In Touch reports the Good Charlotte Rocker, 29, and Spears, 27, have been hooking up -- but Spears' publicist Holly Shakoor denies any connection.

The tabloid claims that Spears' dad, Jamie, and her manager, Larry Rudolph, have been searching for potential suitors for the singer, including Chace Crawford, Michael Phelps, Jesse Metcalfe and Madden.

"Larry made phone calls, and Benji ended up being the most interested in being fixed up," In Touch claims. "He plans to make a big, splashy announcement to help publicize her tour."

But Madden was spotted with his ex (and on-again/off-again friend to Spears), Paris Hilton, twice this week, and Spears just got back to L.A. after promoting her new album, Circus, in Tokyo.

According to estimates from Hitsdailydouble, Britney will reportedly slide down to the #4 spot selling 175-190k, with Jamie Foxx coming in at #3 (230-245k) and Keyshia Cole at #2 (300-315k). Taylor Swift is expected to remain in the #1 spot, selling around 340-355k.

In Touch is reporting that Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden, who split from Paris Hilton less than a month ago, is secretly dating the socialite’s on-again/off-again pal, Britney Spears.

Just for the bitch fight that’ll break out once the news hits Paris’ ears, let’s hope this is one piece of tabloid dish with a grain of truth.

“They’ve been on a few dates,” a snitch close to Madden revealed in the December 29 edition of the tab. “They met once at The Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills for dinner in a hotel suite.”

So far, things are blossoming smoothly for the rumored lovers.

“She appears to like Benji a lot, and he seems to really like her.”

According to the In Touch spy, Britney’s manager worked with Papa Jamie Spears to create a list of potential boyfriends for the pop icon. In addition to Benji, the list also included Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford, actor Jesse Metcalf, and Olympian Michael Phelps.
