Club Employees Threatened To Keep Silent on Britney

The following italicized article is from www.radaronline.com:

As pictures have surfaced of Britney Spears hitting a club with some dancers and tour members during a recent stop in Dallas, the employees of the hot spot she spent the night dancing away at are still feeling the heat from her presence. RadarOnline.com has learned that the staff is under strict non-disclosure orders and will be fired if anyone slips up and gives any details from Spears’ night out.

“We’ve all been instructed to say no comment,” a source at Lotus night club tells RadarOnline.com.

With the attention on Spears as strong as ever, it would be understandable if certain club employees felt tempted to spill the beans. But with the threat of losing their job in a depressed economy looming large, it’s doubtful anyone will say a peep.

Says the source: “I can’t say anything or I’ll lose my job.”

Britney Spears' Comeback -- It's The Real Deal

The following italicized article is from www.insidebayarea.com:

There have been points over the last five years when the chances of Britney Spears mounting a successful comeback seemed about as likely as George W. Bush being elected mayor of Berkeley.

At other moments, the odds looked even worse.

The former teen dream had spent the last five years becoming the ultimate tabloid queen. Her sad tale unfolded before us at the supermarket checkout lanes, as headlines screamed out the latest misadventures of the former "Mickey Mouse Club" sweetheart; with each paparazzi payday it seemed like Spears was taking another step toward the point of no return.

Connecting with the public

Yet a funny thing happened on the way to the land of pop culture has-beens: Spears somehow managed to turn things around, at least professionally. Her new album, "Circus" debuted at No. 1. Her concert tour is doing strong business. She's turning out to be one of 2009's most convincing comebacks.

How did this happen when things, not so long ago, seemed so bleak? Some point to the surprisingly good quality of her 2007 album "Blackout," which, ironically, was a commercial failure. But an even larger element seems to be that she was able to turn all her messy trials and tribulations into a legitimate connection with the public. We really wanted her to turn things around

As fans prepare for Spears' three Northern California concerts — Saturday at Arco Arena in Sacramento, April 12 at HP Pavilion in San Jose and April 22 at Oracle Arena in Oakland — it seems apropos to look back at Spears' recent rollercoaster ride of a career and hopefully shed some light on why Britney has succeeded in an area where so many others have failed.

'Til death do us part'

During the first half of her career, Spears seemingly could do no wrong. She rose to stardom with the 1998 single —...Baby One more Time" and released hit album after hit album, becoming the first female performer to have four consecutive discs debut atop the charts. She did all this while managing to maintain a highly marketable public image that, for the most part, successfully married teen idol and sex kitten. She also had a storybook romance with another emerging Mouse Club alum, Justin Timberlake. It seemed the young princess of pop would someday marry her equally attractive prince in a wedding that would be the grandest since Prince Charles wed Diana.

Instead, they broke up. And if one had to nail down a date for when it all began to unravel for Spears, one might point to Jan. 3, 2004, the day she surprised the world by marrying childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander at a Las Vegas chapel. The fact that the marriage only lasted 55 hours before being annulled gave the impression that the starlet didn't have a firm grasp on her personal life.

From there, things began to snowball. She married a second time, to little-known dancer Kevin Federline, who abandoned his girlfriend and their two out-of-wedlock children to take up with Britney. Spears had two children with K-Fed, did things that made mothers-at-large cringe, then divorced her second husband and fought for custody of their children.

Living la vida loco

Spears become a constant fixture on the celeb night life scene, and revealing photos of her (such as that infamous panty-less shot), once considered the Holy Grail for Web-browsing peeping Toms, became as ubiquitous on the Internet as ads to refinance your home.

She shaved her head, for no apparent reason, and was hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation, for very apparent reasons. There was talk of drug use, and her career was stalling: Her fifth disc, 2007's "Blackout," became her first not to top the Billboard album charts.

As late as February 2008, Rolling Stone magazine ran a cover story titled "The Tragedy of Britney Spears," which summed up the public perception of the fallen star. The whole thing was like some grandiose Greek tragedy, starring a former Mouseketeer from Mississippi, and oddly enough people couldn't get enough of it. Or, perhaps, the appeal wasn't so weird after all.

What Spears had succeeded in doing, with all her personal failures, was to create a celebrity image that felt far more "real" than nearly anything the public had ever seen (with a downfall that rivaled Lindsay Lohan's for media access). It's hard for regular folks to truly identify with a megastar who's on top of the world and selling millions of albums, but it's not hard to connect with one going through breakups, child custody battles and financial woes. Spears was unable to do something that she was never able to do before 2004: She made us feel like she was one of us.

Now, seemingly every celebrity is attempting to accomplish something similar. Countless pop culture icons, who once nurtured the image of being different from the public at-large, are going out of their way to come across like Average Joes and Janes. They use their blogs and Twitter to keep fans up to date on everything from what they had for breakfast to how their relationships are going. Think John Mayer and Pete Wentz. None of them, however, have consistently given us more of interest, without seemingly trying, than Britney.

The public might be fascinated with a "crash and burn." But people love a comeback. Spears certainly qualified for the former, and she showed enough resilience to give watchers hope that she might also make it to the latter.

'Circus' comes to town

By Britney standards, "Blackout" was a commercial disappointment, though many critics (including this one) thought it was her best record to date. And it plays a big role in Britney's comeback. It propelled Spears to a big night at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 7, 2008. The CD's key single, "Piece of Me," would garner trophies for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year. Suddenly, Britney was getting good press.

Spears' record label, Jive, capitalized by quickly releasing the first single from her forthcoming sixth CD to radio. The track, a contagious dance ditty called "Womanizer," shot to the top of the charts by mid-October and — surprise, surprise — Britney found herself with one of the biggest hits of her career.

When the album "Circus" was released at the end of November, it debuted at No. 1. It's one thing to persuade a fan to drop $15 on a CD (or download), but it's quite another to get people to spend hundreds of dollars on concert tickets. Spears proved up to that challenge as well.

The singer's road show is turning out to be one of the year's top tickets. That's definitely the story in Northern California, where the tour — the singer's first major outing in five years —is expected to see nothing but full houses during its three stops.

"Anytime an artist is away from the scene for awhile, you have to wonder if their audience will still be around," says Gary Bongiovanni, editor-in-chief of the concert industry trade publication Pollstar. "Obviously, Britney has a legitimate fan base that still wants to see her perform live."

That fan base is also willing to pay top dollar for the opportunity. Tickets for her local concerts run as high as $750. That's a lot of dough to drop in these tough economic times, especially for an artist who has seemingly given her fans every reason in the world to stop caring.

Yet, if anything, they seem to care even more than ever.

"I want my kids to see her succeed," says Castro Valley resident Arlene Chaves, who is spending some $2,000 to take her family to the Oakland concert. "I'm excited, personally, to see the show, because I really feel bad for her. I feel bad for what she's been through, and it makes me feel good to see her come back."

Nicole Scherzinger Would Be 'Afraid' Of A Britney Spears Dance-Off

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:

Since March, the Pussycat Dolls have been busy supporting Britney Spears on her Circus tour. Before that, the Dolls had been traveling the world on their own tour, and the ladies wouldn't want it any other way.

"It's been nonstop," Nicole Scherzinger told MTV News. "We were on our Doll Domination Tour all throughout Europe, and now we're on Britney's tour, and after this, we're going to go back on our Doll Domination Tour."

So how do they handle the group's never-ending tour schedule? "It's the PCD gods and angels around us," Scherzinger said.

Nicole could only use one word to describe the hectic atmosphere of touring with someone like Britney: "It's really a circus. It's crazy. I think the tour's been really good for us doing what we do best: singing and dancing. A lot of people have told us the fans' ultimate wish is to have Britney Spears and PCD on tour."

The hectic schedule also means that the Dolls haven't been able to get any time to chill out with Britney. "This is her tour, and I'm sure she's busy, and I'm always doing press right before we get onstage," she said. "We haven't had too much interaction, but we're always planning stuff."

Perhaps the girls will all be able to meet up onstage at some point during the tour. "That would be super fun," she said. "We did that when we were [on tour] with Christina [Aguilera]."

Nicole also hopes that touring with a pop staple like Britney will attract a new fanbase to the Dolls. "Britney's been around so much longer and been around people who might not know us," she said.

For Brit's Circus, the girls decided to do a mini-version of their Doll Domination show. "We kept our same original look. We kept it PCD-style," she said. "We were on tour already, and we picked one outfit from the costume changes. We wanted it to be colorful and fun and sparkly and things that the kids could relate to."

If the ladies ever find time in their schedules, maybe they could squeeze in a Britney-vs.-Dolls dance-off. "I would be afraid. She can throw down. She's got some moves," Nicole said. "If we had a dance-off, maybe it would be more of a collaboration dance or maybe one of the other girls can do it; I'll just stand and watch. She's a great dancer and a great performer."

Brit's Lawyer: She'll Sing, I Promise

The following italicized article is from www.tmz.com:

TMZ has learned the attorney for Britney Spears' conservatorship has guaranteed Britney will meet all her obligations on her concert tour -- and he's putting his money where his mouth is.

We've obtained documents showing attorney Andrew Wallet has given his personal assurance -- to the tune of $1.5 million -- that if Britney flakes out, he'll pay up.

The conservatorship made numerous deals for the tour last year, and vendors wanted to make sure those deals would be honored. It's common practice to get what amounts to a bond when the subject of the contract is under a conservatorship.

The document, which was signed by the court on December 22, 2008, also makes American Contractors Indemnity Company a guarantor.

In short, this means that if Britney goes south, Wallet won't have to open his -- the insurance company will take care of it.

Men At A Britney Spears Concert: What Are They Doing There?

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:

Almost everyone we've spoken with who's seen Britney Spears' Circus Tour has said the same thing: The women in the audience outnumber the men by a huge margin. The gender divide is most obvious in the lines for the rest rooms, which often results in desperate females sneaking into the almost-deserted men's rooms.

While we didn't conduct any restroom interviews at the tour's Pittsburgh stop on Friday, we did corner some of the males in the audience to find out what brought them to the show. Although most guys gave a generic "I'm here with my girlfriend/ wife/ daughter," some men were more than happy to admit they paid top dollar to go to the show and expressed their love for Britney.

"She's so hot! She's every man's fantasy!" enthused 21-year-old Hugh Stumpp.

"A lot of guys like Britney Spears," said Steven Dearth, 19. "They're just afraid to come out and say it. So we're just coming out tonight to enjoy ourselves at the Britney Spears concert because we're not afraid to say that we love Britney Spears!"

Even some of the guys who played arm-candy for the show admitted that they're fans, even if they might not know the lyrics to the Circus album by heart.

"I can honestly say I like Britney Spears," said Joe Franciscus, 20, who joined four of his female friends to the concert. "She's hot! I think she's pretty talented. Even though she's gone through all this stuff, she's still moved on with everything." Belle Peng, 21, said she suspects her boyfriend, Nikita Nesterov, 20, is more of a Spears fan than he might be letting on. "Nikita was more excited about seeing Britney than the girls were," she joked.

Sure, guys escorting girlfriends, wives and family members were represented — but with so many unattended young women around, were any of the guys looking for dates?

"A lot of guys feel uncomfortable," Nesterov said. "If my friends were here they would probably change their minds, because there's a lot of girls here, and the show is pretty good."

Chris Hink, 19, went to the concert with friends and even bought a Spears T-shirt, even though they didn't come in men's sizes.

Despite the small number of males at the show, most audience members agreed that the men sitting at home were definitely missing out on a great show.

"I'm sure there are a lot of guys out there that are Britney fans that just didn't want to come to the concert," said Natalie Nilon, 27, who attended the show with her husband, Shaun. "Maybe they didn't have a girlfriend to take, but I'm thinking there are guys out there that wish they were there tonight."

Britney's Fight to Win Back Kevin

The following italicized article is from www.ok-magazine.com:

After burning up the stage of the Air Canada Centre on March 19, Britney Spears worked up a sweat with one of her male dancers at the Hazelton Hotel Toronto.

“They kissed in the elevator,” a source says. “He went back to her suite.”

Things got steamier the next night in Montreal, where the pair hooked up at The Circus Starring Britney Spears Tour’s afterparty at Tribe Hyperclub.

“She sat on his lap and they kissed,” an eyewitness tells OK!.

The duo then reportedly went into the bathroom and the door was blocked by bodyguards. “Nine minutes later, they came out,” the eyewitness says.

Looks like the singer is in love again — but insiders say it’s not her dancer whom she desires: Britney has fallen for her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, and is trying to rebuild their broken family.

In fact, she’s even going so far as fighting to steal him from his new girlfriend, Victoria Prince, and trying to make him jealous by flaunting her love affairs in public.

“She’s giving him a taste of his own medicine,” the source tells OK!.

With Kevin along on the tour to take care of their sons, Preston, 3, and Jayden, 2, the former spouses are spending more time together than they have since their November 2006 split.

“They are seeing each other every day,” a tour source tells OK!. “When Kevin’s had the boys for the day, they greet their mom with hugs and kisses, and their dad fills Britney in on how they spent their time. It’s just like any other family when one of the parentscomes home from work.”

The cozy family scene is one that Britney, 27, wants to make permanent with Kevin, 31.

“They have such a complicated history, but Britney has never stopped caring about him,” a Federline family member tells OK!. “Now that she has put most of her problems behind her and is making an impressive concert comeback, she’s feeling like she, Kevin and the boys could have a fresh start.”

Former Attorney For Jamie Spears Testifies Britney Wanted Ex-Manager Jailed

The following italicized article is from www.accesshollywood.com:

Britney Spears asked for her former manager, Osama “Sam” Lutfi, to be jailed, a former attorney for the pop star’s father said in a Los Angeles courtroom earlier today.

Jamie Spears has been seeking a permanent restraining order for his daughter against Lutfi, and the hearing in Los Angeles, which saw testimony from Jamie’s former attorney, Blair Berk, was at the request of his current counsel.

According to City News Service, Berk recounted the pop star’s request regarding Lutfi to the court.

“She repeatedly asked if I could get him arrested for what he’d done to her and get the court to order him to stay away from her,” Berk said, according to CNS.

Berk also reportedly claimed Lutfi threatened to release embarrassing information about the pop star and her dad if Berk did not stop such information being released about him.

Additionally, Berk spoke about Britney Spears’ lack of relationship with attorney Jon Eardley, who once challenged the conservatorship Britney is currently under. Berk testified that the pop star previously told her she did not know Eardley and she did not want him as her lawyer.

Lutfi’s lawyers claim there is no evidence that proves he caused Britney Spears emotional distress, according to CNS. They are fighting the restraining order.

Lutfi Sis -- I Set Up Brit and Sam's Secret Phone

The following italicized article is from www.tmz.com:

Sam Lutfi's sister (who knew he had one) testified in court today that she played middle man to help Britney Spears stay in touch with Sam -- and her version of the story sounds like a James Bond movie.

During a hearing in L.A. Superior Court regarding the temporary restraining order (TRO) against Sam, Christina Lutfi said Britney called her in mid-January. According to Christina, Britney said she wanted Sam to get her a new lawyer, and a pre-paid cell phone.

Presumably, that would allow Brit to circumvent the TRO and talk to Sam without her dad Jamie's knowledge.

Now imagine this scene: Christina says she met Brit on January 16 in the sauna at a posh Beverly Hills hotel to deliver the cell phone. She claims the drop went down while Brit's mom and bodyguards were nearby in the hotel.

Lutfi also testified that Britney said she "felt like a prisoner," was "afraid of her father" and that he was threatening to take away her kids.

Despite the testimony, the judge refused to lift the TRO. The hearing was continued to April 21 when closing arguments will be heard.

Dad Jamie Spears' Away And Oops, Britney Spears Does It Again

The following italicized article is from www.nydailynews.com:

When her daddy’s away, Britney Spears plays ... and how.

The pop star found an on-tour playmate in a hunky 21-year-old backup dancer while father Jamie was tending to business in L.A. late this month. According to a well-placed tour source, Britney’s relationship with the hoofer was not that innocent.

“Britney was a bad girl,” says our insider. “Literally as soon as her dad left, she started getting cozy with a dancer named Gio. It wasn’t serious. They had a few romantic interludes, and she bought him a few things — a pair of shoes and some clothes — even though she’s on an allowance.”

But now that Jamie’s back with the “Circus” tour and casting a watchful eye over his daughter again, Brit’s romance has cooled. “Britney was definitely getting jiggy there for a hot minute, but they’ve slowed down since Jamie got back in the picture,” says the insider. “It’s basically over now.”

Britney Spears Fans Get Their First Taste Of Candie’s Ads

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:

Remember when Jenny McCarthy posed on the toilet for Candie’s? Or the time that Sugar Ray frontman Mark McGrath made out with a lady in the bathroom in his ads for the brand? Now, Britney Spears is following in the time-honored, sugary footsteps of other Candie’s spokesmodels — who also include Fergie, Hayden Panettiere and Hilary Duff — and fans will get their first taste of her spring 2009 campaign for the brand on April 15 in a full-size poster available exclusively in Us Weekly.

According to a press release, the ads for the teen-centric clothing line will feature a collage of celebrity photographer Mark Liddell’s color and black-and-white snapshots of Britney, who is no stranger to posing in skimpy outfits. Earlier this month on BritneySpears.com, Britney gave fans a sneak peek of the shoot, in which she mugged for the camera in a sports bra and panties, a leopard-print crop-top and a plaid dress.

“My favorite set-up was against the gigantic wall of pink cotton candy,” Britney said in a statement about the campaign. Unlike many of the other past campaigns which have taken place in a bathroom setting, no word if there will be any toilets involved in Brit’s ads.

Britney Spears' Fans Say: Don't Call It A Comeback!

The following italicized article is from www.mtv.com:

Britney Spears has had more than her share of ups and downs over the past few years. But with a successful new album, Circus, and a nationwide tour packing in crowds all across the country, she's definitely back on top.

However, some of her die-hard supporters beg to differ -- because they insist she never went away in the first place! Before and after Britney's Pittsburgh concert on Friday, most fans agreed, comeback or not, Spears was on top of her game.

"I don't think she ever went away," said 21-year-old Hugh Stumpp. "She's on top of the world right now and she's continued to grow and it's great."

"Her huge tour comeback just shows how great of an artist she really is and shows how she can bounce back from anything," added 20-year-old Steve Delong.

As fans left the show donning their handmade "It's Britney, B---h" T-shirts and replicas of her famous music-video looks, it was quite obvious that these supporters had never left Britney's side.

"Everyone just goes through a rough patch," said Danielle DeRuschi, 20. "If you like her you stand up for her and you just follow her through the end."

Über fan Natalie Nilon, 27, was ecstatic that Spears was back on top, but she did notice that one aspect of the old Britney was missing.

"When she first came out a long time ago, she talked a lot more and she interacted more with the crowd," Nilon said. "I just wanted to hear more from her because, you know, it was her chance to talk. But it was still good to hear her say, 'What's up, Pittsburgh!' "

Lori Barker, 29, who donned a replica of Spears' sexy stewardess ensemble from the "Toxic" video, also had one minor request for the singer on her next tour.

"Take me backstage!" Barker cried.

She's probably not the only one wishing for that.
