Britney Spears Brings Her Mama To The Recording Studio

Britney Spears is still hard at work on her planned upcoming album (which, thus far, has no release date scheduled … tho, my guess is that it will be released this Fall) as she was spotted making her way out of a recording studio here in SoCal yesterday afternoon. Britney’s mother, Lynne Spears, accompanied Brit Brit to the studio and was spotted in her company yesterday as well … behold:
Firstly, it’s nice to see Mama Lynne is back in town … I’m certain both Britney and her young sons are happy to have Lynne in town. Secondly, I am THRILLED to know that Britney is still working feverishly on her new album. I’ve been hearing many rumors about the upcoming disc concerning which producers she’s working with, what the sound of the album may be … it’s all very exciting. Thirdly, I just gotta love a woman who shares my love for McDonald’s. All in all … I’m lovin’ these pics!!

Britney Goes for a Ride

The following italicized article is from www.fadedyouthblog.com:

Britney Spears looked a bit pouty and bored as she took a ride with her bodyguard through Los Angeles today (May 19).

Meanwhile, Glee creator Ryan Murphy confirms that a sequel to the Madonna episode is being planned and will “probably” be part of the next season.

He tells USA Today that he is in talks to make a Britney-themed episode.

“We love Britney,” he says. “We’re talking to Britney. I think you have to be careful on the show not to do too many tribute episodes. But she certainly has a huge body of work to pull from and the kids grew up with her so that is a consideration. They love her.”

Britney Spears Hits Hollywood (Sans Boyfriend)

The following italicized article is from www.eonline.com:

Britney Spears made a rare social appearance Saturday night at Phil Maloof's birthday party at Drai's Hollywood.

Britney arrived around 9 p.m. with a handsome, dark-haired guy who was NOT her on-again-off-again boyfriend and former agent Jason Trawick. She spent most of the time on a couch chatting with Maloof, a longtime friend and part owner of Palms Casino in Vegas.

The identity of the gentleman who was with her is unknown but he may have been a bodyguard.

"She stayed for about an hour and had fun," says a party source, who didn't witness anything romantic between Britney and her mystery male. "She didn't mention Jason."

Also at the party (but arriving separately): her father, Jamie.

The VIP bash, held in Victor Drai's private lounge on the first floor, was sponsored by Maloof's new Black Star Beer, but our sources say Britney didn't have any.

"She was mellow but in a good mood," says a source. "She never would drink in front of her dad."

Stay Away! Britney Spears Wins Again

The following italicized article is from www.nbclosangeles.com:

Britney Spears' ex-manager dropped his appeal of a judge's ruling that he must stay away from the singer until 2012, according to his appellate court attorney.

Osama "Sam" Lutfi instead will concentrate on his civil suit against the pop star and her parents, which is currently under a separate appeal, said attorney Joseph D. Schleimer.

In April 2009, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Aviva K. Bobb directed Lutfi and attorney Jon Eardley to stay at least 100 yards from the pop star, her two young sons and her homes.

Bobb's ruling extended until April 28, 2012, a temporary order she issued against both men in January 2009. Bobb has since retired from the bench.

Lawyers for Lutfi filed papers shortly thereafter with the 2nd District Court of Appeal. They maintained during the hearings before Bobb that the three-year stay-away order was too harsh a measure and there was no evidence Lutfi had caused the pop star substantial emotional distress as alleged by lawyers for her father, Jamie Spears.

Jamie Spears and attorney Andrew Wallet share co-conservatorship powers over the 28-year-old singer's estate.

Spears' father maintained Lutfi and Eardley have tried to undermine the conservatorship established by Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz in early 2008 after the singer exhibited behavior that resulted in her hospitalization at UCLA Medical Center.

Lutfi sued Spears and her parents in February 2008, alleging he was defamed in passages of a book written by the singer's mother, Lynne Spears.

Lynne Spears is appealing a judge's ruling last August which denied her motion to have the case against her dismissed on grounds it infringed on her right to free speech.

In the appeal, Lynne Spears' lawyers maintain Lutfi is "libel-proof" because his reputation allegedly was already so low before her book was published that the contents could not have damaged his image further.

Is Ashton Kutcher's Reign as Twitter King Ending?

The following italicized article is from www.people.com:

There's twouble in the Twitterverse!

After famously beating CNN to 1 million followers last April, Ashton Kutcher has been the undisputed king of Twitter, gaining more followers than anyone else on the micro-blogging site. But are his days as Twitter's most popular user numbered?

Britney Spears is slowly closing in on Kutcher – and the gap between their number of followers gets smaller every day. (At the time of this posting, Kutcher had 4,890,797 followers; Spears had 4,878,516). While Kutcher is the only person who Tweets on his account (several times each day), Spears only sporadically posts on her Twitter account, along with her manager Adam Leber.

Now, the big question remains: If Spears does beat Kutcher, will she ding-dong ditch his doorstep the way Kutcher promised to do to CNN honcho Ted Turner?

Britney Spears Going alternative on New Album?

The following italicized article is from www.theprophetblog.net:

To add yet another genre into the already overcrowded mix for the new Britney Spears album, it looks like the Queen B could be playing around with some alternative sounds after the music publisher of Estonian pop singer Kerli let the news slip during a live chat on Kyte TV yesterday.

When asked about the direction of Kerli’s upcoming sophomore album, the music publisher said that Britney is making a dance record and that she’s actually heard several of the tracks that are being considered for Britney to record. She then described them as being “very electronic” and “kind of alternative”, adding that they’re “very different” from anything Britney has done before.

Fitting in with the alternative theme is news that Britney is working with producer Rusko, who is responsible for the new M.I.A. single “XXXO”.

Earlier last week Britney’s management released a statement regarding her relationship with her agent/boyfriend Jason Trawick, mentioning that the singer has been “busy in the studio working on her next album”.

Very exciting stuff. Perhaps we can get another “And Then We Kiss”, a song that is one of the most underrated and brilliant of Spears career. Thanks to Ethan for this news.

'Glee': Matthew Morrison Says He Isn't Anti-Britney Spears

Matthew Morrison insists, "I never said I didn't want a Britney episode" of "Glee."

Despite bountiful reports that the actor known as glee-club adviser Will "Mr. Schue" Schuester is against FOX's hit Tuesday series doing for the Britney Spears catalog what a high-rated episode recently did for Madonna's music, he maintains that isn't the case.

"They kind of took two answers and made them into one to sound really bad," Morrison tells Zap2it. "It's interesting. The show has struck a chord. You look at the iTunes [best-seller] list every week, and we're in the Top 10. A lot of kids had never even heard a Madonna song, and it's the same for the older generation that has never been exposed to rap songs."

Britney Spears Lookin’ Fab On The Set Of Her New Candie’s Commercial

Earlier today we saw a photo of Britney Spears with her manager Larry Rudolph on the SoCal set of the new commercial she is working on for Candie’s. Here are a few more photos of Britney lookin’ totally faboo yesterday afternoon on that Candie’s commercial set:
That’s my girl, she always cleans up nicely. I’m not certain but I believe this shoot was for a video commercial but I wouldn’t be surprised if we also got to see promo photos as well. Candie’s chose well when they decided to hire Britney Spears to promote their clothing and accessories for two years in a row. I can’t wait to see what they come up with together for this new phase of the campaign.

The singer and Trawick began dating last summer and have dodged engagement rumors for months. "They are very happy," a source said of the couple. "Things are really good with them."

Claim: Britney Spears shared “intimate” day with bodyguard

The following italicized article is from www.gossipcop.com:

X17Online breathlessly reported Britney Spears had “an intimate lunch with her bodyguard” Ryan at The Abbey in West Hollywood.

The site claimed, “Britney requested to be seated at a private cabana at the back of the bar with her hot bodyguard Ryan… surrounded by curtains perhaps in an attempt to keep their relationship a secret from boyfriend Jason Trawick.”

“Their secret relationship”?

Uh, huh…

And, according to an X17 photographer, “Britney was really happy with this guy; she seems in a better mood with him than when she’s with Jason. And Ryan [the bodyguard] is really cute so the attraction is obvious.”

The only thing that’s “obvious” is that X17Online, which previously gave us such doozies as Britney Wants to Marry Adnan Ghalib and Britney Punched Jason Trawick in the Face, is wrong again.

It wasn’t a date, says a source close to the singer, adding that Ryan is just her bodyguard – that’s all.

Oops, X17 did it again.

Britney Spears' Conservatorship Goes Back To Court

The battle over Britney Spears' conservatorship continues on Monday when her legal team goes back into court to give a status report on how the pop star is progressing.

A separate hearing will have to take place with Judge Reva Goetz to see if she can finally put an end to the conservatorship.

So far, there's no confirmation on whether or not Brit-Brit will appear in front of the judge.

Hang in there, Brit!

Britney Phone Home: Why Spears' "Telephone" Beats Lady Gaga's By a Robo-Mile

The following italicized article is from www.rollingstone.com:

Ever since Britney Spears' demo version of Lady Gaga's "Telephone" leaked this week, fans have been buzzing. Producer Rodney Jerkins quickly confirmed that it really was Britney singing, but any seasoned Britneyologist could already identify it by ear within a couple of bars — nobody else pronounces the consonant "r" or the long vowel "e" like our girl. It has all the distinctive vocal tics of Britney, or at least the laptop that does her singing. At this point, I've come to love Britney's demo even more than Gaga's already-brilliant hit version. Even though it's a more bare-bones production, it amps up all the seething rage in the song, stripping it down to the killer combo of a plucked harp and a jaded party girl strung out on Auto-Tune and paranoia.

"Telephone" actually sounds a lot like Britney's 2007 hit "Piece of Me," proving yet again how much impact Britney has had on the sonics of current pop. People love to make fun of Britney, and why not, but if "Telephone" proves anything, it's that Blackout may be the most influential pop album of the past five years. The demo is lighter than Gaga's production, cutting out all the rock bombast, but that just makes the song more linear and urgent. It reduces "Telephone" to a drum machine, that harp, a magic box of vocal effects, and the concept that a girl's soul and a magic box of vocal effects can sometimes be the exact same thing.

Britney uses Auto-Tune the way Bob Dylan used his harmonica — for punctuation, for atmosphere, for an alienatingly weird sound effect. It's a blast of vocal distortion, harsh on the surface, but expressive, capable of sounding wildly funny or abrasively pissed-off or seductive. In "Telephone," as in "Piece of Me," the Auto-Tune does for her voice what the harmonica does for Dylan's in "It Ain't Me, Babe" — a way of telling the world to keep its hands off you. Britney is talking to her phone, talking to the boy who keeps calling, talking herself out of compulsively checking her phone. The way her voice fades in and out of Auto-Tune — mostly in — is totally brilliant. Like Bob Dylan (and I swear this is the last time I'll mention his name right now, despite the millions of things he and Brit have in common) Britney loves to cross-fade between a human voice (hey world, take a look at me, I'm a star, I'm somebody, pay attention) and a machine voice (hey world, fuck off, you can't reach me, I don't believe you, you're a liar).

The point isn't whether Britney is punching the buttons herself. (When is that ever the point with a pop star?) It's the romance going on between the voice and the machine. Part of what makes Britney the perfectest of perfect pop stars is the way she expresses her personality most passionately when she's turning herself into a machine — surrendering to the beat, disappearing into the thrill of the pop moment, singing like a robot. That's what makes her sound so human after all. In "Telephone," she doesn't want to think any more, talk any more, feel any more — she just wants to hit the floor and dance to the rhythm machines until she turns into a machine herself.

Nothing could express the Britney cosmology like a phone song, since phone songs are usually a place where singers distort their vocals to sound like they're on the line — my favorite might be ELO's "Telephone Line," Kraftwerk's "The Telephone Call," or maybe Missy Elliott, Timbaland and Nicole Wray's "Make It Hot." But it's ideal for Britney — especially when the phone song doubles as an "I'm out on the club jumping on strange boys" anthem. She's kind of biz-zaaay. She's kind of biz-zaaay. You can't hurt her, can't even touch her, because she's kind of biz-zaaay. Call all you want but she's not at home, and you're not gonna reach her telephone.

I'm definitely not disparaging Gaga's version — I couldn't live without it, especially not her Beyoncé video epic. But "Telephone" has so much Britney in it, it's no big surprise to learn that Gaga may have written the song for her. Since Britney is the perfect pop star, and songs about telephones are always excellent, it's a just plain mathematical fact that Britney's "Telephone" is a perfect pop song, and the world is an infinitely better place because it exists.

Bizarro note: despite all the advances in phone technology over the past 25 years, both versions of "Telephone" end with the same recorded message from the Replacements' 1984 punk rock classic "Answering Machine." That Britney — she is so punk.

Glee's Matthew Morrison Bashes Britney?

The following italicized article is from www.usmagazine.com:

Asked about the possibility on the red carpet at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner in Washington, D.C., on May 1, Matthew Morrison, 31, told Us Weekly, "That's a rumor her manager started. I hope our show doesn't go along that route."

Britney Spears Does Not Have ‘Wish List’ of Men to Date

The following italicized article is from www.gossipcop.com:

“Britney’s shopping for a new man,” reads a headline in the current issue of In Touch.

The mag claims, “Britney Spears‘ romance with her agent, Jason Trawick, seems to be nearing the end — so she’s asking her father, Jamie [Spears], to help her find a new guy!”

Huh?

In Touch explains, “Since Jamie is Britney’s legal conservator, he keeps a watchful eye” on everyone with whom she’s involved, so the singer has now “given him a ‘wish list’ of famous men she’d be interested in dating.”

Who, claims the mag, is on dating deck?

According to an In Touch source, Spears is interested in Ryan Phillippe, Paris Hilton’s ex Doug Reinhardt, Avatar star Sam Worthington and yes, “The Situation.”

Show of hands: Who believes this story?

(Thought so.)

A source close to Spears assures Gossip Cop the story is “not true,” and that “no one is approving who she wants to see.”

We’re sure “The Situation” is much relieved not to have to pass the Jamie test.

Darkchild On Working with Britney

The following italicized article is from www.theprophetblog.net:

After the Britney Spears demo of the Lady GaGa hit “Telephone” leaked online yesterday it caused an online frenzy which made news headlines around the world (literally), so the producer of the song Darkchild was forced to do a live broadcast on Ustream today to clear up the controversy surrounding the track.

The hitmaker said that the leaked version was the first demo they did for the song and was completely unmixed and unmastered, and then went on to insist that he wasn’t behind the leak and wouldn’t be leaking the final version.

Now moving on from that old Circus B-side and onto the good stuff, Darkchild also spoke about Britney’s upcoming seventh studio album spilling some exciting details about the secretive project.

“[Britney's manager] Larry Rudolph came to my house and we had an incredible conversation about Britney’s new album. We talked about the direction of her album, he gave me some insight into the direction and he wants me to work on stuff… So with that said, “Telephone” did what it had to do and we’re very pleased with the results, but now I’m about to put 200% of my focus into writing a new smash for Britney’s new album… An international smash…

“I think the fans deserve it, I think Britney deserves it and I can’t wait to get back into the studio with Britney. I’m about to go crazy on making something that’s so crazy. Since the conversation with Larry Rudolph I’ve studied some stuff from her last album and the Blackout album, and that was great stuff but I’m gonna bring something a little bit greater. I’m gonna give it my all to deliver something that’s crazy, crazy amazing for Britney.

“The conversation with Larry went great, I know exactly what the direction is and I’m gonna kill it! I’m gonna create the most incredible, unbelievable track that you could ever think of to hit the planet earth, the galaxy, around the world, all of that [laughs], for Britney Spears!”

I’m not a fan of either version of “Telephone”, but it was obviously left off Circus for a reason so anything that makes the final cut for the next album will have to be really good, just like all her albums.

Britney's Camp for Kids -- Desperate Times

The following italicized article is from www.tmz.com:

The summer camp that Britney Spears created for under-privileged kids back in 1999 is in serious danger of going under -- unless they find some serious dough ASAP.

The camp -- a ten-day summer program for 250 "economically disadvantaged students" -- was originally named the "Britney Spears Camp for the Performing Arts" until Brit bowed out in 2004. After that, the camp was renamed Summer Stars Camp and received generous donations from sponsors like 50 Cent and the Jonas Brothers.

But now, the camp's executive director tells TMZ they've run out of money and can't seem to find any more celebrity sponsors this year -- the first time they've had money issues since the place was founded.

The director also claims that the camp is so desperate for the $250,000 it needs to stay afloat, they've entered a contest run by Pepsi in a last ditch effort to score a grant.

Attempts to reach Britney for comment were unsuccessful.
