Britney's BH Has Issues
Buzz: Britney Spears 'Very Happy' – But Not Engaged
Not all the bad news out of Australia about Britney Spears is true.
Although she was in fact embroiled in a lip-syncing controversy, reports that her agent-boyfriend Jason Trawick abruptly left the country after rejecting her wedding proposal are "100 percent absolutely false," says a source close to the couple. "There was no proposal and they were never engaged."
The couple of more than six months had spent time together across Australia with her two boys, Preston and Jayden, while Spears performed on stops of her Circus tour. When Trawick headed back to L.A. instead of spending the holidays it was simply a matter of logistics. "Jason spent more time in Australia than originally planned," says the source. "They are very happy."

Britney Spears' Shopping Trip in Melbourne Hit on Twitter
FANS of Twitter hijacked a shopping expedition by pop star Britney Spears in Melbourne yesterday.
Spears, who performed her final Melbourne concert at Rod Laver Arena last night, went on a shopping spree at Myer in Bourke St.
The entertainer spent $4618.45 in the spree that lasted just over 45 minutes.
Spears bought pieces from the Jack and Milly childrens wear range for her sons Jayden James and Sean Preston.
For herself she selected a coat from the Penny Black label, a cardigan from the Armani Jeans range, several items of clothing from the Cacharel and DKNY ranges, and a party frock by popular Australian designer Camilla and Marc.
Spears private shopping expedition became a huge spectator event with people posting word of her planned shopping trip on their Twitter pages.
Word quickly spread and about 300 fans waited at Myers Little Bourke St entrance to get a glimpse of the star.
In preparation for her visit, Myer curtained off an area on level one of its store and organized a selection of items for her to check out in private.
Two of Spears burly security guards lingered around Myers cosmetic department, near where her signature fragrance was on display, from midday.
The performer, dressed in black, carrying a large red handbag, and wearing large dark sunglasses with her hair tied in a messy bun, arrived at Myer around 4.30pm and moved through the store surrounded by an entourage of about eight people.
She gave Myer the thumbs up as she left, saying she had bought lots of "good stuff.

According to police there, it happened around 4:30 PM during a bad storm. The winds became too strong and blew the truck off the road, rolling it over.

Britney Spears Channeled 'Classy' Madonna In 'Radar' Video
Britney Spears has been compared to Madonna since she leapt onto the pop scene, dancing around in a schoolgirl uniform. The two did eventually hook up for "Me Against the Music," but Britney's video for "Radar," from her Circus album, really paid tribute to the pop queen and her ultra-glamorous Bedtime Stories period.
In the video, Britney is stuck in a love triangle with two very sexy polo players, who spend a good part of their time trying to woo Spears or riding their horses. Spears hooked up with "Boys" director Dave Meyers for an ode to Madonna's "Take a Bow."
"That was the premise behind 'Radar.' [We were] looking for a way to take her into a contemporary, classy environment," Meyers explained. "I felt empowered by referencing Madonna's video. Britney hasn't done anything like that."
Meyers had a very clear idea of how he wanted the story line to work. "There is a narrative going on, a romantic triangle on a weekend at this polo mansion," he said. "A soap-opera romance."
Britney apparently got nervous around the guy playing her lover (not her official boyfriend) in the clip, but Meyers said that shyness captured the essence of Britney. "She was really shy with this guy. She's really pretty here too," he said. "I think it's the Britney a lot of us know and love. It was nice to bring that out in her."
Despite the song's midtempo dance groove, the video is noticeably choreography-free. "I don't miss the dancing," he said. "When I watch, I feel like all the cuts and the dissolves keep the pace of the song alive."

Britney Spears' 'Womanizer' Clip Proved She Still Had It
By the time 2008 rolled around, Britney Spears had once again taken her rightful place as the pre-eminent princess of pop. There was no question about it: Britney was back and "Womanizer" confirmed it. After all, what better way to show everyone you're back than to appear naked in a sauna?
"It was an actual sauna and we built a big tent around it ... and Britney, naked again. I guess I have one of the best jobs in the world," Joseph Kahn, who also shot Britney in the nude for her "Toxic" clip, told MTV News. "I was like, 'You know, if we do this video, and she went through all this work to get a new paint job, I was gonna show off the paint job — she's gonna be naked in this video.' "
The idea, however, like so many videos before, was all Britney's suggestion. "She pitched to me a very detailed idea of what she wanted to do," Kahn explained. "She wanted to dress up in costume, she wanted to follow her man to work, and she eventually wanted to show at the end that she is all three of those women."
He went on to say that this video was the one where he and Britney would prove that she was still at the top of her game. "It was, like, her first video that no one really knew if she could even come on set, you know? It was just a big question as to you know, like, what would that video look like?" he said. "What shape would she be in? Can she really dance? Can she perform? Who is she at this point?
" 'Womanizer,' for me, was a great experience on a personal level, because it completely verified that she was coming back," he continued. "By the time I worked with her on 'Womanizer,' you know, that was the Britney that I knew and it was a fun experience for me."
Kahn had to basically turn the video around overnight, and it was worth all the hard work — the video quickly became a fan favorite. "By the time it got out — and the beautiful thing about the Internet is that you get instant reaction — the reaction seemed to be very positive. I'm going to sound like such a wuss, but I think I cried," he said. "That sounds super lame, but come on, man — that's five days of some serious stress. And I had to end the video on her smiling, for sure. Like, we just need to tell everybody that she's OK."

Britney Spears Took Aim At The Media In 'Piece Of Me' Video
Britney Spears might not have been at her personal peak when she released Blackout in 2007, but she also wasn't afraid to show the world that she was in on the joke.
On her single "Piece of Me," Britney sings about how every move she makes is reported by the media. And what better place to film a video for the song than in a nightclub with reporters and paparazzi trying to capture Brit's every move?
"On 'Piece of Me,' I really just wanted to put the mirror back onto the whole experience," director Wayne Isham told MTV News about the video's concept, which finds Britney flirting with boys and dancing around the club. "You can see that she had that kind of confidence. And, literally, every take became a more and more confident take, so that she could have fun with what was going on. Not being over-the-top sarcastic, but ... having a laugh at everything that was going on around her, with confidence."
At the time, Britney had become a tabloid staple. And, even when she was trying to get her career back on track, it seems the paparazzi were there to mess with any comeback plans. "She was late," Isham recalled. "People made a big thing about it, [but] how could she not be late, when you have 50, 65, 75 people running down the street chasing her car? That was a long day for the crew. It was literally a 20-hour day for the crew. She was there for the last six hours of it. She got there late, showed up and just kicked ass."
Isham encouraged the pop star to get loose for the video and (literally) let her hair down.
"The very last dance of the piece, she had her hair up, and I go, 'Can you just do one for me with your hair down?' She dropped her hair down," Isham recalled. "You'll see we intercut with her hair up and her hair down. That was the last piece. She just rocked it from her heart. She choreographed that last dance at the very end. She did that on her own and said, 'Let's go for it.'"
The video, which earned the singer three VMAs in 2008, would prove that no matter what was happening in her life, she could bring it. "When she goes for it, she goes for it," Isham said. "You know, it's about the story line, it's about her dance, it's about her appearance," he said. "I just love that she's one of the few that are still left that step up to what music videos are about."

Britney Spears: 'The Singles Collection'
Rating: 5/5 stars
When Britney released '...Baby One More Time' at the tail-end of the last century, few would have predicted that she'd still be around today. Sure, it quickly became obvious that the track - reportedly rejected by TLC - was one of the great pop singles, but the history books are littered with the remains of stars that instantly light up the charts only to burn up just as fast. Despite some filler-heavy albums, Britney has always been something else, and this compilation perfectly captures the career of one of the best singles artists of the last ten years.
Where her 2004 Best Of, My Prerogative, was let down by some needless inclusions, unsatisfying sequencing and under-written new material, the 18-track Singles Collection is as lean as the star herself after a couple of months on the road. Better still, it features the best singles from the Blackout and Circus albums, which salvaged Britney's career as a pop artist in the face of a personal breakdown. The only possible quibble is having newbie '3' tacked on the start rather than the end - ruining the otherwise chronological tracklisting - but in the grand scheme of things that matters not-a-jot.
Running from '...Baby One More Time' to 'Radar', you get a single-disc timeline that shows a progression in style and substance from school uniform-wearing pop ingénue to sultry motorik saucepot. There's an argument that the 65-minute run-time should have been extended to include a few more songs, but in the main it's the slowies that have been dropped, and that's no bad thing. Of course, there's little you can say about the songs themselves that hasn't already been said. Hits like 'Toxic' and 'Oops!... I Did It Again' proved their cultural cachet by featuring in Doctor Who and John & Edward's most magical moment respectively. Even the oft-forgotten 'Stronger' boasts two stone-cold classic pop moments: the lyrical inversion of her debut hit ("My loneliness ain't killing me no more") and that sound drop-out at two-and-a-half minutes that teases before the chorus slams back in.
Britney's voice has long been a source of contention, but while the debate about the value of a lip-synced live concert continues to rage, this compilation underlines her worth as a distinctive pop singer, at least on record. She certainly doesn't have the pipes of contemporaries Christina or Shakira, let alone the likes of Mariah or Whitney, but as last year's X Factor finalists showed, it's not as easy as it looks to make these songs sound as good as they do here.
And there's nothing that sounds out of place. The thematic muddle of wedging a coming-of-age ballad ('I'm Not A Girl...') between two slabs of sexed-up hip-pop ('Slave 4 U', 'Boys') looks dodgy on paper, but sounds perfect in the listening. Best of all is the double-header of 'Everytime' and 'Gimme More', where you get Brit's best ballad jammed up against a throbbing robopop thriller that's rightfully survived her infamous VMAs performance. The only arguable weak link is the Madonna-featuring 'Me Against The Music', but in this context what once looked like a respectful passing of the baton now seems like an unconditional surrender of pop Queendom to its rightful heir.

Britney Spears And Madonna 'Tease' Fans In 'Me Against The Music' Video
It was the changing of the guard — or at least the meeting of two of the most influential pop divas of all time — when Britney Spears and Madonna hooked up for Brit's single "Me Against the Music," from 2003's In the Zone. The superstars tantalize the audience (and each other) throughout the flirty video.
"Madonna is an icon of an earlier generation, and then Britney of the newer generation. She was at her peak at that point," director Paul Hunter told MTV News about the video. "So it was a challenge to kind of bring both of the worlds together. I wanted it to be a bit of a cat-and-mouse sort of game and a little bit of a foreplay between Britney and Madonna and just sort of tease the audience."
A few years back, Britney revealed that the collaboration came together thanks to the 2003 VMAs — you know, the show where Britney and Madonna locked lips. "I was in the middle of rehearsals for the VMAs and I played her the song, and she was like, 'That's your first single, right?' " Britney recalled. "I was like, 'Yeah, hopefully.' She was like, 'I really like it.' I was like, 'Really?' I was like, 'Well, you wanna do it with me?' She said, 'Yeah.' "
Hunter said the video was all about setting Spears and Madonna apart. "I try to play opposites, when you have Britney in dark and Madonna in white," he said. "And then we see them kind of dance around the bed ... and you think they're gonna get on top of each other and do something crazy."
But Spears said nothing crazy was supposed to happen; it was all about teasing people. "I never actually see Madonna or touch her; I just feel her presence there," she said. "[The song is] basically about just going to a club and letting yourself go and battling with whoever is around you and battling against the music as well. This is my first time doing a collaboration, and it's with Miss Madonna herself."

Britney, Jason & The Boys: One Big Happy Family!
Britney Spears and her manager/boyfriend Jason Trawick, may have been frolicking aboard a yacht called Oscar on Nov. 15 — but it might as well have been named The Love Boat.
The pair, along with Brit’s two sons, Sean Preston, 4, and Jayden James, 3, looked every bit the committed couple while sailing in Sydney Harbour, and friends tell OK! their affection for one another is as unsinkable as the 108-foot vessel on which they cruised.
“Jason adores her and just wants to be with her,” a pal of the pair, who went public with their romance in June, tells OK!. “He’s proactive with the boys and works hard to show Britney how committed he is to her and to her family.”
Indeed, Jason, 37, does seem to go the extra mile for Brit, 27. Sources tell OK! he spent every night with the singer at her L.A. home after their trip to Mexico in October. And then, of course, he flew halfway around the world to support Britney on her Australian Circus tour.
“Britney trusts him implicitly with the kids and feels more secure going to work when he’s with them,” says the friend.” What’s more, Sean and Jayden appreciate his presence, too. “He’s a total hero to them,” another Brit insider reveals to OK!.
“He’s a natural. Britney loves to see the boys with Jason. It just seems so right.” Echoes the first pal,”The kids adore him and call him ‘Jase.’ He is amazing, engaged, caring, fun — even [ex husband] Kevin [Federline] likes him.”

Britney Spears' Style Is 'So Real,' Christian Siriano Says
Britney Spears has made a career out of crawling around onstage and dancing through her videos in barely there outfits. But when it comes to really nailing down the one moment that Britney was at her most stylish, designer Christian Siriano says it's all about her understated look when she performed onstage with Madonna in 2008.
"My favorite Britney moment was when she was kind of having this tiny bit of a comeback, right at the beginning," he told MTV News. "And it was when she wore the beautiful black pants and that white blouse onstage with Madonna. I thought that was so chic and so not her, so that's why I really liked it."
Britney also dazzled Siriano's senses at the 2008 VMAs. "And then obviously when she won all of her music awards recently in that sequin dress," he recalled. "And she looked really chic, but I liked it. I think it worked."
She also could do no wrong at the 2001 VMAs. "She did wear a black Dolce and Gabbana minidress, like, years and years ago," he remembered. "That was good. That was really good. Even though it was crazy, that was good."
Siriano said he would love to tackle the challenge of designing a little something for the pop star. He's already got Lady Gaga on his résumé, so why not?
"I always say, 'Britney, I would love to do it,' " he said. "I would love to make something fabulous for her because fashion-wise, it's very interesting. She's one of the biggest pop icons but ... it's never about clothes ever. It's so weird, because every other of these pop divas it's so much about clothing and fashion, and it's not with Britney. It's very strange."
But, Siriano applauded her down-to-earth, girl-next-door sense of style. "On her down days, she's just a normal girl and in her cutout jeans and Uggs and cutoff T-shirt," he said. "And I think it's kind of cool that it's so real."

Britney Spears Happy Meeting Young Fans Backstage in Sydney at Acer Arena
SHE was hardly wearing the outfit of a nurturing mother, but Britney Spears was happy to show her maternal side as she met some of her younger fans.
Spears, who will perform her final Sydney show tonight before heading to Brisbane, hung out with Randwick Children's Hospital patients Jessica Sukkar, Amelia Sukkar and Sonia Tadros backstage after her concert on Tuesday night.
And the US pop princess has been playing the doting mother with her own children while in the harbour city, taking sons Sean Preston and Jayden James to Sydney Aquarium on Wednesday.
Spears, who has already performed three shows at Rod Laver Arena, will return to Melbourne with her Circus tour on November 27, and then finish in Adelaide on November 29.

Britney Spears Declared Her Independence With 'I'm Not A Girl' Video
The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:
Britney Spears had been grappling with her budding adulthood when she released her third album, simply titled Britney, in 2001. With songs like "Overprotected" and "Let Me Be," Spears seemed to be letting out her adolescent angst. But on the single "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman," which was also featured on the soundtrack for her flick "Crossroads," the singer wanted the world to know that she was ready to be treated like an adult.
For the video, director Wayne Isham just wanted to have Britney out in nature — even if the setting seemed a bit dangerous for a pop star. "I go, 'Let me check it out first,' " Isham told MTV News about having Britney stand on the edge of a cliff. "She understood that if my fat ass was out there and I could stand there, then she could stand there," he laughed.
The singer might have been willing to take the risk, but she still had some trepidation about standing on a cliff. "The wind started picking up a lot and almost dropped me over," Spears recalled. "And I was like, 'OK, gotta go.' "
Nonetheless, Isham loved the way the video looked and said there was no green screen involved. "She went out there and, without a safety cable, just stood there with those cowboy boots on," he said. "She was standing on the edge in her cowboy boots, looking hot. We'd be right on the edge, and she had not a blink of fear."
Spears said in 2001 that the song was actually intended for the "Crossroads" soundtrack before she included it on her album. "The song was written for the movie once we had the decision to make the music part of the movie," she said. "It's an inspirational song, and it's probably one of my favorite songs that I've ever sang."
And the video is one of Isham's favorites too. "I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience with her and what she's doing right now," he said. "She stepped into it with positive energy. She ended up stepping out and kicking ass."

How Britney Spears' 'Stronger' Video Made Her A Diva
The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:
Up until the release of "Stronger," Britney Spears had not yet truly made the leap from teen pop star to femme fatale. Most — if not all — of her videos were glossy, pastel-colored romps about falling in and out of love. It wasn't until she worked with Joseph Kahn on "Stronger," from her 2000 Oops! ... I Did It Again LP, that Spears began to emerge as a darker, more dangerous version of sexy.
"For 'Stronger,' she said, 'I would like to dance in a chair and drive in a car and break up with [my] boyfriend,' " Kahn told MTV News. " 'Those are your three elements.' And then, as a director, you go, 'OK, well, how do I make that cool?'
"I think this video is interesting because it's got a very sophisticated, adult look to it," Kahn (who has helmed dozens of music videos, including Brit's "Womanizer" and Chris Brown's "Crawl") continued. "It's definitely a departure from the sort of candy-colored videos she was doing before, so I always thought this was the transition between Britney the teenage pop star and Britney the sort of diva she became."
Kahn ended up taking those elements and creating a semi-futuristic world in which Spears walks into a club, breaks up with her cheating boyfriend and triumphantly walks in the rain, knowing her life is better off without him. But it was the pivotal dance sequences with the metal chair that defined the aesthetic for the video.
"She pitched it to me as an original concept by herself, but the first thing that came to my mind when I thought of the chair sequence, in terms of how it applies to music videos, was Janet Jackson's 'Pleasure Principle' — the iconic chair sequence in that." Kahn recalled.
Like Jackson, Spears wasn't afraid to get sexy in the clip, even if her handlers were a bit nervous that she was going too far. "There's a shot here where I'm tracking with her, and her legs are spread, and Larry [Rudolph], the manager, was like, 'Don't do that.' " Kahn said. "And she was like, 'Yes, definitely do that.' "
Oddly enough, one aspect of the video that Kahn was insistent upon was Spears' eye shadow. "One of the big things I wanted to do here, that I was just obsessed with ... I know it sounds really strange, but I wanted her to have gray eye shadow," he said. "And I think it looks really good. I remember when I was looking at the close-ups, Britney goes, 'You're really obsessed with this gray eye shadow!' and I go, 'Yes, absolutely.' But if you look at it, it just makes her eyes pop like crazy."

Michael Buble Defends Britney
MICHAEL Buble has defended Britney Spears as the controversy surrounding her Australian tour grows.
"You'd think she killed someone," Buble said in Melbourne yesterday. "
As an artist, and a human being, some of what has been written about her is so nasty. OK, she lip-synchs her show, people know that, they make the decision if they want to go and see her do that.
Does she deserve the way she's been completely bashed by the media here? No.
"Mind you, I lip-synch all my concerts, I'm the Milli Vanilli of jazz."

Britney Spears Fought For 'Oops! ... I Did It Again' Red Catsuit
The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:
Britney Spears had everyone buzzing after releasing several sexy videos from her debut album, including the pop-tart clips for " ... Baby One More Time" and "(You Drive Me) Crazy." So when Britney released the first video from her second album for "Oops! ... I Did It Again," she decided not to mess with a good thing and once again worked with frequent collaborator Nigel Dick, who this time reinvented Spears as a sexy, otherworldly vixen.
" 'Oops!... I Did It Again' was the first single from her second album, so there's definitely the sense that this is Britney's second album," Dick told MTV News about the expectations surrounding the video's release in 2000.
Like the concepts for her earlier videos, Britney also had a very clear idea of what she wanted for the now iconic "Oops!" clip. "This whole idea was my idea," she told MTV in 2000. "I was like, 'I want to be on Mars, dancing on Mars.' "
But it seems that the pitch she gave Dick at the time was even more specific than just dancing on Mars. " 'I want to be in a red jumpsuit. I want to have a really cute spaceman, but there can't be any rockets,' " Dick said, recalling Spears' request for the now-unforgettable red-latex catsuit. "There was another catsuit, actually, which was fantastic, which I loved, and the night before, I was told that Britney hired this guy that worked with Michael Jackson," the director said. "And so we're going to use that catsuit. So that's the catsuit."
Spears revealed that there was a bit of a freak accident on the set. "There was a camera, and there was an overhead shot, and they were filming me and the camera fell," she said. "And it kind of knocked me out, and there was drama ... but it was fine."
Another key part of the song, when Britney starts talking about "Titanic," posed a bit of a problem for Dick, but it wasn't one Spears felt she needed to deal with. "There's a bit about the Titanic in the middle, and I was like, 'What are we going to do about that?' " he recalled, laughing. "And she says, 'Don't worry. You'll sort it out.' "
In 2000, Spears talked about why the video needed to be effects-heavy. "It's really futuristic. It's going to be the first video that I've done to have a lot of special effects," she said. "I think it's more mature. It's edgier. It's funkier. It's fun."

The Britney Bunch Take a Luxurious Cruise
Accompanied by boyfriend Jason Trawick (blonde hair/beard), Britney and her young sons Sean Preston (dark hair) and Jayden James (blonde hair) looked every bit the happy family as they ate al fresco on their launch.
Jason was seen doting on the boys, first playing hide and seek with Jayden on the heavily cushioned seats, before playing Superman with both boys, who took it in turns to be spun in the air by their mum's hunky beau. As the day drew to a close, Britney slipped on Jason's polo shirt to keep the chill away and the happy crowd all disembarked to head back to their hotel.

Britney, Justin, Lakers Sued
Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and the L.A. Lakers have been sued by a company that says they all used knockoffs of their big screen in concert.
Large Audience Display Systems claims in a federal lawsuit in Texas, obtained by TMZ, the concerts in question included a large audience display screen that was identical to their patented, gigantic monitors.
Britney uses the screen on her "Circus" tour. Justin used the monitors on his "FutureSex/LoveShow" tour.
Also sued: The Pussycat Dolls for using the screens as well.
The company wants an injunction prohibiting the defendants from using knockoffs in the future, as well as unspecified damages.

Britney Spears Conservatorship Hearing Continued
There’s no end yet for the Britney Spears conservatorship.
Britney’s lawyers met for three hours on Thursday to hash out a resolution, but none was met, with Commissioner Reva Goetz continuing the hearing until December 3rd.
Geraldine Wylie, an attorney for the conservatorship said she couldn't reveal what was discussed in chambers but said, "Everything is great with Britney, she is doing very well. The tour is great."
The hearing was over in under two minutes.
Britney and her estate were placed under court-ordered temporary conservatorship back in February 2008 following the pop star’s very public melt down and subsequent hospitalization.

'Circus' a Very Good Show
Lets start by getting one thing straight. Rebekah Devlin, who started what quickly developed into Britney-gate this week in Australia, clearly got it very, very wrong. At the Britney Spears show tonight at Rod Laver Arena, there were no mass walk-outs, there were no disgruntled fans and the audience was genuinely entertained.
Just for the record, I am not a Britney fan but ‘Circus’ is a very good show. Forget the “but she mimes” argument. It is irrelevant for Britney. She is a popstar. She has never pretended to be a serious musical act like Radiohead. She is what she is and has never denied it.
Keep in mind at parts of their shows, Cher has lip-synched, Madonna lip-synchs, even Roger Waters did it. So lets just eliminate that from the scorecard and score the Britney show for what it is … a very entertaining show aimed at her core fans.
If you are a Britney fan, you are going to love ‘Circus’. It is over two hours of escapism and yes it is a real circus. Actually, if Ms. Devlin focused on the freak show featuring the midget or an amputee on a trampoline she might have been able to beat-up a better story. Did she even notice that? Not that it mattered. It was visually compelling.
Yes, a Circus it truly is, with magicians, acrobats, a tightrope and … was that Perez Hilton dressed up as The Queen?
The costume changes are covered up with musical segways. One featured Marilyn Manson ‘Sweet Dreams’ and another Michael Jackson ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Something’.
Lets give a special shout-out to the two kids in the front row. Britney’s children Sean and Jayden watched what Mom did for a living with Mom’s new beau Jason Trawick . For the record Ms Devlin, Jayden left earlier so your headline tomorrow should read “Even Britney’s Kid Can’t Stand Her”. Sean left before the encore, so you can beat that up into a headline as well.
In Vegas, this show would be up for “show of the year”. In Perth, based on a one-woman jury, it doesn’t rate at all. Melbourne, the home of Australian theatre, accepted another good show.
Britney is more than 90 shows into a world tour with Circus. How funny that Ms Devlin wasted her 15 minutes of fame on something that has never pretended to be anything more than a pop show.

'TSC' Review
Like 2004's Greatest Hits: My Prerogative, 2009's The Singles runs 17 tracks but the selected songs result in a very different listening experience. To begin with, the five years separating the two compilations were tumultuous ones for Britney Spears, but they resulted in a clutch of hits that kept her on the charts despite all the drama, hits that firmly entrenched Britney as a dance club diva. This stretch of six singles — "Gimme More," "Piece of Me," "Womanizer," "Circus," "If You Seek Amy," "Radar" — along with the excellent new Max Martin-written and produced single "3" (much better than any of the three new cuts on My Prerogative), help push The Singles away from teen pop and toward pure dance-pop bliss, a shift in tone underscored by the virtual absence of ballads (the only one included is "Everytime," which in this context plays a bit as a chill-out number). In some regards, giving her early sticky bubblegum and fluffy ballads a bit of a short shrift does downplay Britney's era of dominance, but it does result in a stronger overall listen, since there are no slow patches here, just a parade of relentless hooks and rhythms that wound up defining the sound of a decade.

Britney Spears' The Singles Collection Hits Stores Today
From the tender age of 16, Britney Spears has been one of the biggest pop stars of her generation. She's proven that even when she's down, she can still make a comeback. On the greatest-hits compilation The Singles Collection — out Tuesday (November 9), but a deluxe version will drop November 23 — fans can revisit their favorite hits in Spears' catalog.
The album includes " ... Baby One More Time," "(You Drive Me) Crazy (The Stop Remix!)," "I'm a Slave 4 U," Toxic" and "Oops! ... I Did It Again" to name a few. The album also features her latest single, "3," the video for which premiered on her site last week.
"When I see her on set, she's extremely professional, and it's a job," video director and frequent collaborator Joseph Kahn told MTV News about working with the pop star over the years. "There's really literally no messing around. Whatever accolades she gets, she deserves."
As for her place among some of the greatest pop artists of all time, Dave Meyers, who directed Spears in videos for "Boys," Lucky" and, most recently, "Radar," shared that she's definitely vying for the Queen of Pop title with Madonna. "She kind of filled [Madonna's] shoes," Meyers said. "[But] everything is done in a Britney way. She's not Madonna, and Madonna is not Britney. It seems like Madonna made the same choices that were right for her at the time, to class her up when she had just done a sexpot video. She was riding that image train too. She was leading that image train, and I think that Britney has done that as well."

Britney Spears Breaks Silence
BRITNEY Spears has hit back at critical media reports of her Circus tour, saying she came to Australia for her fans.
The pop star arrived in the country last week amid controversy over her lip-synching stage performance, and soon faced reports that disappointed fans walked out of her opening show in Perth.
Spears has been keeping a low profile since arriving in Melbourne earlier this week, but she responded to the criticism.
"I hear there is a lot of controversy in the media about my show," Spears said in a statement.
"Some reporters have said they love it and some don't. I came to Australia for my fans!"
Spears is due to play the first of three sold-out shows in Melbourne on Wednesday night, and has been indulging in some retail therapy.
"Went shopping on Collins Street yesterday and got a lot of my Christmas presents. Melbourne is beautiful. Can't wait to see more. -Britney," she wrote on Twitter.
Aussie DJ Havana Brown, who is touring with Spears, said she is surprised by the savaging the pop princess has received here.
Brown said there was no negative reaction from fans and the media about lip-synching and lacklustre performances in Europe, where they toured before Australia.
"I think it's quite well known that she has lip-synched in the past. I don't think it's any surprise to anybody," Brown said.
"There was nothing like that in Europe. I think everyone knew what they were in for, and I think everyone should know here as well.
"I'm not quite sure what the fuss is about."
Brown was personally chosen by Spears' father and manager to open the Circus tour in Europe and Australia.
The Melbourne native gets the crowds warmed up for Spears each night and then sits back to enjoy the spectacle.
She said there was an "incredible response" at the first two shows in Perth, and she hoped Aussie fans would make up their own minds about the concert.
"It's sad. I want people to be positive about her - she's doing so well, and she's looking so good, and the show is amazing," she said.
"I want everyone to make their own opinion, rather than be persuaded by what's been in the media."

Britney Spears: Bikini Babe Down Under
Taking a break from her hectic tour schedule, Britney Spears was spotted cooling off with a trip to her luxury hotel’s swimming pool earlier today (November 10) in Melbourne, Australia.
Joined by her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James as well as her boyfriend Jason Trawick, the “Gimme More” mommy looked to be having a marvelous time as she played in the water while sporting a flirty orange bikini.
It certainly looked like everyone was thoroughly enjoying the rare moment of quality time, especially considering the negativity Brit Brit has been experiencing in the Australian press regarding her lip syncing.
After an hour or so, Miss Spears and Mr. Trawick dried off the youngsters, wrapped them in towels, and carried them back to their room.

Britney Spears' Boys Arrive in Australia
BRITNEY Spears has told the world of her Christmas shopping trip down Collins St as her son and boyfriend land in Melbourne surrounded by media fit for pop royalty.
Spears went on Twitter today, heaping praise on Melbourne.
"Went shopping on Collins Street yesterday and got a lot of my Christmas presents," Spears posted.
"Melbourne is beautiful. Can't wait to see more."
Sean Preston, 4, and Jayden James, 3, arrived at Melbourne Airport with Jason Trawick, her manager and boyfriend, about 9.45am this morning.
It is believed they were aboard a commercial Qantas flight direct from Los Angeles.
The youngsters were surrounded by an entourage of security personnel who worked furiously to shield their faces from a heavy media contingent as they moved through the airport.
Trawick refused to answer any questions put to him by the Herald Sun.
Security protecting Trawick, who was carrying one of his sons, became aggressive with reporters, yelling at them to "back off".
The group was escorted through a secret exit out of the airport by airport staff.
They left in a chauffeured vehicle and are believed to be en route to join their mum at her plush Park Hyatt hotel suite in the city.
Spears, whose first Melbourne show will take place at Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday, is expected to take every opportunity to get out and enjoy the city with her sons.
Spears spent Monday holed up at her luxury inner city hotel. Fans and media waiting for a glimpse of the star were disappointed.
Spears stayed indoors and only once popped an arm out of a window to give fans a brief wave.
She was photographed smoking on her Park Hyatt hotel balcony.

Jet-Lagged Britney Cancels Full Dress Rehearsal
Britney Spears is still managing to keep out of sight while in Perth.
And the reason might be she's been tucked up in bed at the Hyatt Regency suffering a strong dose of jet lag.
Fans, media and paparazzi have been unable to get a glimpse of the star since she landed in Perth in her private jet on Wednesday morning.
Rumours are circling that she has cancelled her planned full dress rehearsal and instead will conduct a simple soundcheck on her own before heading back to her hotel.
The show (or at least the rehearsal) is expected to go on without her.
Word is that Britney's biggest fan has booked herself into the Hyatt in an attempt to get a glimpse of the Toxic singer.

Britney Spears -- The High Price of Sanity
Britney Spears blew through $1.32 MILLION on lawyers in a recent 7-month span -- but the result was priceless.
The money has been used to pay off the lawyers who represented Britney's conservatorship -- the group of people who have essentially restored Britney.
The court order makes it clear: More fees are on the way ... and Britney's conservators need to stash a few bucks away to prepare.
BTW, it cost Britney roughly $280,000 in lawyer's fees to keep Adnan Ghalib, Sam Lutfi and Jon Eardley away from her.
