Britney Nominated For A VMA

The following italicized article is from www.accesshollywood.com:

Get ready — Britney Spears is coming back to the VMAs.

A year after her controversial performance at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, the pop star has been nominated for Best Female Video for “Piece of Me” at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, MTV announced on Friday.

“Piece of Me” joins Mariah Carey’s “Touch My Body,” Jordin Sparks’ “No Air,” Rihanna’s “Take a Bow” and Katy Perry’s chart-topping summer hit “I Kissed A Girl” in the category, which was voted on by online fans and industry insiders.

Nominees for Best Male Video were also announced, ranging from R&B club jams to hip-hop hits. They include Usher’s “Love in This Club,” Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop,” Chris Brown’s “With You,” Flo Rida’s “Low” and T.I.‘s “No Matter What.”

Meanwhile, online voting has begun for Best Pop Video and Best Hip-Hop Video, with Best Dancing in a Video, Best New Artist, Best Rock Video and Video of the Year on deck.

The awards show will be held September 7 in LA at Paramount Pictures Studios. As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, comedian and “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” star Russell Brand will host the show.

The Pussycat Dolls On Britney’s Deleted Video Cameo: ‘We Love Her!’

The following italicized article is from www.accesshollywood.com:

Britney Spears’ reported cameo may not have made it into the Pussycat Dolls’ video for “When I Grow Up,” but in an exclusive interview with Access Hollywood, the Dolls say Brit wasn’t to blame.

“It’s not a secret,” the pop quintet’s Melody Thornton told Access. “There are a lot of things that you do that don’t necessarily make the video and that didn’t, for whatever reason.”

“She came out, she did a cameo,” added lead singer Nicole Scherzinger, though Melody noted that Britney didn’t work directly with the Pussycat Dolls. According to VH1, in Britney’s deleted scene, she drove a car, waved at the Dolls in traffic and looked “hot and blonde.”

There are definitely no hard feelings from the five Dolls, who hope to work with the singer again.

“We love her, we’re all huge fans of Britney, always have been,” Scherzinger said. “We totally support her. Not everything makes the final cut but we want to do something with her in the future.”

“I was personally bummed because I really like Britney,” added Jessica Sutta, before declaring, “So Britney, if you’re watching, we want you!”

Spears Can Regain Health After Custody Battle

The following italicized article is from www.pr-inside.com:

BRITNEY SPEARS is "thrilled" her custody battle with KEVIN FEDERLINE is over - because she can now concentrate on "getting better".

Federline and Spears finally agreed on the custody of their two sons, Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, during a hearing at Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday (25Jul08).

Spears was ordered to increase her monthly child support by $5,000 (£2,500).

There were no amendments to Spears’ visitation rights - she currently enjoys three days and one night a week with her sons.

But Spears’ attorney Laura Wasser says the singer is delighted with the agreement - because her sons inspire her to improve her mental health.

Wasser tells People.com, "She’s thrilled. To have more time with her kids has been her motivation to get well. In light of her outstanding conservatorship, she couldn’t have asked for anything more."

Spears was admitted to Los Angeles psychiatric clinic earlier this year (Jan08). Doctors said the 26-year-old was no longer a danger to herself since being admitted and treated for her increasingly erratic behaviour.

I'll Make Brit A Hit

The following italicized article is from www.sundaymail.co.uk:

BRITNEY SPEARS will be the biggest star in the world next year - according to the man who is penning songs for her new album.

British producer, songwriter and chart star Taio Cruz, 23, is working on songs for the fallen idol.

Taio believes Britney will once again conquer the world - and that she was forced into recording her last album too soon.

He told Email: "I have been writing and producing tracks for the new Britney record but as always with her, I'm not allowed to talk about the sound.

"Her career is riding on this record so I need to sit down and talk to her to make sure she is ready.

"The songs will be good - she has Kanye, Pharrell, Timbaland and me doing tracks for her.

"It is more a matter of whether she is mentally and physically ready for this. On the last album, Blackout, she was tired and people were forcing her to put another album out.

"If she is ready it will be huge - she just came with Blackout too early."

Taio notched up a hit album with his debut Departure this year and shot to superstar status as a songwriter and producer.

He said: "I am working with Shayne Ward, Leona Lewis, The Sugababes, Britney, Justin,
Anastasia...quite a few really. I have no idea when I'll have time to work on my own stuff.

"I can't do anything too out there or it will scare people off. I am only starting my second album - Justin Timberlake did five before he started doing what he wanted. Britney did loads of pop before she started doing cool stuff."

Taio loves working with Timberlake.

"He likes to do what people won't expect so the two of us listen to sounds from all over the world.
"We have a few ideas. It could even be bagpipes - I used them in a track ages ago, a nice sample over an R&B beat.

They could pop up on a Britney or Justin album."

Taio plays Glasgow's ABC 2 on August 13 and his new single She's Like A Star is out on August 18.

Britney Spears to be Cut From Madonna Tour?

The following italicized article is from www.showbizspy.com:

Britney Spears' filmed scenes for Madonna's Sticky and Sweet tour could be cut out, it has emerged.

The 'Like a Virgin' singer and Spears recorded the scenes to be broadcast on huge screens.

But Madonna -- known to friends as Em -- "hates" the video and is thinking about getting rid of it altogether.

A source close to Madonna says, "Britney looks amazing in the video but Em watched it and told them to take it out because she hated it.

"It was a scene where Britney was pretending to rip her own hair out."

It was claimed earlier this week that Madonna is in "meltdown" mode and has been ordered to cut back her work schedule.

A source said, "Madonna is doing less than OK. She has been rehearsing for the tour and she is totally miserable.

"She's down physically and mentally. The situation with Guy is very, very tense. The way the press are going crazy with the A-Rod story, her brother’s book and her physical exhaustion are all taking their toll.

"Family tension with her father and two of her other siblings has also been awkward.

"She feels nobody has taken her side. One of her closest pals says she has never seen Madonna so low. She has been feeling low and looking really gaunt.

"Madonna was told to go soft on work and rehearsals, so she will now take one proper day off every week and go easy in the mornings.

"She has a blood analysis done every few days — including one during last Friday’s rehearsal in front of everyone."

Spears, meanwhile, has been nominated for a VMA for her Piece of Me video.

Britney & Kevin's Custody Settlement Finalized

The following italicized article is from www.people.com:

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline's custody settlement was signed Friday by a judge, officially ending their nearly two-year custody battle.

In the deal reached last week, Federline retained sole custody of Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden, 1 1/2. Spears – who is currently allowed two visits and one overnight per week – will get an additional sleepover by year's end, barring any setbacks.

"She's thrilled," the pop star's attorney Laura Wasser told PEOPLE. "To have more time with her kids has been her motivation to get well. In light of her outstanding conservatorship, she couldn't have asked for anything more."

Spears also agreed to increase Federline's child support to $20,000 a month (a $5,000 increase) and pay off his $250,000 legal tab. Documents show the child support increase went into effect on July 15, and that Spears's father, who remains in legal control of her affairs until a July 31 hearing, approved of the settlement terms.

"This has been a long ordeal [for Kevin] and for it to be over makes him very happy," his lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan previously said.

Legal experts say the former couple will undoubtedly return to court in the future, since custody settlements can always be modified.

Britney Settlement Papers: Blow By Blow

The following italicized article is from www.tmz.com:

The Britney Spears trial is over. The case has officially settled.

Under the terms of the settlement filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, before July 30, Brit must pay K-Fed's lawyer, Mark Kaplan, $250,000 for fees.

As for child support, K-Fed has scored. As we first reported, he's getting 5k a month more -- it's gone from $15,000 to $20,000 a month.

The agreement does not mention visitation, but we know Brit has three days and one night a week with the kiddies and that will increase as time goes on. We're told by fall, she'll have a second overnight a week.

Brit never asked for custody, because she's still under a conservatorship. So K-Fed has sole custody and she has visitation rights. We're told Brit is ecstatic.

Britney Spears gives custody to Kevin Federline (and $5,000 more a month)

The following italicized article is from www.latimes.com:

It's over, and Kevin Federline scored big time. And Britney has lost her kids.

According to the final custody agreement reached today (but not yet finalized), KFed gets sole legal and physical custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James.

And a five-grand increase in child support, going from $15,000 a month to $20,000.

And Britney Spears? She gets to keep seeing her kids with overnight visits. There's always a chance that in time she will get more custody.

But for right now, it's a monitered visitation deal. And, according to her lawyer, Laura Wasser, she has her kids tonight.

Maybe it's for the best — and in the best interest of the children right now — but it's sad when a mom loses custody of her kids.

Britney And K-Fed Custody Battle: IT'S OFFICIALLY OVER!!!

The following italicized article is from www.x17online.com:

We thought this day would never come! LA County Court Commissioner Scott Gordon filed the paperwork today that officially ended the custody battle between Britney and K-Fed. The hearing started around 2 p.m., and around 3:15 p.m., K-Fed's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, arrived at the courthouse and signed off on the settlement.

As you may remember, on July 17, Kaplan broke the news that Britney gave K-Fed sole physical and legal custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James. The next day, attorneys for both parties appeared in court to finalize the agreement, but it was never actually made official and "converted into a legal document with the court" until now.

Britney Spears' Custody Agreement Finalized:

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:

Report Spears ordered to pay legal fees for Kevin Federline, who will get $5,000 more a month in child support.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline's custody settlement is final, according to TMZ.com.

Under the settlement, which was filed Friday (July 25) in L.A. County Superior Court, Spears must pay $250,000 in Federline's legal fees. Also, Federline will get $20,000 a month for child support, up from his previous $15,000. The agreement doesn't mention visitation, TMZ reported.

On July 17, Spears agreed to give Federline sole legal and physical custody of their two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, while she would retain visitation rights. Federline's attorney,

Mark Vincent Kaplan, told E! News last week that the agreement had been signed by all parties but still needed to be approved by the court.

TMZ says Spears will have three days and one night a week with her sons, with more visitation possible in the future. The singer has only been allowed monitored visits with her children since late February, following her multiple hospitalizations. She was recently granted the right to have one overnight visit a week as well.

According to E!, the Federline camp credited Spears' father, Jamie — who was appointed the co-conservator of his daughter's estate in February — for helping to get the troubled 26-year-old singer back on the right path. The conservatorship is up for review at the end of July, at which point a court commissioner will decide whether to make the arrangement permanent. Kaplan said that there is language in the custody agreement that anticipates a possible end to the conservatorship, but he couldn't discuss what those terms are. "Nobody can predict what the future will bring, but ... to the extent possible, I think we have really anticipated how to proceed," he said.

Britney Spears to pay $20,000 a month child support

The following italicized article is from www.reuters.com:

Singer Britney Spears will pay child support of $20,000 (10,000 pounds) a month to ex-husband Kevin Federline for the care of their two children and will make a final payment of $250,000 to his lawyers, according to an agreement between the couple filed in court on Friday.

The monthly child support payment is a $5,000 increase over what Spears and Federline, a dancer and rap singer, agreed to last year, the court papers showed.

The agreement comes a week after lawyers said they had agreed to a final settlement in the child custody case, averting the need to go to trial.

In an order filed on Friday, the August trial was called off.

Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told several media organizations on July 17 the agreement would allow Federline to retain sole custody of his children with Spears -- Sean Preston, 2-1/2, and Jayden James, 22 months.

Spears' $250,000 payment for Federline's legal expenses is due July 30.

Spears, 26, and Federline, 30, married in 2004, split up in late 2006 and their divorce was finalized last year. Spears lost custody of the two boys in January after two brief hospitalizations for psychiatric evaluation.

Spears and Federline Settle Custody Case

The following italicized article is from www.associatedpress.com:

A custody settlement between Britney Spears and Kevin Federline has been finalized, including a $5,000-per-month child-support increase for the pop singer's ex-husband.

Attorneys delivered the terms of the agreement to a Los Angeles Superior Court office Friday afternoon. According to the documents, Spears' payments to Federline go from $15,000 to $20,000 per month, retroactive to July 15.

Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, also gets a single payment of $250,000 as a part of the agreement.

Last week, the parties said they had reached an agreement that would grant the 26-year-old pop singer more time with her children, including additional overnight visits

Britney, K-Fed Make Peace, Settle Custody Spat

The following italicized article is from www.eonline.com:

Britney Spears is getting more time with her kids. Kevin Federline is getting more money.

That's the takeaway from the settlement agreement reached between the former fun couple, E! News has learned.

Attorneys for the ex-Chaotic tandem were due in court this afternoon for a second straight day of discussions in the custody battle over sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1.

But at the last minute the hearing was scrapped and the respective lawyers were dispatched to the courthouse to file the paperwork.

“The hearing has been called off,” a spokesman for Los Angeles Superior Court tells E! News. “A settlement has been reached.”

According to a source close to Spears and familiar with the deal, the 26-year-old singer will be getting increased time with her boys.

The only thing requested in the settlement by Federline, 30, was "more money for him and his attorney," the insider says.

The deal means the ex-spouses won't be headed to a court showdown. A trial in the tug-of-war case had been scheduled for next month.

Spears is well on her way to regaining joint custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James, which she lost following her January meltdown.

“By the end December she will effectively be getting 50-50 time with her boys based on her improvement,” the Spears source says.

Breaking News: Britney & Kevin's Custody Battle Still On!

The following italicized article is from www.ok-magazine.com:

The California court system breathed a sigh of relief last week when OK! exclusively revealed that Britney Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline had finally reached an agreement over their prolonged custody battle for their two children.

However, sources tell OK! that Brit's dad, Jamie Spears, who has been acting as her court-ordered conservator for several months and who has final say over all her legal and financial matters, isn't happy with the agreement and is refusing to sign off on the settlement.

Both parties are expected back in court today at 2 p.m. PST for an emergency hearing with family court Commissioner Scott Gordon, who had been expected to make the settlement official several days ago.

Outside the courtroom, a spokesperson for the court said, "There apparently is a settlement... We expect it delivered by one of the lawyers this afternoon."

However, the spokesperson did say that he could not yet say when the details of the settlement will be released to the public.

On July 17, K-Fed's lawyer spoke exclusively to OK! to announce that he and Brit's attorney Laura Wasser had worked out an agreement between the feuding spouses. Under the terms of the settlement, Kevin is to retain sole legal and physical custody of Sean Preston, 2, and 1-year-old Jayden James, while Britney will continue to have visitation rights which may increase over time.

The agreement was presented to the court on July 18, at which point commissioner Gordon was expected to finalize the paperwork, finally putting an end to months of back-and-forth feuding.

BREAKING NEWS: Britney Spears' Custody Settlement Finalized

The following italicized article is from www.usmagazine.com:

Britney Spears' ongoing custody drama with ex-husband Kevin Federline is coming to an end: papers confirming their settlement are being filed.

"There is a final settlement in the Britney Spears-Kevin Federline custody case," Los Angeles County Superior Court spokesperson Allan Parachini tells Usmagazine.com.

"Documents will be delivered to the court today but they are not sure what time or if any of the documents will be made public today," Parachini explained.

Last week Spears, 26, agreed to give Federline, 30, sole custody of their boys Sean Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden, 1 1/2.

Federline is "absolutely delighted," his lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan has said.

Spears currently has monitored, twice-a-week visitation and one overnight visitation per week. Under the settlement, Spears will get more time with her kids, her attorney, Laura Wasser said last week.

"It was a victory for the whole family that they don't have to go to a trial," she said. "I think they figured out a way to work together, to co-parent and make sure their kids will benefit from the result of that."

The singer lost visitation rights in January after she was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Since then, she has been under the co-conservatorship of her father, Jamie. (A hearing is set for July 31 to determine if the co-conservatorship will be extended.)

Britney Spears Nominated -- By Fans -- For VMA

The following italicized article is from www.showbizspy.com:

Britney Spears still has her fans on her side.

The singer has been shortlisted by MTV voters as one of the nominees at this year's Video Music Awards (VMAs) for 'Piece of Me', it has been revealed.

The votes were cast online. Britney's is the only nominee whose name has come out – the names of the other women in her category remain under wraps. Her competition, as well as contenders for Best Male Video, will be unveiled on Pete Wentz's FN'MTV Friday night at 8 p.m.

The nomination gives the 26-year-old 15 total in her career; however, Britney has yet to score a Moon Man at the award show.

Britney's performance at last year's VMAs was branded the most "perplexing and vilified" in recent award show history.

Many speculated that the lackluster performance was down to Spears being thrown off after hearing comedian Sarah Silverman rehearse her monologue (which ripped Spears and called her kids "mistakes").

As well as being vilified by her fans, three New York newspapers tore into Spears' perceived comeback in their front-section news pages: "Britney Spears phoned it in for her 'comeback' performance ... It was a far cry from her energetic outings at VMAs past," the Daily News wrote.

"Totally lame, pathetically lip-synched," lamented the New York Post. As for "Gimme More," said the paper, "the song about lusting for too much wasn't enough to launch a dinghy, let alone re-launch the career of this ditzy disaster."

The New York Times said of Spears: "She didn't disappoint; she was awful. Visibly nervous, she tottered around the stage, dancing tentatively and doing nothing that sounded or looked like real live singing."

Britney was said to be embarrassed by the performance.

A source told People magazine last year, "She was just plain nervous because of all the hype and she's embarrassed."

Meanwhile, another surprising choice for this year's event: the host. British comedian Russell Brand will take the reigns when the show airs live on September 7, it was confirmed yesterday.

"I've just been invited to do it," Brand said.

"It'll be good to preside over what is sure to be only vaguely coordinated televised insanity.

"That's how I've made my name in [England]: Flying very much by the seat — and the crotch — of my pants."

Brand, 33, was recently criticized for making a hoax call to the emergency services during a stand-up gig.

As previously announced, the teen pop trio The Jonas Brothers will perform at the anything-can-happen event. Other performers and presenters will be announced at a later date.

The pop star was nominated in online voting for best female video for her Piece of Me at the 2008 VMAs, PEOPLE has learned.

For now, she's the only nominee whose name has come out – the names of the other women in her category remain under wraps.

Britney Spears Nabs MTV Nom for "Piece of Me"

Will Britney Spears make a return to MTV's Video Music Awards in September? The music network has just announced that the well-on-her-way-to-a-comeback pop princess is a nominee for Best Female Video for "Piece of Me."

The rest of this category and the Best Male nominees (as chosen by viewers via online voting) will be announced later today. The show—hosted by British comedian Russell Brand—airs live from Hollywood on Sept. 7.

Lest you forget—but how could you, really?—Spears' performance of "Gimme More" at last year's kudosfest was a jaw-dropping disaster. The big question now is, will Brit try to redeem herself by performing this time around?

Can Britney Finally Get a "Piece" of the Moon Man?

The following italicized article is from www.ok-magazine.com:

MTV viewers want another "piece" of Britney Spears.

The pop star, who memorably put on one of the most perplexing and vilified performances in recent award show history on last year's Video Music Awards, has been shortlisted by MTV voters as one of the nominees at this year's show.

Brit's video for "Piece of Me" is up for Best Female Video, selected via online voting at vma.mtv.com. Her competition, as well as contenders for Best Male Video, will be unveiled on Pete Wentz's FN'MTV Friday night at 8 p.m.

The nomination gives the 26-year-old 15 total in her career; however, Britney has yet to score a Moon Man at the award show.

Maybe that will all change this year, and maybe she will even stop by to pick up the statuette -- and more.

Last month, MTV President Van Toffler teased that he would consider inviting Britney back to perform on the VMAs.

"Everyone deserves a second or third chance, right?" he asked.

The 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, hosted by British comedian Russell Brand, will air live Sept. 7, 2008.
