Brit's Conservators Clean House

The following italicized article is from www.pagesix.com:

New players have been brought in to look at Britney Spears' business affairs, and the money the pop star shells out for additional lawyers could end up paying off — literally. Florida-based attorney Jorge Hernandez has been retained to head up the Brit's audit with Jive, her longtime record label, to determine whether the company owes her money. Tom Hansen, a powerhouse L.A. entertainment lawyer, has also been hired to look at all of Britney's contracts.

Jamie Spears and Andrew Wallet, co- conservators for Britney's estate, are getting a much better idea of where Britney stands financially and "are being extremely thorough in assessing the situation," our source tells us. "Her business affairs were in disarray because Sam [Lutfi] had isolated Britney, and it's going to be a very tedious task of going through everything." As we exclusively reported, Howard Grossman, Brit's former business manager, was a very good friend of Sam Lutfi's. Grossman has since been fired by Jamie.

The pop diva did not appear in court yesterday, as noted in the minute order realeased today, which states, "The court finds that the proposed conservetee is aware that this hearing and has chosen not to appear." Britney opted instead to go to a table read of How I Met Your Mother in preparation for her guest appearance on the show.

The minute order also states that going forward, all doctors names wouldn't be disclosed.

Britney Spears' next music video is pure animation.

In "Break the Ice," an animated Spears works her way through a futuristic environment.

"Since Britney has been otherwise occupied this was a creative and fun way to do her next video," a source tells Usmagazine.com.

The concept for the treatment was Spears' own idea, UK newspaper The Sun reports.

"Break the Ice" is the third single from Spears' Blackout album.

Spears is scheduled to play a dorky receptionist on the March 24 episode of CBS' How I Met Your Mother.

"Britney’s not playing a version of herself," Mother creator Craig Thomas tells Us. "I think that’s part of what appealed to her."

Draw Your Own Conclusions

Wee! There is a lot of really great Britney Spears news today ... in another stroke of professional genius, Britney has decided to become an animated character in her new music video Break the Ice. Here are a few screenshots from the music video that is scheduled for release next month:
BRITNEY SPEARS has undergone a radical transformation for her latest video. In ... world exclusive screen shots you can see the troubled star has had the animation treatment. The audacious promo to forthcoming single Break The Ice is set in a futuristic world, and sees Brit depicted as a pretty, slim line superhero. And the unorthodox shoot was the star's own idea. She told label bosses she wanted a cartoon version of her celebrated Toxic clip. The track itself is released on April 14.
BRILLS! First, I love that she has never used this concept in a music video before. Second, it's reminiscent of animation used in Madonna's Music video. Third, in animated form, Britney can look as svelte and as sexy as she likes so that there will be no room for haters to talk their shizz. Gee ... isn't it really starting to feel like our good ol' Britney is back among us? Like, really this time. Things are really starting to come together lately ... it's all a very good sign of things to come.

Neil Patrick Harris ‘Shocked’ By Britney Casting

The following italicized article is from www.people.com:

Neil Patrick Harris is embracing the news that Britney Spears will appear on his CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother — and he’s also having some fun with the idea.

“I was shocked that Madame Spears was willing to come and do some acting,” Harris, 34, tells Entertainment Tonight.

Noting “she hasn’t acted in a while,” Harris goes on to say, “This is a very interesting role. It is very not like her at all in real life in any of her previous chapters.”

In April 2006, Spears guest-starred on NBC’s Will & Grace as a two-faced conservative talk-show host alongside Sean Hayes’s flamboyant character Jack.

On How I Met Your Mother — set to air March 24 — “She plays the secretary to another girl that Ted [Josh Radnor] is after. So, it will be very unlike any Britney we have seen before, and we have seen a lot of Britney recently.”

Harris also tells ET that paparazzi will not be a problem when Spears, 26, shows up, because the series is shot on the secure FOX lot.

But he jokingly muses: “What if she shows up on set and she is absolutely, totally normal and that whole thing has been a big ruse?”

As he imagines it, “She is smoking a cigarette and [says], ‘Oh yes, it is all a big bit. I have a master plan.’ ”

Britney Spears "Was Laughing A Lot" on How I Met Your Mother Set

The following italicized article is from www.usmagazine.com:

Usmagazine.com has confirmed that Britney Spears will guest star on the March 24 episode of the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother.

The pop star, 26 will play Abby, a receptionist at a dermatologist’s office who falls for architect Ted (Josh Radnor) when he comes in to have a tattoo removed. (It is Spears' first return to the small screen since a 2006 cameo on Will & Grace.)

In Abby’s first scene, she bursts in during Ted’s painful session.

“Doctor, are you all right? I heard a woman screaming!” Abby says. Seeing Ted, she giggles.

Us spoke exclusively to show creator Craig Thomas about Spears, who attended a table reading with the cast on Monday.

Tell Us how this all came about.
Britney’s people ended up coming to CBS and expressing interest in our show, and we were thrilled: ‘Britney Spears watches our show!’

They said she was a big fan of the show?
They said she was looking for a small part on a funny show, and she checked out our show and liked it. They were really receptive to the idea of bringing Britney in and just doing a funny role for her. It all came together really quickly – it was kind of shocking.

How quick?
We heard that they read about the part on Thursday. We were literally in the middle of a re-write of that script, and they said, ‘Oh, we’re having dinner with Britney tonight, and she likes the show. Can you get her a script a half-hour from now?' So we just sort of busted ass for the next 40 minutes, hit print and showed her our in-progress rewrite of the episode. She got in and thought the character was really funny and said yes the very next day.

So the script came before you knew Britney would be attached to it?
That’s right. They thought the part was a great thing for Britney to do, just to keep her acting chops up and come have fun with us for a week.

Describe the role.
The episode's about Ted, our main character. Ted went crazy one night earlier in this season and got an embarrassing butterfly stamped right above his ass. Not his proudest moment. So he's now in the predicament of having to remove this tattoo, so he goes to a dermatologist to remove it and gets a big crush on his dermatologist. What he's sort of oblivious to, as he’s pursuing this dermatologist, is that the dermatologist’s receptionist (Spears) is falling in love with him. It's a fun, romantic comedy episode.

So Britney's character is kind of mousy?
She is just trying to get Ted’s attention and keeps on screwing up, saying awkward things. Ted’s absolutely oblivious. Go, Josh Radnor — he has Britney Spears chasing after him in this episode!

So it worked out pretty well that you happened to have this part.
I think it was great because it was the size and shape of what they wanted [her] to do. They were very explicit about wanting to do a funny, smaller part that Britney could come in and have a good time with. So I think it just fit what they were looking for. Britney came in [Monday], we did the table read. She did a great job, and we all had a lot of fun.

What happened at the table read?
She showed up a little bit early — the table read is at 10 a.m. — so she could talk to us and our director. It was great because we all got to know each other. We described what a fun, low-key environment our set was, and it seemed like that was exactly what she was looking for.

Who did she show up with?
She showed up with her acting agent, an assistant — not many people.

Was the acting agent the one who originally approached you guys?
Yeah, the person we interacted with was her acting agent.

How did the cast get along with her?
Great, they seemed to click. She seemed to fit right in! She was having a good time. She was laughing. And it’s a very sweet, romantic episode, so the vibe in the room was just very fun. Everyone was having a good time, and I think she had a good time.

When will she be filming these scenes?
It’ll be one of the days of this week: Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. It’ll be a day-and-a-half during those three days, but we don’t have the full schedule yet, so we’re not sure.

Is she going to talk differently, dress differently?
It’s a character, for sure! Britney’s not playing a version of herself. I think that’s part of what appealed to her: She gets to play a character who’s not her.

Have you ever seen her act?
Yeah. One of our executive producers was an EP on Will and Grace at the time that she was there, and he thought she was great. I remember seeing that episode, and she was great. Also, she’s hosted SNL. Britney’s really funny! We’ve seen her display her comedic chops before, so we’re thrilled to have her bring that to our show.

Is this going to be a recurring character?
You never know! We don’t rule anything out.

Do you know when this episode will be airing?
The episode is going to be on March 24.

Are you prepared to deal with the paparazzi on-set?
I don’t know that anyone’s going to get through! The table read this morning was so low-key — you wouldn’t even believe it! There weren’t a bunch of people there, no paparazzi. She seemed to have a great time, and we had a great time working with her. It was just like really a normal table read.

How long was she at the table read for?
She was probably here for an hour-and-a-half.

Did she give the impression that she knew the characters?
I think she did. She was really laughing a lot during the table read and seemed to understand the characters. When we were trying to get her to come on, we sent her that early version of the script and a few episodes. So she brushed up on watching those episodes again and read the script. We heard that she really liked all of it. We were thrilled that, less than 24 hours later, she was doing the show. That must mean that she liked the script!

That’s a pretty good sign.
I think it’s going to be one of our best episodes of season three!

Britney Creates Mama Drama

The following italicized article is from www.pagesix.com:

Hollywood was abuzz yesterday with the news that Britney Spears was returning to TV to guest star as a dermatologist's assistant on How I Met Your Mother — she had been MIA from television since a 2006 Will & Grace cameo. Everyone was looking forward to seeing if Brit could pull it off — everyone, that is, except for Alicia Silverstone.

See, Alicia was set to play the dermatologist Brit would be assisting, but according to Pink is the New Blog, the Clueless star felt the pop star would overshadow her and has told producers she's outtie. Way harsh, Tai.

Stepping in last minute to replace Alicia is Scrubs’ Sarah Chalke, reports TV Guide. Sarah knows a thing or two about being a late-in-the-game substitute — she took over the role of Becky Connor on Roseanne for three seasons after the orig Becks, Lecy Goranson, left to attend college.

Brit’s ep is set to air toward the end of April and fans of the underrated show are praying this isn't the encounter that has Ted telling his kids, this is how I met your mother.

Brit Gets a $1500 Per Week Allowance

The following italicized article is from www.ok-magazine.com:

It was back to court on Monday for all parties involved in the custody/conservatorship case of Britney Spears. The recovering pop singer herself was a no show however, despite the urging of her court appointed attorney, Sam Ingham.

"I have spoken to my client and she's been inconsistent with her position to attend these hearings," Ingham said on Monday. "The last word I got today was that she was not coming. I would categorize her as unwilling to appear."

Despite her failure to show up to court, the commissioner did agree to grant Brit's father and co-conservator, Jamie Spears, the authority to issue his daughter a debit/credit card, permitting Britney to spend up to $1,500 of her own money per week — the idea being to enable the former pop star to "enjoy herself and have some freedom of choice," said attorney for the conservators, Geraldine Wyle of Luce-Forward.

Commissioner Goetz also heard two reports today regarding Britney's mental condition. OK! has confirmed that Sam Ingham gave an oral report on her medical and mental health along with a court appointed physician who submitted a written report.Sam Ingham was also granted "extended powers" over Brit's trust.

Commissioner Goetz granted the conservatorship attorneys the amount of $25,000 a month to pay a new lawyer in Miami to handle Britney's reported legal issues there (she is reportedly having Jive Records audited because she thinks they owe her back pay).

All in all, it was a relatively positive day in court, and despite Britney's refusal to show (partly due to her disapproval of Ingham as her attorney) commissioner Goetz said, "even though it is clear that Ms. Spears is aware of these hearings and chose not to appear, I am holding this hearing as it is neccessary in her absence to prevent harm to her."

Britney must remain in California until the next conservatorship hearing on July 31, on which date the judge will decide whether or not to extend or dissolve the temporary conservatorship.

Neil Patrick Harris Talks About Britney Spears' New Role

The following italicized article is from www.etonline.com:

Earlier today, ET confirmed that BRITNEY SPEARS was signed to make a guest appearance on CBS' "How I Met Your Mother." Now, ET's KEVIN FRAZIER gets the 411 from series star NEIL PATRICK HARRIS on the role the pop princess will play.

"I was shocked that Madame Spears was willing to come and do some acting," Neil tells Kevin. "She hasn't acted in a while. This is a very interesting role. It is very not like her at all in real life in any of her previous chapters. She plays the secretary to another girl that Ted [JOSH RADNOR] is after. So, it will be very unlike any Britney we have seen before, and we have seen a lot of Britney recently."

Neil also says that the cast and crew of "Mother" are not gearing up for an onslaught by the paparazzi, because they do not film on location, but rather on the FOX lot.

He does kid around, however, floating a theory that the pop princess may secretly be a tabloid headline mastermind!"

"What if she shows up on set and she is absolutely, totally normal and that whole thing has been a big ruse?" he jokes. "She is smoking a cigarette and [says], 'Oh yes, it is all a big bit. I have a master plan.'"

Britney Faces Two Psych Evaluations

The following italicized article is from www.pagesix.com:

Britney Spears' conservatorship hearing has concluded, after a physician's report on the singer's status was submitted and attorney Samuel Ingham gave the court an update on her well-being.

Brit faces not one but two psychiatric evaluations in May, as both the probate court (where her conservatorship case is heard) and family court have requested one. The family court will hear the results on May 6, while the probate court will go over an evaluation on the 29th.

Otherwise, lawyers for all sides are expected back on April 17 to discuss a matter near and dear to their hearts, attorneys' fees. Two new lawyers were approved to be brought on for Brit's issues: Jorge Hernandez, who will serve as a consultant for matters on the conservatorship (at $25,000) and Tom Hansen, an entertainment lawyer who will receive $15,000 a month.

Allowances Made for Britney

The following italicized article is from www.eonline.com:

New to the Britney Spears payroll: Britney Spears.

A court commissioner on Monday approved a $1,500 weekly allowance for the beleaguered pop princess, whose financial affairs have been under the temporary control of her father and his attorneys for a month and a half.

The "Toxic" singer, whose estate is reportedly worth an estimated $100 million, will have access to the cash via debit card to "enjoy herself, have some freedom of choice," Geraldine Wyle, an attorney with Luce Forward, the firm overseeing Jamie Spears' conservatorship, told E! News.

Jamie Spears is getting $2,500 a week from his daughter's estate, plus funds to lease a car, in exchange for temporarily managing her affairs.

At the second Britney-related hearing of the day, the first being a face-off over custody-related attorneys' fees that took place in the morning, Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz also approved a release of $135,000 from Britney's accounts to pay bills, compensate specialty attorneys hired to help oversee the singer's affairs and to fund an ongoing audit of Jive Records, her longtime label.

Attorney Jorge Hernandez will receive a $25,000 retainer to be on hand to consult on all questions pertaining to the conservatorship, while entertainment lawyer Tom Hansen has been booked for $15,000 a month to consult on Britney's career-related deals and contracts (including, apparently, her upcoming guest appearance on How I Met Your Mother).

It's True! Britney Spears Will Guest Star on How I Met Your Mother

The following italicized article is from www.eonline.com:

This just in: A representative for show runners Carter Bays and Craig Thomas says "it's true" that Britney Spears will appear as a guest star on CBS' fan-favorite comedy series How I Met Your Mother this season.

The show's Fox rep also just confirmed the casting.

So, yes, it is happening. Britney will be on HIMYM.

As for details on her role, the reps would not comment, but we are hearing Britney is set to appear in the 14th episode of the season. And insiders tell us exclusively that the most likely role for Britney in that episode is "Abby," a girl who works in Ted's doctor's office. She's described as "sweet and friendly and scattered and a little nerdy—a female Michael Cera."

This would mean that most of Brit's scenes would be with the show's lead character, Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor). In the episode, Ted has a crush on another girl named Stella who works in the doctor's office, and he sports a different look to impress her every time he comes in for a visit.

So, is this the best news ever or worst news ever for fans of How I Met Your Mother? Vote and comment below.

You gotta admit, if nothing else, this casting will do precisely what we fans have been hoping for for years: Bringing more mainstream attention to a truly deserving show.

P.S.: I’ll be hitting HIMYM’s season premiere party on Thursday, so email any questions you have for the cast to tvdiva@eonline.com. The show returns next Monday, Mar. 17.
