Taking care of a few daily errands, Britney Spears was spotted out and about shopping for home decor in Beverly Hills on Monday afternoon (August 25).

The “Gimme More” singer sported a white tanktop paired with denim capri pants as she sniffed away at the candles before picking up a few items.

In related news, Brit’s manager Larry Rudolph recently brought an end to rumors that the recovering pop tart was planning on performing at the MTV VMAs on September 7th.

“She did the promo for them, but there never were any plans for her to appear on the show,” a spokesman for Rudolph said.

Nonetheless, Spears is scheduled to attend the show - as she’s up for three VMA awards, including the coveted Video of the Year prize for “Piece of Me”.

Britney was spotted shopping in Beverly Hills for house decorations this afternoon. Britney, in a white tank and low-rise jeans, bought vanilla scented candles and a basket of fake orange flowers from the trendy boutique.

Our Bad, Britney Will Not Perform at the VMAs

Last week, we told you all about a special hairstyle Britney's mane man Kim Vo was preparing for an epic VMA comeback performance. Unfortunately, it turns out he was only speaking theoretically.

Brit's manager Larry Rudolph released this official statement today: "Contrary to media reports, Britney was never slated to perform on this year's VMAs. She's in the middle of recording her next album, which is going amazingly well, and her focus remains on the studio."

Of course, we went back to check with Vo if this was accurate and not some cover for a surprise performance, but he confirmed:

"Any ideas that we have about her hair are always theoretical. And we always have to be prepared. But she is not performing and so we don't have to worry about that."

So, it looks like we'll just have to wait for next year’s VMAs for Britney to redeem herself.

It's Official! Britney Won't Perform at MTV VMAs

"Britney Spears will not be performing at the VMAs this year. I'm telling you officially and unequivocally," Ryan Seacrest quoted her manager, Larry Rudolph, as saying on his KIIS-FM radio show Monday morning.

Rudolph told Seacrest that Spears "is in the middle of recording her next album, which is going amazingly well, and was never supposed to perform at that show."

The possibility of Spears performing had been rumored for weeks. (Her hair stylist Kim Vo even told E! News that he was creating three VMA looks for the singer, hinting that one of the 'dos was for her performance.)

The singer is still involved in the show in some capacity, however.

She is appearing alongside host Russell Brand in cheeky TV spots promoting the September 7 show.

She is also up for three VMAs — including "Video of the Year" — for her song "Piece of Me."
Spears has never won a "Moonman," despite being nominated 17 times.

Last year, she raised eyebrows after her rocky opening performance of "Gimme More." The New York Times called her "awful," writing that she "tottered around the stage, dancing tentatively and doing nothing that sounded or looked like real live singing."

Ryan Seacrest read out an email from Britney's manager Larry Rudolph on his KIIS-FM show Monday morning, August 25, in which Larry termed a recent report on E! that Britney would be performing on MTV VMAs on September 7 as "just wrong."

"Britney Spears will not be performing at the VMAs this year. I am telling you officially and unequivocally that BS will not be there," Rudolph wrote in his email.

Rudolph also added that Britney "was in the middle of recording her next album" which is going amazingly well.

Kim Vo, a renowned colorist for Hollywood A-listers including Britney Spears, who features on E! Entertainment's Daily 10, had told E! News that he could be creating three VMA looks for Britney Spears - for her walk down the red carpet, for the show itself and for her performance!

Britney was spotted at a recording studio with her mom Lynne this afternoon! Britney, wearing a lavender tank, black pants and designer sun glasses, was wooed by fans as she left the studio. Later, Britney and Lynne arrived at M Cafe de Chaya for lunch before heading to Melrose for some shopping.
