking about in an interview a couple months ago. He described it as dancey, uptempo, and very “hook friendly”.
In response to the flood of comments ive received re: britney due to my radio interview. yes. rumors are true. i wrote TWO songs on it :). And no i will never tell you the names, buy her album and find me in the credits. And her comeback is going to make you all pee yours pants and wish you never posted those dumbass utube videos. Because really, what is more rockn'roll than going on stage under the influence in your panties. Nothing! Absolutely nothing. And yes im partial because, i used to do that. Love love love you B.
Interviewer: You surely earned even more gay fans with the recent announcement that you wrote a track for Britney’s upcoming album. Was that a dream come true?
Lady Ga Ga: Yeah. I was working with Rodney Jerkins on Pussycat Dolls, and we wrote this song - I almost slipped and told you the name. Thank God I caught myself; I respect her a lot, so I was to give her control over that. When we were done with the song, I was like, "Oh, I want to sing it," but my album was already closed. It never even crossed my mind that she was doing a new record. Then Rodney played it for [Britney's manager] Larry Rudolph, who was in the studio. Rodney called me later and was like, "Britney's people are freaking out about this song." Ultimately, she makes the decisions, so when I found out that she loved it and was going to record it, it was amazing. I actually heard it yesterday with her on it for the first time, and I really had chills.
Lady Ga Ga, 22, made the rounds on radio stations 99.9 FM & Z103.5 in Toronto today, and revealed she is working with Britney, and has already written & recorded two songs for Brit. The reader went on to say:
quote:
"When Mad-Dog (one of the morning show hosts) asked her [Lady Ga Ga] when the album would be released, she went on to say that she "couldn't imagine it would be this year," but probably mid-2009, as Britney was very much in the early stages of the album when she worked with her. She also went on to say that the album is very much a continuation to "Blackout," but 10 times bigger in production value, and that the comeback would have people "regretting putting those videos of her on YouTube."
Lady Ga Ga says her goal as an artist is to "funnel a pop record to a world in a very interesting way. I almost want to trick people into hanging with something that is really cool with a pop song. It's almost like the spoonful of sugar and I'm the medicine."
LGG is just one of many producers Britney is working with for her next album, including Jonathan JR Rotem, Sean Garrett, Guy Sigsworth, Danja. Jim Beanz, Darkchild, Kara Dioguardi, Taio Cruz, Babyface, Dallas Austin, Polow Da Don, Damon Elliott, The Runawayz, Fredwreck, Bloodshy & Avant, Bryan-Michael Cox, and now Lady Ga Ga.
