Britney Spears Files Suit in Stinky Perfume Case

Britney Spears is firing back at the perfume company that is suing her -- in the form of her very own lawsuit against the company.

Britney has filed a cross-complaint, claiming Brand Sense was all about radio silence when it came to accounting for how much money she was supposed to get for the sale of a perfume -- Radiance -- she was hocking. And there was a lot of money on the line, Brit claims -- millions of bucks worth of the fragrance were sold.

Brit says Brand Sense withheld Britney's share of the proceeds for months, failing to pay her interest on the delayed payments.

Brand Sense is suing Brit, claiming she cut them out of her deal with Elizabeth Arden. Britney says Brand Sense was not cut out of the deal.

Britney Spears Sued for Alleged Perfume Fraud

Britney Spears allegedly defrauded a company that hooked her up with Elizabeth Arden in a deal that made Britney a fortune ... this according to a $10 million lawsuit obtained by TMZ. Brand Sense Partners, LLC claims it had a deal with Brit in which the company would get 35% of Britney's profits in return for securing a perfume contract with Elizabeth Arden. According to the suit obtained by TMZ, Britney and her dad defrauded Brand Sense by entering into a secret deal with Elizabeth Arden, allegedly robbing Brand Sense of millions in the marketing of her perfume, Radiance. The suit claims Brand Sense caught Jamie "red-handed" in circumventing their deal. The lawsuit seeks more than $10 million in damages. No response yet from Britney's camp. Source: TMZ

Britney Launching a New Fragrance Called 'Radiance'

If you're already of fan of the Pop Princess and love her scents, you'll be very happy to know her newest fragrance, Radiance is slated to hit stores in late September! I know it's a log way off for the blogosphere but I wanted to be the first to share the news with all you Britney fans.

If not for anything else, I'd buy this fragrance just to keep this rhinestone-adorned bottle on my dresser. It's so over-the-top but I love it. The top notes of the new scent are wild berries and soft, dewy petals. Very feminine! The fragrance is also bursting with tuberose, jasmine, orange flower and iris. The delicate aromas come together to form an unforgettable and utterly irresistible scent.

Perfume junkies may be happy to know this fragrance has a light musk scent to it as well, which really makes it oh-so-covetable. I'm generally not big on celebrity fragrances but Britney has offered up some pleasantly surprising ones in the past. I think you'll be just as pleased with this one, if not more.

Keep an eye out for this gorgeous and sensual fragrance around the end of September 2010 (believe it or not, it's quickly approaching!) at The Bay, Sears and Pharmaprix/Shopper's Drug Mart ($63 for 50 mL; $78 for 100 mL).

Celeb 100 FAQ: Yes, Britney Spears Really Made $64 Million Last Year. Here's How.

The following italicized article is from www.forbes.com:

When Britney Spears popped up at no. 6 on our Celebrity 100 list, we too thought it must be some sort of technical glitch in the number crunching process. What else could explain the placement of the former head-shaving, umbrella-swinging, rehab-visiting pop-tart near the top of a list of the world’s most powerful stars? Could this one-time train wreck really be that rich or that important to the entertainment business?

The answer is yes. The Britney Spears who made our list was not the tabloid target whose frequent meltdowns only two years ago relegated her to our infamy index. Instead, the 28-year-old that clocked in in our top 10 was the chart-topping songstress whose past 12 months included the 5th highest-grossing tour of the year. According to concert trade publication Pollstar, "The Circus Starring Britney Spears" tour grossed more than $130 million. Spears took in still more from tour merchandise and another greatest hits album, "The Singles Collection."

Like her savvier Hollywood cohorts, she has been similarly busy building the Spears brand, extending her fan-base –and wallet—with a host of top-selling Elizabeth Arden fragrances, an endorsement deal for Candie’s and a fashion collection for juniors. She added the latter last month, and will sell her designs exclusively at Kohl’s.

But for her to land as high on the list as she did, she needed to garner as much fame as she did money. She did. In fact, the mother of two ranked third overall in Web mentions (behind Lady Gaga and Beyonce, who banked an estimated $62 million and $87 million, respectively, during the same period) and second in a social media metric that factored in both Twitter and Facebook followings (Gaga has her beat with nearly 10 million Facebook fans).

Still more impressive: in May, Spears overtook Twitter king Ashton Kutcher as the most popular celebrity on Twitter. At last check, she had 5.2 million followers, a group with whom she responds to and frequently updates.

So no, Britney Spears is far from through. If the last year is any indication, she's just getting started.

Britney Surprises NY Middle School With $10,000 Endowment

The following italicized article is from www.accesshollywood.com:

The last time we saw Britney Spears in a school hallway she was dancing in her infamous plaid skirt and singing “Baby One More Time” — this time she was handing out $10,000 checks.

The students at John Philip Sousa M. S. 142 in the Bronx received quite a surprise Wednesday when the pop star stopped by the school and presented an endowment for the school’s new music program from Elizabeth Arden, the company behind her three fragrances, Believe, Fantasy and Curious, People reports.

Britney, who earlier in the week caused a frenzy on the streets of New York City as fans and photographers swarmed her, did not disrupt classes, as school was not in session due the Jewish holiday.

(CLICK HERE to listen to Adnan talk about Britney’s rumored sex tape with Ryan Seacrest on KIIS-FM)

The school’s eight-piece band, the Sousatones, gave Britney a taste of what her donation will help fund, with a rousing performance.

Following the Sousatones show, band director Sal Mazzola, told the pop star, “When you’re ready to take us on the road for an opening act, we’re ready!”

“You’ll be the first people I call,” Britney replied (the pop star plans to tour in 2009).

The band wasn’t the only one showing Britney their musical chops. A seven-girl chorus sang for Britney too, which included 14-year-old Rachel Lewis, who sang “I Am Woman.”

The band director told his students in advance a “high-profile” guest would be stopping by the school but they only found out it was going to Britney that morning.

Some of the students reportedly thought it was going to Barack Obama or Diddy showing up.
“I really enjoyed the time I spent at the John Philip Souza Middle School,” Britney told the mag. “I’ve been working with the people at Elizabeth Arden for the last five years, and I know how passionate everyone is about the school. I loved hearing the school orchestra and the children sang so beautifully. The fact that Elizabeth Arden made such a large donation for the school music studio in my name was so generous.”

"I've been working with the people at Elizabeth Arden for the last five years, and I know how passionate everyone is about the school. Arden produces Brit's fragrances, Believe, Fantasy and Curious.

Although school was not in session because of the Jewish New Year, Britney was welcomed by a musical performance. "I loved hearing the school orchestra and the children sang so beautifully," said the newly lucid star.

Breaking Down The Britney Bucks

The following italicized article is taken from www.eonline.com:

Say what you will about Britney Spears, she's a valuable commodity as far as the nation's economy is concerned.

According to Portfolio magazine, the troubled pop princess puts anywhere from $110 million to $120 million in the pockets of others each year—and that's when she's not even touring.

Spears earns an estimated $737,000 a month, or about $9 million a year, and has already built up a fortune estimated at $125 million, according to recent court documents in her custody battle with Kevin Federline.

Impressive as those figures are, however, they amount to little in comparison to the money others are making off the singer.

Foremost, there's the direct Spears-related music and business ventures:

Since releasing her debut album in 1999, Spears has gone on to sell a staggering 83 million records, raking in more than $400 million for her label, Jive Records.

Her tours, too, are hot sellers, grossing close to $150 million to date. And Elizabeth Arden has sold close to $100 million of the Britney-based fragrances Curious, Believe and Fantasy.

In all, the Spears brand is bringing in an average annual take of $30 million to $40 million for her record label, promoters, licensers and others.

There's a reason the paparazzi are constantly on her tail.

Money shots of the "Oops" singer can generate anywhere from $250 for the average shot of a gas station run to $500,000 for, say, X17's exclusive shaved-head photos.

X17, which sold $2.5 million worth of Spears photos in 2007, estimated that shots of the singer represent 30 percent of its revenue, while rival agency Splash News pegged Spears' value at closer to 10 or 15 percent of its business.

In all, photo agencies score an annual take of around $4 million by keeping their cameras trained on Spears.

All of those photos are getting published somewhere—namely, celebrity tabloids.

From January 2006 to July 2007, Spears was featured on the covers of People, Us Weekly, In Touch, Life & Style, OK! and Star 175 times.

While that may seem like oversaturation, there's a good reason for it: A magazine with Spears' mug on the front sells about 33 percent more copies on the newsstand. Within the 78-week time period referenced above, newsstand sales of issues with her on the cover amounted to $360 million.

On the Internet, Spears has topped the annual Yahoo search rankings for six of the last seven years, briefly dropping to number two in 2004 when Paris Hilton had a short-lived stint at number one.

Searches for the singer were up 60 percent in 2007—the year she shaved her head, checked into rehab and committed numerous other interest-generating acts.

In all, Spears fodder amounts to an estimated $75 million in annual media revenue.
And then there's K-Fed...

An unknown backup dancer BB (before Britney), he now commands up to $30,000 for a simple nightclub appearance.

He also continues to draw $35,000 a month from the singer in spousal and child support payments.

In all, Federline's ex factor probably nets him an annual take of about $1 million.

"Gimme More" has suddenly taken on a whole new meaning.
