Britney's Legal Team Fans Out

But the wheels of justice move slowly and the pop princess has other things to concern her.

While Spears plots her latest comeback—her new album Circus is coming to town Dec. 2, her 22nd birthday—her army of lawyers deployed to various courthouses in Southern California today to attempt to tidy up her docket.

First up, attorneys representing Spears and her temporary conservatorship overseen in part by father Jamie turned up in downtown Los Angeles to meet behind closed doors to haggle over legal bills stemming from the case.

"Lawyers for [Britney] were in chambers for about an hour and a half. Two items were filed but sealed," a court clerk tells E! News.

No word on exactly what financial matters were being debated. The bills have piled up in recent months, however, with her lawyer, Laura Wasser, alone seeking as much as $100,000 for representing Spears during the last three months ($33, 037.19 for June and July and $60,075 for work performed in August).

Spears did not attend the session. The next court date in the matter is set for Sept. 25.

Nearly 20 miles away in Van Nuys, meanwhile, a pretrial hearing was scheduled with regard to her misdemeanor charge of driving with an invalid license.

Earlier this month, Superior Court Judge James A. Steele refused Spears' petition to dismiss the year-old charge, leaving the door open to a trial which could start as early as October.

The song starts off like “Hot as Ice” from Britney’s latest album, Blackout. “Candy From Strangers” reportedly features Laze & Royal. Brit or not, the song sure is super catchy!

Britney Spears Heads Off to the Dance Studio

Lawyer For Britney Spears To File Petition In Misdemeanor Driver’s License Case

A lawyer for Britney Spears is hoping to get the pop singer out of a trial for a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Spears’ lawyer in the case, Michael Flanagan, told Access Hollywood he will file a petition on Thursday to ask the Superior Court of Los Angeles to accept their proof the star has a valid license. He wants the case dismissed and for Britney to be able to pay a $10 fee.

The case stems from an August 2007 incident in which Spears was videotaped as she bumped another vehicle while parking her Mercedes-Benz. She left — without leaving a note — after looking over the damage to just her car from the fender-bender.

The owner of the other vehicle later filed a police report and Spears was charged a month later with misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving without a valid license. The hit-and-run charges were dismissed in October 2007 after Spears paid an undisclosed sum to the owner.

Flanagan has said that Spears was driving with a Louisiana license that was valid because she owns homes in that state.

The next hearing on the matter will occur this Thursday, September 18.

The Toxic singer’s eldest boy SEAN PRESTON turned three on Sunday, while JAYDEN JAMES celebrated his second birthday two days earlier. Britney, mum LYNNE, dad JAMIE, sister JAMIE LYNN and the teen’s newborn daughter MADDIE watched Sean and his brother driving their presents of electric cars at the star’s Los Angeles home … After reclaiming her gorgeous figure in the gym, she’s now gearing up to release her comeback album Circus in December. The collection, which is issued on her 27th birthday, features songs penned by some of the planet’s mightiest hit-makers. DR. LUKE, DANJA, MAX MARTIN, BLOODSHY & AVANT and GUY SIGSWORTH, who between them have composed chart-toppers for the likes of KATY PERRY, PINK, KYLIE MINOGUE and MADONNA, have all contributed tracks … Looks like it could be a very merry Christmas in the Spears household this year.

The sites offer fans to pre-order the new DVD, titled "Unbreakable," currently priced at 8.24 euro and set to be released October 27, 2008.

Nova Sales & Distribtutions, the company dispersing the DVD, is described as "highly successful" and is now one of the leading Independent Music Distributors in the UK and Ireland. Britney's Back In Court Tomorrow!

Additionally, there will be a preliminary hearing tomorrow morning for Spears' driving without a license case. Two weeks ago, Spears' attorney Michael Flanagan requested that the case be dismissed, but Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James A. Steele delayed a decision on whether or not Spears would stand trial.

The Spears Family Reunited At Last After Years Of Very Public Feuding

Then in January, in an image that shocked her fans, she was pictured sobbing uncontrollably on a kerb at the side of the road with only her puppy for comfort.

Britney then suffered a very public meltdown, shaving her head and losing custody of her sons to her ex-husband in February.

Her increasingly erratic behaviour led to her being taken into psychiatric care under a mental health order. A judge made her parents her guardians, giving them control of her money to stop her being taken advantage of by hangers on.

Since emerging from the mental health unit in the spring Britney has remained at home in LA with her father Jamie, getting her life back together.

Having been virtually estranged from her parents, Britney is now described as being 'incredibly close' to them again. This represents a major turnaround, since at the height of her troubles Britney publicly blamed her woes on her father.

Now, Jamie says: 'We've grown a lot. I've been able to come back into my daughter's life, and that was an adjustment anyway, because I'm an alcoholic and it's the first time we've really been able to share.

'It's wonderful. It's new for both of us. She sometimes calls me 50 times a day and asks me things that light my life up. But, like all daughters, she is very cunning. So she gets what she wants a lot.'

And Britney, who found out about her then 16-year-old sister's pregnancy from a paparazzi, is once again close to Jamie Lynn. After months of not speaking the pop star attended her sister's baby shower, marking the beginning of a new relationship for the two.
