While I was off on a much-needed vay-K before the mayhem that was Jonasfest, my esteemed colleague/ blog bestie — Remote Control blogger Control Freak — visited the Los Angeles set last week where VMA host Russell Brand and Britney Spears shot a gotta-see-it-to-believe-it MTV commercial for the upcoming VMAs. Here’s her behind-the-scenes report followed by the exclusive videos, starring Britney.
Britney Spears, an elephant, and a flamboyant ex-crack addict walk into a bar…
Actually it was Stage 25 on the Paramount Studios lot, and this is no joke.
Last Tuesday I had the pleasure of getting up close but impersonal with Britney Spears. Led by a protective entourage of over 10 people, the megastar made a special visit to MTV’s 2008 VMA commercial shoot in Hollywood. Regardless of how long it took her to glam up (uh, two hours), homegirl looked “Hot as Ice” and managed to upstage the enormous elephant in the room.
Her tight, toned figure certainly made an impression on this year’s VMA host, British comedian Russell Brand (or Brown, as Britney jokingly referred to him while the camera rolled). “Britney,” the towering Brit with questionable (as in, “Why? Why? Why?”) hair styling called out, “You must be releasing estrogen or some other chemical that’s beguiling me.”
Well, something was definitely activating Russell’s epicenter of kink — at one point, the unabashed Forgetting Sarah Marshall star spread open his shirt and fondled his “too-tiny nips,” to which an unfazed Britney simply giggled and nonchalantly offered up a quiet, “Really? OK.” Not the response Russell was looking for, so he went at her again with some talk about stimulating her womanly bits. That one did the trick. “Oh My God!!!!!” echoed throughout the stage.
You’ll be having your own OMG moments while watching this year’s VMAs, as Russell clearly doesn’t have a filter — just watch the first few commercials below to get an idea of what the notoriously inappropriate host has in store.
