Britney Spears Can Still Dance

Britney Spears' camp very, very quietly - considering who we're talking about here - posted an edited video of her latest single, "Till the World Ends," which shows Ms. Spears actually dancing. For more than 2 seconds at a time.

Sure, Britney isn't as agile as she was in her teens, but she remains a better dancer than most of the ladies out there grabbing covers of music and fashion magazines. (If you've seen her live during her recent tours, you know that this is true and not just editing magic.) So, it's a wonder why the people directing and editing her music videos these days tend to cut out all the parts where she's dancing and leave in the parts where she's standing like an awkward maypole, waving her arms in the air while other people prance and writhe around her. Either she doesn't have confidence in herself or they don't have confidence in her anymore. Whatever the case, it's dumb. Say what you will about the girl's singing, her strength has always been her ability to bust a move.

''Hold It Against Me'' Continues to Break Records

The following italicized article is from www.nypost.com:

In less than 24-hours, Britney Spears has officially won the entire pop music lovin’ world back — need proof? Let's go to the numbers!

Not only did Britney’s new single “Hold It Against Me” rocket to the number one spot on iTunes' singles chart, but it got there in less than eight hours. The only other artist to claim the spot faster was Taylor Swift, with her song “Mine,” which got there in a little under six hours last August.

But Brit's appeal spans the globe as well, with the song claiming number one spots in 14 other countries. A figure that keeps rising with every additional hour the song is available for download.

In the world of radio, the track hit a record breaking 705 spins its first day, decimating Mariah Carey’s “Touch My Body," which held the throne with 498 spins back in 2009.

Overall it is Britney’s most played, best selling debut to date. And the hits will keep on coming as the singer also announced that her still untitled album will drop on March 15th -- a disc that will include at least one more Max Martin produced single, titled “I I I Wanna Go."

After only being able to hold onto the iTunes top spot for a sprinkle of a moment with his song “Grenade,” we wonder how Bruno Mars feels about Brit blowing up his spot. Well, if it makes him feel any better, Megan Tonjes (our favorite acapella YouTube sensation) has put together a “Hold It Against Me/Grenade” mashup, which is officially on office repeat.

Britney Spears Fights Beau

The following italicized article is from www.nypost.com:

Britney Spears had a huge public fight the other night with her boyfriend, Jason Trawick, at the Mondrian hotel in Los Angeles. The singer stormed out after she and Trawick -- who recently quit being the pop tart's manager in order to concentrate on being her boyfriend -- started arguing over dinner on Thursday. A spy told Page Six, "Britney was rude to the waitress and then started arguing with Jason, saying she'd had enough. He was trying to calm her down, but she wasn't in the mood. They had been sit ting down for dinner, but just over 30 minutes into the meal, Britney de cided she wanted to leave. She headed out of a back door of the hotel, with Jason following, still trying to calm her down. She looked furious. It's clear there is trouble in paradise" Spears' rep declined to comment.

We'll see. And even if it's true, every couple fights.

Britney Causes A 'Circus' Circus

It was a surprisingly sunny 6 p.m. I finished up work yesterday with plans to attend a movie screening only two blocks away. I popped in my earbuds, clicked over to the new Green Day album and began walking from my office to the screening room. But as soon as I turned onto 48th Street, I noticed a huge crowd blocking off most of Seventh Avenue.

"Oooh, car accident," I thought, because that's where my morbid mind immediately moseys to. But there was nary a busted taillight in sight. What I could see were hundreds, nay thousands, or screaming fans foisting cameras above their heads in hopes of taking a picture of someone ... somewhere.

britney-spears-nyc-msg.jpg
Then I saw it. Or more accurately, her. Yes, Britney Spears was perched across the block from me, separated by but rows and rows of people, atop a blue bus. Then I remembered that she was holding a "If You Seek" Britney Twitter contest yesterday, leaving clues as to her location all over NYC. If you found her, you got front row tickets to her show last night.

Great idea ... in theory. As the cops held people behind barriers and yelled at pedestrians to "keep it moving" traffic came to a standstill during the busiest time of day -- in the heart of Manhattan.

But no one seemed to care -- especially the "Oops...I Did It Again" t-shirt clad tweenybopper who punched me in the gut as she made her way toward the front of the mob. "Watch it," she shouted at me, continuing my fascination with people who run into stationary objects, chastising him/her/it for being in the way.

Such is the power of Britney!

Britney Shoots Elle Magazine Cover

The following italicized article is from www.nypost.com:

BRITNEY Spears has cleaned up her act -- but she's still kind of a mess. The pop tart took time off from her "Circus" tour to do an Elle magazine shoot, our spy says, and it was a disaster. "They dressed her in all these beautiful couture clothes -- and, well, let's just say she forgot what time of the month it was. It wasn't pretty." A rep for Spears didn't return e-mails.

Britney Chubby? You're Barking Up the Wrong Tree

Britney Spears is reportedly not too happy about people calling her "Bulky Spears" and "Jelly Belly" during her new Circus tour, according to Heat.

Wait a minute, who's saying that about my B Spears!? It's one thing to go around and say that Jessica Simpson looked big in those mom jeans, but Britney has worked her weave off at getting back to "Toxic" status and I will not have anyone saying she is a Jelly Belly! Mmmm, jelly beans.

The source told Heat that "she's put a heck of a lot of effort into the tour. It's devastating for her to hear the criticisms. We just hope she doesn't take it too much to heart."

Um, she is a female of the human race, so of course she is going to get angry when people call her fat. Heat also reports that Spears has allegedly started drinking shakes that include the African tree bark hoodia, thought to help weight loss.

Great, as if deforestation wasn't already a big enough problem someone had to go and tell Hollywood that tree bark will help them lose weight. Next thing you know -- poof! -- no more trees!

The only reason I'm posting this is because I like how it's written lol.

Cheers From Britney Spears' Kin

The following italicized article is from www.nydailynews.com:

Britney Spears can finally breathe easy: Her shows rocks. At least, her friends and family think so.

A nervous Spears, whose “Circus” tour kicks off Tuesday night at the New Orleans Arena, performed 20 tracks for some 30 loved ones Saturday night in NOLA.

“Britney was really tense up until the show,” an insider tells us, “but she got such positive feedback that she’s a lot more confident about her performance.”

On hand to offer their support was the whole Spears clan, including Brit’s divorced parents, Lynn and Jamie, sis Jamie-Lynn, who toted her baby girl Maddie, and Brit’s own children, Sean Preston and Jayden James. “Jamie and Lynn don’t get along at all, but they behaved,” says our insider. “They’re really rooting for Britney and wanted to make the evening all about her.”

All the encouragement is apparently helping: Brit appears to be back in fighting form for her first tour since 2004’s “Onyx Hotel,” “totally killing it” as she sang and danced to hits like “Womanizer,” “Circus,” “I’m a Slave 4 U” and “Toxic.”

According to tour insiders, Britney may be getting even more support — and this time it’ll be onstage. “The rumor going around is that Madonna is going to join Brit onstage for at least two tour dates,” says our source. “And that would be totally fierce.”

Madge may not have been on hand for Saturday’s trial performance, but that didn’t stop Brit and her posse from enjoying an after-show dinner at pal Rodney Morrison’s estate, where Southern comfort foods like steak, baked fish, corn on the cob and rice were served. During the feast, Britney regaled guests with tales of her sons’ affection for the film “Space Chimps,” as well as discussing her hard-core exercise routine and pride in her newly toned tummy.

Although he wasn’t on hand to join in that evening’s festivities, Kevin Federline made an unexpected arrival in New Orleans over the weekend. Britney’s baby daddy will take care of his boys while his ex finally gets her groove back.

Big Comeback In Big Easy

The following italicized article is from www.nydailynews.com:

It's show time, y'all!

Britney's back and the whole world is watching.

Still on daddy's tight leash, and after months of hard work getting her voice and bangin' body back, everyone's favorite popwreck hits the stage in New Orleans Tuesday night for the opening of her 44-concert make-or-break tour.

There's a lot at stake for the singer after her years in the wilderness of the bizarre.

"From the moment tickets went on sale, buzz was strong this wasn't going to be a tour that failed," said Gary Bongiovanni, editor in chief of concert tracker Pollstar. "A lot of shows are sold out or close to it."

He, like others in the music industry, call the pop star's recovery "remarkable."

Spears, 27, is riding a wave of goodwill. Her latest single "Circus" hit No. 1 on the Top 40 radio charts last Friday, according to research firm Radio & Records.

That comes after her now-platinum album "Circus" debuted at No. 1, making Spears the first female ever to have five No. 1 album debuts.

"She's been able to slowly put her personal life back together," said Sharon Dastur, program director at Z-100 in New York.

"I think we saw that with the pictures of her with her kids at Christmas. She's back to normal, has a successful album out and people want to be part of the ride," she said.

"The anticipation for this show is more than we've seen in a really long time," Dastur added.

Just ask mega-fan Doug Rodick, who paid $150 for his ticket and will pile into rented limo busses Tuesday night with 20 pals, including the entire staff of the Headset salon where he works as a hairdresser in New Orleans.

"I got a text message from a friend at 6:30 this morning announcing she (Britney) made it into town. We're hearing she has a fleet of circus animals on tour with her," said a breathless Rodick, 30. "I just hope she doesn't crack up and miss the show."

Rodick was crushed when Spears cancelled her 2004 concert at the New Orleans Arena, where her "Circus" starts.

"She said she had a knee injury, but we all knew it was Kevin Federline," he said, dismissing Spears' ex-husband as a distraction. "She's a great entertainer. I don't expect her to be musically that great, but I expect a great show. She'll dance and sing and shake her ass off."

Brit's recent success is a far cry from her public meltdown in 2007, when she shaved her head in public, attacked a paparazzo's car with an umbrella and checked in and out of rehab. She hit rock bottom a year later when she was twice hauled off for involuntary psychiatric evaluation.

The mother of two has been improving ever since dad Jamie Spears took control of her affairs in a strict, court-ordered conservatorship last year.

Spears is scheduled to play the Nassau Coliseum March 11 and 23 and the Prudential Center in Newark on March 13 and 14.

Britney's Tour Described As 'Amazing'

Now what does this have to do with Ms. Spears? Well, she is putting the finishing touches on her "Circus" tour, which starts March 3. My pal in Los Angeles saw a sneak peek of Brit's show last night and her words were simply "just saw the first half of Britney Spears' 'Circus' tour! Amazing!!! She looks fierce!!!!!" So, it looks like we will have to wait and see who's gonna run this big top.

Missing Britney

The following italicized article is from www.nypost.com:

Britney Spears just swept through town with a familiar face missing from her side. Spears' cousin and former assistant, Alli Sims, told Page Six she's still not allowed to be in contact with the pop tart. "I have no idea when I'll see her again. I miss her every day," Sims said. Spears has been in the city at meetings for her fragrance line and plugging her new single, "Womanizer." Although she looks cleaned up, the rules imposed by her father, Jamie Spears, still stand. "When [Britney's] dad gained control, he put some rules down . . . it's just best for her to not communicate with a lot of people. My main concern is her being OK," said Sims, who's in Nashville writing and recording music.

Overdue Duet

The following italicized article is from www.nypost.com:

THE long-awaited duet between Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake may finally be recorded. Spies said Spears will team up with her ex-love for a song on her next album due at the end of the year. The two were supposed to team up for her last album, but Spears - under the influence of friends including Osama Lutfi and Adnan Ghalib - missed her recording session with Timbaland at the legendary producer's Virginia Beach studio last August. "She just didn't show up," our spies said at the time.

GET TO WORK!

The following italicized article is from www.nypost.com:

JIVE executives are working overtime to get Britney Spears to record her new album. Earlier this week, they released pictures of Spears and manager Larry Rudolph leaving a music studio, and said in a statement that she's "spending her summer in the recording studio, working on a brand-new album." But one music industry heavyweight said, "Britney wants to focus on her TV and movie career right now. Jive and Larry are having trouble getting her to record, so they forced her hand with the statement and photo releases."

Yeah, they're so right. I mean: Britney's only been in the studio 40+ times since March this year.

Britney Plans Her Next Step

Our dear Britney Spears met up for dinner with her, apparent, manager (once again) Larry Rudolph in Beverly Hills, CA last night where the pair prolly talked about things like ... the weather (it's been absolutely gorge here in SoCal lately), politics (isn't it great that the Democrats have finally united behind Barack Obama as their presidential candidate?) and pop culture (can you believe that Paris Hilton has seemingly cleaned up her act?) ... but they prolly mostly talked about Britney's upcoming trip to London, England for the filming of her new music video for her song Radar (which Larry confirmed to the New York Post as the plan for her next video).

Britney Spears' former manager Larry Rudolph has confirmed the star will be hitting the streets of London to shoot the promo for her upcoming single Radar. The Toxic star is set to film the video in the capital next week, and is determined to get her career back on track by taking a director's role on-set. Rudolph tells the New York Post , "The theme is her and her girlfriends are going to be looking all around London trying to find a boy who she met in a club. Every time they think they have him, it's someone else. "She will be behind the camera as much as possible; she wants to make sure it's exactly right." In April Rudolph, who was reportedly dismissed by the singer after he joined her parents in forcing Spears into rehab last year, told reporters how the star is gearing up to make a triumphant return to the charts, saying, "She's in an amazing position for a comeback right now. She could end up being the biggest comeback in history."

Britney and Larry make an amazing team. He absolutely knows what it takes to make her a star (after all, he's already done that very thing at the start of her career) so I have total trust in his plans for Britney. Brit's last album, Blackout, was such an amazing album ... especially when you consider that she made the whole thing while she was, well, crazy. I can't even imagine how good her next album will turn out now that she's uncrazy AND working with Larry on her side again. The future looks very bright for our dear Britney ... I can't wait to see her climb back to the top of the heap again to show all the wannabe beyotches who have tried to take her place how it's done

GOING GLOBAL?

The following italicized article is taken from www.nypost.com:

IT looks like Britney Spears family will do anything to get her away from her "friends" Sam Lutfi and Adnan Ghalib - including putting the pill-popping poptard on tour. The buzz at the Grammys was that Spears' newfound focus on her dancing is preparation for a world tour. Britney "will be leaving the country in the next few weeks," a source confided to Page Six. "She'll train in privacy for a month, then go on a global tour."
