Britney Spears is First Artist to Launch Facebook Gifts

International Icon, Britney Spears, will launch an exclusive line of virtual gifts on Facebook®. This marks the first time that a global recording artist has offered virtual gifts specific to their likeness on Facebook.

Influential computer Iconographer, Susan Kare, collaborated with Spears and designed a line of gifts unique to the star. The gifts, all signed by Spears herself, include Britney themed cakes and balloons for birthdays, limited edition images of memorable Britney moments and exclusive "Circus" tour related gifts. The first six virtual gifts will be available for purchase in the Facebook Gift Shop at 7:40 p.m. EST on Wednesday, August 12th. Fans can log on to www.facebook.com/GiftShop to purchase the gifts which cost $2. Each month, Britney will offer an exclusive complimentary gift for her fans on Facebook.

Spears has proven herself a pioneer in the online marketing forum. In addition to the exclusive deal with Facebook and having close to 2 million fans on her Facebook Page, Spears was also the first artist to hit the one million follower mark on twitter and remains # 3 overall.

After recently wrapping up her European tour, Spears is gearing up to complete the Britney second leg of her "Circus" tour in North America.
