New Life & Style Issue

Check out Britney in the latest issue of Life & Style Weekly. The story discusses Britney's upcoming documentary, and explains the motives behind the 90 minute MTV exclusive. "She knows that to make it back to where she was," says an insider, "she really needs to connect with fans. She's trying to get it right this time."

"This would be edited to show Britney in the best possible light - to show how healthy and supposedly normal she is these days. Britney's father, Jamie, and Brit's team would have control over every single piece of footage that made it on the air."

Lucky for us, Britney reportedly does have a say in what will appear in the documentary, as well as the "making of the album" DVD launching with the album in December. "She is totally on top of what's happening now," says the insider. "Nobody's forcing her to do anything she doesn't want to do. She's approving what she wants and turning down what she doesn't." (Here comes the but.)

But they're not giving her too much power. "By controlling what footage gets out there on her," says another insider, "her team is avoiding her greatest fear right now: Britney alone with an interviewer. If she were to burst into tears or say the wrong thing, they'd be back to square one."

Brit & K-Fed's Late-Night Sex Texts

The following italicized article is from www.newsoftheworld.co.uk:

POP diva BRITNEY SPEARS has been making raunchy late-night calls to her ex-hubby KEVIN FEDERLINE.

I can reveal the star and K-Fed have had marathon phone sex sessions and traded steamy texts.

K-Fed has told pals: “The calls got very steamy pretty quickly. It was like having a new girlfriend.”

But the pair have been trying to keep their new-found friendship under wraps, because it would cause a massive scandal after their bitter divorce last year.

A pal revealed: “It’s early days, but there is certainly still something between them.” Brit, 26, renewed her friendship with K-Fed, who has custody of their sons SEAN PRESTON, three, and two-year-old JAYDEN JAMES, after getting in touch with him to talk about the boys.

The pal went on: “It’s obviously rekindled that old desire between them.

“They’ve been talking dirty over the phone and about how much they’d loved each other and how it all went wrong. They now speak at least every other day and Brit makes excuses to call Kevin, saying it’s about the boys.

“He thinks she is getting back to her old self.

“But they’re worried what it must look like after their break- up descended into such a bitter divorce. They want to keep it to themselves to see how well they’re getting on before making any grand annoucements.”

Britney and K-Fed’s split started a disastrous year for Baby One More Time star Britney, who ended up on a psychiatric ward.

But Brit looks back to her sexy best in the video for new single Womanizer, with album Circus due out in the new year.

Britney Spears Premieres ‘Womanizer’ Video, Readies New Perfume

The following italicized article is from www.accesshollywood.com:

Britney Spears has always been one to switch her style up, but in her new video, fans can see a few brand-new Britneys.

The video for “Womanizer” debuted on “20/20” on Friday and is now available on BritneySpears.com as the song — the first single from her upcoming album, “Circus,” continues to heat up the charts.

The sexy clip features Britney in a chopped black wig and office wear in a high-energy dance sequence. In other scenes, she puts on a long red wig and fake tattoos to play a waitress, and then goes back to blonde to play a seductive driver.

“Boy don’t try to front, I know just what you are,” she sings in the chorus as she pushes away the “womanizer” of the title, who doesn’t get so lucky with Brit.

“Circus” is due on Britney’s birthday, Dec. 2, but if that’s not enough, her latest perfume will follow in January. HIDDEN Fantasy, the pop princess’ latest scent, follows in the flowery footsteps of Curious, Fantasy, In Control, Midnight Fantasy, Believe and Curious Heart.

“What do you have to hide?” asks the tagline of her first ad for the scent, which pictures a serene-looking Britney in a forest of magenta flowers.

Britney Will Be Back in Court on License Case

The following italicized article is from www.abcnews.com:

With a comeback album in the works, her custody case resolved and her personal life no longer making headlines, Britney Spears appears to be finally leaving her troubled past behind.

The most googled person of 2008, Britney Spears is making her comeback.
Only one remnant remains -– a troubled past without a valid California license. Rather than accept a plea deal that her lawyer says was too harsh, Britney Spears will go to trial.

The singer will most likely not appear in court when the jury trial is scheduled to start Wednesday. Because it's a misdemeanor charge, she is not required to. That the case has gone this far, however, demonstrates that Spears is being unfairly targeted because of her celebrity, her attorney, J. Michael Flanagan, said.

"It's absolutely extraordinary," Flanagan told ABCNews.com.

Flanagan said cases like these are usually reduced to an infraction after the person charged produces a valid license and pays a $10 fee. From the beginning, Flanagan said, the judge and Los Angeles City Attorney's Office were unwilling to do that.

Instead, Flanagan said, the city prosecutor offered a plea deal that would have required Spears to plead guilty to a misdemeanor and accept a year's probation and $150 fine.

Flanagan said he rejected the offer because Spears does not deserve a criminal conviction on her record. "The easiest thing would have been to take the plea," he said. "But it doesn't seem right to me."

Frank Mateljan, spokesman for the city attorney's office, denied that Spears had been singled out. "We've consistently dealt with this case the way we do any other," Mateljan said. "She's decided to continue this process to this point."

The case stems from an August 2007 incident in which Spears hit a parked car in a shopping center and left without notifying the owner. She was originally charged with a misdemeanor hit-and-run. That charge was dismissed in November through a civil compromise, in which Spears agreed to cover the damages and the car's owner agreed to not pursue the case further.

Britney Driving Without Valid License

On Sept 26, 2007, however, the city attorney filed an additional misdemeanor charge. "During a subsequent investigation, we found that she was driving without a valid California license," Mateljan said. "You can't un-ring that bell. We filed that charge along with the original hit-and-run."

Spears, who is originally from Kentwood, La., had a valid Louisiana license. But prosecutors say she violated California Code 12500, which requires drivers to get a California license within 10 days of establishing residency.

Flanagan said the city attorney is using her 2007 divorce papers as evidence. Under oath, she told the court she had been a resident of California for six months.

After being charged with a violation, Spears got her California license on Oct. 2, 2007. Showing the new license is typically enough to reduce the charges, said Flanagan, who has handled mostly driving offenses in his 38 years of practicing law.

"The judge will line up eight or nine at a time and say, 'Do you have a license? OK, see the clerk and pay a $10 fee,'" he said. "Most are not even represented by counsel."

Flanagan estimates that 95 percent of these cases are adjudicated that way.

City attorney spokesman Mateljan said, "I don't know what the exact statistics are. But this incident didn't take place in vacuum. There are other underlying circumstances.

"Typically, these types of cases do settle well before they get to trial," he added. "We feel we've been fair with the offer we put forward. They seem bent on proceeding."

Flanagan has also questioned why the case has been "specially assigned" to Deputy City Attorney Michael Amerian, who, he has pointed out, is running for the position of city attorney.

"This is driving without a valid license, about the least of any matter that could be prosecuted and he's specially assigned to it," Flanagan said. "Why do you think that? They specially assign murder cases. Very seldom do you even see a drunk-driving case specially assigned."

Mateljan denied that Amerian had been "specially assigned" to the case. "We've given this case no special consideration," he said. "It's been assigned as any other case would be assigned. Mr. Amerian is handling this like any other case."

Flanagan has also accused the judge assigned to the case, James A. Steele, of treating the pop star more harshly after he rejected Flanagan's motion to reduce or dismiss the charge.

Britney Spears Does Mommy Duty

Britney Spears was on hand this afternoon to pick up her children, Sean Preston and Jayden James, from their Encino, CA preschool. Presumably, Britney will be spending some time with the boys this weekend and was anxious to get the jump on her quality time with them.

It’s a pretty important weekend for our dear Britney. Not only is her new official website BritneySpears.com launching later on today (at the time of this posting, it goes live in 3 hours — 6PM PT, 9PM ET) but her new music video for Womanizer is also world premiering on ABC’s 20/20 tonight (10PM PT/ET). While the world waits with baited breath for both of these occurrences, I sincerely doubt Brit and the boys will be doing anything other than spending quality time with her children … as it should be. Woot!

No, no... This doesn't mean I'm posting the video NOW. But before you call me a dirty trickster, listen up. For starters, the world premiere of "Womanizer" actually won't be until 20/20 is OVER. So that's more like around 11pm ET. (Though I bet y'all will be glued to the TV around 9:30pm, won'tcha? I know my Britney fans. ) But the second and perhaps more exciting piece of news I have is this: The DIRECTOR'S CUT of the "Womanizer" vid will be up and ready watch on Britney.com after it airs on ABC. WTF does that mean? I'll tell you. It means this version will be more, longer, sexier. We can never have enough Britney! I sure as hell can't... xx♥

Britney Answers the Question We All Wanted to Ask

The following italicized article is from www.eonline.com:

Britney Spears is reminiscing about what life was like at the crossroads.

"I'm a smart person, what the hell was I thinking?" the comebacking pop star asks herself, probably rhetorically, in an upcoming MTV documentary addressing where she went wrong—and how she's getting herself back in the zone after coming thisclose to becoming a total lost cause.

Or worse, yesterday's news.

The appropriately, albeit tentatively, titled For the Record is slated to premiere Nov. 30 on MTV, two days before she turns 27 and releases her sixth studio album, Circus.

"So much has gone on over the last couple of years and there's a lot that people don't know about me that I want them to know," Spears said in a statement about the 90-minute special, which will feature the divorced mother of two answering what we'd like to believe will be tough questions about her recent past, as well as behind-the-scenes footage of her latest adventures recording, shooting her "Womanizer" video and making personal appearances.

"I wanted to make this film because I started to feel like I wasn't being seen in the light that I wanted to be seen in," she added. "This is an opportunity to set the record straight and talk about what I've been through and where I'm headed."

Britney Sets The 'Record' Straight On MTV

The following italicized article is from www.billboard.com:

Want to know what was going through Britney Spears' head during her darkest days? Tune in to MTV's 90-minute exclusive documentary "Britney: For the Record" to find out.

Airing Nov. 30, "For the Record" documents a three-month period of Spears' life earlier this year, including sessions for her upcoming Jive album, "Circus," and preparations for her appearance on MTV's Video Music Awards.

An MTV spokesperson says "no topic was off limits" during the interviews.

"I sit there and I look back and I'm like, 'I'm a smart person. What the hell was I thinking?,'" Spears says at one point. "I've been through a lot in the past two or three years and there's a lot that people don't know."
"Circus" is due Dec. 2 via Jive. First single "Womanizer" debuted this week at No. 26 on the Mainstream Top 40 chart, No. 96 on the Billboard Hot 100 and moved 44-32 on the Pop 100 in its second week on the chart. It should rise substantially on the Hot 100 next week, after its first round of digital sales are factored in.

The "Womanizer" video premieres tomorrow (Oct. 10) on ABC's "20/20."
