Papin' Ain't Easy, But Being Britney Is Harder!

The following italicized article is taken from www.x17online.com:

Whoa, dude! What about the idea of personal space???

We love you, Brit, so here's my advice to you -- try Barney's! Use the valet and run inside or park underground and take the elevator up; then no one can come close AND the clothes are nicer!

Bald Britney -- Seems Like Just Yesterday

The following italicized article is taken from www.tmz.com:

Has it been a year already? Time flies in the life of an out-of-control popwreck -- and last year at this time, the biggest buzz involved hairless (on her head) Britney.

Shaved Spears had just left a Caribbean rehab facility after a measly 24 hours inside -- revealing to the world that her public angst could be matched by no other celeb.

What a year it's been, y'all.

Source: TMZ

What a year! And it's also weird to realise that now, after a year, it seems that Britney is finally slowing down!

Britney's Shaved Head: One Year Later

The following italicized article is taken from www.people.com:

It's been a bumpy 12 months for Britney Spears, for whom Saturday marks the one-year anniversary of her famously shaving her head.

After the hair-raising incident, the 26-year-old pop star kept her head covered with hats and wigs, including a pink bob that soon became an emblem of her odd behavior.

And, there was more. She became engaged in a very public battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, lost custody of her two young children, delivered a lackluster performance at the MTV Video Music Awards and suffered a meltdown that resulted in being hospitalized in a psychiatric ward.

But Spears, who has also released a hit song, "Gimme More," and received a barrage of advice about how to turn her life around, also has been toning down the antics since her one-week hospital stay.

Friday Shop-Seeing Spree

Friday she spent some quiet time in the afternoon shopping in West Hollywood, at the boutique of Filipino fashion designer Monique Lhuillier and the Fred Segal and the Betsey Johnson stores. At all of three places she appeared to do more browsing than purchasing.

On the domestic front, her family is caring for the pop star, who sources say has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Father Jamie Spears has been granted a co-conservatorship over his daughter's affairs, while brother Bryan is acting a co-trustee of his sister's revocable trust.

(A Los Angeles County Superior Court commissioner placed Spears under a conservatorship at the beginning of this month. Such conservatorships are established when a court determines an individual cannot take care of herself or her affairs.)

Mother Lynne Spears, who departed Los Angeles earlier this week, had been part of the attempted healing process, spending rare quality time with her daughter – cooking for and shopping with her.

All the while, the famous pink wig remains safely tucked away.

The New & Improved Britney Spears

Look at her!!!

Doesn't she appear calmer????

We are loving the new Brit Brit, and we're especially loving her new security detail and assistant.

Spears has been relatively calm lately, and that's a good thing. Her new meds must be kickin' in!

Britney and posse did a little shopping in LA on Friday at the Fred Seagal store. Thankfully the late nights and aimless driving around town seem to be done.

The bad influences are gone from her life!

And, speaking of bad influences, the Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that they are looking into allegations that Brit's former "manager" Osama Lutfi drugged her.

Homie better stay in hiding. Shit's about to go down for him!

Sources: Sam Helping Britney Fight Back

The following italicized article is taken from www.eonline.com:

Sam Lutfi may be trying to make a federal case out of Britney Spears' travails, but it doesn't appear he's been successful just yet.

A Los Angeles Superior Court spokesperson told E! News Friday that all of the orders pertaining to Jamie Spears' conservatorship over his daughter's affairs are still being handled in the local court, contrary to reports that the case has been transferred to federal jurisdiction.

And, contrary to the efforts of Britney's dearest-if-not-so-nearest to take it there.

Sources close to the situation confirm that Lutfi, who after two weeks has yet to be served with the restraining order Britney's family obtained against him Feb. 1, is behind the filing this week of a strongly worded petition seeking to move the troubled singer's custody and conservatorship cases from L.A. court to federal court.

"Sam is at war with Jamie. This is his first strike," a Spears insider said Friday, explaining that Lutfi feels Britney's rights were violated because court-appointed attorneys did not investigate the claims her family was making about her condition.

Lutfi's new publicist, Michael Sands, who insists that the case has been transferred, filed the petition this week on behalf of New York attorney Jon Eardley, who is listed in the paperwork as Britney's counsel.

Sam the Target of New Criminal Investigation!

The following italicized article is taken from www.ok-magazine.com:

Sam Lutfi, Britney Spears' former confidante and self proclaimed manager better continue laying low. Not only is he currently being hunted down by the people who wish to serve him with a restraining order, but he is now also being investigated by police for allegedly drugging the pop star.

TMZ is reporting that Lutfi is being investigated by the Major Crimes Division of the LAPD. Brit's conservators have complained that Sam drugged her as a way of keeping her under his control.

Lutfi, of course, could not be reached for comment, however his spokesperson Michael Sands says that he is aware of the investigation.Britney's mom, Lynn Spears, gave a signed declaration to the court earlier this month, revealing that the night she arrived at Britney's house for an intervention, Sam openly detailed to her his method of keeping Britney drugged up.

"Sam told Jackie and me that he grinds up Britney's pills, which were on the counter and included Risperdol and Seroquel. He told us that he puts them in her food and that was the reason she had been quiet for the last three days. He told us that the doctor who is treating her is trying to get her into a sleep induced coma so that they could then give her drugs to 'heal her brain.'

"Of the investigation, a court insider confirms to OK!--"Yes. He was practicing medicine without a license when he was grinding up a cocktail of prescription pills and putting it in her food. There's no doubt about that being a felony among other charges."

Britney Goes Bridal Gown Gazing!

The following italicized article is taken from www.etonline.com:

Sighted by ET for the first time since Wednesday, when she made a nighttime Starbucks run, BRITNEY SPEARS browsed on Friday at MONIQUE LHUILLIER, a designer bridal-gown boutique in L.A. Could wedding bells be on the pop star's mind?

As we previously reported, Britney's dad JAMIE's co-conservatorship was extended through March 10.

Law enforcement sources tell us the Major Crimes Division of the LAPD is on the case. The conservators have complained that Lutfi drugged Spears as a way of keeping her under his control. We're told the investigation is very much active.

Britney Resurfaces!

The following italicized article is taken from www.tmz.com:

No, she wasn't out of town. On the eve of the one-year anniversary of her celebrated head-shaving episode, she's back, bitches!

TMZ cameras caught up with the popwreck as she cruised into Betsey Johnson on Melrose Ave., carrying a dress on a white plastic hanger. She and 50 of her best paparazzi pals then made their way to the new Monique Lhuillier store. Is she trying on dresses for the Oscars?!

Oh lord, we hope so.

Britney's Case Isn't Going Anywhere Yet

The following italicized article is taken from www.pagesix.com:

In the wake of papers being filed at the L.A. Superior Court yesterday in which lawyer Jon Eardley asked that Britney Spears' conservatorship and custody cases be moved to the Federal courts, the Superior Court's Public Information Office has released a statement that reads, "It is our view that all current orders in this matter remain in full force and effect."

Michael Sands, a publicist who has most recently been linked to Britney's former pal and manager, Sam Lutfi, told PageSix.com today that the papers filed yesterday would negate both the conservatorship (in which Britney's father, Jamie, was given control over her finances and medical care), and the 21-day restraining order against Lutfi.

But Public Inormation Office says that's not the case, telling PageSix.com, "This has no bearing on either the pending probate case or custody case that we are aware of."

Sands maintains that Eardley has been hired as Britney's lawyer, but the commissioner in the conservatorship case ruled earlier this month that the 26-year-old was not mentally capable of retaining counsel.

Britney's Cases Staying Put, Court Rep Tells OK!

The following italicized article is taken from www.ok-magazine.com:

Despite rumors that Britney Spears' custody and conservatorship hearings may have already been moved to the jurisdiction of a federal court, a spokesperson for the office of public information for the L.A. Superior Court tells OK! that this is not true.

"The state and federal issues would have to be litigated among all interested parties involved in Ms. Spears' conservatorship," explains the spokesperson. "And at this time there is no change to any of her hearing dates on the calendar in state court. It is our view that all current matters remain in full force and effect."

At yesterday's hearing on the state of Britney's conservatorship, a lawyer named John Eardley attempted to file a motion requesting that all of the singer's current legal matters be moved to a federal court. As of yesterday evening, the Commissioner Reva Goetz had neither read nor ruled on the motion.

State Court May Have Lost Britney Jurisdiction

The following italicized article is taken from www.tmz.com:

It's the craziest thing we've ever heard, but it's probable the State court has lost jurisdiction in the Britney Spears conservatorship case.

Sources at the L.A. County Superior Court tell TMZ, "It's possible jurisdiction has shifted to the U.S. Federal District Court." How, you ask? Well yesterday, a lawyer filed legal papers in federal court asking a judge to seize control of the conservatorship case on grounds Britney was at great risk in the L.A. County Court system.

The sources say just by filing the paperwork, the federal court probably has obtained jurisdiction. We know that sounds bizarre, but legal experts tell us that is indeed what has happened.

A well-placed source in the L.A. County Court system says even if the federal court has jurisdiction, they believe the conservatorship and all orders are still in effect, but no further orders can be made or modified unless and until a federal judge kicks it back to the state.

Crazy, Crazy, Crazy. Stay tuned.

Bryan Spears: Britney's New Money Man

The following italicized article is taken from www.people.com:

Britney Spears's $100 million fortune is now out of her hands – and under the control of her brother and a lawyer, a court ruled Thursday. And for 30-year-old Bryan Spears, that means a big new role – keeping tabs on everything from cash to pay for medicine to money for her daily expenses.

Bryan was named a co-trustee to his famous sister's SJB revocable trust, where the singer keeps most of her money, according to court documents.

So what does it mean to be a trustee? Bryan – along with Ivan Taback, a partner in the personal planning department of the New York-based law firm Proskauer Rose who was also named a co-trustee – now have the power to pay for Britney's "continued security, medicine, food, other day-to-day expenses and for psychiatric and other medical services," according to court documents.

Bryan and Taback were named co-trustees because of an existing clause in the trust. According to the trust, if Britney stops being a trustee, "then Bryan Spears ... and Ivan Taback may act as successor co-trustees under the trust "

The troubled 26-year-old singer, who was recently released from the UCLA Medical Center psych ward, has been stripped of her trustee powers because she is currently considered "legally disabled" by the court, which also extended her father Jamie's co-conservator role until March 10.

The motion to make Bryan and Taback co-trustees was filed by Taback's law firm. However, according to the motion, neither party can act unilaterally, but require "unanimous consent" with the other trustees to act. The documents also state that the trustees can't sell or lease Britney's home without a court order, nor can they remove any of Britney's property from California.

The trustee appointments were made a week after conservatorship attorneys were granted the right to fire Britney's business manager, Howard Grossman.

Danielle Steel Talks About Britney's Situation

The following italicized article is taken from www.theinsideronline.com:

In a rare interview, New York Times best-selling author DANIELLE STEEL comments on BRITNEY SPEARS' situation telling Reuters, "I feel so sorry for her."

Steel speaks from experience. Her son NICK was diagnosed at the age of 16 with bipolar disorder and committed suicide more than a decade ago at the age of 19.

"Usually bipolars present extremely well and they can bounce into court ... look very together and be a complete mess three hours later on the streets somewhere," she told Reuters at an event for the 10th anniversary of the creation of the Nick Traina Foundation. "There's nothing you can do."

In echoing the recent and widespread speculation regarding Britney, Steel suggests that her problems, "illustrate the drama and dilemma of the family of mentally ill people in this country -- it's a very, very tough thing."

But she says there is hope for the troubled pop star and her family. "If it is the case (that she has bipolar), she can get on track with the right treatment and medication," she says. "In the case of Britney Spears' parents what you have to be is extremely loving, extremely resourceful and extremely persistent and every time you're defeated, just go at the problem again."

Lawyer: Britney Being Held in "Private Prison"

The following italicized article is taken from www.pagesix.com:

In a new motion dropped off at the courthouse today, New York lawyer Jon Eardley claims that Britney Spears is being "subjected by her parents to their complete and total control."

He goes on to allege in the documents that while Brit's "prescribed medications are designed for out-patient use...she is being confined by the conservator to the private prison of her own home."

Eardley asks that both Britney's custody and conservatorship cases be moved to federal courts, because "it is doubtful that Ms. Spears can receive equal protection and a fair trial or hearing...because of the intense media scrutiny." He states that only in a United States District Court could Britney (who is called in the docs, "the most public person who has ever lived.") have her "civil liberties" adequately protected.
