Lawyer: K-Fed Getting a 'Bad Rap' on Expenses

The following italicized article is from www.people.com:

Whether it was a $1,100 tip at an L.A. restaurant or a $2,000 tip at a Vegas strip club, Kevin Federline's 2007 spending – detailed in recently released financial documents – has critics buzzing over his lavish lifestyle. But his lawyer says they need to look at the bigger picture before passing judgment.

"He's totally getting a bad rap here," according to Federline attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, who says the "court of public opinion" is focusing on a few outstanding expenditures. "It seems like an unnecessary attempt to knock him when there's really no basis to do that."

Kaplan claims that even the $2,000 Scores strip club tip has a logical explanation. "That was for a group of people for a friend's bachelor party," says Kaplan, who adds that it wasn't a tip: "That's just how the club categorized it."

Many of Federline's tips are less extravagant. During a September trip to Fat Tony's Italian Restaurant in North Carolina, he tipped $10.00 on a $41.69 bill.

Federline's Double Life

The papers show two sides to K-Fed. Last August, he spent $304.30 to fly to Las Vegas on low-cost Southwest Airlines. ("He doesn't fly private and more often he drives," says Kaplan.) But once he was there, he didn't cut corners. Over the next three days, he spent $3,038.69 at the Hard Rock Beach Club, $3,863.50 at Tao, and $10,220.65 at The Venetian.

Still, some of his spending is less rock star and more suburban dad. Routine charges at Target ($115.10), IKEA ($246.66) and Albertson's grocery store ($405.75) fill his credit card statements, interspersed with occasional shopping sprees at toy stores. (In May, he dropped $2,167.52 in one day at Toys R Us and Babies R Us.)

Kaplan also disagrees with Britney Spears's legal team's argument that the larger expenses suggest Federline should foot some of the custody-battle legal bills that he's asked her to pay.

"Don't focus on whether he spent too much money going on a vacation or going to a restaurant," says Kaplan. "Focus – as the court does – on was he reasonable having to incur these [court] fees? The answer is a resounding yes." Kaplan says that the legal fees were "built up quite frankly by the conduct of [Spears]" during some of her court-delaying, widely-publicized antics.

"I don't think the court should be distracted by the fact that he went to Las Vegas and spent $1,000 or $5,000,” says Kaplan. "It's not relevant."

Please Don't Touch the Britney

The following italicized article is from www.tmz.com:

Fans got a glimpse -- and a little too close for comfort -- of the old Britney, when the conservatorship wonder, and her security, hit up Brit's old stomping grounds on Tuesday -- a Malibu McDonald's bathroom.

She deserves a break today.

She had to pee!

New Britney Pictures!

Britney is seen here looking a bit bummed while at a stop in her car. Janet Jackson's Damita Jo is draped on the driver's seat. I bet her security guard is thrilled to be listening to that all day. Music is good for your soul, Brit. Cheer up!

Brintey Back To Her Pit Stops

The following italicized article is from www.x17online.com:

Britney definitely seems to be on the road to recovery after a tough year last year; but yesterday afternoon she stopped at McDonald's to hit up the bathroom -- she's back to her random pit stops!

But seriously, folks, a girl's gotta pee sometimes! After so much speculation about the need for her pit stops in the past -- which we at X17 never believed had anything to do with anything other than her needing to empty her bladder -- it's understandable that Brit would have to take care of business after such a long drive with her bodyguard.

Britney Designs New Plan for Boys

The following italicized article is from www.ok-magazine.com:

Britney Spears hopes that a new career in fashion will help her see more of her precious sons. The troubled pop star is in talks with fashion designer Christian Audigier to design a range of T-shirts.

Britney, who often designs and sews her own clothes, has tried to work with designer Christian before. "Britney and Christian had long talked about collaborating on a clothing line together," Christian Audigier spokesperson Nicole Irving tells OK!. "But the timing was never right. Now it looks like it's finally going to happen."

Sources close to the pop princess tell OK! that Brit wants to demonstrate to the judge in her custody battle with ex-hubby Kevin Federline that she is capable of handling the responsibilities of being in business and, therefore, can be a good parent.

"She desperately loves Sean Preston and Jayden James, and her heart breaks that she can't spend more time with them," the source reveals to OK!. "But she realizes that if she wants to have any hope of spending more time with her children, she's going to have to impress the court with her progress."

Britney's next court date is May 6, at which time she intends to prove to Commissioner Scott Gordon that she's knuckling down. With the help of her father, Jamie, the 26-year-old is well on her way to turning her life around.

"She used to spend her days driving aimlessly through L.A., going from gas stations to Rite Aid to Taco Bell," the insider tells OK!. "Now, with a schedule set by Jamie that includes getting up by 8 a.m., there has been a noticeable difference in Britney's attitude."

Quality time spent with her boys also helps Brits' spirit. Before her visit with Christian on April 3, the pop star spent three precious hours with her sons.

"Britney seemed really happy to see her sons," the insider recalls. "There were lots of smiles and hugs. She had a miniature John Deere tractor that the boys took turns riding on, as her father, Jamie, watched. You could tell that spending time with her sons really buoyed her spirits."
