Britney, Justin, Lakers Sued

The following italicized article is from www.tmz.com:

Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and the L.A. Lakers have been sued by a company that says they all used knockoffs of their big screen in concert.

Large Audience Display Systems claims in a federal lawsuit in Texas, obtained by TMZ, the concerts in question included a large audience display screen that was identical to their patented, gigantic monitors.

Britney uses the screen on her "Circus" tour. Justin used the monitors on his "FutureSex/LoveShow" tour.

Also sued: The Pussycat Dolls for using the screens as well.

The company wants an injunction prohibiting the defendants from using knockoffs in the future, as well as unspecified damages.

Britney Plays Peacemaker

The following italicized article is from www.suntimes.com:

After a bit of a onstage dustup during the Pussycat Dolls' Friday night gig in Phoenix, no less than Britney Spears herself -- for whom the Dolls are opening on the current tour -- acted as a mediator.

''Remember, business comes first. ... You can hate each other off-stage, but make it work on stage,'' a very reliable Spears source quoted Britney as saying.

Things are increasingly tense between the Dolls. Lead singer Nicole Scherzinger has been looking like she's poised to go solo, and other members of the group are unhappy about recent singles released as ''The Pussycat Dolls featuring Nicole Scherzinger.''

''It's like a modern version of the old Diana Ross and the Supremes thing,'' said a music industry insider Sunday.

At Friday's concert, things got testy when the Dolls' Melody Thornton thanked the crowd in her Phoenix hometown for supporting her, ''even though I'm not featured!'' Spears thought that led to a ''downer effect'' on the rest of the Dolls set, and a negative lead-in to her own set, the Britney buddy said.

We'll get a chance on Tuesday to see this up close -- and whether Spears' lecture had any effect -- when the tour arrives for two gigs at the Allstate Arena.

Nicole Scherzinger Would Be 'Afraid' Of A Britney Spears Dance-Off

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:

Since March, the Pussycat Dolls have been busy supporting Britney Spears on her Circus tour. Before that, the Dolls had been traveling the world on their own tour, and the ladies wouldn't want it any other way.

"It's been nonstop," Nicole Scherzinger told MTV News. "We were on our Doll Domination Tour all throughout Europe, and now we're on Britney's tour, and after this, we're going to go back on our Doll Domination Tour."

So how do they handle the group's never-ending tour schedule? "It's the PCD gods and angels around us," Scherzinger said.

Nicole could only use one word to describe the hectic atmosphere of touring with someone like Britney: "It's really a circus. It's crazy. I think the tour's been really good for us doing what we do best: singing and dancing. A lot of people have told us the fans' ultimate wish is to have Britney Spears and PCD on tour."

The hectic schedule also means that the Dolls haven't been able to get any time to chill out with Britney. "This is her tour, and I'm sure she's busy, and I'm always doing press right before we get onstage," she said. "We haven't had too much interaction, but we're always planning stuff."

Perhaps the girls will all be able to meet up onstage at some point during the tour. "That would be super fun," she said. "We did that when we were [on tour] with Christina [Aguilera]."

Nicole also hopes that touring with a pop staple like Britney will attract a new fanbase to the Dolls. "Britney's been around so much longer and been around people who might not know us," she said.

For Brit's Circus, the girls decided to do a mini-version of their Doll Domination show. "We kept our same original look. We kept it PCD-style," she said. "We were on tour already, and we picked one outfit from the costume changes. We wanted it to be colorful and fun and sparkly and things that the kids could relate to."

If the ladies ever find time in their schedules, maybe they could squeeze in a Britney-vs.-Dolls dance-off. "I would be afraid. She can throw down. She's got some moves," Nicole said. "If we had a dance-off, maybe it would be more of a collaboration dance or maybe one of the other girls can do it; I'll just stand and watch. She's a great dancer and a great performer."

Britney's Back!

This is a bull-shit free review!

Britney Spears descended from the sky at the New Orleans Arena on Tuesday night to rightfully reclaim her role as the Princess of Pop. And Perez was lucky enough to be there!

One of the reasons we decided to come to New Orleans was because we weren't sure if she'd make it through to the middle of April, when her Circus tour is scheduled to hit Los Angeles. Heck, we weren't even sure she could pull off opening night.

And she did! Quite well. Much better than we had expected!

Here's how it all went down: The Pussycat Dolls went on at 8:00 P.M. sharp and put on an energetic 40-minute set of hits. Robin Antin, the group's founder, told us that they had just one day and only two hours on stage to reconfigure their arena show to be in-the-round, as is the case with Britney's 3-stage circus.

Backstage we ran into K-Fat and Spears' newly rehired assistant, Felicia Culotta. There was no sense of chaos or panic behind the scenes before Britney went on, which surprised us.

There was a pre-show of featuring clowns, martial arts and acrobatics, and Britney went on at approximately 9:20 P.M, playing for about an hour and a half.

A video featuring none other than yours truly, Perez, opened the show, and - we are pleased to say - it was very warmly received!

Spears descended from the roof on an apparatus and kicked things off with the appropriately-themed Circus.

Now, let's get our biggest gripe/problem with the show out of the way. Yes, she lipsynchs during the entire concert. There is no live singing. None!.

However, it's a Britney Spears show. You expect that!

Even though you expect it, though, it would be nice if at least a handful of the almost 20 song set were live. But, that's not gonna happen.

In exchange for the miming, you do get Spears doing what she does best, dancing. And she's got the moves again!

We were a bit underwhelmed by her live TV appearances performing Womanizer. She seemed drugged and lethargic. She'd walk around from point A to point B, just walking - without much if any confidence.

Well, we are pleased to say that Britney has her confidence back! And she seemed to be having a great time throughout the whole show. You could tell by the huge smile that appeared on her face throughout the evening.

She didn't say much. In fact, she didn't speak at all to the audience until after the very last song! We do wish she would have said something earlier, but she didn't have to. She spoke through her body and that infectious smile.

When you see Britney smile, you can't help but smile back!

Her only words the whole night were, "Thank you New Orleans, I love u guys. Did y'all have a good time? Thank you so much," said after the final encore, Womanizer.

The show is a non-stop assault on the eyes, a visual extravaganza. And there is a LOT that Britney does. To her credit, she pulled it off! She did it!

She danced like she hasn't dance in a very long time. And, one of the best parts of the evening is that Spears seemed to be clear-headed. She did not appear heavily-sedated or lethargic at all. She was on point!
It being the very first sho

w of the tour, you could tell she was wasn't 100% tight with the choreography yet, but she was more than just going through the motions. She was feeling it and into it!

We had never seen a show in-the-round before and it was a thrilling experience. There is no bad seat in the house! And director Jamie King did an exquisite job of filling the space and being inventive.

The show was fun and fresh and dazzling! There were definitely many move "moving pieces" than in Madonna's recent Sticky & Sweet tour, which King also directed.

There were a few missteps on the production, a misguided heavy metal segment and some empty space with two background vocalists that could be filled or tightened after Spears sings the ballad Everytime.

But, those moments were definitely very few and far between. If you are a Britney fan - or someone who appreciates a big spectacle - then you will love the show. King did an amazing job of giving the concert a true Circus-like feel, incorporating magic, aerialists, clowns and lots of razzle dazzle.

The most jaw-dropping moment of the show was when Spears performed Breath On Me accompanied by two aerialists, who turned their bodies into a bed and sent Britney flying into the sky with them! But, not just that, she totally was fearless in the air and did some amazing moves in the sky!

Other highlights included the super-playful If You Seek Amy - with boys and hammers - and an amped up version of …Baby One More Time.

From flying sets, smoke, wind, pyro, this concert has it all. But it's biggest asset is definitely Spears herself.

There is something amazing about Britney that people are always rooting for her. We genuinely want to see her succeed. We've seen her grow up in front of our eyes, and we love her - shortcomings and all. She may not be perfect, but she that's okay. She's our Britney.

And she's back, bitches!

We can't wait to see the show again in Atlanta and Miami and see it get better and better.

Perez, your faithful and honest critic, over and out!

PETA Flowers Brit With Praise

The following italicized article is from www.radaronline.com:

Say What? PETA reveals to RadarOnline.com that they will send a "Thank You" note and flowers to the ever-resurrecting princess of pop for choosing to lead an animal-less Circus Tour--The Pussycat Dolls excluded!

In November PETA sent the poptart a letter requesting she leave live animals out of all Circus Tour promotional plans.

PETA President Ingrid Newkirk just released this exclusive statement to RadarOnline.com:

"PETA praises Britney for embracing modern animal-free circuses like Cirque du Soleil which spotlight human creativity and talents instead of forcing chained and beaten exotic animals to perform confusing and uncomfortable tricks as they do in one of those outdated Ringling Bros. shows. Now Britney won't risk winding up in court on cruelty charges, while Ringling is in court this week over serious allegations of repeated mistreatment of elephants."

People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals is notorious for witty jibes at pelt donning celebs- like their anti-Olsen twins campaign, 'Trollsen Twins', and of course, protesting fur fiend J.Lo!

In November, a PETA activist threw a flour bomb in fur-clad Lindsay Lohan's face. Flowers sure beat flour any day of the week-- eh Brit?

Enjoy the bouquet!

Britney's Former Music Manager Johnny Wright Wishes Britney 'Nothing But The Best'

The following italicized article is from www.eonline.com:

The Circus Starring Britney Spears 2009 Tour, Spears' first arena tour in five years, kicks off March 3 in New Orleans. The Pussycat Dolls will also be along for the ride.

And since she'll be touring until June, it's lucky that she won't be needed in court until at least August.

That's when the singer may be called upon to give a deposition in her former manager's lawsuit against her over (what else?) money matters.

Clay Townsend, the attorney representing Florida-based manager Johnny Wright, told E! News following a closed hearing Monday that they are in no hurry to question Spears since their trial isn't on the docket until 2010.

"Johnny Wright still has a lot of affection for Britney," Townsend said. "He was around Britney for a long time, since the Mickey Mouse days and he just wishes the best for her."

Their financial issues were probably due to accounting errors, the lawyer added, and Wright is glad Spears is doing better and ready to head out on tour.

Wright's camp maintains that only Spears can answer certain questions pertaining to her specific aspects of her career and says the deposition can be given with a psychologist present, if the court deems it necessary.

Spears Does Research For London Gigs

The following italicized article is from www.showbizspy.com:

Britney Spears is doing her homework as she prepares for her series of gigs at London's O2 Arena - the singer is reportedly studying video footage of shows there.

The Toxic singer - who hasn't played live in the UK since her 2004 Onyx Hotel Tour - kicks off an eight-night residency at the London music venue on June 3.

And Spears is so determined to make the gigs memorable, she has been doing mountains of research - and will also be sending spies to report back on upcoming gigs by Girls Aloud and the Pussycat Dolls, according to British newspaper The Sun.

A source says, "Britney knows these shows are absolutely crucial.

"She hasn't played in the UK for five years so there is a lot riding on them."

Britney's Agenda For 2009 Includes Touring — And Some Controversy

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:

It's Pop Week here at MTV News, and that means we're catching up with and getting to know everyone who's going to make a splash in pop music and culture over the next 12 months. Whether they're just arriving on the scene or are already the name on everyone's lips, these are the artists we expect big things from in 2009.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the release of ... Baby One More Time, and to celebrate, Britney Spears is keeping busy in 2009. She's heading out on the road this spring and will soon release the third single from her successful comeback album Circus, "If U Seek Amy."

When Spears hits the road in March, she'll be bringing along the Pussycat Dolls, who recently revealed to MTV News that they are very excited by the chance to tour with the pop star.

"Get your tickets," Ashley Roberts told MTV News when we caught up with the Dolls on the set of their new video for "Bottle Pop." "We are actually going to be teaching the 'Bottle Pop' dance on tour, so check it out."

The girls, who will also be hitting the road with Lady Gaga this spring, admit that "this is a big touring year for us. In the States we are going to be with our girl Britney on tour," Nicole Scherzinger said. "We are going to be joining the circus, so come hop along with us — then after that we're just going to be taking over the world, Pussycat Dolls-style, so please come out and help us do that."

Perhaps they can learn a thing or two about taking over the world from Britney, who has some experience in that area.

The tour isn't the first collaboration between the PCD and Spears. "Britney actually wore one of our little lingerie pieces on her Circus album," Roberts said. Kimberly Wyatt added, "Britney wears it well, and it's always been fun to work with her. We've done a couple shows with her and she's always down to be a Pussycat Doll, and now we will be joining her on her tour."

Of course, it wouldn't be a new year for Spears if there wasn't some controversy behind the scenes. Spears is set to release "If U Seek Amy," and the song's chorus — if you say it fast enough — spells out a profanity. This may cause some issues when it comes to radio airplay. But Spears, who faced controversy when she released her first single, " ... Baby One More Time," a decade ago, isn't a stranger to this sort of thing.

"It's a potential issue for every station," KIIS-FM Los Angeles program director John Ivey told MTV News of the single. "I'm certain that I would run it by my legal department first. My first job is to protect [the station's] license. ... It's better to be safe than sorry."

Asked if he would edit the song, Ivey added he probably wouldn't because he felt the phrase was included in the song to provoke, so an alteration would change its intention. "[Spears' label Jive] might also be just floating it out there to see if they can stir things up a bit."

Stirring things up, even all these years later, is something Spears knows a thing or two about.

Pussycat Dolls 'Jumped' When They Found Out They're Touring With Britney Spears, Hope To Collaborate On Track

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:

When Britney Spears launches her Circus tour next March, in a move befitting her big-top-themed jaunt, she's bringing along some big cats: the Pussycat Dolls.

The pre-eminent burlesque dance troupe of the pop universe will open all U.S. dates on the Circus trek, which kicks off March 3 in New Orleans. And while most of us learned this just last week, the girls in PCD actually found out that they were hitting the road for Britney all the way back in October.

"Some of us heard on Halloween night," PCD's Ashley Roberts told MTV News at this weekend's KIIS-FM Jingle Ball in Los Angeles. "We were all in our costumes, and we're like, 'We're opening up for Britney Spears! That's so cool!' I think we all screamed and jumped a little bit."

And after they finished jumping, there was the small matter of keeping the gig a secret until Britney announced it on her Web site. Now it's full-speed ahead for the Dolls, who are looking forward to hitting the road with the woman they've dubbed the Queen of Pop.

"She's such a legend. ... She's making her way," fellow Doll Melody Thornton said. "And she's the Queen of Pop, along with Madonna, and we want to follow into those footsteps. So, we're excited."

And though not all the Dolls have actually met Spears, they're already planning on making up for lost time and working with the pop star on a track.

"Most definitely," Doll-in-Command Nicole Scherzinger said when asked if they'd be collaborating with Brit. "We love Britney. She's a friend of ours, and she's a really cool girl. She's down to earth, so we support her."

"I've never met her, and actually she made a cameo in our video, 'When I Grow Up,' but it [was cut], unfortunately," Doll Jessica Sutta added. "I can't wait to meet her!"

Pussycat Dolls to Britney Spears: We'll Babysit!

The following italicized article is from www.usmagazine.com:

Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger says she can't wait to tour with Britney Spears next year.

"We've just been working on it for a long time," she said Friday on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show. "It's going to be a huge tour -- we just had to get on it. We're so excited!"

She says the Dolls have been pals with Spears for some time; the singer even shot a cameo for their video "When I Grow Up" earlier this year. (Spears' cameo was edited out of the final cut.)

Scherzinger said she is also looking forward to seeing Spears' boys, Sean Preston and Jayden James, on tour.

"The Pussycat Dolls can babysit Britney Spears' kids!" she told Seacrest.

That's the influence her kids need right now, Seacrest joked.

"Ryan, I hear that sarcasm!" Scherzinger shot back.

Spears' world tour -- her first in five years -- includes 27 cities and kicks off in her home state of Louisiana on March 3.

The Pussycat Dolls On Britney’s Deleted Video Cameo: ‘We Love Her!’

The following italicized article is from www.accesshollywood.com:

Britney Spears’ reported cameo may not have made it into the Pussycat Dolls’ video for “When I Grow Up,” but in an exclusive interview with Access Hollywood, the Dolls say Brit wasn’t to blame.

“It’s not a secret,” the pop quintet’s Melody Thornton told Access. “There are a lot of things that you do that don’t necessarily make the video and that didn’t, for whatever reason.”

“She came out, she did a cameo,” added lead singer Nicole Scherzinger, though Melody noted that Britney didn’t work directly with the Pussycat Dolls. According to VH1, in Britney’s deleted scene, she drove a car, waved at the Dolls in traffic and looked “hot and blonde.”

There are definitely no hard feelings from the five Dolls, who hope to work with the singer again.

“We love her, we’re all huge fans of Britney, always have been,” Scherzinger said. “We totally support her. Not everything makes the final cut but we want to do something with her in the future.”

“I was personally bummed because I really like Britney,” added Jessica Sutta, before declaring, “So Britney, if you’re watching, we want you!”

Ne-Yo: I Snubbed Britney for Pussycat Doll!

The following italicized article is from www.ok-magazine.com:

Ne-Yo has revealed that he wrote a bunch of songs for Britney — but then decided he'd rather have a Pussycat Doll sing them instead!

The Closer star said that he was asked to pen a series of tracks for Spears's next album.

But when her career ground to a halt after her meltdown last year, he got so sick of waiting for her to get it together that he slipped them to Nicole from the red hot girl group.

And apparently that didn't go over too well with Brit!

"We set up multiple sessions where she was supposed to actually come in and give her input on the songs, but she never showed up," the singer told Britain's Guardian newspaper.

"This was before the whole shaving of the head thing, but after that happened, her people stopped returning phone calls."

In the meantime, the So Sick singer met Nicole Scherzinger who said she'd love the tracks for her solo project.

"And when news of that came out," says Ne-Yo, "then Britney's people call me! 'Hey! What's going on? Why're you giving away Britney's music?' I'm like, 'Wait! Until y'all cut me a cheque, I'm givin' away my music. It may've been written with Britney in mind, but it's not hers.'

"I heard that she was upset with me," he continues, "and, you know, I don't care."

Pussycat Dolls Talk About Britney's Cameo

Whatever...I still think they're dumb as hell for not using it!

Britney Left On The Cutting Room Floor

Last week there was a bit of hoopla over the report that Britney Spears filmed a cameo for the new Pussycat Dolls music video When I Grow Up … and now it turns out that it was much ado about nothing. We do know for sure that Britney did film scenes for the new PCD vid … in fact, Pink reader Laura’s peeps happened to be on the studio tour at Warner Bros. Studios on June 4th and caught part of the music video rehearsals:

[P]art of my family is out in LA doing the tourist thing. They went on the WB studio tour yesterday and saw Britney sitting outside a studio where she was working on a routine with the Pussy Cat Dolls.

But today, MTV News is reporting that the PCD video has been completed and Britney’s cameo was cut for the final version:

Britney Spears may have looked “hot and blond” in the cameo she filmed for the Pussycat Dolls’ new video, “When I Grow Up” — which will premiere on FNMTV Friday night — but we may never know just how hot and blond. Spears, who filmed a bit part in the video for the first single from the Dolls’ upcoming album last week in Los Angeles, was edited out of the final cut of the clip. A spokesperson for the Dolls could not be reached for comment on why Spears was not included in the video. The group’s members did not elaborate on the edit during the taping of “FNMTV” Thursday night in Los Angeles.

Extra TV has posted a short clip of the music vid HERE for viewing and also confirm that Britney didn’t make the final cut of the music video:

Reports claim that Britney Spears makes a cameo in the video, but “Extra” has seen the finished product — and we were unable to spot Ms. Brit!

Either PCD is dumb as hell for not using Brit’s cameo … OR they’re saving her for the remixed or alt. version of the vid. The song is growing on me like crazy (blame it on the “ha ha ha ha” part) and I was really looking forward to seeing Brit Brit in the vid. I hope we will get to see her cameo at some point.

Britney Spears Cameo Axed From Pussycat Dolls Video

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:

Britney Spears may have looked "hot and blond" in the cameo she filmed for the Pussycat Dolls' new video, "When I Grow Up" — which will premiere on FNMTV Wednesday night — but we may never know just how hot and blond. Spears, who filmed a bit part in the video for the first single from the Dolls' upcoming album last week in Los Angeles, was edited out of the final cut of the clip.

A spokesperson for the Dolls could not be reached for comment on why Spears was not included in the video. The group's members did not elaborate on the edit during the taping of "FNMTV" Thursday night in Los Angeles.

Spears was filmed last week driving in a car for her cameo, though an unnamed set source told US Magazine she did not interact with the group or dance while on set. "They all wave at each other as they are passing in traffic — that is it. Of course, Britney looks hot and blond. It is a very short sequence, but [Britney] had a lot of fun with it. Britney really likes the Dolls' music and when she saw them on the MTV [Movie Awards], she was totally down to do the video," the source told the magazine.

Neither Spears' nor the Dolls' spokespeople would comment on the shoot at the time and attempts to reach Spears' representatives on Thursday (June 12) about the now-shelved cameo were unsuccessful. The video was filmed just a few days after the Dolls performed the song in public for the first time at the MTV Movie Awards.

The hook-up with the Dolls was part of what has been a measured return to the spotlight for Spears after more than a year of personal and professional missteps and drama. It came on the heels of a two-episode arc on "How I Met Your Mother" that has sparked talk this week of a possible Emmy nomination.
