Britney Spears Heads to Europe for Circus

The following italicized article is from www.people.com:

Although a long holiday weekend is right around the corner, Britney Spears is getting to work promoting her upcoming album, Circus, in Europe.

The singer boarded a flight from Los Angeles to Frankfurt, Germany on Monday for several appearances in support of the album, which is scheduled to be released Dec. 2.

Spears is traveling with several close associates and family members, including her father, Jamie, and manager Larry Rudolph. According to an eyewitness, the singer – dressed in a brown fedora, black sweatpants and a pink top – jumped out of her white Cadillac Escalade smiling and holding her dad's hand at the airport.

After a short time in Germany, Spears is expected to appear on the French program, Star Academy, and on Simon Cowell's X Factor in England before returning to the U.S. next week. She is scheduled to go on a worldwide tour in the spring of next year.

Spears's candid new MTV documentary, Britney: For the Record, airs Nov. 30.

Britney Gets Muzzled by Daddy Spears

The following italicized article is from www.eonline.com:

Maybe Britney Spears' impersonation of her dad, Jamie, was a little too spot-on?

A week after video surfaced of Brit poking fun at her pop, Papa Spears wasn't about to let his little girl take another crack—literally putting his hand over her mouth as the two made their way through LAX airport.

(Britney's on her way to Europe, where she'll promote Circus in Frankfurt and then perform on France's Star Academy Friday and the English show X Factor on Saturday.)

There's also a report that the pop star and her conservator dad have been fighting over her wanting to see Adnan, go clubbing and take the kids out in public.

Unfortunately, it looks like if Jamie gets his heavy-handed way, we're never gonna get to find out what the family beef is really all about.

Britney Spears Jets Off to Germany

The following italicized article is from www.celebrity-gossip.net:

Ready to start promoting her upcoming album “Circus,” Britney Spears and her dad were spotted at LAX airport to catch a flight to Germany on Monday (November 24).

One of the more interesting moments during the airport arrival was when Britney received a ticket from the traffic police, leading her security staff to take the quite unpleasant disposition towards paparazzi on-the-scene.

After squeezing her way past the crowded masses, the “Gimme More” singer finally got to the security checkpoint, disappearing into the International terminal.

According to press reports, Miss Spears will be uniting with her backup dancers upon arrival - proceeding on with a mini-tour before heading back to the States.

Rolling Stone Cover!

The following italicized article is from www.usatoday.com:

Nearly a year after a breakdown, Britney Spears says she feels as if she has matured.

To be exact, "I feel like an old person now," she says in Rolling Stone's next issue, out Friday. "I do! I go to bed at, like, 9:30 every night, and I don't go out or anything."

Spears turns 27 on Dec. 2, the same day her album, Circus, hits stores. "This is going to be the album that cements her legend status," says her manager, Larry Rudolph.

Indeed, the pop star has come a long way from her two trips to hospital psychiatric wards this year, the magazine says. After the last trip, in early February, her father, Jamie, filed for legal conservatorship so that he and attorney Andrew Wallet would oversee her finances and personal affairs.

Interviewing the star is a "rigorously micromanaged process," according to Rolling Stone.

"We were never left alone together, and my questions had to be submitted ahead of time for approval," reporter Jenny Eliscu writes.

Rudolph says, "Her job is to be Britney Spears, and unfortunately, that job bleeds into her personal life and creates this odd situation where she needs to have security people around her all the time."

That goes for dates, too. Recently, Spears was accompanied by her assistant, Brett, and Rudolph's colleague, Adam Leber. "Right when we got there, we just knew it was just bad," Spears says. "He looked like an older version of Harry Potter, but skinnier. … So I had to get dessert first. And the other date I had, the guy was really, really tall and a lot older. … We're trying to ask him questions, like, 'OK, you're into martial arts, so what kind of martial arts are you into?' And he was like, 'Oh, all kinds.' … But you know how silly we are, so we were just cracking up."

She turns serious on the topic of her children. Despite losing custody of her sons, Preston, 3, and Jayden, 2, to her ex-husband Kevin Federline, Spears has been able to see them more often, thanks in part to the conservatorship.

"Every time they come to visit me, I think about how they're such special people," she says.

She is critical of her ex and says the children "are starting to learn words like 'stupid,' and Preston says the f-word now sometimes. He doesn't get it from us. He must get it from his daddy. I say it, but not around my kids."

Britney Spears: Circus

The following italicized article is from www.telegraph.co.uk:

The metaphor in the title of Britney Spears new album, 'Circus' (out in the UK Monday, December 1) is not exactly subtle.

Her life has been a 21st century version of greasepaints and spot lights, a three ring media circus in which she has been both beautiful high wire star and tragic clown (but never, one suspects, the ringmaster).

Her very public breakdown made for an unedifying yet compelling spectacle, as the former Mickey Mouse starlet visibly melted under the glare of the lights, while the paparazzi slavered. She put her head in the lion's mouth and came out bald and deranged.

Yet the old showbusiness axiom that bad news is better than no news seemed to hold horribly true. Psychiatric problems, weight issues, divorce, driving offences, the loss of custody of her children, the loss of control of her own financial affairs (to her father) and a frankly second rate, auto-tuned and dialled in album (last year's dismal 'Blackout') failed to put her in the bargain bin. Indeed, the Britney brand was so strong, the more she put it at risk, the more fascinated the public became, perhaps because we actually got a glimpse of the real person beneath the machine-built pop babe.

'Circus' has been touted as the return of the super trouper, as a freshly aerobicised Britney gets her career back on track. With its simplistic yet relentless hookline and borderline pornographic video, lead track 'Womanizer' put Spears on the top of the charts. The album should continue the momentum: it's packed with gimmicky pop, yet somehow sweeter and more subtle than the sexually aggressive 'Blackout'.

But for all its slick electro grooves (provided by the best production teams her record company can buy), the real Britney remains very tangibly at the centre, and it is not always a pretty sight.

Where Britney's teen pop was imbued with a kind of candy floss excitement, a hormonal joy in the freedom to dance and flirt, Circus is paranoid, defensive, angry and aggressive, shot through with self-pity. Song titles like 'Mannequin' and 'Shattered Glass' are explicit in their sense of entrapment, but there is a strong dose of self loathing in her relationship with fame. On paparazzi-baiting 'Kill The Lights', she snaps over a glam stomp: "you don't like me, I don't like you either, it don't matter. I think I'm ready for my close-up'.

To the clockwork synth stomp of 'If U Seek Amy' (which, sung fast, becomes 'If you're sick of me', or is it 'Eff, you, see, kay me?') she presumably deliberately hints at the crash-and-burn image of Amy Winehouse, while singing "love me, hate me" and crafting a hookline out of manic laughter ("ha ha hee hee ha ha ho!"). It's not something I would want to play as a character reference to a psychological review board.

Spears's deep ambivalence towards her stardom (which she recently described as "worse than prison") extends to the packaging. On the front cover, she plays to type as a kitsch, soft-focus, airbrushed blonde princess, but the images of her in various circus roles throughout the CD booklet grow progressively more off-kilter and disturbing. On the back, an over-made up figure reclines in gaudy costume, laughing crazily, while a dwarf clown hands her a gaudy birthday cake. This is David Lynch territory, where Spears is trying to have her cake and eat it.

In the fiercely competitive manufactured pop world, you are only as good as your production team. Established hitmakers including Bloodshy and Avant, Max Martin and Dr Luke create some quite boldly weird electro R'n'B tracks that help distinguish Britney from the guitary power pop that seems to be the prevailing trend amongst US starlets from Avril Lavigne to Katy Perry.

Revealingly, however, they don't trust her to sing. Her vocals are liberally doused in robotic effects throughout, which make everything slightly mechanical and uniform. Only British producer Guy Sigsworth (sometime Bjork and Madonna collaborator) turns off the Autotune for a tender, sentimental ballad, 'My Baby', which reveals Spears to have a fragile, thin tone that is weak yet genuinely human and affecting.

Another Sigsworth production, 'Out From Under', is a lovely, understated ballad of escape, while the sweetly bewildered 'Unusual You' has Britney expressing her amazement at a lover who is kind to her ("Didn't anyone tell you / You're supposed to break my heart?').

But for every such subdued and touching moment, you get a blast of almost psychotically upbeat plastic pop, such as 'Mmm Papi', a bonkers go-go tribute to parental devotion that is so over-the-top it is either sarcastic or borderline incestuous, with a cheerleader chant of 'Mmm papa, love you!"

'Circus' is overlong, and overstuffed with gimmicks, but it is still a much better album than anyone had a right to expect from the persecuted star. The pop grooves are nimble and sleek, the ballads understated and touching, the electro ambience modern and strange, the packaging witty and seductive.

Yet it is the strain between these surface pleasures and Britney's psychological torment that actually makes it interesting. The overwhelming impression is of a woman incarcerated in an asylum, playing a game to convince onlookers of her sanity. The cracks are clearly visible beneath the forced smile.

Britney Wants Daddy to Lay Off

The following italicized article is from www.tmz.com:

Britney Spears wants daddy Jamie to become more like Barack Obama, and forget the words, "No You Can't!"

We're told Britney has been fighting with her dad quite often and one of the sore subjects is the dreaded Adnan. Britney wants to see him, but Jamie absolutely refuses. She is still in touch with her douchy ex, but they haven't spent time together -- even though Brit has been asking to see Adnan for months.

She's also been complaining that daddy won't let her go out, especially when she wants to go clubbing at night. Britney also doesn't understand why Jamie won't let her take the kids out during the day.

Bottom line -- she doesn't like her dad as her conservator, but as someone put it, "she likes others even less." On Friday, we're told Britney was complaining about Jamie in court to the Commish -- to the point where she called Brit into chambers with one of the lawyers and spoke with Britney for 45 minutes.

So here's what we're told. Britney is acting like a 15-year-old and isn't very "contrite" about the behavior that led to the conservatorship in the first place.

The good news -- she seems to appreciate what Jamie has done to get her business affairs in order.

Britney To Get Luxury Treatment From Cowell

Simon Cowell is said to be giving up his luxury dressing room for Britney Spears.

Normally guest artistes stay in a luxury Winnebago close to the studios, but the supremo will give up his personal X Factor room to ensure that Britney gets the star treatment for her appearance next Saturday, says a report in the Star.

Simon has reportedly agreed to give up his huge private dressing room for Britney, to ensure her appearance on the show, where she is due to perform her new single Womanizer.

An insider on the show said: "Simon has the most impressive room of the lot and he wanted to make sure Britney got the real star treatment.

"He wanted to impress Britney on her first visit to The X Factor. Simon can be quite territorial over his dressing rooms and even Leona, who is his star protégé, didn't get a look in.''

Britney has said that she will give the "raunchiest performance" ever on The X Factor when she performs on the American Hits Week.

Brian Friedman, show choreographer and friend of the megastar, says that Britney will prove she is back to form.

He said: "I'm not choreographing her routine this time but I've heard it will be spectacular.

"She's going to be super sexy and at her raunchy best."

The following italicized article is from www.thesun.co.uk:

“It has taken months of very patient planning but the hard work has been more than worth it.”

Britney Spears Invites Superfans To Times Square Circus Bash

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:

If you've ever dreamed of running away and joining the circus, December 1 is your night. Assuming, that is, you're near New York's Times Square and you are a Britney Spears superfan. A post on Brit's MySpace page invites her supporters to be part of "Britney's Greatest Fan Contest & Birthday Celebration," asking them to congregate outside the Virgin Megastore in Times Square to celebrate the release of Circus, which hits stores December 2. Britney's looking for her biggest fan, so contestants are being encouraged to "sing, dance, imitate or even profess their love for Britney Spears."

The winner -- to be determined by a panel that includes Heatherette's Richie Rich, Daniel Vosovic of "Project Runway" and other guest judges -- will get a pair of tickets for Britney's "Good Morning America" performance at the Big Apple Circus on December 2. Sign-ups for the contest begin at 9 p.m. that night, and the contest will run from 10 to 11:30, with contestants also getting a chance to score some autographed items.

"Afterwards, help us celebrate Britney's Birthday with a countdown to midnight for the release of her new CD," read the post. "Cupcakes to the first 100 fans to purchase the CD from Billy's Bakery. Special guest DJ Xavier will be spinning Britney mixes and tunes all night long with your hostess for the evening, 'America's Got Talent' 's Shequida!" That afterparty will last until 1 a.m.

And that's not the only Britney contest that's going on.
Britney.com and Buzznet are sponsoring a Photoshop contest in which fans are invited to slip themselves into one of Buzznet's Circus-themed layouts, with the singer's label judging the best efforts and awarding a popcorn machine and other Britney-related prizes. And if none of that floats your boat, since Britney's birthday happens to be December 2, she's also invited fans to sing "Happy Birthday" to her and post it on YouTube, with the winning entry possibly getting posted on Brit's YouTube channel.

American Music Awards 2008: Kevin Federline Fears for Britney Spears?

The following italicized article is from www.nationalledger.com:

Will her performance at the American Music Awards go well for Britney Spears or will the pressure get to her? A report from in Touch Magazine this week notes that Britney Spears may have her life back on track at the moment, but her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, worries that with her American Music Awards show appearances and the upcoming album release and spring tour, the pop star will be unable to handle the pressure.

Kevin knows how fragile she is and feels that she shouldn't be pursuing her career at the expense of her mental health and therefore at the expense of the kids," an insider reveals to In Touch. "He's asked her not to go so fast and has been sharing his concerns."

But according to the report Britney really wants their sons, Sean, 3, and Jayden, 2, to join her on her promotional tour in Europe in December. And so far, Kevin, 30, isn't causing trouble. "The boys may be able to go to Europe and she will comply with whatever the conditions are to make it happen," another insider says.

When Jayden was recently rushed to the hospital because of a reaction to something he are, Britney, 26, feared Kevin would be angry, but an insider says he doesn't blame her. "He wants her to be with her kids and is enjoying time alone for once," the insider says. "Everyone around her rally hopes the tour will work out."

Madonna Tries To Tempt Britney To Kabbalah

With her divorce settled, pop diva Madonna is focusing into converting more A-list stars to kabbalah, and her latest target is troubled singer Britney Spears.

The 50-year-old has already converted actress Gwyneth Paltrow to the controversial Jewish-based faith that she follows. Now she is attempting, for a second time, to persuade Britney to follow suit, reports said.

Madonna's friendship with Spears ended when the troubled singer announced after the birth of her second son, Jayden James: "I no longer study kabbalah. My baby is my religion."

But once again Madonna has rekindled her friendship with Spears.

"Madonna is determined she can get Spears back into kabbalah. She has offered her a suite of rooms at her apartment in New York and has told her that she is her surrogate mother. Spears used to wear the red kabbalah bracelet and read the books Madonna gave her and she is thinking about giving it another chance."

However, Spears' spokesman neither confirmed or denied the news.

"Spears wouldn't really comment on that, it's just a case of wait and see what happens," said the spokesperson.

Madonna also apparently plans to take her new friend, baseball star Alex Rodriguez, and Spears to Malawi next year in the hope they will make donations to the kabbalah centre she has set up there.

Britney's Circus Is A Ring Masterpiece

The following italicized article is from www.dailystar.co.uk:

PLAYLIST has had a world exclusive listen to Britney Spears’ new album Circus.

I am the first journalist to hear the record, out on December 1, in full and I am thrilled to report the pop princess is on startling good form.

The 26-year-old explained the title, saying: “It’s me as an entertainer, and what I do, and what I bring to a show is basically like a circus.

“I bring costumes and fun theatrical things that make people just look in awe and everything tells a story on stage and makes people want to watch it more.”

Here is my track-by-track rundown. Watch out for Brit’s performance on The X Factor on November 29.

WOMANIZER VERDICT: 9/10

Ace synth-tastic slice of electro-pop. The lead single follows on nicely from Britney’s Blackout album.

CIRCUS VERDICT: 9/10

Britney’s next single observes that: “There are two types of people in this world, those that entertain and those that observe.” With a wall-of-sound chorus being as glam as a Kylie corset it’s easy to see which box she ticks. A true funfair.

OUT FROM UNDER VERDICT: 7/10

The more up-tempo of two ballads, but still stock-pile the tissues as its Brit’s answer to Daniel Bedingfield’s If You’re Not The One. A pain-driven ditty about an unsalvageable relationship.

KILL THE LIGHTS VERDICT: 10/10

An introduction announces Britters as the “Queen Of Pop”. This is a follow-on from previous single Piece Of Me, where she gets revenge on paps. Brit teases: “Make sure you catch me on my good side – pick one.” This attitude-infused floor-twirler has serious single potential.

SHATTERED GLASS VERDICT: 8/10

Another cheating fella, another track that sees more questions being asked than Mastermind. Brit does her best bunny-boiler impressions declaring: “My face is going to haunt you all the time.” Featuring an *NSYNC Pop undercurrent, the vocals break up towards the end thanks to a knob-twiddling wizard.

IF YOU SEEK AMY VERDICT: 10/10

This is a Brit naughty. Prepare for a cold shower as this is her raunchiest tune yet. Featuring big “la la” hooks as an intro, it’s reminiscent of Pink’s So What. A carnival-esque chorus features cheeky giggles and naughty wordplay.

UNUSUAL YOU VERDICT: 6/10

A mid-tempo disco track about angels.

BLUR VERDICT: 7/10

A saucy tale of trying to remember a night of passion.

MMM PAPI VERDICT: 10/10

A retro feel and Gwen Stefani-like rap segments equals yet another killer tune. Brit squeals her love for a sugar daddy while slowing the rhythm down to bizarrely declare: “I’m mammi/And that makes you Papi/And that makes us luvvi.”

MANNEQUIN VERDICT 7/10

Every male fantasy is fulfiled when Britney transforms into a real-life Barbie to demand you wash and dress her. Drops down to an instrumental section midway.

LACE AND LEATHER VERDICT: 8/10

This is vintage Madonna and name-checking red lips and cotton candy kisses ensures it’s hotter than Brit’s Oops I Did It Again catsuit.

MY BABY VERDICT 8/10

The ode to sons Jayden and Sean is an eye-watering morsel. Sweet vocals trill over ivory-tinkling and acoustic guitar as Britney sings about: “Precious love”. Sob.

RADAR VERDICT 9/10

Electro number featured on Blackout and, like chocolate pud, is a delicious second helping.

Britney Set For 10 Gigs In The UK

The following italicized article is from www.people.co.uk:

Britney Spears is to make her UK comeback next summer with a spectacular tour.

She will unveil her concert plans just before performing her new single Womanizer on next Saturday's X Factor.

The song - already a chart-topper in the US - is set to storm our charts when it is released tomorrow.

And her new album Circus comes out a week later - the day before her 27th birthday.

Cry A source said: "She is so excited about performing on X Factor because it will prove she's back on form.

"It makes perfect sense to reveal her tour plans at the same time."

The UK leg on her multimillion-pound world tour includes TEN dates at the 02 Arena in London as well as concerts in Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow. Brit - who won two MTV Europe music awards earlier this month - will also play Dublin and a string of major cities on the Continent.

It's all a far cry from 18 months ago when Brit ran amok after losing custody of her sons Sean, three, and Jayden, two, to ex-hubby KEVIN FEDERLINE, 30.

The singer shaved off her blonde hair, was hospitalised twice and made headlines round the world by attacking a photographer's car with an umbrella.

But now she's set to reclaim her "princess of pop" crown.

Our source said: "There is no doubt about it - Britney is back.

"And she is hoping the new tour will erase the bad memories of her last one when she lip-synched the whole thing."
