Brit is back in the studio making some new music. Uber-producer Sean Garrett tells us he's set to reunite with Spears on a song or two. He co-produced and sang on "Toy Soldier" from her 2007 album, Blackout.

"I'm going into the studio with her," Garrett told us yesterday at the VMAs. "I love Britney. I want to help her grow. I want to do stuff that's going to be able to travel around the world."

Spears' last album, Circus, was released in November 2008 and was followed by a world tour. "I'm glad to see her back," Garrett said. "I really would like to get into her mind and find out what loving Britney is all about."

He added with a very big smile, "It could get a little freaky."

New Britney Music in June?

If Brit-Brit's too-brief appearance at the Grammys wasn't enough to whet your "Toxic" appetite, then get ready to chow down on some new music from Spears this June.

For all those Circus freaks out there, you'll be stoked to hear that Britney is re-teaming with K. Briscoe, part of The Outsyders production team, who penned Spears' comeback hit "Womanizer." Plus, our pop princess is also hooking back up with Corte Ellis from Soul Diggaz, who previously worked with Britney on the songs "Naked" and "Get Back" off Blackout.

Finally, color us flattered that Spears took our advice and decided to collaborate with our fave new French hitmaker DJ David Guetta on new tunes. Ooh, la la!

Briscoe, Ellis and Guetta join a heap of producers who have already been tapped for the project—like Danja, Max Martin, Darkchild, Sean Garrett. Guess it's just a matter of time until we hear whose tracks make the final album cut. Hope we don't blackout from anticipation! (Get it? Blackout? Blackout? I'll be here all night, folks.)

Britney Spears' Collaborators Promise New Album Will Be Her Real Comeback

Britney Spears' performance at last year's VMAs was a bad omen for her subsequent release of Blackout, it stands to reason that Brit's new album may be as promising as her successful appearance at the 2008 VMAs. And the producers of her new work in progress assure us that's the case.

"You always want to give her something she can feel intrigued by, because she's done so much," songwriter and producer Sean Garrett told MTV News. "She's had some incredible albums. She's been through so much, so you want to do things that will raise her eyebrows as well as her fans', so we're going to work really hard to give her something exceptionally special."

The singer has been popping in and out of recording sessions in Los Angeles and Las Vegas all summer, and she's been lining up a steady stream of collaborators for the new album, including Rodney Jerkins, Nate "Danjahandz" Hills, Keri Hilson and even Lil' Jon.

Getting Spears' music back in the clubs is a priority, Garrett said, but he's also working on giving her songs with a longer shelf-life than your average dance track.

"This time, we're going to try some different sounds," he said. "We're really trying to push the sound limits. We're definitely going to make sure it's hot, you know, great songs that fans will go crazy over, but I'm not just [aiming to] 'stay in the clubs.' If it's a ballad, a midtempo, fusing techno with hip-hop or whatever it is, what matters is that it has some sounds we've never heard before."

While Garrett wants to push Spears sonically, Hilson said she wants to push the singer lyrically and get some more meaningful songs on the album.

"Of course, everybody's giving her party smashes, and I've heard some of them, and they're great," Hilson said. "But I think we can dig a little deeper this time. I want it to feel a little more real and organic. That's where I want to go with her."

Hilson is due to sit down with Spears in the next week to get on the same page. "We need to figure it out," she said. "Sit down, have a conversation, and see what she's feeling at the moment, and take a bird's-eye view of that."

Beyond that, Hilson doesn't want to overplan her writing sessions with Spears. "Songwriting is one of the most unorthodox things in the world," she said. "Songs come from all sorts of different ways, places and times."

Garrett, meanwhile, is going to play his cards close to his chest for this project. "What's smart to do is not to tell anybody too much about it while it's happening," he said. "Don't tell anybody. Everything is so predictable these days, because the information is right there and no one is keeping secrets anymore. Remember how Michael Jackson used to be mysterious? That's what superstars should do."

And though Brit's collaborators won't spill the details, they will express confidence that we'll like what we hear, once we hear it.

"I'm sure it'll be great," Hilson said. "She's very focused."

"It'll be her real comeback," Garrett said. "At the end of the day, it's about the music, and this is incredible music."

Britney: New, 'More Urban' Album Due In '09

Britney Spears says her next Jive album will be out in between six and nine months and that "I think it is more urban," she says in an interview with OK! Magazine. "I'm writing every day, right here at the piano in this living room. This is my best work ever."

Last month, Jive said Spears was working "with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters" that it did not name, but JR Rotem, Sean Garrett, Guy Sigsworth, Danja and Bloodshy & Avant have all independently revealed that they're contributing to the as-yet-untitled project.

The new album will be the follow-up to last year's "Blackout," which has sold 887,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

"Blackout" was largely overshadowed by Spears' tabloid-fodder personal life and her disastrous performance of the single "Gimme More" during the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas.

As reported yesterday, Spears may wind up appearing at the upcoming VMAs and is already appearing in promo ads for the event next month.

Rebounding from what seemed like an endless spiral of personal crises and public meltdowns, tabloid queen Britney Spears is back in the studio and at work on a "brand-new album," according to a joint statement released by the pop icon's manager, Larry Rudolph, and her label, Jive Records.

No release date for her sixth studio album has been set, and none of her collaborators is named in the statement. With the intention of resurrecting her career, the multi-platinum-selling mother of two released "Blackout" last fall, which opened at No. 2 on the national album chart and was ranked among Rolling Stone magazine's Top 50 albums of 2007. Recorded during the time Spears, 26, was pregnant with her second son, Jayden James, and separating from Kevin Federline, the CD featured collaborations with producer-performers including Pharrell Williams and T-Pain.

But "Blackout's" commercial reception was ultimately overshadowed by Spears' erratic behavior that year, which included shaving her head in a Sherman Oaks beauty salon, attacking a paparazzo's car with an umbrella, checking into and out of rehab, blowing off custody hearings and turning in a disastrous performance of the album's lead single, "Gimme More," at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards.

Further presaging Spears' return to center stage, the "pop wreck" has kept busy by making appearances in others' videos. Last month, she appeared at a shoot for the bump-and-grind pop quintet the Pussycat Dolls' single "When I Grow Up." Producer Says He's Helping 'Reinvent' Britney Spears

Grammy-winning producer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins says he's working with Britney Spears on some "very dancey, really up-tempo, aggressive, catchy, and hook friendly" material for the singer's next album.

"I'm trying some new things [with Spears] … I've always worked with Britney and I love working with her," Jerkins told Rap-Up TV last week at Interscope Geffen A&M's Creme of the Crop dinner in Los Angeles. "I'm try to reinvent her and reinvent myself with her project."J

He adds that while some artists take a long time to record a song, during a recent studio session, "[Britney] walked in at 8:30 and was out by 10:30."

As far as Spears's mind-set, Jerkins says she's, "working on the positive side." Producer Sean Garrett, who has not yet gone into the studio with Spears but is set to work on her new record, also recently told PEOPLE, "I know she's been doing a lot better … You just want to give her the opportunity to get things back together."

And it would seem that Spears is getting back on track. Over the weekend she engaged in some happy mommy time when sons Preston and Jayden had a sleep-over at her Studio City home.

Pal Says Britney Is Doing 'Great'

As Britney Spears continues on her road to recovery, a friend of Spears says things are going well for the singer.

"She's doing great," Palms Casino Resort owner George Maloof tells PEOPLE.

Maloof, who recently had dinner with Spears twice in L.A., says that the two are "good friends," and adds it would be fantastic to have her perform at his Vegas venue.

"I'd love to have her here at the Pearl [Theater]," says Maloof, who stopped by the premiere of The Rocker, starring Rainn Wilson, at the Cinevegas Film Festival. "It would be great."

Maloof says the idea of a Vegas concert "didn't come up" when he saw Spears in L.A. But it turns out Spears flew there Thursday for a different reason altogether.

"Britney left L.A. for Vegas for an extended Father's Day weekend with her dad [Jamie]," a source tells PEOPLE. Despite reports that Spears' cameo in the upcoming Pussycat Dolls video was cut, Britney is still plugging away at her other projects: She's scheduled to work on songs with Sean Garrett in three weeks.

Meanwhile Spears's ex, Kevin Federline, is also headed to Sin City on Friday for Father's Day purposes: K-Fed will be there to accept his "Father of the Year" honors from Prive Las Vegas.

"Britney is in the experimental stages of a new album," says the source. "She's trying to find the sound and direction she wants to go in, but nothing is set in stone just yet. She has been playing the piano a lot and just singing. She says she misses 'just singing.'" This is amazing news ... but to be completely honest, I was hoping that Britters might be a little further along on her new album than just "early stages". I hope that the producers are just play coy about how much work has been done since we've seen that Britney has been hanging out in recording studios for months now. I am holding out hope that Britney will release a new album this Fall and will get back on the schedule of a releasing a new album each year. If you consider how great Blackout turned out considering the mental state she was in last year, then this new album has the potential to be an absolute killer -- and then a tour?! Wee! I can't wait!!!
