Britney Spears Tapes Commercial -- With LL Cool J, Pete Wentz, Russell Brand -- For MTV Video Music Awards

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:

Britney Spears' performance at last year's MTV Video Music Awards was memorable in ways the singer would probably not prefer.

But Brit's joined forces with this year's VMA host, Russell Brand, along with LL Cool J and FNMTV host/ Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz for a comical improvised promo for this year's show.

In the promo, which was filmed this week, Spears riffs with Brand in an improvisational Q&A session, during which Brand suggests there's some sexual tension between them — "I didn't feel any tension," Brit quips. She also shows some of the comedic chops she employed during her two-episode stint this spring on CBS' "How I Met Your Mother,", joking that she has no idea who Brand is, at one point calling him, "Russell Brown"; LL Cool J calls him "Russell Bland."

While it remains unconfirmed whether Spears will appear at this year's show — which will be broadcast live from the legendary Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood on September 7 — the singer is nominated for two Moonmen: in the Best Female and Best Pop Video categories, for her track "Piece of Me."

Incredibly, despite 16 nominations in previous years, Spears has never won a Moonman, but is hoping to break that dry spell next month.

This year, she'll face off against Katy Perry, Rihanna, Jordin Sparks, and Mariah Carey — another artist with several VMAs nods under her belt but no statuette — for Best Female Video, and will contend with Danity Kane, the Jonas Brothers, Panic at the Disco and Tokio Hotel for the Best Pop Video prize.

The 25th VMAs will take place at the legendary Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood on September 7. The Jonas Brothers and Lil Wayne are confirmed to perform.

Britney Spears + MTV VMAs = Take Two

MTV may be keeping mum on whether or not Britney Spears will take to the stage and perform at next month’s 2008 MTV Video Music Awards but they are happily letting the world know that Brit Brit is appearing in the new promo campaign for the awards show. Here is our first look at a new promo pic for this year’s VMAs which features Britney Spears, VMAs host Russell Brand and a 900 lb. elephant in the room:

She’s (almost) back! A year after her embarrassing performance at the Video Music Awards , Britney Spears returned to the MTV stage this week to tape a promotional video for this year’s ceremony. “Britney looked really good,” says a source. “It was improvisational questions and answers with [host] Russell Brand just like [other promo guest stars] LL Cool J and Pete Wentz did. Russell joked about there being sexual tension, and Britney shot back, ‘I don’t feel the tension’. The other joke was about no one knowing who Russell was so she called him by the wrong name. LL called him Russell Bland and Britney called him Russell Brown.” The shoot also included a 9,000 pound elephant. Says the source, “The joke of the whole thing is ‘there is an elephant in the room’.” While the network cannot confirm whether Spears will appear on the show airing on Sept. 7, Spears’s promo appearance is a promising sign. The singer, who has been nominated 17 times, has yet to walk away with a win and is nominated for two this year. She is up for best female video and best pop video.

OMG! She is SOOOO gonna be there. And she is SOOOO gonna kick ass this year, I just know it. I had the misfortune to bear witness to Britney’s disastrous performance inside the Pearl Theater at the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV for the VMAs last year and remember how disappointed everyone (including me) was … but this year, I just know it, she’s gonna undo all of that negativity. I can feel it in me bones, she is gonna have a huge comeback this time … I know it, I know it, I know it. Just wait and see …

The following italicized article is from www.accesshollywood.com:

Britney Spears is heading back to MTV’s “Video Music Awards,” Access Hollywood has confirmed.

According to E! News columnist Marc Malkin, Spears recorded the promo at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, the same locale the “VMAs” will broadcast from this year.

Spears appears in the spot with “VMA” host, British comedian and co-star of “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” Russell Brand.

“It was mostly ad-libbed, with Russell asking her for advice about hosting the show,” a source told Malkin. “There’s also a 9,000-pound elephant in it, as in ‘the elephant in the room.’”

It was unclear at press time if Spears will perform on the September 7 show.

Britney Appearing In MTV VMA Promo -- But Will She Perform?

The following italicized article is from www.x17online.com:

We've been speculating for weeks that Britney Spears would be returning to the VMA stage, and now it seems the pop princess is one step closer to signing on.

Eonline reports that Britney filmed a promo with this year's host, Forgetting Sarah Marshall's Russell Brand (odd choice), in which the Brit actor/comedian asks the VMA veteran for advice about hosting the show.

During the promo, they also apparently ignore the elephant in the room -- literally. A source says, "there's also a 9,000-pound elephant in it, as in 'the elephant in the room.' "

We can't wait to see the promo, and are even more jazzed about a possible new Britney performance!!!

Heck, we'd be excited just to see her take the stage, nevermind perform!

Britney Reunites With Kentwood Friends For Dinner

Someone explain this to me: WENN, the paparazzi company that took these shots, claim Britney wore the same exact outfit and visited the same exact restaurant she did two nights ago. Maybe they're wrong. But wait! Britney is seen leaving the restaurant with her cousin Laura Lynn and gal pal Courtney (both attending Britney's wedding. [her first one.]) In the other set of pictures, Britney is seen leaving with her bodyguards and assistant Brett. Britney's trying to trick us! They say a paparazzi shot is worth less if the star is in the same outfit as they were before. Tricky tricky. Oh, and can I please just say I'm so happy to see Britney hanging out with some longtime girlfriends. How long was I whining about that? And it's happened! Good, I'm glad she's got some old friends back in her life. I just picture all of them sitting around a fire in Brit's home watching "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and eating pop corn, painting their nails and just laughing. Oh and in that same dream they're having a pillow fight in their jammies. What!? Anyway, just go along thinking that they're new unless we're told otherwise.

Britney Spears Makes a Return to MTV's Big Night

The following italicized article is from www.eonline.com:

Britney Spears apparently isn't feeling any ill will toward MTV after her disastrous performance at last year's Video Music Awards.

The well-on-her-way-to-a-comeback pop princess will appear in a television promo for this year's VMAs.

Read on for all the deets...

She shot the spot on Tuesday at the Paramount lot in Hollywood (the site of this year's show) with first-time host, British bad-boy comedian and Forgetting Sarah Marshall star Russell Brand.

"It was mostly ad-libbed, with Russell asking her for advice about hosting the show," a source tells me. "There's also a 9,000-pound elephant in it, as in 'the elephant in the room.' "

So, does this mean Ms. Spears, who is up for two VMAs this year, will be performing on the big night when it airs live on Sept. 7?

A rep for MTV declined to comment on the possibility.
