Britney Spears is firing back at the perfume company that is suing her -- in the form of her very own lawsuit against the company.
Britney has filed a cross-complaint, claiming Brand Sense was all about radio silence when it came to accounting for how much money she was supposed to get for the sale of a perfume -- Radiance -- she was hocking. And there was a lot of money on the line, Brit claims -- millions of bucks worth of the fragrance were sold.
Brit says Brand Sense withheld Britney's share of the proceeds for months, failing to pay her interest on the delayed payments.

Britney Spears' lawyers are trying to block her deposition in a perfume lawsuit, because they say she's not legally competent to give sworn testimony.
Brand Sense Partners is suing Brit for $10 million, claiming she had a deal with the company but pulled a double-cross by trying to cut them out of a lucrative project with Elizabeth Arden.
Brand Sense wants to take Britney's deposition, but Brit's lawyers have so far refused, on grounds Brit is under a conservatorship and can't be forced to testify without the approval of the conservatorship's attorneys.
No word on whether the attorneys for the conservatorship will sign off on the depo, but Brand is tired of waiting and is now asking the judge in the perfume case to order Britney to sit for the deposition.Source: TMZ
Britney Spears allegedly defrauded a company that hooked her up with Elizabeth Arden in a deal that made Britney a fortune ... this according to a $10 million lawsuit obtained by TMZ. Brand Sense Partners, LLC claims it had a deal with Brit in which the company would get 35% of Britney's profits in return for securing a perfume contract with Elizabeth Arden. According to the suit obtained by TMZ, Britney and her dad defrauded Brand Sense by entering into a secret deal with Elizabeth Arden, allegedly robbing Brand Sense of millions in the marketing of her perfume, Radiance. The suit claims Brand Sense caught Jamie "red-handed" in circumventing their deal. The lawsuit seeks more than $10 million in damages. No response yet from Britney's camp. Source: TMZ

If you're already of fan of the Pop Princess and love her scents, you'll be very happy to know her newest fragrance, Radiance is slated to hit stores in late September! I know it's a log way off for the blogosphere but I wanted to be the first to share the news with all you Britney fans.
If not for anything else, I'd buy this fragrance just to keep this rhinestone-adorned bottle on my dresser. It's so over-the-top but I love it. The top notes of the new scent are wild berries and soft, dewy petals. Very feminine! The fragrance is also bursting with tuberose, jasmine, orange flower and iris. The delicate aromas come together to form an unforgettable and utterly irresistible scent.
Perfume junkies may be happy to know this fragrance has a light musk scent to it as well, which really makes it oh-so-covetable. I'm generally not big on celebrity fragrances but Britney has offered up some pleasantly surprising ones in the past. I think you'll be just as pleased with this one, if not more.
Keep an eye out for this gorgeous and sensual fragrance around the end of September 2010 (believe it or not, it's quickly approaching!) at The Bay, Sears and Pharmaprix/Shopper's Drug Mart ($63 for 50 mL; $78 for 100 mL).Source: Beauty Booty 411

The following italicized article is from www.nydailynews.com:Celebrity names can sell loads of stuff, but these days, they’re stinking up the perfume business.
Indeed, sales of celebrity-branded fragrances are going out of favor faster than the last Britney Spears single, according to TheStreet.com. Some of the decline, experts suggest, is because consumers may be embarrassed to use a celebrity fragrance.“On blind scent tests many of these fragrances test extremely well; they're designed to be the least offensive and offer the broadest appeal,” Karen Grant of the market research firm NPD Group told TheStreet.com. “But when a celebrity is associated with it, you see a different reaction.”Fragrance peddler Parlux France relies heavily on its celebrity branded scents and has taken a hit for it. The company produces Queen Latifah’s Queen, Jessica Simpson’s Fancy and Fancy Love, Andy Roddick's Andy Roddick and all of Paris Hilton's many fragrances (Paris Hilton, Paris Hilton for Men, Heir, Heiress, Just Me, Can Can, Fairy Dust and Siren). The company lost $4.3 million last year and $2.5 in the second quarter of this year alone.
While the prestige fragrance market as a whole is down 10% from last year, Britney Spears is one celeb who appears to be bucking the odds.Sales of her fragrances - Fantasy Britney Spears, Britney Spears Believe, Curious Britney Spears and Curious in Control Britney Spears - rose 13% in the June quarter. Elizabeth Arden, the company behind the ageing pop tart's perfumes, just brought out Circus Fantasy, named after her latest tour and album. Then again, she’s global.“More than half of the sales of Britney brands were sold of outside of North America,” said an Arden company spokesman.Source: NY Daily News

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:Britney Spears already has a popular perfume line, but sales might skyrocket if her newest scent makes it into stores: a fragrance called 'Mo that carries the tantalizing tagline "One spray and the gays will run your way!" Too bad 'Mo — and the video promoting it — is a spoof, part of the viral-marketing campaign for the Logo network's NewNowNext awards show. MTV News called up the brains behind the clip to get the inside scoop about how the project came together and why Brit decided to take part. "She's having fun with her gay audience, because she's an official gay icon at such a young and tender age," said Christopher Willey, a Logo executive producer. (Logo and MTV are both owned by Viacom.) Willey explained that the tone of the awards show is "very playful, irreverent, doesn't take it too seriously." When they decided to give their Always Next, Forever Now award to Spears, Willey approached the singer's label and management with the idea for the faux perfume ad. "We [wanted] something that would be fun and playful that we can celebrate/mock, and we thought, 'It's her perfume career,' " Willey said. "Because everyone knows every holiday season they bring out those commercials of her running through a forest or a hotel." Spears' people loved the idea, although Willey did have to explain the meaning of 'Mo, which is a term of endearment within the gay community. "Britney herself wanted to make sure that the punch line — which is the word 'Mo — wasn't offensive in any way," Willey said. A spokesperson for Spears told MTV News the singer was not available for comment on the spoof. Logo shot Britney's "One spray and the gays will run your way!" line on the Los Angeles set of her video for "If U Seek Amy" and filled in the rest with footage from music videos and a documentary. The package will open the NewNowNext show as an imaginary message from the program's sponsor. The second annual awards show airs June 13 at 9 p.m. ET and will feature appearances by Lady Gaga, Vanessa Williams, castmembers from "The Real Housewives of New York City" and a musical performance by Eve. And, of course, Spears will be on hand to accept her award. "She has this natural rapport with the gay community," Willey said. "I think she just really likes her gay fans and she sees this as a way to talk directly to them, which she hasn't really done before."

The following italicized article is from www.lvrj.com:Britney Spears has had a rough road in Vegas, but there are still reasons to love her Like Pabst and quiche, vomit and velour, Britney Spears and Las Vegas haven't always mixed so well.To say that Britney has traveled a bumpy road in Sin City is to ignore potholes big enough for wild game to bathe in.She's passed out in nightclubs, gotten universally skewered for a roly-poly performance at the MTV Video Music Awards at the Palms, seen her posse tussle with the paparazzi and yawned her way through a House of Blues concert where she pretty much used her fans' ticket stubs as toilet paper. But you know what, Las Vegas?Britney Spears is still good for you.And in honor of her stop at the MGM Grand this weekend, we're going to prove it.Read on, as we count the ways that Britney is continuing to make the world a better place. She's no Beyonce, but...What other females on the pop charts have Britney beat? Certainly not the horribly overwrought Christina Aguilera, who has a better voice to be sure, but not a clue how to use it, and so she over-sings everything, shrieking through her tunes like a cat being fed through a paper shredder, until you're digging at your cochleas with a melon baller.Kelly Clarkson? She's so boring, we nearly fell asleep simply typing her name. Kelli Pickler? We won't poke fun of her for the same reason we stopped shoving old people down flights of stairs recently: Sure it's a blast, but way too easy. Lily Allen? Apples and oranges. You don't judge "Dumb and Dumber" by how it compares to "Crash," even though the former is more successful at being a lowbrow comedy than the latter is at being a serious drama.Besides, when it comes to Britney, she's been on a roll for years now. Her breathless, beat-heavy "Blackout" was the best mainstream pop record of 2007, her current disc "Circus" is still more dance floor cotton-candy and even her stab at aping "Ray of Light"-era Madonna, 2003's "In The Zone," reaped its share of killer singles. It's not high art, nor is meant to be: Spears catalog is directed at the pelvis, not the cerebellum. She makes you feel better About yourselfBritney's foibles get so much run for the same reason that reality TV is big: People love watching others makes asses of themselves in a public forum because it makes them feel slightly less guilty for being such losers themselves. So, Britney gets photographed without her panties on, and you, in turn, don't feel quite as bad for being a career Denny's waitress who sweats nicotine and sadness and whose best friend is a sock puppet. Good for you. Now where are those cheese fries, already? She's a role model for THE YOUNG PEOPLESo, she drank and smoked while pregnant, drives around with her kid in her lap like it was a Slurpee with hair and has been known to betroth single-celled organisms upon occasion. Big deal. Does this mean she can't be a surrogate parent to your children, a guiding light in hot pants? Answer: no. To wit, for her first movie appearance in coming-of-age classic "Crossroads" -- think "The Graduate," but with plastic boobs -- Spears refused to utter a particular line of dialogue because it had a swear word in it, and she didn't want to set a bad example for the youths of today. How's that for attempting to better one's fellow man? Scoreboard: Britney 1, Gandi 0.She's given us her soul! You are a nothing, a nobody, an empty sack of flesh and castrated dreams, until, of course, you get your own fragrance. Then you enter the realm of people who matter, such as Debbie Gibson, David Hasselhoff and Dora the Explorer. Britney first joined such hallowed company when she blessed us with her "Believe" perfume. The fragrance was pitched as a "confident expression of optimism and individuality" and as a "reflection of her soul." So what if it bore the delicate aroma of a yeti on fire, trapped in an Ozzfest port-a-john? What does your soul smell like, my man? Gym socks and air bagels? Relax, buddy, it was a trick question. If you're not down with Brit-Brit, you don't have a soul to being with. She makes fun of herself better than anyone else doesEver caught Britney Spears on "Saturday Night Live"? It's like finding a Heineken buried in a bucket of dead puppies. For about a decade now, that show has been a safe haven for anyone allergic to funny, but Spears has been among the rare highlights in recent years, at her best when lampooning her fake breasts, her penchant for lip syncing in concert and everything else people goof on her for.Basically, Spears has earned the last laugh.Even if it is on us.Source: Las Vegas Review Journal

The sexy clip features Britney in a chopped black wig and office wear in a high-energy dance sequence. In other scenes, she puts on a long red wig and fake tattoos to play a waitress, and then goes back to blonde to play a seductive driver. “Boy don’t try to front, I know just what you are,” she sings in the chorus as she pushes away the “womanizer” of the title, who doesn’t get so lucky with Brit.“Circus” is due on Britney’s birthday, Dec. 2, but if that’s not enough, her latest perfume will follow in January.
