Britney Spears Debuts Sexy '3' Video
After a series of sneak peeks and teases on her Web site and Twitter, Britney Spears officially debuted the music video for her hit single "3" on Friday (October 30). The sexy, fast-paced clip for the song, which will be included on The Singles Collection when it's released next month, made its big debut on her site.
The video, shot by director Diane Martel earlier this month, is a series of glamour shots and dance breaks. The video opens with Britney in a sparkly little black dress, spritzing herself with perfume and putting on mascara. Then it cuts to a shot of her holding her hair up provocatively and singing the song's sexy opening lines: "1,2,3/ Not only you and me/ Got 180 degrees/ And I'm caught in between."
The video quickly becomes a montage of Britney doing what she does best: being sexy. Shots of the singer in black and white, wearing a halter-cut leotard in a steam-filled room, are cut with images of just her legs in lacy tights walking across the screen.
Britney also does a lot of dancing in close-up shots, where you can't fully see her whole body. In some of the dance sequences she's flanked by male dancers or standing in a lineup of sexy women who do acrobatics on a raised ballerina bar as she sashays around. There are a few moments in the video where Britney's personality shines. She smiles at the song's tongue-in-cheek lyrics, particularly when she finishes the song's bridge about loving multiple people at once.
The video ends with Britney looking directly into the camera before it fades to black. Late Thursday, before the video premiered, she tweeted, "Can't wait for ya'll to see my new video tomorrow morning. I think you're really going to like it!"

Motherhood Brings a Smile to Britney's Face
Riding high on the release of her latest music video, Britney Spears took her boys to dinner in Calabasas, CA on Friday night (October 30).
The 27-year-old performer has been busy on tour and taking care of her personal life but she still shared a smile with the photogs as she carried Jayden James Federline into the restaurant.
Britney was in great spirits as fans are responding positively to the music video for her latest hit single, 3.
“I thought Britney’s video was awesome. It was very cool. The track is awesome. It’s a really good tune. It’s something to dance to,” one fan tells MTV News. “She just looks good throughout the whole video — she looks like she did when she first started singing. I think she’s really starting to make some new music, and it’s awesome.”
Says another: “I think she’s looking hot and I think it’s a great tune. I think she’s about to win back America’s heart. Anything she’s wearing, anything [in the video is hot]. She looks like a MILF. She is the MILF of today.”

Britney Spears Trades Plot for Simple, Sexy Dancing in “3″ Video
After teasing fans with 15-second clips on her Twitter yesterday, Britney Spears finally revealed the video for her Hot 100-topping single “3,” the new track that will feature on her upcoming The Singles Collection. You’d expect the video for a song about threesomes to be Rated-X, but Spears keeps things borderline tasteful with the “3″ vid, busting out some suggestive dance moves that are nowhere near as racy as the lyrics to “If U Seek Amy.” Instead, Spears and her cadre of dancers go the “Single Ladies” route by scaling back on sets and simply dancing in front of white and gray backgrounds. It’s not Britney’s best (it’s nowhere near her “Slave 4 U” clip), but we haven’t seen her dancing with this much conviction since the In the Zone era.
Considering that today marks the two-year anniversary of Blackout, as Spears’ official Website points out, it’s clear Britney’s dance skills are getting back on track.
As Rolling Stone previously reported, Spears’ The Singles Collection will be released on November 24th, joining a release week that also features Adam Lambert’s For Your Entertainment, Rihanna’s Rated R, Lady Gaga’s The Fame Monster and 50 Cent’s Before I Self Destruct.

Britney's New Hot Music Video
So … what do y’all think? It’s hot, right? I LOVE the white, low-cut body suit … she looks effing fantastic! The choreography is dope … but it is kinda lame that they censored the word “sin” … I mean, seriously? I do like Britney’s facial expressions during the “break down” of the song … her expressions make the song even more cheeky ;) 3 is the new single taken from her upcoming release Britney Spears: The Singles Collection. LOOOOOOOVE this video … our dear Britney has done it again!! Thoughts, comments, raves?

Britney's New Beau Treats Her Boys "Like His Own"
When Britney Spears' two sons, Sean and Jayden, were looking for a pal to splash around with poolside during a recent trip with their mom to Mexico, they knew right who to call on: Her new beau, Jason Trawick.
"Jason was great with the kids and you can tell Britney really trusts him," an eyewitness to the group's three-night getaway at the Tides Zihuatanejo resort in Mexico earlier this month, tells Us. "He would pick up Jayden if he wanted to be held, immediately calming the boy down."
And it is Trawick's calming influence over her sons that puts mom Spears -- whose two-year marriage to Kevin Federline ended in 2006 -- at peace.
"He is absolutely fantastic with the boys," a Trawick pal enthuses. "When you see him with them, you wouldn't think for a moment that he wasn't their dad. He treats the kids like they are his own." (Though Spears has visitation rights with her sons, their father, Federline, 31, maintains custody.)
Trawick, 37, described as "a nice guy who doesn't take life too seriously," stood by Spears, 27, during her darkest moments (she was involuntarily committed twice to a psychiatric hospital in 2008 and lost custody of her boys the year before).
"[Jason] seems ready to take on the responsibility of a single mom with two kids," another friend of Trawick's confirms.

Britney Spears: Movie Day with the Boys
Living the good life while on break from her Circus tour, Britney Spears was back at the movies for a second day in a row in Calabasas on Thursday (October 22).
Toting young Jayden James in her arms, the “Gimme More” singer was accompanied by her security team with her eldest son Sean Preston following closely behind.

Forget about all that talk that Britney Spears owes her toned new body to eliminating junk food from her diet.
Britney and boyfriend Jason Trawick saw the movie Zombieland on Tuesday night in a nearly empty theater in Calabasas. We nearly dropped our Raisinets when Brit walked into the nearly empty lobby. And yes, she does look as great as recent bikini photos have show.
But an eyewitness, trying not to stare, quickly discovered that the singer's hot new bod is not because she's depriving herself of junk food. She had a humongous bag of popcorn and didn't wait to get inside the theater before munching away. She and Jason then got the largest size slushie and slurped away.
Seems like the romance is still alive: Britney and Jason walked arm-in-arm into the theater.

Jack White: 'Britney Is More Authentic Than Most Rockers'
Speaking of the importance of authenticity, White remarked: "I don’t know if Bob Dylan and Tom Waits are as authentic as I think they are. Perhaps they’re not."
He added: "Sometimes you start thinking that maybe Britney Spears or someone like that who’s doing exactly what they want to do in the way that they best know how, is more authentic than any of those people you could mention."

Olivia Newton-John Pities Britney
OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN is grateful she found fame in the 1970s - because she doubts she could handle the amount of attention BRITNEY SPEARS receives now.
The 61 year old was propelled to stardom after her turn in 1978 movie Grease and graced the covers of magazines worldwide.
Newton-John refused to take her pin-up status seriously at the time, and claims the decision kept her grounded. But the actress feels sorry for Spears, who found fame as a teenager in the late 1990s - because the amount of press coverage sexy stars receive nowadays is unprecedented.
She tells Britain's Attitude magazine, "The poor girl. She has lived in a time where the paparazzi reign and we didn't have that problem at all. We'd have occasional intrusion, you know I had a few incidents, but it was nothing like it is now.
"I don't think you realize it (early fame) until you look back because it doesn't really feel like reality in the time. I never really took it too seriously, which is healthy."

Aks Billboard: Britney's Latest Greatest Hit
BEST OF THE BEST
Hi Gary,
With much talk about Britney Spears' debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "3" this week, let's not miss an interesting record that may have been set.
This may be a bit tricky to confirm, but is "3" the first song originally released as new material on a greatest hits album to reach No. 1? Here, I am talking about albums containing mostly previously-released material, so I'd be hesitant to count "HIStory" by Michael Jackson (containing the 1995 Hot 100 No. 1 "You Are Not Alone"), because half that collection's tracks were new.
I recall that "Slip Slidin' Away" by Paul Simon, one of two new songs on his 1977 album "Greatest Hits, Etc." reached No. 5 on the Hot 100. I'd be interested in seeing if your readers can find any other examples of new tracks from hits sets performing better.
Thanks,
Patrick Kelly
Brampton, Ontario, Canada
Hi Patrick,
What an interesting take on Spears' new Hot 100 leader. By their very nature, greatest hits albums in many cases do not contain any new music. So when they do, and a new song becomes a hit, it can only give consumers more reason to purchase a set containing numerous tracks they may already own.
It's also rare for a greatest hits set to yield a smash single in the sense that, generally, an act releasing such an album has collected so many hits that they may have graduated from receiving major airplay on popular, hit-driven radio formats. For an act to release a new song and send it to the Hot 100's summit illustrates that even well into a career, that artist remains extremely relevant, which is no small feat.
With such a wide scope to research - namely, only every greatest hits album that has ever been released - I sure wouldn't turn down any assistance from any willing Chart Beat readers. But, I can cite at least two songs from all-out greatest hits albums that crowned the Hot 100 prior to Spears' "3."
The first was by an artist who once duetted with Spears, not to mention shared the stage with her in one of the most famous moments ever on the MTV Video Music Awards: Madonna.
While Michael Jackson's 1995 retrospective contained one disc of hits and one of new songs, Madonna had released a clear-cut hits package more than four years earlier that contained 15 smashes and two new tracks, "The Immaculate Collection." The old- and new-material girl ushered in the set with "Justify My Love," and the hypnotic track topped the Hot 100 for two weeks in January 1991.
In November 2005, Destiny's Child topped the Billboard 200 with "#1's." The album included among its three new tracks a solo Beyonce cut, "Check On It." The song, also subsequently included in the film (but not the soundtrack to) "The Pink Panther," in which Beyonce starred, topped the Hot 100 for five weeks beginning in February 2006. (Thanks to Billboard 200 chart manager Keith Caulfield for noting this feat).
Again, readers are welcome to note any other such song, but here are five hits first made available on best-of sets that reached the Hot 100's top five, joining the Paul Simon track that you reference:
No. 3, "Runaway," Janet Jackson, 1995
No. 4, "Always," Bon Jovi, 1994
No. 4, "I Still Believe," Mariah Carey, 1999
No. 4, "Again," Lenny Kravitz, 2001
No. 5, "What Kind of Man Would I Be?," Chicago, 1990
Spears releases the standard version her second hits compilation, "The Singles Collection," Nov. 10. The album will contain 17 previously-released songs and "3."
The "Ultimate Fan Box Set" version of "The Singles Collection," out Nov. 24, will contain all her singles, including "3." Each disc will be packaged in its own slip sleeve case with original artwork, and will include an additional b-side or remix of the track. The collection will also sport a DVD featuring all of Spears' videos in chronological order and a booklet with images and trivia about each track.
Spears' first retrospective, "Greatest Hits: My Prerogative," reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in 2004. It has sold 1,363,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Mom: Britney's New Beau Would Make a "Dream" Husband
After a rocky romance with paparazzo Adnan Ghalib and a devastating marriage to Kevin Federline, Britney Spears has found love with agent Jason Trawick -- and her mother, Lynne, thinks he is The One, Us Weekly reports in its latest issue (on newsstands now).
"Lynne said, 'He's the kind of man you would dream of your daughter marrying. The kids love him, and he's stable,'" a friend tells Us Weekly.
Trawick, 37, stood by Spears, 27, during her darkest moments (she was involuntarily committed twice to a psychiatric hospital in 2008 and lost custody of sons Sean, 4, and Jayden, 3, the year before).
"Most everyone else abandoned her, but Jason refused to be completely cut out of Britney's life," says a source. "He's very protective of her."
Besides his quick wit and ability to make her laugh in any situation, sources tell Us Trawick accepts Britney - drama and all.
"She has been honest with Jason about what she’s been through in a way that I don't think she's been with other people, and he always preferred to not sugarcoat the harsh reality of what happened to her," says a pal. "He tells her when she should take responsibility for her own actions."
For much more on Spears - including how she is still haunted by the effect her mental illness had on her boys, how she has repaired her once rocky relationship with her mother and how Trawick has already began acting as "dad" to the singer's sons - pick up the new Us Weekly today!

Britney Settles with Treadmarked Papper
Team Britney Spears has reached a financial settlement with the paparazzo who accused the pop star of intentionally driving over his foot with her Mercedes back in 2007.
Rick Mendoza, who was working for TMZ at the time, had argued that Brit's people "should have known ... Britney was not in the mental, emotional and/or physical condition to operate the subject motor vehicle in a safe and reasonable manner."
The terms of the settlement were not released -- but Mendoza had originally demanded more than $200,000 in damages.

Diane Martel: '3 Is Her Next Steamy Video'
The director of the video for Britney Spears' single "3" tells Life & Style exclusively how the steamy sequence came together.
"I think it's her next sexy video," says director Diane Martel. "It's a very simple video for her -- I don't think you've seen her this much under a magnifying glass. Everything's really strong and playful."
Britney helped with the look of the video, too. "We collaborated on the wardrobe and had meetings about hair and makeup people," reveals Martel. "We talked a lot on the phone and met Tone and Rich — two of the best choreographers."
Martel says Britney was great to work with. "She's so sweet and funny and so normal and down to earth. It's really fun as a director to see her in front of the camera. She's so creative with this stuff. The video is very simple, it's very, very minimal. So it's her, her, her. And she's totally engaging every second. She really knows how to work with a camera and move.
"I was really impressed, and I have worked almost with every female artist in the business," Martel adds.
Britney herself is excited about the results, posting on Twitter, "It's gonna be hot!"

Soon-To-Be Pop Princess Talks about The Soon-To-Be Queen of Pop
Britney Spears was featured in a video clip during "Human Nature" in your Sticky & Sweet show. She's stuck in an elevator and starts to go crazy. Is that how you analogize what's happened in her career?
Yes. Didn't that explain what I thought? "I'm not your bitch, don't hang your shit on me." I just think people should mind their own business and let her grow up. I think everyone goes off the deep end at one time or another, and she, like Michael Jackson, didn't really have a childhood, so there are some inherent problems in that scenario. I have a lot of compassion for her, and I hope that she can find balance in her life. I don't know how bad her meltdown was. One can't believe everything one reads.

Britney Spears Ditches Junk Food
Britney Spears has reportedly swapped junk food for healthy sushi.
The 27-year-old mother-of-two - who was recently pictured on holiday in Mexico showing off an incredible slim and toned figure in a tiny black bikini - used to love feasting on fried chicken, mashed potato and frappuccinos but has now found a taste for low calorie fish.
GK Reid, who recently styled the music video shoot for her new hit single 3, told The New York Post: "She exhibited amazing energy and was in great shape - her body looked better than it has in years - she munched on sushi instead of junk food."
He added: "She even sang live with the words. She worked really hard and was really sweet to all the dancers."
The video to the new No 1 hit is a tribute to threesomes. Reid said: "It's really steamy."

Chart Beat Wednesday: Britney By The Numbers
'3' IS THE NEW 1: As previously reported, Britney Spears' "3" rockets onto the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 1. The song's arrival at the summit marks just the 15th song in the Hot 100's history to open at No. 1:
Sept. 2, 1995, "You Are Not Alone," Michael Jackson
Sept. 30, 1995, "Fantasy," Mariah Carey
Nov. 25, 1995, "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)," Whitney Houston
Dec. 2, 1995, "One Sweet Day," Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men
June 14, 1997, "I'll Be Missing You," Puff Daddy & Faith Evans featuring 112
Sept. 13, 1997, "Honey," Mariah Carey
Oct. 11, 1997, "Candle in the Wind 1997/Something About the Way You Look Tonight," Elton John
Feb. 28, 1998, "My Heart Will Go On," Celine Dion
Sept. 5, 1998, "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," Aerosmith
Nov. 14, 1998, "Doo Wop (That Thing)," Lauryn Hill
June 28, 2003, "This Is the Night," Clay Aiken
July 10, 2004, "Believe," Fantasia
July 2, 2005, "Inside Your Heaven," Carrie Underwood
July 1, 2006, "Do I Make You Proud," Taylor Hicks
Oct. 24, 2009, "3," Britney Spears
"3" concurrently launches at No. 1 on Digital Songs and No. 49 on Radio Songs/Hot 100 Airplay. After its first week of airplay and prior to its digital release, the song debuted last week at No. 14 on the Hot 100's Bubbling Under chart (viewable at billboard.biz).
SHORT STORY: Two weeks after the Black Eyed Peas completed the longest uninterrupted stay for an act at the top (26 weeks with "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling"), Britney Spears establishes a record somewhat opposite in nature: "3" becomes the shortest title to reach the pinnacle in the Hot 100's 51-year history.
"3" passes the previous mark of three characters held by seven No. 1 titles, three of which feature vocals from Michael Jackson:
"Why," Frankie Avalon, 1959
"ABC," the Jackson 5, 1970
"War," Edwin Starr, 1970
"Ben," Michael Jackson, 1972
"Bad," Michael Jackson, 1987
"SOS," Rihanna, 2006
"Low," Flo Rida, 2008
DIGITAL SONGS: "3" is the 10th Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 whose title features at least one digit (not including titles that spell out numbers, such as Barenaked Ladies' "One Week," Roman numerals, i.e., Don McLean's "American Pie - Parts I & II," or titles with a serial notation such as Eddie Kendricks' "Keep On Truckin' (Part 1)").
Here are the 10 such songs to associate numbers with the best number of all, No. 1, on the Hot 100.
"96 Tears," ? & the Mysterians, 1966
"In the Year 2525," Zager & Evans, 1969
"50 Ways to Leave Your Lover," Paul Simon, 1976
"December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)," the 4 Seasons, 1976
"9 to 5," Dolly Parton, 1981
"Nothing Compares 2 U," Sinead O'Connor, 1990
"All 4 Love," Color Me Badd, 1992
"4 Seasons of Loneliness," Boyz II Men, 1997
"21 Questions," 50 Cent featuring Nate Dogg, 2003
"3," Britney Spears, 2009
"3" becomes the second-highest numeral to appear solely atop the Hot 100. Sinead O'Connor retains the honor with "Nothing Compares 2 U."
'3'-SOME: "3" is, fittingly, Britney Spears' third No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
She first led with "...Baby One More Time" for two weeks beginning on the Jan. 30, 1999, chart. She scored her second No. 1, "Womanizer," a year ago this week.
"3" also instantly becomes Spears' 23rd Hot 100 chart entry and eighth top 10. Since her first appearance on the chart dated Nov. 21, 1998, Spears and Mariah Carey trail only Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana (30) for most chart appearances among women.
POP MUSIC: Britney Spears continues to dominate at her home radio format.
"3" bounds 38-25 on Pop Songs. Since she first appeared on the mainstream top 40 airplay tally 11 years ago this week, her 24 chart entries are the most among all artists.

Spears Voted Best Celebrity Mom
BRITNEY SPEARS' comeback is complete - she has topped a new poll to find the best celebrity mum.
The Toxic superstar lost custody of her two sons after her public meltdown in 2008, but gained shared custody with ex Kevin Federline after she proved to the courts she had cleaned up her act.
And the singer's fans have obviously noticed Spears' efforts - she received a mammoth 74 per cent share of the vote in a new poll by U.K. company Park Christmas Saving to find the best mother in showbusiness.
Following in second place is Spears' childhood rival, Christina Aguilera, who pulled in 12 per cent of the votes, while mother-of-six Angelina Jolie was in third.
Late British reality TV star Jade Goody and mum-of-one Katie Holmes were awarded the fourth and fifth spots respectively.
Other famous matriarchs in the top ten include Madonna, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Garner, Nicole Richie and Victoria Beckham.

'3' To 1: Britney Beats Odds To Debut Atop Hot 100
Britney Spears becomes the first artist in over three years to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, to be released tomorrow (Oct. 15), as "3" opens at the pinnacle of the chart. Her new track, a racy paean to the joys of three-way sex from the upcoming hits set "The Singles Collection," due Nov. 24, shifts 255,000 downloads in its first week of release, also propelling it to No. 1 on Digital Songs. The title also jumps 38-25 on the Pop Songs chart and debuts at No. 49 on Radio Songs/Hot 100 Airplay, which ranks songs based on airplay audience on all radio formats.
"3" is the first title to debut at No. 1 since Taylor Hicks' "American Idol" victory song "Do I Make You Proud" did so on the chart dated July 1, 2006. In fact, the last four songs to open at No. 1 were all "American Idol"-related. Prior to Hicks, Carrie Underwood's "Inside Your Heaven" (July 2, 2005), "I Believe" by Fantasia (July 10, 2004) and Clay Aiken's "This Is The Night" each debuted at No. 1. The last non-"Idol" song to open at No. 1 was Lauryn Hill's "Doo Wop (That Thing)" on Nov. 14, 1998. "3" is Spears' third Hot 100 No. 1. Her debut single "...Baby One More Time" spent two weeks at No. 1 in 1999 and "Womanizer" spent a sole frame at the top, exactly one year ago this week, on the chart dated Oct. 25, 2008.
