Britney Spears Declared Her Independence With 'I'm Not A Girl' Video

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:

Britney Spears had been grappling with her budding adulthood when she released her third album, simply titled Britney, in 2001. With songs like "Overprotected" and "Let Me Be," Spears seemed to be letting out her adolescent angst. But on the single "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman," which was also featured on the soundtrack for her flick "Crossroads," the singer wanted the world to know that she was ready to be treated like an adult.

For the video, director Wayne Isham just wanted to have Britney out in nature — even if the setting seemed a bit dangerous for a pop star. "I go, 'Let me check it out first,' " Isham told MTV News about having Britney stand on the edge of a cliff. "She understood that if my fat ass was out there and I could stand there, then she could stand there," he laughed.

The singer might have been willing to take the risk, but she still had some trepidation about standing on a cliff. "The wind started picking up a lot and almost dropped me over," Spears recalled. "And I was like, 'OK, gotta go.' "

Nonetheless, Isham loved the way the video looked and said there was no green screen involved. "She went out there and, without a safety cable, just stood there with those cowboy boots on," he said. "She was standing on the edge in her cowboy boots, looking hot. We'd be right on the edge, and she had not a blink of fear."

Spears said in 2001 that the song was actually intended for the "Crossroads" soundtrack before she included it on her album. "The song was written for the movie once we had the decision to make the music part of the movie," she said. "It's an inspirational song, and it's probably one of my favorite songs that I've ever sang."

And the video is one of Isham's favorites too. "I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience with her and what she's doing right now," he said. "She stepped into it with positive energy. She ended up stepping out and kicking ass."

Britney Spears To Play Lesbian Killer In Quentin Tarantino Film

The following italicized article is from www.telegraph.co.uk:

The singer was apparently chosen by the Pulp Fiction director to play dancer Varla in a remake of the 1965 cult film Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!

The movie sees three thrill-seeking strippers encountering a young couple in the desert.

Spears' character murders the boyfriend with her bare hands before taking the girlfriend hostage. The troubled singer will also have sex scenes with another girl before the drama ends in a blood-bath.

Tarantino is in discussions with other Hollywood stars to take the roles of the remaining two strippers.

A source said: "Quentin is convinced Britney will be brilliant. She's delighted. She thinks it could turn her career around.

"It is perfect Tarantino material. He wanted to get Britney first. She's playing the most important character."

Spears had her first starring role in the 2002 film Crossroads, portraying a high school graduate on a road-trip to find her mother. But despite grossing $60 million worldwide the movie, and Britney's performance, was panned and she received Razzie Awards for Worst Actress and for Worst Original Song.

Spears also made cameo appearances in Austin Powers: Goldmember and Longshot.

Britney's Big Comeback? Britney Spears In Final Negotiations To Star In A "Sadomasochistic Sex Movie"

The following italicized article is from www.weltonline.de:

Britney Spears could be hitting the big screen in a movie that will be a big departure from her 2002 teen flick 'Crossroads'. The 26-year-old singer and mother of two is reportedly in talks to star in a "sadomasochistic sex movie" called 'The Knoxville Carjacking Party'.

The movie, based on the true story of two students who were allegedly carjacked, kidnapped, raped and killed in the Tennessee city, would no doubt pose a number of challenges for the young star.

Concern has been expressed that she will not be able to handle the "intensity" of the disturbing sex scenes. A movie insider said: “‘The Knoxville Carjacking Party’ has a lot of sadomasochistic sex scenes in it. While it’s thought Britney can handle any average sex scenes, these scenes have a lot of intensity in them. She would have to raise her performance level to endure some of these scenes.”

Ghetto Bragging Rights gossip columnist Clarence Star, who broke the story, believes it could be the right career move for Britney, explaining: “People need to see another side of Britney.”
In 2007, Channon Gail Christian, 21, and her 23-year-old friend Christopher Newsom are believed to have been murdered after being carjacked some time between January 6 and January 8.

Will Britney, whose own life has been marred by troubled times be able to delve into this deeply emotional material or would she be better off sticking to the lighter material?

After her very public breakdown in the last year Britney has been making an encouraging comeback, wowing people with her appearance in the TV sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" earlier this year. By starring in this new movie role she might be able to impress audiences even further by raising her professionalism to the next level.

On The Comeback Trail

Britney Spears is scheduled to appear as a guest star on the CBS show How I Met Your Mother.

And that's a good thing!

Look out for BritBrit in the 14th episode of the season.

It's so good to hear that she is getting it together!!

Brit's scenes will reportedly be with the show's lead character, Ted.

An insider revealed that the most likely role for Britney in that episode is "Abby," a girl who works in Ted's doctor's office. She's described as "sweet and friendly and scattered and a little nerdy—a female Michael Cera."

(Her film) Crossroads sucked, but her appearance on Will & Grace was cute. Plus, any work and return to normalcy for her is a good thing. A very good thing.
