Britney's Meltdown Tore My Heart Into A Million Pieces

The following italicized article is from www.thesun.co.uk:

BRITNEY SPEARS’ mother has revealed her heartbreak as she was forced to watch her daughter’s melt-down – on live TV.

LYNNE SPEARS, 54, had been mysteriously snubbed by Britney for seven months after the star’s first spell in rehab.

The drugged-up singer, 26, was filmed being taken to a psychiatric ward from her Hollywood home on a stretcher in January, Lynne said: “When I saw her in
the ambulance, her beautiful brown eyes pained and haunted, something inside me broke.”

She then knew that getting help for Britney was a “life and death situation”.

She added: “To see my child like this – at the lowest ebb of her life – almost killed me. I was overcome with a feeling of sadness and helplessness.”

Depression

Lynne said she had been “to hell and back” watching Britney shave her head, lose custody of her kids and taken away on a stretcher.

Lynne told of her heartbreak over Britney refusing to speak to her for so long in a new book.
She describes the singer’s heartbreak over her alcoholic dad, her bitter split with superstar JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, her doomed marriage to KEVIN FEDERLINE and her battle with him over their two sons.

She said the combination of events led the star spiral-ling into depression.

In an exclusive first look at Through The Storm – A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World, Lynne said the first sign of real trouble was when Britney shaved off her hair last year.

Again, she watched the crack-up on TV. She said: “It was so shocking, so disturbing to see that girl with such despondency in her eyes – it broke my heart in a million pieces.”

Lynne, who had shared a close relationship with Britney as she shot to fame, said she was heartbroken to find her daughter had shut her out.

Britney refused to speak to Lynne after she went into rehab last year – and even accused her of sleeping with her ex-husband Federline.

Lynne said: “Britney would lash out at me, accusing me of siding with Kevin and letting him have the boys.” Lynne added that when Britney left the rehab “her anger at me had not cooled”.

She said: “In fact, she refused to speak to me, and our estrangement lasted an excruciating seven months.”

Terrified

The relationship thawed so they did meet and terrified Lynne told of her horror at the influence manager SAM LUTFI was having on Britney.

She said: “Britney was so agitated she couldn’t stop moving. She cleaned the house, changed her clothes many times.

“We talked, but it was as if she wasn’t there. She spoke in the tone and understanding of a little girl.”

After Britney was committed to a psychiatric ward for a second time in January, Lynne and husband JAMIE became convinced it was “a life or death situation”.

But Lynne said the move actually saved Britney’s life – because she persuaded doctors to keep Lutfi away.
