Brit Keeps It Glam On Night Off

The following italicized article is from www.thesun.co.uk:

WE’RE used to seeing BRITNEY SPEARS dressing down when she’s off duty.

So it comes as a tasty surprise to see the comeback babe looking every bit as glam as she does on stage in the lounge of a plush hotel in Beverly Hills.

No doubt the presence of mum LYNNE helps to ensure her daughter’s standards don’t slip when she’s not working.

Either that or Britney’s penchant for spending her downtime in a tracksuit is a thing of the past.

Book Deal Unlikely To Happen

The following italicized article is from www.ok-magazine.com:

As always with stories Britney Spears, it's difficult to tell truth from fiction, which make new reports out of the UK about the pop superstar signing a $14 million deal for her autobiography that much harder to figure out if they're true or not.

According to The Mirror, Brit-Brit has inked the mammoth deal to tell all about her rollercoaster life and career.

However, one U.S. publishing insider tells OK!, it's unlikely that the pop princess would get anything near the amount being reported.

"That seems ridiculously high for a book deal," the source tells OK!. "Even though she's a huge star, that doesn't mean anyone wants to read an autobiography by her. To make back that much of an advance, the publisher would have to sell Harry Potter-size numbers."

So while we would love to see Britney finally tell her complete side of the story — from Mickey Mouse Club to divorced mother of two — we're not holding our breath.

Spears 'Signs £10m Autobiography Deal'

The following italicized article is from www.digitalspy.co.uk:

Britney Spears is reportedly close to signing a deal worth £10 million to pen an official autobiography.

According to The Mirror, the 'Circus' singer has already teamed up with a literary agent and is expected to begin writing the book following her world tour.

"There have been numerous unofficial biographies printed about Britney, but she's never agreed to pen her own tome - until now," said an insider.

"And some of the stories she's got are absolute dynamite. She's kept diaries so there's nothing she'll leave out unless she wants to."

The source added that Spears could eventually write "between three and five books throughout the next decade", adding that it was "one of the most lucrative deals in showbiz history".

The 27-year-old's mother Lynne released her own autobiography last month, entitled Through The Storm: A Real Story Of Fame And Family In A Tabloid World.

Rumor: If You Seek Amy Concept and Director

A gum-flapper inside Brintey’s camp has leaked details about Brit’s new video:

“A concept is set and ready to go. Earlier this week a poster confirmed the director.

I will say this about the concept - it is brilliant. Very original and thoughtful. Should be a beautiful video while still being semi-taboo. Should also create some controversy (especially among fans). There will be the Jordans’ of the world who digest and analyze it a certain way and everyone else will view it another. That being said - Britney thought of this idea. Her management and label signed off of the treatment. Just keep that in mind in mid-March when you get to watch this gem.

Video shoot is scheduled for first week of February. Single released in mid-March. IUSA was decided, literally, at the last minute. Let’s hope that UY is the fourth, and not OFU (well I personally hope, at least).”

Rumors persist that the director is Jake Nava, who has done dozens of “important” videos like “Crazy In Love” and “Milkshake.”

Britney Forced To Re-Record Song

The following italicized article is from www.contactmusic.com:

BRITNEY SPEARS has reportedly been forced to rerecord her upcoming single IF YOU SEEK AMY after radio stations across the U.S. threatened to ban the song due to its controversial lyrics.

The Toxic hitmaker's track features the chorus "All of the boys and all of the girls are beggin' to, if you seek Amy" - with the last four words sounding like "F**k me" when sung quickly.

Many DJs reportedly planned to ban the track deeming it too offensive to broadcast.

But Spears has now stepped back into the studio to rerecord the song, dropping the "k" from the end of "seek" and renaming the song "If You See Amy", reports U.K. newspaper The Sun.

Britney's Agenda For 2009 Includes Touring — And Some Controversy

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:

It's Pop Week here at MTV News, and that means we're catching up with and getting to know everyone who's going to make a splash in pop music and culture over the next 12 months. Whether they're just arriving on the scene or are already the name on everyone's lips, these are the artists we expect big things from in 2009.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the release of ... Baby One More Time, and to celebrate, Britney Spears is keeping busy in 2009. She's heading out on the road this spring and will soon release the third single from her successful comeback album Circus, "If U Seek Amy."

When Spears hits the road in March, she'll be bringing along the Pussycat Dolls, who recently revealed to MTV News that they are very excited by the chance to tour with the pop star.

"Get your tickets," Ashley Roberts told MTV News when we caught up with the Dolls on the set of their new video for "Bottle Pop." "We are actually going to be teaching the 'Bottle Pop' dance on tour, so check it out."

The girls, who will also be hitting the road with Lady Gaga this spring, admit that "this is a big touring year for us. In the States we are going to be with our girl Britney on tour," Nicole Scherzinger said. "We are going to be joining the circus, so come hop along with us — then after that we're just going to be taking over the world, Pussycat Dolls-style, so please come out and help us do that."

Perhaps they can learn a thing or two about taking over the world from Britney, who has some experience in that area.

The tour isn't the first collaboration between the PCD and Spears. "Britney actually wore one of our little lingerie pieces on her Circus album," Roberts said. Kimberly Wyatt added, "Britney wears it well, and it's always been fun to work with her. We've done a couple shows with her and she's always down to be a Pussycat Doll, and now we will be joining her on her tour."

Of course, it wouldn't be a new year for Spears if there wasn't some controversy behind the scenes. Spears is set to release "If U Seek Amy," and the song's chorus — if you say it fast enough — spells out a profanity. This may cause some issues when it comes to radio airplay. But Spears, who faced controversy when she released her first single, " ... Baby One More Time," a decade ago, isn't a stranger to this sort of thing.

"It's a potential issue for every station," KIIS-FM Los Angeles program director John Ivey told MTV News of the single. "I'm certain that I would run it by my legal department first. My first job is to protect [the station's] license. ... It's better to be safe than sorry."

Asked if he would edit the song, Ivey added he probably wouldn't because he felt the phrase was included in the song to provoke, so an alteration would change its intention. "[Spears' label Jive] might also be just floating it out there to see if they can stir things up a bit."

Stirring things up, even all these years later, is something Spears knows a thing or two about.

Britney Spears Shows Off Killer Abs in Tour Photo

The following italicized article is from www.usmagazine.com:

Britney's definitely got her body back.

Spears, 27, shows off killer abs in a new tour rehearsal photo posted on her Web site Friday. In other photos (taken Monday night), the singer (in Lisa Kline J'aime Drawsting Pants) works with contributing choreographers JaQuel Knight and Jose.

Spears has shed 20 pounds in recent months, whittling her waistline to its trimmest in years, thanks to two-hour cardio-and-strength-training workouts three times a week (on top of dance rehearsals), Us Weekly recently reported.

"It's a nonstop workout," Bally Total Fitness trainer Steven Boggs, who has worked with Spears, told Us of the routine, which includes moves like shoulder presses and jump squats.

She has also revamped her diet, opting for a 1,100- to 1,200-calorie-a-day meal-delivery plan from Sunfare consisting of three meals (breakfast burritos, barbeque chicken salad and turkey burgers) and two snacks (think cheese and nuts).

"I have had to work hard at getting [my body] back to where it used to be," she said in January's Glamour. "I used to be obsessed with working out ... But I can't get motivated right now because I'm so focused on my music."

She kicks off her world tour, The Circus Starring Britney Spears, March 3 in her home state of Louisiana.

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake Have Run-In at Restaurant

The following italicized article is from www.usmagazine.com:

Awkward alert!

Britney Spears ran into ex Justin Timberlake at Yatai Asian Tapas Bar in West Hollywood Monday night, an eyewitness reveals to Usmagazine.com.

Timberlake was in the middle of a late-night dinner with current girlfriend Jessica Biel when Spears walked through the door with her mom Lynne around 10 p.m.

The witness describes the restaurant as "so small...like the size of a living room," and the situation as "uncomfortable.

"Jessica and Justin looked to be slumping down in their seats to avoid [Spears]. She left 30 minutes later," another source tells Us. "Shortly afterward, Justin and Jessica got in their car and left."

Spears admitted she was "devastated" by her 2002 split from Timberlake in her MTV documentary.

"With Justin, he was part of the magnitude of what I had become," Spears said. "So when he was gone I was like, 'what am I supposed to do with myself?'"

Timberlake told Oprah Winfrey in 2007 that he had "nothing but love" for his ex, whom he met on the set of The New Mickey Mouse Club in the mid-'90s.

New Message Posted On BritneySpears.com:

"If You Seek Amy" Poses Censorship Problems For Radio

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:

Profanity in pop songs is old news. Hell, the chorus to Christina Aguilera's recent single, "Keeps Gettin' Better," kicks off with the phrase, "Some days I'm a super bi---." That one is easy enough for radio stations to edit out in order to avoid any fines from the FCC or threats to yank their licenses.

But what will they do with a new single from a major artist that doesn't actually contain a four-letter word, but rather spells it out in a not-so-subtle way? That dilemma is beginning to dawn on top-40 radio programmers across the country as the third single from album, "If U Seek Amy," starts to make its way to the airwaves.

The cheeky title (try saying it fast) joins the tradition of album titles like Van Halen's 1991 For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. The chorus doesn't even try to make grammatical sense of the phrase: "But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy."

The spelled-out profanity puts the song into a legal gray area for radio stations.

"It's OK to put in on an album, have fun with it, but we're publicly owned, you know?" said Patti Marshall, program director at Cincinnati's Q102, a pop station in a decidedly conservative Midwestern market. "We have a responsibility to the public ... you put this ... out and act like we're all fuddy-duddies, like we're trying to make moral judgments. It's not about us. It's about the mom in the minivan with her 8-year-old."

Like several programmers we talked to, Marshall said she had not yet been told that "Amy" was the next single from Circus. She's still busy playing the album's title track, which was recently released as the second single. Asked if she would play "Amy" if it came to her as a single, Marshall said likely wouldn't. She likened its chorus (which she has not heard) to "a little boy in sixth grade doing arm farts."

A spokesperson for the Federal Communications Commission did not return calls for comment, and Spears' label confirmed the choice of the single but would not comment on its content or any potential issues at radio.

Sharon Dastur, program director at Z100 in New York, also had not yet heard the song and said she's not sure what the station's plans are for it. She compared its possible problems to those faced by her station in 2005 upon the release of the Black Eyed Peas single "Don't Phunk With My Heart."

"Listeners thought it was the other word, and so we had to change it to 'mess,' " she said. That example was also the first that popped to mind for KIIS FM Los Angeles program director John Ivey, who said he knew he couldn't play the Peas' song as originally recorded but felt that censoring it would make it sound more nefarious, so he asked the group's label for a new version.

"It's a potential issue for every station," Ivey said of the Spears single. "I'm certain that I would run it by my legal department first. My first job is to protect [the station's] license. ... It's better to be safe than sorry."

Asked if he would recut the song to edit out the naughty bits, Ivey said he probably wouldn't because he felt the phrase was included in the song to provoke, so an alteration would change its intention. "[Spears' label, Jive,] might also be just floating it out there to see if they can stir things up a bit."

Britney Spears' Confidence Ring

Britney Spears is wearing a 'magic' ring to give her confidence.

The 'Womanizer' singer has been spotted wearing a tourmaline band, which claims to boost inner strength and provide a sense of stability.

The rock was given to her by the celebrity designer Dara Dubinet to help her get back on track following her public breakdown last January.

Dara told Life and Style Weekly magazine: 'I made the ring with Britney in mind. When something is made with good intention, it carries that positive energy to the person who ends up wearing it.'

Billboard 'Circus' Review

Call it a comeback. After a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 with "Circus" and the chart-topping peak of the first single, "Womanizer," the title track from Britney Spears' sixth album is her first top five start on the Billboard Hot 100. Besides the image overhaul with a return to the Spears of old, Brit has recorded her most mature, musical album to date, with hook-heavy tunes and, more important, fully engaged pop vocals with little vocoder assistance. "Circus" finds Spears in the more-than-capable hands of producer Dr. Luke (Pink, Katy Perry), who surrounds her with an electronic cyberpop landscape, while Spears spits out lines like, "There's only two types of guys out there/Ones that can hang with me and ones that are scared." Gotta love it. While her life has often resembled a circus -- to which the public has ringside access -- it appears Spears is now the ringleader instead of the main attraction.
